POV: CALLIE

Nicoly entered, sniffling as if she had been crying, walking slowly, and exuding a heavy scent.

“What happened?” I asked, sniffing in her direction.

“I’m sorry, Miss. I thought I had lost you,” she whispered sadly. “Please, eat.”

“I’m not hungry,” I replied curtly, though my body protested. “I won’t live as a prisoner anymore. There’s no beauty in this world, Nicoly. If you really want to help me, then leave me alone!”

“I can’t. That’s not true... There’s a place where you could be free without being rejected for your condition,” Nicoly said, lowering her voice. I felt the mattress sink slightly, indicating she had sat down beside me.

“A place where they’d accept me?” I frowned, intrigued. “Does such a place even exist?”

“Well, actually, it’s a place where no one cares or questions where you come from. Basically, all species coexist. It’s a city free of wolf rules,” she said, pausing to take my hand and squeezing it gently. “Even the war dared not intervene in this city th

POV: CALLIEI shifted in bed, pulling the blanket over myself and curling up.“Alpha...” I lowered my head in submission.“Well? Answer me,” he said sharply, his tone impassive. “What did you see?”“It was just a dream, Lycan King,” I lied, unsure of what I had really seen.“Describe this dream,” the Alpha growled, his steps making the ground tremble as he approached.I hesitated for a moment, nervous.“It was something personal, Alpha,” I growled back at him.“Then why did you wake up smelling of fear?” His warm breath brushed against my face. I pulled the blanket tighter around me, which made him laugh.“Ah, little wolf, how do you manage to attract my wolf so much? What kind of magic is this?”

POV: CALLIEThe trees of the forest echoed with loud cracks, creating thunderous booms as they fell, signaling the approach of the Lycan King, consumed entirely by rage. I sniffed the moss, earthy, fresh, and slightly damp. Stopping to focus, I nudged my head against a hollow tree. Digging around its base, I felt the moss and began rubbing it against my fur, masking my scent.“I will find you, wolf!” the beast roared in the distance.“Goddess, please help me,” I whimpered, lifting my head and letting my tears mix with the rain. Though it dulled my senses, the rain provided the advantage of confusing scents.I felt his powerful presence behind me. The ground trembled with every clawed step the Alpha took through the forest floor. Branches cracked and shattered beneath him, and his growls grew more intense and feral.“If you wanted to be hunted, little wolf, you cou

POV: AARONSomething about her vision wasn’t clear. The information was accurate, but the blind wolf struggled, never truly understanding what she saw. We worked together to better outline her visions. Despite everything, she had easily agreed to collaborate. Even though Callie had endured torture and become a wary wolf, she carried Lycan blood—not just any wolf, but the blood of a powerful Alpha like Hunter. If she hadn’t awakened the power of the ancient bloodline, she would never have been able to defeat him!My intuition tells me she also possesses witch powers. Keenan, my trusted Beta, brought me vital information about her mother. Lyra belonged to the conclave of ancient witches, followers of the dark god Nocturnus, who had favored them in ancient wars before they discovered his true intentions.Nocturnus fed on corrupted souls, suffering, spilled blood, and chaos—a devoured of light. When the witches rea

POV: AARONWithout thinking, my wolf propelled us into the water, desperately searching for her. I fought against the current, looking around frantically, trying to find her. I spotted the water carrying her toward the waterfall. I kicked my arms and legs forcefully, swimming in her direction, but the river was relentless and faster than me. Before I could reach her, her body was swept over the falls.Fighting fiercely against the current, I grabbed onto a massive rock at the edge of the waterfall, pulling myself onto it and scanning below for any sign of her. I leapt into the forest, shifting midair, and ran along the riverbank, sniffing desperately for any trace of my little wolf.I roared in fury:“Idiot, fool... How could you not see it?” I bellowed as I ran, following the river in search of Callie. “The Goddess sent you to her to protect her, DAMN IT!”I growled, shifting into m

I glanced at the remaining Alphas, who looked back at me, equally perplexed.“Who is the deity referring to?” Jaxon asked, confused.“I don’t know, but I believe we’ll find out soon,” I growled, putting him in his place and pushing him away from the center of the circle. “Unless you want to become part of the sacrifice, I suggest you step back.”Nodding, the Beta quickly retreated. I turned to the trembling she-wolves on the ground, huddled together, crying and pleading:“Please, Alpha, don’t kill us… We’ll serve you faithfully, please,” begged the eldest of the group, shielding the others.

A strange smell lingered in the air, and a weight pressing down on my body made it hard to breathe. Something was touching me intimately. So you’re awake?” A smug growl came from nearby.“Callie?” I asked, confused, forcing my body to sit up. “Why are the lights off?”A silence fell over the room before a mocking laugh exploded, filling the foul-smelling space.“That’s a good one—you’re blind, remember?” The man’s voice vibrated with mockery as he grabbed my elbow tightly. &ldq

Soon, Jaxon came running toward me.“King Lycan, we were worried. That was when Callie turned in her sleep, pressing her body against my fur and clinging to me as if I were a stuffed animal.A mix of tenderness and unease coursed through me as my inner wolf stirred with happiness at the contact.“Now is not the time for this,” I growled mentally at my wolf, reprimanding him.I focused on the crackling fire, my thoughts sinking into dark places. POV: AARONCallie had passed out. Her body was fuller than the last time I had seen her in person, and wounds stretched from her shoulders, trailing down her arms to the tips of her fingers. My eyes roamed over every inch of her skin, assessing the severity of her injuries, until they landed on the curve of her belly. It wasn’t that big, but it was noticeable—round, firm, and slightly swollen. I frowned, sniffing the air near her, when Yulli shoved me aside.“Move! I need to heal her!” The witch snapped impatiently. “Oh, my dear friend, you did it.”She spoke softly, running her fingers through Callie’s hair before beginning her healing spells.I started pacing, rubbing my chin, glancing at her from time to time while my nose kept twitching, sniffing in her direction… These scents.I closed my eyes, sharpening my hearing. Can you see?”There was surprise in his tone.I looked again at the wounded she-wolf on the ground, feeling the ferocity of my beast stir at the sight of her—injured, cowering, trembling, and threatened.Hunter grabbed my hair roughly, yanking me toward him with a sharp breath.“How are you doing this?” he snarled through his fangs.“Don’t touch me!” I growled, my claws extending as I slashed at him the moment he let go. It's only a matter of time before Nocturnus enters the city,” Lyra said.“But the wolves stopped, afraid to follow us here.” I commented, still in shock.“Even werewolves fear ghosts, especially powerful ones,” Yulli laughed, amused. “But that doesn’t apply to creatures controlled by Nocturnus.”“I…” I bit my lip, nervous. “I don’t want to lose my wolf. She’s part of who I am.”I didn’t want to admit out loud that I wasn’t just afraid of losing my wolf—I also feared never having him in my dreams again. Who the hell are you calling a rat?” Jaxon lunged toward him but stopped when Keenan lifted his head, meeting his gaze with icy indifference.“Forget it. If this is what the council wants and the Supreme Alpha’s decision, then take my place, and I’ll take yours.”“You will not!” The Supreme Beta’s threatening roar startled everyone—except me. POV: AARONAfter the full moon, the city finally settled. The wolf howls faded, and the stillness of the night took over. Callie fell asleep in my arms, her body completely relaxing. Carefully, I carried her inside, laying her gently on the bed. I sank down beside her, running my fingers tenderly through her hair. I was exhausted, but a crooked smile formed on my lips as I looked at her. Furthermore, I truly wanted to care for and protect this wolf and her child.“Ours…” I corrected myself automatically, furrowing my brow at my own reaction. The word echoed in my mind.I stretched out my hand, hesitating for a moment before placing it on her belly. Leaning in, I tried to listen for the tiny, strong heartbeat inside her. A sudden kick met my touch, and I couldn’t help but smile—a genuine, admiring smile.“You’re already strong, little one. Are you trying to protect your mo

POV: CALLIEAaron stroked my hair while another movie played on the TV. Out of curiosity, I reached out to feel its shape, yawning despite my efforts to resist exhaustion, afraid that the dark god would be waiting for me there.“You know you'll have to sleep at some point,” the Alpha murmured, his voice slightly drowsy. “You don’t have to worry. I’ll be there with you.”“Even so, I’m not ready to face him,” I admitted, tracing my fingers idly across his bare chest, the tips tingling against his warm, smooth skin.“You don’t have to face him, little wolf. Leave the battles to me,” Aaron pressed a lingering kiss to the top of my head.“You’re exhausted too. And I don’t want to depend on anyone when it comes to battle…” I sighed, sitting up in bed. “I need to get stronger for Rigan.”
