CHAPTER 2

“ What!!” Lia raged.

“ I’ll assume you are surprised by my sudden proposal, I’ll give you time to think about it” Ryan said

“That wont be necessary, we’ll figure out a way to pay the debt" Lia blurted

"If you change your mind, you can contact me” Ryan said standing up.  The man who came along with him dropped a card on the dining table and they left. 

After they both left Lia who was still shocked by what happened suddenly stood up angrily 

“Did you just hear what he said” Lia said facing Kelly

“Yh ,I did, why do you think he said that?” Kelly inquired

 “I don’t want to know why he said that, I’ll make sure I find a way to pay him back so he won't be able to propose something so ridiculous again” Lia said livid.   

“How are we going to find such a huge amount of money in such a short time though “ Kelly asked worriedly.

“ I’ll find a way” Lia stated

At Hayes & Co… Ryan walks into the building and is greeted by every staff member that sees him in the lobby,

“Good day sir!” ,“ Good day sir!”He reaches the elevator. 

“Has the lady called yet?” Ryan asked his secretary who was the other man who accompanied Ryan to Lia’s house.

“No sir" he answered

"She'll call soon, tell me immediately she does”

“ Yes sir" 

" You said her boyfriend works here right?” 

“Yes sir , he works in production , he’s an assistant manager, sir”

 “Get me every information you can find about him”

 “Yes sir” 

They both walk  into the elevator and heads to his office which is at the top floor. They both get off the elevator and enters an office which is as big as two rooms, a door on the right which leads to the bathroom, another door beside it that leads to his changing room filled with clothes, mostly suits , in case he needs to change . When you enter, you see his luxurious desk and behind it a huge glass window that gives an amazing view of the city. Everything in his office screams luxury. Ryan walks to his desk and begins working.

“Sir, the chairman asked you to come home for dinner today” 

“Ugh! He’s going to ask me to get married again, isn’t he?” 

“ that’s most likely the reason, sir” his secretary answered

“ Make an excuse or something”  Ryan requested trying to dodge the meeting with his Grandfather

“He said to tell you that you can’t miss it or he would come here himself” his secretary stated

“He said that!?” 

“ Yes sir” 

“Ok then , I’ll go”

“Ok sir, I’ll make preparations” His secretary, Jason, then walks out of the office leaving Ryan alone.

“She needs to make up her mind quickly, I don’t have much patience” Ryan says to himself tapping the table . 

 At Lia’s work…

“Sir please just this once , please I really need the money” 

“No Lia, I mean  why on earth are you asking for a two month advance pay?, no I can’t do that” 

“Sir please I really need the money , I promise I’ll work twice as hard” she pleaded

“Sorry Lia, but I just can’t” Lia was very down because she didn’t have enough money for even half of the debt. She tried to ask for a two month advance pay but she couldn’t get it. Now she has to think of another way to pay the debt. 

“Lia is anything going on at home, why are you suddenly asking Donnie for  money”  Olive, one of Lia’s coworker asked worried 

“ it’s nothing” she answered blankly

 “c’mon , what’s wrong” 

“ Nothing ,just that I suddenly have something to pay for”

 “ Well, even if I really want to help you with whatever that is , I also don’t have any money. But I could cheer you up” she said with a cheerful smile 

“how about we hit the club after work, huh?” 

“club? I don’t think so” 

“c’mon , just chill for now, it’ll be fun “  Olive urged 

“Ok fine”Lia finally agreed 

“Ok!” Olive cheered Joyfully

After work…

Lia and Olive arrive at the club and entered

“Just relax and forget everything just for tonight” Olive tells Lia

“Ok!!” Lia answered to the blasting music 

They began dancing and dancing!!! After a while,

“I need to use the toilet”,  Lia shouted to Olive who was talking to a guy she just danced with. 

“Ok!!” Olive shouted back. Lia walked to the toilet but stopped when she saw something shocking. She saw her boyfriend, Jake, kissing another person in a corner of the club . She could not believe what was seeing. Jake had told her that he could not meet up with her because he had a lot of work . She walked up to him, and jerked the girl away from him .

“What the fu… Lia!!, what’re you doing here” Jake was so shocked

 “I should be asking you that!” Lia raged

“Lia, it's not what it looks like!” Jake tried to calm her down 

“What does it look like then!” Lia shouted. By then a lot of people had already gathered to see what the commotion was about.

“How could you do this to me” Lia broke down in tears. 

“Lia , let me explain.”  Jake pleaded

“No need , we’re breaking up!” Lia said decisively and left

“Lia! Lia!” Jake called as he  followed her.

At Lia’s home…

Lia came home and went straight to her room. Kelly, who saw that she was upset, was getting worried.

“Lia? What’s wrong “ Kelly asked worriedly through her door 

“Nothing , just tired” Lia answered blankly

“Are you sure” Kelly asked again. 

"Yeah, I’m fine”

“Are you eating dinner?” 

“No, I’m good” 

“Ok”. Kelly then went to her room to rest for the night. While Lia was in her room crying her eyes out .The next morning Lia woke up with her face all swollen from crying .

“Morning” Kelly greeted 

“Morning” Lia replied

“Come have breakfast” 

“I’m good , I need to head to work”

“But you didn’t have dinner last night either” Kelly said worried 

“I’ll eat something later” 

“Are you sure you’re ok” Kelly inquired

“ Yh I’m good “ Lia said and walks to her room

“Lia wait” Kelly wheels herself to where Lia was

“About the debt , what’re we going to do about it”  Kelly asked, looking down. 

After a little while , Lia answers “I’ll agree to his terms" 

"What do you mean” Kelly raised her head 

“I’m saying that I’ll marry him”

The previous night….

After Lia cried a little , she looked through her purse and brought out a business card. She called the number in it

,“Hello, is this Mr Hayes” 

“This is his secretary, how can I help  you “ the voice on the phone answered

“This is Lia,you came to my house yesterday”

“Oh yes Miss Lia, how can I help  you" he smirked knowing what she had called for

"Tell Mr Hayes that I agree to marry him”

“Ok miss, would it be possible for you to come to the company tomorrow to sign the contract”

 “Ok, I’ll be there" 

"Ok miss , have a good night”

 “ Good choice, here” Ryan brings out a file from his drawer and hands it to Lia

“You should read the contract. The time frame for the contract is 3 years after that we get a divorce and go our separate ways” Ryan explained.

“Oh” Lia says as she reads the contract that was handed to him.  “So like do we have a real wedding with guests and all”. She asked

“There’s no need for that, we just have to register our marriage at the court”

“Ok” Lia said, kind of surprised by his behavior 

“Do I have to meet any one, uhm , your mother or father?” Lia asked curious as to why he has to go through these means to get married and for what reason. Ryan’s face hardened by the question Lia asked. 

“No,  you just need to meet my grandfather. All the details and information you need to before meeting my grandfather is in the file I gave you , you need to read it through because you’ll be meeting my grandfather soon” 

“Soon ,like how soon” Lia asked, suddenly getting nervous“ I’ll reach out to you when it’s time” Ryan replied and stood up 

“Hope we get along well” He said with his hands outstretched. Lia looked at his hands before finally standing up and shaking his hand  

“Hope we get along as well” After that Lia walked out.

“I really hope I made the right choice, whatever I’ve agreed already”she thought and went back home.When she got home she brought out the file from her purse and read through it.
