Liam's POV
I woke up to the sight of Asher, sleeping peacefully beside me.We had lodged in the hotel yesterday after the afterparty. We are to stay in the hotel till evening when our flight will take off to Germany.I stared at Asher's pretty face for a few minutes, I smiled to myself as I thought about the conversation we had yesternight. We talked length and be so honest with each other, and It was clear that we both want to make it work, we agreed that it was important to take things slowly and not to rush things and know each other better first.I planted a kiss on her forehead and she stirred a bit. I quietly got up from the bed to avoid disturbing her pretty sleep and tiptoed to the bathroom to have a quick shower and I'd go to order for our breakfast before she woke up.After my shower, I thread gently out of the bathroom making sure not to wake her. I walked up to the box of clothes my mother had kindly brought for us to the hotel without our knowledge. I picked up a shirt and smart shorts, tiptoed out of the bedroom and walked down to the reception to place an order for our breakfast and asked it to be delivered to my room.I was going back to my room when I bumped into someone that made my heart stop beating for a moment. I could not believe who I'm seeing again. It was Lucy. She was coming out from the room before mine, wearing nightgowns, "what is she doing here again" I wondered. "Was she stalking me or she checked into the hotel after my wedding program"."Lucy" I called out gently."Wh…at are you doing here?" I struggled to find my words."Hi Liam," She said with a smile."Hi," I replied awkwardly."Are you lodged in the hotel or you are here for something else"But instead of her replying to me, she moved towards me, moved her hand down my chest and made way to kiss me. I pushed her away from me to prevent any further action from her. I could see the shock written all over her face but I couldn't take back what I'd done. "Lucy, are you here again for me or is it just a coincidence we meet again?" I said, trying to keep my voice down."Relax Liam, do you think it is easy for me to see you get married to another woman? it's not done that way""Get this well and clear, Liam, I love you and nothing, I mean absolutely nothing in this world can change that, not even your dad". She said, her voice filled with unshakeable convictions.I stared at her in confusion, this is not the Lucy I know."Your dad was able to scare me off back then because I was young and easily intimidated but not now my dear, I've grown" She said boldly."I don't seem to understand you again Lucy" I said when I finally found my voice."You were the one advising me to make my marriage work, you even said it right in front of my wife" I pointed out."And now you are saying some things I don't seem to understand"She had encouraged me to accept my fate and now she is saying something opposite."How did you even get to know I would be lodged here?" I asked, confused."I overheard," She replied."From whom?" I asked again. "Does that matter? Can we go to a private place to discuss this?" She said, raising her eyebrows."I don't see any need in discussing this further," I said firmly, trying to put an end to the conversation.I knew Lucy could be persuasive and seductive, and I didn't want to fall victim to her charms .I remember I had made a promise to myself and Asher before we slept yesterday to remain faithful and keep our love alive.I truly loved Lucy , but I've moved on. When she advised me to focus on my marriage and love my wife. I made a commitment to honor that advice. Even though I only met Asher yesterday, I'm already feeling something for her. I can't deny my own feelings."Liam, we really need to talk, let's find a private place and discuss this" She said again."Talk on what exactly Lucy, you advised me to move on and I did" I said bluntly."Just yesterday and you already did, do you ever love me Liam". She said with tears welling up in her eyes but the crocodile tears didn't move me."Really,You want to know if I had ever loved you" I asked, trying to calm my voice."It's something you knew, Lucy. You know how much I cared about you. I looked everywhere for you, your friend's place and where I know I could find you but I couldn't find you. I couldn't bring myself to love anyone else when you were gone." I said slowly, emotions filling my voice. I don't see any need to continue this conversation, I loved you but now I've moved on". I said and made to go but she pulled me back. She dragged me to herself, her eyes meeting mine. Before I could say anything, she pressed her lips against mine.I froze, I couldn't move. Her lips were soft and warm as before. I found myself enjoying the moment, wanting for more and I felt my breath catch in my throat. We both shut our eyes enjoying the feel of each other's lips against our own. our hearts were pounding in our chests. The kiss was so intense that we forgot we were outside."Liam"I jerked out as I heard Asher's voice, and I quickly pulled away from the kiss.I turned to face Asher, feeling my face flush with embarrassment. "Asher, it is not what you think," I stammered and went down on my knees. Tears were flowing down her cheek and I felt so bad for hurting her."It's not what it looks like" I said again, I could feel my eyes were already filled with tears.Liam's povAfter what happened at the hotel, Asher has refused to speak to me. She only faked a smile when our parents came to take us to the airport to board a flight taking us to Germany for our honeymoon. After arriving in Germany, I made several attempts to talk to Asher, but she ignored me every time I did. I knew what I did hurt her but it was never intentional to do so. I wanted to make things right with her, but she kept ignoring me and wasn't ready to hear me out. "Babe," I called softly. "This is the limousine that would be taking us to our hotel". I said as I already confirmed the plate number given to me and was sure that it was for us but my wife remained silent, her expression unreadable. I could feel some tension between us as we sat close to each other inside the vehicle. The air was so heavy with a lot of unresolved feelings. As the limousine drove away from the airport, I wondered what would be going through her mind.In less than one hour we got to the hotel. A
Asher's pov"So babe, what could I possibly do that will make you lose trust in me" I asked Liam as we found a spot in the hotel garden."Hmmm, that's a deep question" He said "Nothing actually but I guess if I had to say something it would be finding out that you are keeping a secret from me. I believe in openness in a relationship. I would not appreciate it if I found out my woman was keeping a secret" He said and my heart skipped a beat but I caution myself to act normal."Ok, but you believe I'm not keeping anything from you right?" I asked with a smile."Oh, yes, I trust you baby" He replied and gave me a peck."So baby, another question" I said with a smile."Ok, go ahead" He said, returning my smile, ready for my next question." What do you intend to do about this Lucy threat?" I asked, ever since Lucy called yesterday when we arrived in Germany, I have been scared even though Liam assured me there won't be a problem but I'm worried she might eventually harm me like she threa
Liam's povAs I reached for my phone, I noticed a message popped up from an unknown number. I already knew it was probably from Lucy. I didn't want Asher to ask me what I was reading on my phone, so I got out of bed and took the phone into the bathroom. Asher had been so shaken by our encounter with the waiter yesterday that I didn't want her to get scared any further. I had assured her that I would take care of the situation, but I didn't even know how I was going to do that. I felt so helpless and alone."If you don't want your woman to get hurt, let us meet. I will send the address to you after you accept . Don't think it's an empty threat. I love you" My heart was racing as I read the message. This is getting really complicated. I was troubled, I know it would be best not to agree to meet with Lucy, but also I feel like I had no choice. I couldn't bear the thought of Asher getting hurt. I knew I had to do something, but I didn't know what to do. I was paralyzed with fear and inde
Liam's pov"Oh, my goodness", I screamed as I jolted out of sleep. I was so confused, I was lying right beside Lucy on her bed, with only boxers. I struggled to remember how I'd gotten here, and then I remembered Lucy gave me a glass of wine and the last thing I remembered was feeling lightheaded. What could have happened? Had I been drugged? Had I blacked out?. I shook Lucy angrily, trying to wake her. But she only stirred and then I realized she was only wearing panties, my head went blank at that moment as It was obvious that something I never wanted had happened while I was unconscious. What had she done to me? Has she taken advantage of my unconscious state?I angrily hit her on her shoulder for her to wake."Ow", she cried out" What happened, why would you hit me like that, is that how you wake your woman" She said and this really pissed me off."What happened between us?" I asked angrily."What sort of question is that"? She snapped as she sat up. " What happened between us?
Asher's pov"It Should not be more than two hours after you left for your friend's place," I said, narrating the horrible incident to Liam who was seated at my bedside in the hospital."Those men pretended to be hotel guests, but they were actually there to harm me" I said, my voice shaking with fear. I tried to stop the tears that were fighting to drop from my eyes , but I couldn't and I let them out. "They beat me, punched me on my face, I shouted but no one heard me. It was after they left that I was able to call the hotel and they rushed me here" I sniffed and wiped my nose with the back of my palm. "Liam, I called your number countless times but you didn't answer," I sobbed, as he held me close to himself, trying to comfort me. "You made me think maybe you are in their custody, like you've been kidnapped or something" I paused, gathering my thoughts. "I thought they got you too, different thoughts were running through my mind. I thought something bad had happened to you" I
Asher's povAfter I was discharged from the hospital, I was given some painkillers and other medication to take home. I discussed with Liam about changing our hotel and we agreed that it was best not to return to the hotel where Lucy already has access. So, we agreed to continue our honeymoon in another hotel in Munich, a different city from Berlin so as to be on the safe side. Liam also changed his phone number so that Lucy couldn't contact him anymore. This whole experience had been extremely stressful and scary, but I was relieved that we were taking steps to stay safe.Though Liam's father offered to provide a bodyguard, we declined the offer, as we also need our privacy. We made sure that our new hotel and Liam's new number were kept secret, only revealing the information to our closest family members. Liam told me his favorite cousin, who was unable to attend our wedding due to a business trip, would be visiting us soon. I was disinclined at first for Liam to tell her about our
Asher's pov"What I wanted to tell you is that I love you" I lied, my lips were shaking as the lie spilled from it. He looked directly into my eyes as if to search for the truth in my words.I had tried to tell him the truth but the words weren't coming. I found it hard to voice out the truth and tell him about my past because the shame was overwhelming."I just want to appreciate the love you have been showing me ever since we got married" I said softly, my voice wavering. Although my words were true but it's just a substitute of the truth I am afraid to voice out at the moment. "I knew how much you loved Lucy but you still chose to stay with me and respect our marriage vows, I'm so grateful for that" I said, my heart twisting in guilt."Are you really sure that this is what you wanted to tell me?" He asked, his tone heavy with meaning. I felt like a liar and I knew he could see it through my eyes."Yes" I said, my voice soft ."Alright babe, I love you too and I had never regretted
Asher's povI was about to tell Liam the truth about why I had agreed to the arranged marriage when my father's Cal interrupted me."I have to pick this call, it's my dad" I said and he nodded positively. I was used to keeping my phone on speaker and since it was my dad that was calling,I saw no reason to put it on silent. I just answered the call."Hello dad" I said, my voice calm."Hello sweetheart," my father replied. "How are you and your husband?" He asked with so much concern in his voice."We are doing well sir" I answered with a smile."Dr. Xavier mentioned that you two refused to have a bodyguard," my father said, his voice tinged with concern. "Why didn't you want to take the extra security?"Although we didn't tell them about Lucy, Liam's ex, and the threats she'd made. We only told them about the men who had attacked me at the hotel, telling them we have no idea of who they are. Dr. Xavier, Liam's father, had suggested we have extra security due to the attack."Dad, we wil
If not for Stanley's earnest pleas on Liam's behalf, Asher might never have answered Liam's desperate calls. But when she learned of Elizabeth's dire condition, all previous animosity dissipated into thin air.Almost breathless with panic, Asher demanded the hospital's address, leaving Liam little to no time to beg for her presence. Her maternal instincts kicked into overdrive, and she was already making a beeline for the hospital before Liam could even thank her."Baby please, eat at least two spoons." Liam said as he tried to coax Elizabeth into taking a bite of the food, her lips stayed sealed in stubborn defiance. Even as he gently spoon fed her, she turned her head away, refusing to eat."I've called your mother and she will soon be here." He said, his tone soft but firm. Elizabeth's silence spoke volumes, conveying her hurt and her obstinacy in the face of Liam's efforts. The spoon hit the tray with a clatter, signaling Liam's frustration and resignation. At that moment, he felt
"Elizabeth" Liam screamed, his voice quivering with shock as he entered his house and only to beheld his daughter, motionless on the ground. He rushed to her, shook her motionless body in a desperate attempt to awaken her but she was just still.Elizabeth had been starving herself, in the aftermath of Asher's departure. She ignored her meals, and couldn't stop crying every day. Her eyes had remained puffy and red from the endless hours of weeping each day. Liam's plea for her to eat only fell on deaf ears, as she would still refuse all food, even her favorite food because of her mother being absent. In a flurry of panic, he scooped her up and rushed to his car, speeding to the hospital, ignoring the jeers of the onlookers, his entire being was focused on one thing, getting his darling daughter to the doctors before it was too late. As Liam sprinted into the hospital with Elizabeth's limp body slung over his shoulder, his panic trumped all protocol. Emergency room nurses, instantly d
In the opulent setting of Stanley's luxurious residence, Liam relaxed on an exquisite couch, his eyes fixated on the pristine glass of wine on the table as he patiently waited for Stanley to return from the washroom.Stanley had called him, inviting him to a small party at his house which he said they would be having with one of his friends. With eager anticipation, Liam anticipated the arrival of their guest."My apologies, Liam, for keeping you waiting." Stanley said with a smile as he walked back to the sitting room, taking his seat next to Liam."No problem, I'm enjoying the ambiance." Liam replied, smiling back."Our guest should be here any moment." Stanley said, as he picked up the remote and turned up the volume on the TV, allowing the actors' dialogues to fill the room."Who is this your friend and why the party, what is the party for? I don't understand." Liam asked."Don't worry friend, it's meant to be a surprise. You will know her when she comes." "Her." Liam asked, confu
The room practically crackled with tension as Liam and Asher exchanged heated words. Liam's face was flushed with fury, as he raged at Asher for hiding her past as a lesbian while in school. He stood like an immovable mountain, resistant to her pleas for understanding. But Asher, after exhausting her efforts to plead with Liam, had reached her breaking point. She stood her ground, matching Liam's ferocity word for word. "This happened before you met me". She said, her voice raised in anger."Have you ever caught me in such an act since we got married." Liam's words were bullets, piercing Asher's soul with every sentence. "You kept this your dirty secret from me, your husband." he seethed, his eyes blazing with hurt and anger. "The woman was even blackmailing you, demanding money in exchange for her silence, and you've been paying her off all this time without me knowing?" His words shook with rage, his hands clenched into fists at his sides."Liam, I know I should have told you abo
"I'm only asking for a small sum of money, and here you are, making such a scene." Pearl said, her voice raised. Her anger ranged as she confronted Asher in her own home, using the compromising photos as leverage."Do you think I came here to joke or play with you? I came to reveal your dirty secret to your husband, but God seems to be on your side today. However, I won't leave without what I came for. Hand over that money, or your secret will no longer be safe with me.""Pearl, to you, a hundred million dollars is a small amount of money? Pearl, are you in your right senses" Asher said, her face hardened with frustration."You are spitting nonsense Asher". Pearl said, her face stern. "If you are not succumbing to my demands, consider your husband being aware of your bad past". She said again, her voice cutting through the air like a whip. The air seemed to thicken with the weight of Pearl's rage as Asher crumbled under the pressure, slumping down onto the nearest chair in defeat. For
Asher's POVMy hands were immersed in a sudsy mountain of laundry when my phone's beep rang out, signaling a new message. I glanced at my phone's screen and saw that the message that came in was from Pearl and it read "I need to discuss something very important with you, and I would like you to come to my house to discuss it."My mind whirred with possibilities as to what she could be talking about, nothing coming to mind that couldn't be discussed via text or call. Anxiously, I dialed her number to find out if it could be discussed over the phone. The call went unanswered at first, but my persistence paid off when Pearl finally picked up. There was no friendly greeting or small talk, only her urgent message, "I'll send you my home address. It's very serious please." She ended the call after that before I could even utter a word.My mind raced with questions as I rushed to finish my laundry, speeding through the last stages of my cleaning routine. As I started to dress, a text from P
Liam's heart rate spiked as he walked into the sitting room, stunned to find the very woman whose identity he had been clamoring for, chatting with Asher in their house. His jaw dropped as if the world had suddenly tilted on its axis.Standing up with a warm smile, Pearl greeted him, but Liam's response was chilly at best, sending an icy chill through the room. Asher, caught in the crossfire, found himself quickly whisked away upstairs by a visibly agitated Liam, leaving Pearl alone to contemplate the reasons behind Liam's coldness."What is she doing here, and remember you haven't told me who she is?" Liam said, his face stern."Baby, like I told you earlier, Pearl is my old friend. I had wanted to tell you what had transpired between us, but you've been so busy lately." Her words hung in the air as Liam absorbed their meaning, his expression a mix of confusion and suspicion."We had a terrible fight before graduation, which was why I reacted so poorly when I saw her." She lied, her
Asher's POVAs I reclined in the comfort of my room, my daughter, Elizabeth, hurriedly entered with a look of bewilderment etched on her face. "Mom". She said "There is someone at the door asking for you," she said her voice laced with perplexity. "It's a woman, and she looks like that strange aunty we met at Uncle Stanley's birthday party. I think it's that aunty Pearl". Her eyes, wide with surprise, revealed the flutter of curiosity that stirred within her.On hearing Pearl's name, panic gripped my soul, and I sprung from the bed with haste. A silent prayer ascended from my heart, a plea that it wasn't her after all. And as I dashed downstairs, my heart racing in anxious fear, I was thankful that Liam wasn't around. If Pearl had indeed graced my doorstep, Liam's presence would have ignited a storm of trouble. My feet carried me swiftly to the living room, where my worst fears were confirmed. Pearl was already sitting comfortably, her very presence an unwelcome enigma. How did she di
Elizabeth's POVMy heart was racing as I approached my father. "Dad," I said, my voice shaking slightly with nerves. He turned from his TV program and smiled at me. "How are you, darling?" he asked, his voice calm and gentle.I'm scared the conversation might not turn out well, but I had to push through the discomfort. I had become desperate to ask him why he had such a negative view of female relationships. To him, it seemed that any sign of closeness between women was automatically seen as lesbianism. I need to understand why he had been so judgmental and narrow minded. My mind raced for the right words, but my mouth remained stubbornly silent. I took a deep breath, willing the words to come out. "I'm fine, dad," I replied, my voice still slightly trembling. "I want to ask you something." I managed to say.My father seemed to sense the gravity of my words and adjusted his seat to face me directly. "Of course, sweetheart," he said, his brows slightly furrowed in concern. "What is it
