CHAPTER 6

Lia stood in front of her house on a chilly Friday night, still a bit shaken by what happened a few minutes ago. Ryan had saved her from her ex-boyfriend, Jake , and called her his wife. He dropped her off at home.

 “Thank you so much sir” Lia mused in a tiny voice, embarrassed that Ryan had to witness such an incident. 

“it's no problem, go in and get some rest” 

Ryan replied in an indifferent tone

“ yes,but why were you at my workplace” she inquired 

“ah, my grandfather asked me to drop something off for you, he was very happy to hear that we had already registered our marriage,” Ryan explained and opened the rear door to bring out several bags containing different types of clothes, shoes and bags 

“oh no I can't accept this , it's too much!” Lia said, shaking her head 

 “he insisted that you should” Ryan signaling his driver, who carried the bags to the door of the house

“he also proposed another dinner tomorrow night to discuss officiating our wedding”

“officiating?” Lia said confused

“A marriage ceremony” Ryan explained 

“Ohhhh. is it necessary though “ Lia asked cautiously 

“he is insisting we have one”

“So that's what he’s going to bring up tomorrow right” 

“ yes” Ryan replied 

“ok, but Mr Ryan, can I make a request?” Lia asked cautiously

“what is it?”

“ can you please not send all those stylists and others to my home tomorrow, I’m not quite used to all that”. Ryan thought for a few seconds doubting her style of clothes but decided to go with it ,

“ok, but make sure to dress appropriately”

“of course” Lia replied quickly with a slight smile

“is that all” 

“ oh, yes , that’s all”

“ good night then"

 " yes good night” Lia replied walking to the door while Ryan went into his car. Both of them separated, leaving their scents in the cold air. As soon as Lia shut the door, she jumped in fear when she saw Kelly sitting in the middle of the living room, with a scowl on her face. 

“what are you doing there you scared me! why haven’t you gone to bed yet its past 11”

“well I was waiting for you" 

" for me? Why?” Lia asked walking to her bedroom with Kelly following her 

“why didn’t you tell me that you were going to register your wedding today , I could’ve gone with you"

 "There's no point in you going, it’s a fake wedding anyway” Lia explained while she undressed to shower. 

“still I wanted to be there” Kelly said with a lower tone Lia wrapped a towel around her body and went over to her sister and knelt down to reach her eye level 

“I’m sorry, ok? I really am “ Lia said, holding her sister’s hand between her own 

“ Fine, it's ok,” Kelly replied, trying to shrug her hand off. “Just make sure you tell me if anything else is going on , ok?” 

“Of course , I swear,” she said, raising three fingers up

 “Fine , go take your shower already,”Kelly said, pushing Lia away. Lia stood up and walked to the bathroom but stopped abruptly 

“Oh, that reminds me. I’m supposed to meet with Ryan's grandfather

tomorrow”

“tomorrow? Why?”

“ he wants us to hold a wedding ceremony" 

“A wedding ceremony? then I’m going with you “ Kelly said worried 

“what, no no, there’s no need for you to go" 

"What do you mean by that? Of course I have to be there. You’re getting married and I’m your only family” Kelly said with teary eyes “or are you ashamed of me?” 

Lia’s head snapped up and she walked over to her sister again and bent down

 “what do you mean by that”

“ isn’t that why you’re trying to send me away, because you’re ashamed of me”

Kelly said with little tears dripping from her face 

“Of course not Kelly , why would you think that?” Lia replied while wiping her tears with her hands 

“I’ve never been ashamed of you , I just thought that this was a fake wedding and you shouldn’t have to be there with me to lie. Also I want you to be able to experience my happiness in my real wedding, which I’m going to have eventually,”Lia explained carefully, trying to console her sister. She had no idea her sister had thoughts like that, so she felt bad. 

“Fine , but I’m going for the official ceremony, as your only family I have to be there” Kelly said decisively 

“Ok, I’ll allow that” Lia said, relieved that her sister was feeling better 

“ok , go and take your shower now, I’m fine now"

 "Kelly” Lia called in a soft voice “ I want you to know that I’ve never been ashamed of you ok. So please never think that again” Kelly looked at her face with a slight smile before replying 

“Sure, I’m sorry” she said lowering her head 

“It's ok, “ Lia said and hugged her before going to shower.

 “Kelly!!” Lia shouted from the bathroom 

“Yesss!!?” 

“can you help me pick out an outfit for tomorrow, there are some clothes in the bags I brought back home today, courtesy of his grandfather” 

“ really! I’ll check it out” Kelly said as she went to look at the bags that Lia had left on her bed. 

“Wow!, these dresses look amazing,” she said as she brought out each one from their bags. “They must’ve cost a fortune!” Kelly went ahead to pick out an outfit suitable for the event.
