Chapter 6

The next day, I got up and went towards the washroom to complete my morning chores. I took a relaxing shower and came out of the washroom. I took out my pencil skirt of 3/4th length and paired it with a white blouse. I tied my hair into a ponytail and applied a little bit of makeover. I completed my look with a 3 inch wedge heel. 

It was already 7am and I went towards the kitchen and prepared a mug of coffee for me. I saw Jade walking towards the living area from her room with a big yawn, a little bit of stretching of her jaw and I am sure that she will definitely tear her mouth till her ears. I was just looking at her and she also looked at me. 

She scanned me from head to toe and kept staring. 

“The bitch is ready to meet the guy who bedded her the first time, ha ha ha”, she started teasing me in the morning only. 

“Ha ha ha very funny. Oh, I can’t control my laughter. Ha ha ha”, I gave her a sarcastic reply. 

“Jokes apart, how are you feeling?” she asked me. 

“I don’t know what he wants from me or he even considers me worth giving time to. I got to see. Whatever it is, my main aim is the job. I have to find a way to earn some money, so that I stop slacking in the apartment. It is very difficult to just rely on you for my share of bills”, I said with a serious tone. 

“Oh, come on girl. You can always rely on me. So you really need to work there? Can’t you find any other job?”, she started going all mama bear on me. 

“What can happen? Nothing, right? And moreover, we just spent a night in a drunken state and I have forgotten about it”, I said not looking at her and she knows very well about what being intimate with someone meant to me. 

I was saving myself for someone who is worth the wait. I mean, why else would I keep my V-card intact till now? Jade knew very well I was lying my ass off. She didn't pressurize much about the topic any further. I just had my coffee and left towards the office. I left early because I had so many thoughts running in my mind. 

I made my way in a slow pace towards the office, as I had all the time in the world. I reached the office at around 8.30am and the interview was scheduled at 10am. I went inside the office and saw that Emmett was sitting and browsing his mobile, behind the desk. I went towards him and greeted him. 

He looked at me with a surprise and I believe he did jump up from his seat as well. I guess he is not used to friendly greetings and addresses. He might have thought me as one of those people who go to him for some information. 

“Ye . . .  yes. . . . Hi . . . How may I help you?”, he jumped from the seat, like literally. 

“Relax Emmett. . . It is just me, Lilian from yesterday. You do remember me right?”, I asked by chuckling because of his reaction. 

“Oh . . .  yes . . . yes . . . hi Lilian. How are you doing?”, he asked me in return, still with a shocking expression. 

“Relax man. I am doing good thank you. I guess you might need some time to feel good as well. . anyways, I just wanted to greet you. Take care then. I will meet you later”, I said and left towards the same floor as before. 

“Lilian, I guess you did get selected for the final round of interviews today. Sorry for my reaction. I was a bit startled. Anyways, all the best for today’s interview” he replied and I waved him a thankyou and left my way towards the elevator. 

I was waiting for the elevator to reach my floor and I was alone at that time. I felt someone come and stand beside me. I just was minding my own business when I felt some warm breath brush against my skin. 

“Hi again”, I heard him say. 

I literally jumped from my place to some distance away from him. He was chuckling and I was in the same condition as Emmett, before. I calmed myself down and held my hand against my chest and looked at him. It is him again, Richard Matthews, my CEO. What is wrong with him?

“He. . . hello. . .sir. . . good morning,” I said with great difficulty. 

He stood there staring at me. He looked at me for a while and left his way towards the elevator, as it was already here and had dinged open. I calmed myself down and entered the elevator. To my bad luck, I was alone with him inside the elevator and we had a long way to go. 

I leaned onto the right corner of the elevator and rested my head on the elevator wall. It started ascending and I was really fidgeting in my place. One, because I don’t know what I said or done that night, and two, because he is my boss and I will be working for him from now on. 

Is it too late to run away from here? No Lilian, you are not a coward, and you will stand and face the consequences. I consoled myself and finally relaxed a bit. 

“So, you know who I am, and so tell me what do you need now for me to get you again for a night?” he asked me by turning towards me. 

I was shocked because of his question. What did he mean by his question of my request for sleep with him again? Does he consider me as a prostitute or something?

I looked at him with a serious look. “What do you mean mister Matthews?”, I asked him with gritting teeth. 

He was just looking at me with amusement. “Oh come on, don’t act like you don’t know what I meant. You know very well what I asked of you, right?”, he said with a relaxed tone. 

“As per my information, women love it when they get something in return after sleeping with me, the billionaire CEO, the most eligible bachelor in town and also one of the top 10 handsome men in the whole world”, he said to me. 

I was looking at him and was trying to understand what exactly was happening here. He considers himself as some God on earth and women should feel happy and blessed to sleep with him. Of God, he is so full of himself. I rolled my eyes at him. 

“Let me make something clear to you Mr Matthews. It is not like you are some God on earth and some greatest deal in the world. Don’t flatter yourself. It is true that you are a handsome looking guy, but that doesn’t mean that you think with your genitals, rather than your head”, I snapped at him. 

He was just staring at me like I am an alien. Luckily, the elevator dinged on my floor and I exited the elevator and went towards the same conference area. I checked the time and it was already 9.15am. I was sitting and waiting in the waiting area and the fellow candidates started coming. I had decided that I will work the job, if I get it with my qualification, and if I lose this job for what happened in the elevator, then to hell with him and his company. 

The interview started and it went smoothly. It was already 12pm and the interview was concluded. They told us that they will get back to us within two or three days and will give us a call or mail us regarding the results of the interview. I went towards the elevator and waited for it to reach my floor. 

Finally, I was inside the elevator and there were many others going to or coming from different floors. I just stood at the end of the elevator and leaned against the wall. I was thinking about many things at that moment. 

If I get selected, then I will think that he is not that petty and has made the right decision, without bringing his ego into the play. However, if I get a mail regarding the selection being nullified because of some bizarre reason, then I will just forget about everything and move on and never ever think about this job or him anymore. 

I reached the ground floor and went my way towards the exit area. I reached the parking lot and went my way towards my apartment. It was just 2pm and I had plenty of time to kill till Jade arrived. I started browsing through the job portals and found some openings. I started applying for the corporate jobs and started noting down the jobs that said they need help waiting on customers or managing them in some corporate hotels. 

I thought about having some light meal and went towards the kitchen area. I prepared oatmeal for me and poured a glass of coffee for me. I went towards the living area and switched on the TV. I started browsing in netflix to find a series to watch, but my mind was in the interview and its results. I didn’t have the mood to watch anything, and so I had my lunch and switched off the TV and went towards my room and dozed off.
