My breath hitched as I gazed into his eyes. Those beautiful green orbs were fixated on me, so captivating, so intense.

His eyes roam my face, and my heart pounded in my chest. Did he mean it?

He groaned and nibbled on my earlobe. “Say something,” he whispered, his voice Husky; a whimper escapes me as I met his gaze. I was as scared as I was speechless. I cleared my throat and nodded slowly. His grip tightened around my waist. “Use your words,” he murmured, resting his head on my forehead. “I want to hear your words, baby girl.”

I swallowed hard, my throat suddenly dry. Dominic's closeness, his touch, and the moment's intensity overwhelmed me. But I couldn't let fear hold me back.

“I… I want that too, Dominic,” I finally managed to say, my voice trembling but determined. “Yes,” I replied, though all I wanted to tell him was, “I want us to be real. I don't want this to be just a contract. I want you, all of you.”

Dominic's eyes lit up with relief and joy, and he kissed me deeply

DominicLife has been good. It's been a week since Savannah and I agreed to be officially husband and wife. The contract I gave her to sign was torn up, but my father's remains. That will go, too. Soon.My eyes drift to Savannah, sitting next to me, wearing a floral dress that stops mid-thigh, and her hair flows loosely around her neck. I want to run my hands through those curves of hers. I'm currently driving her to her mother's house.Noticing me staring, she looks at me with those beautiful eyes, and my breath hitches. She smiles at me with a blush creeping up her cheeks. “Why are you staring at me like that?”I can't help but chuckle softly at her question. “Because you're stunning, Savannah,” I reply, my gaze still fixed on her. “I can't get enough of looking at you.”She rolls her eyes playfully, her blush deepening. “You are too interesting, Dominic.” I chuckle as I stop the car on the highway. She looks at me with wide eyes. “Why are you stopping?”I look at her like she's grow

SAVANNAH“Okay, can you start with Evans?” I ask, leaning forward and giving her my full attention. She sighed. “I knew that was where you were going to start.” She wrenched her hands together. “Did you speak to him about it?”“I did,” I hesitate to tell her the truth. “He was angry and said some things,” she looks over at me, and I clarify, “Not bad stuff. He's just lost right now; knowing what he thought was true all these years can be tough.”She looks at the wall. "I understand. I never said he wasn't my son because I always thought he saw; I never saw him as different,” she looks at me. “Evan was the one that taught me love before I even got pregnant with you.”My heart squeezes in my chest. “Whose son is he?” I ask, leaning forward and giving her my full attention.“Albert. He was the man I met after your father. Evans was a kid when his mom had just walked away from him and his father. However, Albert wanted more. I could only offer him friendship, and he appreciated it,” she sm

DOMINIC My eyes drift down to Savannah sleeping on my lap. I had just picked her up from her mother's place, and she was still sleeping. I guess she's tired, especially with everything that has happened over the last few days. It's a good thing my driver joined me, so I'm in the back seat as I watch my wife sleep. She's beautiful.I put the privacy screen up and ran my finger through her hair slowly. She's breaking down every wall I had built around me, and that's terrifying.I bend down slightly and place a kiss on her forehead. She stirs in my arms. Yeah, I'm a goner for her. My phone pings, and I look down to see a message from Chris.Chris: Remember, there's someone whose name starts with a C and ends with an S that has been your friend for years.A chuckle escapes me. He can be so dramatic when he wants to be. I hit call since I'm enjoying the feel of Savannah's skin under my palms. He answers on the first ring. “What?”“Did you manage to have some fun yet?” I ask, knowing it wil

Sophia**I'm sitting in my Dad's office, anxiously waiting for him. He's refused to see me for the past few days, and it's painful that Mom isn't even aware of the situation. The door handle jiggles, and it swings open. Dad enters, his expression a mix of curiosity and concern as he locks eyes with me. He walks over to his desk and takes a seat. “What's going on here?”I muster a tight smile. “Dad.” He gazes at me, sits across from me, and places some files on the table. I reach out to hold his hand, but he withdraws it abruptly. “I'm sorry.”“You're sorry?” Dad questions, studying me closely. “Tell me, Sophia, what compelled you to do what you did?”I lower my head and clasp my hands together, feeling the weight of my actions bearing down on me. “I'm sorry. I admit that what I did was wrong. I wasn't thinking, and I just acted.”“You weren't thinking, Sophia?” Dad interlaces his fingers and leans forward. “Explain this to me. You left home after we spoke and confronted the board membe

Savannah**It's been three months since I started working at the Marshall's, and so far, everything has been good. They still haven't found out who hit my car, and honestly, it bothers me. But I don't let it show, not wanting to stress Dominic, who, by the way, still pays his regular visits to my office. We've gotten a lot closer, and each time that happens, I fall a little deeper. I know it's dangerous, but I can't seem to help myself. It's the little things he does - making breakfast for me, opening doors, taking me out for dinner, and holding my hand. Not to mention how close he and Mom have gotten since our last visit. She loves him.Although Evan and Mom haven't had the time to discuss what happened thoroughly, they are still working on the little conversations between them. His mom hasn't shown herself yet, making me even more suspicious of her.I'm flipping through the files when I hear noise outside my door. I tilt my head in confusion as to what the noise is about. **Savannah**It's been hectic because I decided to involve myself with the preparation of the Ball fully. Nobody told me these things are wild because the department wants everything to be perfect, which is undoubtedly what will happen.I'm flipping through my files when there's a gentle knock before Marie walks in, holding papers in her hands. “These are the receipts for everything bought, ma'am.” She places them on the table. “The things have started to arrive, and we are yet to find a venue.”“Did you check the Royal Hotel?” I ask as I pick up the receipts and go through them. Each total leaves a sharp pain in my chest.Marie nods. “Yes, ma'am. We've checked at the Royal Hotel, but unfortunately, they have already booked on the date of the Ball.”I sigh, feeling the weight of the preparations on my shoulders. “Alright, let's broaden our search. Check with other upscale hotels, event venues, and even historical estates if needed. We need to find a suitable venue soon.” I tap my chin.

You've never come to my office -not that you aren't welcome or anything – but I'm just surprised.”She laughs. “I know you are.” I beckon her with my hands, and she walks around the desk. Knowing that Mom and Evans—yes, she agreed to come this time—will be here tonight adds even more stress. I nervously rub my hands on the back of my jeans as I walk back into the room, my phone in my hand.“You're going to dig a hole in the ground if you keep on doing that,” I turned to see Janelle looking at me with an annoyed expression. “Come and have a seat,” she motions next to her. “Bill will be here soon.”I sigh heavily. “But what if things don't go as planned—”“Ah ah ah,” she cuts me off. “None of that. Trust that the department will take care of this. SAVANNAH“Come back here!” I yell as I chase after my three-year-old son, who seems to be in the mood for his mischief. “Zion! Get back here!”He runs up the stairs and behind his father. “C’mon baby, let me him go,” my husband says as he looks at me. “I'm sure he didn't mean to.”I glare at him. “Uh-huh, I'm sure he didn't mean to take the cookies I made personally for Thanksgiving.”Dominic's eyes widen as he turns to his son, who throws him a toothy grin. “See?” he says as he looks at his son. “He didn't mean it.” I glare at him; he is a sucker for Zion.I roll my eyes as I stretch out my arms to him. “Give me my daughter,” I say as I smirk at him. “Go downstairs and care for everything else since you want to defend your son. Go ahead and take on the responsibility of cleaning the mess he made.”He pouts. “But I am holding our baby,” he says as he kisses our princess. “C’mon.”I glare at him. “Give her to me. Excited squeals and gasps surround me as I look at our family. “I have to go back in!” I say, pulling the door close leaving the noise outside. My wife needs me.Re-entering, I see our baby boy lying on her chest as they clean her up. She looks up, eyes watering. “Our baby,” she says weakly, and I nod vehemently as I kneel before her bed, “He’s so beautiful,” she says as she looks down at him. I nod as tears trail down my cheeks. “Thank you,” I say, rubbing her head. “Thank you.”“Excuse me, sir, please wait outside.” the nurse asks. I nod. “We’ll call you back in a few minutes.”I place a gentle kiss on her forehead. “I'll be right outside.” Leaning down, I kiss the top of my son’s head and walk outside.I find myself turning and looking at the nurse, picking up the baby and going to clean him, I'm sure. DOMINICThe atmosphere is charged with anticipation as I tap my feet, awaiting her. The space around me echoes the silent suspense. “Should we wait some more?” a voice asks, and I nod tightly, reassuring more myself than the speaker, “She’ll come. She’ll be here soon.”As I contemplate checking my phone, the door swings open, and my pulse goes haywire. She's here. She's adorned in a flowing white dress, eyes glistening as she approaches. I smile softly, and she reciprocates, causing my heart to pound. As she reaches me, she mouths, “I'm sorry.” I shake my head, pulling her into me. “I had cramps.”My concern shows with a frown. “Are you okay? Is it severe?” I hold her at arm’s length. “Is it okay?”She smiles brightly. “Yeah, I'm fine.” She exhales. “Let's do this.”I smile, kissing her forehead before taking my stance beside her. I blink as my eyes adjust to the surroundings, and gasps escape my lips. This is a house in the middle of a field surrounded by flowers of all kinds, a two-story building painted black and white. My lips stretch into a wide grin as the scent of the field and flowers fills the air. “Do you like it?” Dominic asks as he stands behind me. “Is it to your taste?”I whirl around to face him. “Do I like it?!” I ask as I look around, and he nods. “No, I don't.” His face drops, and a broad smile spread across my face. “I freaking love it.”I see him breathe out a sigh of relief. “You had me scared for a second,” he says as he wraps his arms around me and pulls me to him. “This is ours.”My eyes widen as I look at him. “For us? Elizabeth Miller.I'm struggling with my thousands of emotions, a turbulent whirlwind. I've always prided myself on maintaining my resolve to stay clear of Sebastian Knights, and I've succeeded. They say there's a thin line between love and hate, and I've found that true. To release the love I once had for him, I had to blur that line and harbor a deep resentment for him—the man who took everything from me.I shake my head, recalling our conversation the day Savannah shared the news of her pregnancy and the way he looked at me when I discovered he had given me his kidney. He saved my life, and why would he do such a thing? I cling to the notion that he did it for her, not me. Although I believe that, a small part of me questions: What if it was more than just for Savannah? What if he did it for me?I scoff at my thoughts as I step outside, my heart racing as I search for him. Sebastian Knights has always had a knack for breaking down every wall I built, and the hatred I clung to was a

My hands tighten around Savannah, and I pull her closer to me. “There will be no bond for Becca Knights and the rest of the defendants.” I see Evans' jaw clench tight.Aisha turns to us and smiles tightly. I scowl at her, knowing that she might have helped to save Savannah, but she was the reason she was taken in the first place.“Becca Knights is sentenced to a hundred years with no parole and heavy duties.” Becca's eyes widen, and she gasps as she looks at him before her eyes turn to us. I subconsciously pull Savannah closer to me. “Sophia Knights is sentenced to fifteen years in prison with parole.” I see Sophia bow her he

I sigh, feeling a sharp headache, knowing I could've prevented everything.I park the car and rest my head on the steering wheel, the weight of it all pressing on my chest. I could have stopped this. I run my hand down my face and look outside. To my surprise, I'm at the graveyard. I haven't been here in years, but I don't understand why I stayed away. With nothing else to do, I push the car door open and step out. It's still the same as I remember it—quiet and calm. I look around at the graves, and my heart becomes heavy, realizing that these are the final resting places for people with dreams and accomplishments cut short by death. Why do people have to die? Wouldn't it be better if there were somewhere everyone goes after growing old instead of just disappearing?Pushing those thoughts aside, I walk throu
