Jayden
The night air felt very cold and it was biting, even though it was still very early in the evening. I walked down the sidewalk on the left, hands shoved deep inside my jacket pockets, head down and I was lost in thought. The weight of the night before sat heavily on my chest. I had done it. I had thrown Katherine away like she was nothing, just another notch in the long list of women i hadused to feed my ego. She had been a stepping stone, a way to keep the image of the perfect life intact. But now? She was no longer of use to me. Now, everything was in shambles.
My mind was a simply a jumbled mess, one thought crashing itself onto the next. I had dumped Katherine, fought off any trace of hesitation to end things, but why did it feel like one of the few wrong choices I had ever made? Part of me had expected a bit of relief, but instead, all I felt was an insatiable bitterness, gnawing away at me from the inside out.
Katherine’s father had recently been arrested. It was a scandal, and it should have been satisfying, right? I never really liked the man anyways—always so pompous, so sure of himself, acting like he owned the world just because he had the money. But the arrest wasn’t the triumph he had expected. It wasn’t sweet at all. It only made matters worse. After the humiliation at the anniversary party, now this? Katherine’s life was in ruins, and I couldn’t escape the nagging voice in my head telling me that I had helped push her to the edge.
Then, there was Emilia.
She had once been mine. I ha dher wrapped around my finger. I had controlled her, manipulated her into staying by my side, just like all the other women. But she had escaped me. She had broken free. Now, she was married to Richard Kane, and no matter how much I told myself everything was fine, that I didn’t care, deep down, a part of me wanted to destroy everything
that bastard Richard had built. But the deeper truth was, it wasn’t just Emilia I had lost. It was power. It was control. And I merely hated the fact that, despite everything I had done, she was out of my reach now. Well if I can't have her, no one else could
By the time I reached the bar, I could feel the anger bubbling under my skin. I was restless, tense, my stomach felt like it was tied in knots. The streets were dim and the sounds of cars and people filling the night air. It was really annoying. But the city noise faded into the background as I pushed through the bar’s firm and heavy doors, the warmth and buzz of the place hitting me just immediately.
I really didn’t care about the atmosphere. I didn’t care about the music. All I cared about right now was simply drowning the thoughts, drowning the pent up frustration. I headed straight to the bar, sitting on the nearest stool, ignoring the friendly banter of the bartender who tried to greet me, I wasn'there for chit chat.
“Something strong,” I muttered, my voice hoarse.
The bartender didn’t ask any questions, just grabbed the bottle and poured. I didn’t even flinch as the glass was placed in front of him. I just downed it in one go.
And then, the memories came flooding in. The memories of Emilia’s face, her smile, the way she had looked at me back then. She had been so trusting, so naive. But now? Now she was practically untouchable. She now belonged to Richard Kane. And that was a part of the problem. Richard Kane had everything a man could ever dream of having power, money, respect and now, Emilia. I couldn’t understand how she had gone from being mine to being... his.
I ordered another drink, this time a whiskey. It burned on the way down, but it didn’t burn enough. It didn’t numb the deep ache in his chest.
After a couple more drinks, the bar around me started to blur. People laughed and shouted, but none of it made an impression on me at all. I was lost in my own spiral of absolute bitterness, self-loathing, and anger. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. I had always been in control. But now, I was losing everything. My power, my relationships, everything was slipping through my fingers.
Then, out of nowhere, a guy approached. I had noticed him earlier, some young guy with a wide smile and a bit too much confidence for his own good. He was hitting on some girl at the bar, and when he saw me, he gave him a once-over.
“Hey, man,” the guy said, leaning in. “You’re looking kind of down. I think maybe you should you know, let loose. Take a shot and chillax.”
I looked at him, my mind foggy with alcohol, and the anger surged up once more. Who the hell was this guy? The gall of him, trying to tell me what to do.
The girl the guy was talking to shot me an apologetic look, but I wasn’t exactly in the mood to be nice.
“You better stay the hell away from her,” I snapped, my voice low but venomous.
The guy raised an eyebrow, seemingly amused. “What’s the matter, buddy? You got a problem huh?”
I didn’t even think. The alcohol was clouding my judgment, pushing me past the point of reason. I stood up quickly, shoving the guy’s shoulder, hard. “I said stay the hell away.”
The guy laughed, but that wasn’t a laugh of humor. No, It was a laugh of challenge. And that’s when things went sideways. The next thing I knew, the guy’s fist connected with my jaw, sending me stumbling back. I gripped the edge of the bar, his head spinning as the pain shot through him like an electric current.
“Come on, you want to fight? Then fight,” the guy taunted, stepping toward him.
I wiped my mouth, feeling the sting of the blood trickling from my lip. I was so damn tired of everything. Tired of feeling like I had to prove my all the time. But the guy wasn’t done at all. Before I could react, another punch landed in my stomach, knocking the wind out of me. My knees buckled, and I hit the floor real hard, my vision blurring.
The bartender rushed over, yelling at the guy to leave, and a few other patrons helped drag me off the floor. But all I could do was laugh bitterly. This was his my now. Simply beaten and broken.
After a few minutes, I stumbled to my feet, swaying slightly, still dazed. I wasn’t going to let this bother me—this was just the reality of where I was now.
Walking home was a slow, painful process. Every step felt like an eternity. My thoughts weren’t any clearer than they had been before, but something about the physical pain grounded me. As I trudged down the sidewalk, the city lights blurred, their brightness mixing with the fog in my brain.
This was the life I had built. Empy and utterly slone. I have been chasing after power, after control, and now I was left with nothing. And now that whore Emilia was gone, married to Richard. I had thrown Katherine aside like a piece of trash that she honestly is and now she was probably drowning in the mess she had helped create.
But as much as I hated it, he couldn’t ignore the bitter truth.
It was then that a voice pulled my from my spiraling thoughts. A woman standing on her balcony, in the apartment next to mine, called out to me, “Hey, Jayden, you okay?”
I looked up, squinting to see her face in the dim light. It was one of his neighbors. She’d always been flirtatious, always giving me these sideways glances when they crossed paths in the building.
“You look like you could use some company,” she said, her voice teasing. “Want to come over?”
I felt the bitterness swell in mr once more, thanks to her, but this time, it wasn’t aimed at my. It was aimed at everything. At everything Katherine had ruined. I needed something to fill the emptiness, something to make me feel alive again.
Without saying a word, I nodded, walking toward her door. I didn’t care about the consequences anymore. I didn’t care about what was right or wrong. All I cared about was the fleeting escape, the temporary satisfaction of forgetting everything.
And so, I entered her apartment, knowing that tomorrow would bring nothing but more pain, more regret. But for now, in the moment, it was all I had left.
But as the door clicked shut behind me, deep down, I knew it wasn't going to be enough. Nothing ever would be.
KatherineThe atmosphere around me felt really damp with silence in the aftermath of Jayden’s hurtful and bitter words. It was as if the whole world had frozen right around me, and all that remained was the bitter sting of raw rejection.I sat on the edge of the bed, my phone clutched very tightly in my hand. As my fingertips hovered over the screen, trembling ever slightly as I stared at Jayden's name. Why did it feel like I was holding onto a lifeline that was slipping away from me? Why?I dialed his number again and again,, for the hundredth time, hoping, praying that this time, he’d answer. But he just refused to.The call went straight into voicemail.I stared at the screen for a long moment before finally deciding to leave another message. The words came out even more shakier than I intended."Jayden, please… pick up. Pick up the bloody phone. I don’t understand. You can’t just walk away like this. You simply can't. Not after everything we’ve been through. Please, don’t do this
EmiliaThe morning was chill and filled with promise as I walked into the office, my steps were super confident, I held my head up high. It had been a while since I had felt like she truly belonged here, but today, something definitely felt different. The whispers from the other staff had faded. I could see the way people looked at me now, with total and absolute respect, and perhaps even a bit of admiration. The change was palpable and I liked it. Jayden was nowhere to be found, and neither was Katherine. They were probably hiding their faces dey to the shame and total embarrassing situation the had faced in multiple occasions. It was as though the storm they had caused had passed, and the calm was after a long time finally setting in. Iwalked in through the office, greeting a few employees who waved or nodded at me. Emilia“What the hell is going on, Jayden?” I asked sharply.I couldn't believe my eyes, even after stepping in here.I could hardly believe it hours ago when Bae had called and told me that she'd spotted him entering what was a supposed celebration in a grand hotel at the other end of the city when he'd claimed to have travelled for work. Despite my doubts I had come here abd she was right. The company he worked for, Kane Group was having a company wide gala and he hadn't told me.But that wasn't the worst part. No. Because as I had rushed in her I saw him.Jayden, my boyfriend of six years, wrapped around so comfortably with another woman.I felt the urge to vomit. Now, pulled away from the crowd he remained unresponsive, not even flinching from my question, instead his brown eyes narrowed and a hint of annoyance became evident. He looked at me as if I didn’t belong here in the first place. Like I didn't have the right to ask why on earth he was at a company party he told me absolut
EmiliaI wasn't alone. My heart skipped a beat as I noticed the warmth and the faint sound of breathing that wasn't me. Panic surged through me as I whipped my head to my side to find an equally naked man beside me.Dark, messy hair covered the top half of his features and sharp, angular features that made him look like he had stepped out of a magazine.‘Snap out of it Emilia,’ I mentally slapped myself blinking back to reality. There were too many questions in my head. I tried to recall the entire day, but the last thing I remembered was talking to Jayden and then moving to the bar. Everything else was so…fuzzy after.Had I …spoken to someone?Frustration built up in me. I didn't know what the hell happened after and that was the key to understanding this. It definitely couldn't have been the alcohol considering my tolerance and that meant someone had done something to me. Like drugging me.And now I was naked with a man I'd never met.I was so lost in my thoughts that the moment I f
ONE MONTH LATERRichardI’d re-watched the footage so many times that I knew every detail, yet in the silence of my office I clicked the mouse once more. The hotel footage from a month ago replayed itself. In the dim lighting of the hallway, a dark grainy figure stumbled and swayed while still rushing in what looked like panic as she used the wall to balance herself. Then after a short pause she found the door that led to my hotel room.I paused right at the moment before she stumbled inside, into what was my hotel room. My gaze traced her figure, immortalized in that single frame.A mix of frustration and longing ignited within me.It's been a month since that night, and yet, no matter how much I analyzed the footage, I couldn’t look away. This wasn’t how I expected things to happen. I was very detailed about my life, careful with every move I made. And yet, in just a single night, everything had spiraled out of control because someone had dared to drug me.And then there was her.Al
EmiliaSomething was wrong. It was jarring. Things weren't supposed to be this way and for the most part, it was.Freedom felt good . It had been a month since Jayden's breakup with me and I had been thriving. I'd realized it after taking on the first five jobs within only two days of re-entering the job market. All this time, albeit unconsciously, I had been subduing herself. It all started years ago because of what Jayden used to tell me. I had graduated with better honors and opportunities than him but because of his insecurity, I took low level jobs to not make him feel bad and kept supporting him. Now I realized what a stupid mistake I'd made. In pushing myself down he had thought I was lower than him.Without Jayden dragging me down, I’d made waves in my freelance career. Jobs surprisingly kept piling up and for the first time in years, I felt like I was actually progressing. I was happier than ever in life.Until the symptoms started. At first it was just simple exhaustion and
EmiliaIt wasn’t a question.I couldn't answer him, but my silence was enough of an answer. He continued looking at me and his stare grew more unnerving. Shutting my eyes I came back to my senses.“It's none of your business. Y-you shouldn't have barged into my home. Leave now,” I snapped, trying to pull him away despite my racing heart. He didn't budge. Instead his sharp gaze lingered on me.“It is my business. It’s our child, after all,” he said, freezing me in place.I held back the urge to flinch at his words. Unable to pull him away I took several steps back. How was he so calm about this? Mentioning my pregnancy so calmly. I didn't even know him!“What are you doing here?’ I huffed, trying to regain my composure, “How on earth is Richard Kane in my house?”“So you do know who I am.”A wave of embarrassment rose to my cheeks as his lips curled into a smirk. Nevermind that if you only found out recently.A sigh left his lips.“And to think that I came here for something else. You'
EmiliaThe last thing I wanted on my first day at Kane Group was to run into Jayden. But of course, fate had a twisted sense of humor. It was almost as if the universe had conspired to test my patience, throwing me directly into the path of the last person I wanted to see.Standing in the hallway like he owned the place, Jayden turned at the sight of me, his brows furrowing in confusion before morphing into something even more insufferable—amusement.“What the hell are you doing here?” he asked, his tone a mixture of surprise and arrogance.I met his gaze without hesitation, keeping my expression calm, uninterested. “What do you mean, ‘what the hell am I doing here’?” I asked nonchalantly, as if his presence was nothing more than a minor inconvenience in my otherwise pleasant day.His lips curled into a smirk. “Oh, no, wait…” He took a step closer, tilting his head. “Are you here because of me?”The sheer confidence in his voice made my fingers twitch with the urge to wipe that smug g

Katherine I stormed right into Richard’s office with fury and determination, my heels clicking furiously against the floor. My blood was seriously boiling with rage, and my hands clenched into fists. Emilia was seated across from Richard, her face was calm—way too calm—like she hadn’t just destroyed my family and it made me even more pissed off."You!" I spat, pointing a finger right at her. "You did this! You got my father arrested! Didn't you?"Emilia blinked twice, taken aback, but before she could even speak, Richard stood up defending her."Katherine, that is enough." His voice was cold, firm. But I wasn't going to let him intimidate me, he was in on it since she was his wife.I turned to him, my jaw tightening. "You’re defending her? After everything she’s done? Of course, you're defending her, you both conspired against him."Richard sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Your father’s arrest has nothing to do with Emilia. Would you just chill out, are you forgetting who yo
KatherineIt was Monday morning, and it was a depressing sunny day.I sighed as I approached the towering glass building of Kane Group. It has been three days, three days had passed since that humiliating disaster at the company's anniversary party, yet the whispers and never ending lingering stares still followed me like a shadow behind my back and it was annoying. It was a nightmare a complete and total catastrophe for me.Jayden’s name was on everyone’s lips, and not even for the right reasons and neither was mine. He had been utterly humiliated, and by extension, so had I. The thought made my blood boil. I was still furious mostly at that bitch named Emili. She stole my spotlight. But I wouldn’t let them see me flinch.Straightening my shoulders, I lifted my chin and stepped inside. As expected, the moment I entered, all eyes turned to me. The air just starting buzzing with murmurs, hushed low whispers that weren’t even subtle at all. I could feel their judgment crawling over my s
Emilia The air was still thick with tension from Richard’s announcement. I could feel the weight of a hundred eyes on us, watching, whispering, speculating. But none of it mattered—not when Richard stood beside me, his hand resting protectively on my waist, his presence a shield against the storm. The music had resumed, a slow, elegant tune filling the grand ballroom. The murmur of conversation was back, but there was an undeniable shift in the atmosphere.Richard had claimed me in front of everyone. And now, the world saw me not just as Emilia, the once-forgotten fiancée of Jayden Turner, but as his wife. And the mother of his child.I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. My heart was still racing from the kiss he had given me earlier—possessive, deliberate, leaving no room for doubt about where we stood. Even now, my lips still tingled from the warmth of his touch, the sensation lingering like an unspoken promise.I turned to look at him, expecting him to be scanning the room like he a
Jayden The murmurs hadn’t stopped. Even as the orchestra resumed its melody and guests returned to their conversations, the energy in the room had shifted.Richard Kane’s announcement had stolen the night.I stood frozen in the middle of the ballroom, my mind racing. Emilia was his wife. She was pregnant with his child. And he had just kissed her in front of everyone, making a clear and public declaration. And the worst part?No one was talking about my engagement to Katherine anymore. The moment that was supposed to cement our status, the carefully planned announcement meant to elevate our position in the company, had been utterly overshadowed. Instead of congratulating me and Katherine, guests whispered amongst themselves about Emilia and Richard.Katherine was fuming beside me, gripping her champagne glass so tightly I thought it might crack. Her lips were pulled into a tight line, and her usual poised demeanor had faltered. “This is ridiculous,” she hissed, keeping her voice low.
JaydenThe ballroom gleamed with opulence, the golden chandeliers casting a warm, regal glow over the sea of sharply dressed guests. Crystal glasses clinked, and the soft hum of polite conversation filled the space. Waiters moved effortlessly between groups, offering expensive champagne and exquisite hors d’oeuvres. The Kane Group’s anniversary gala was more than just a celebration. It was a statement—a display of power, wealth, and influence. A night where the elite of the business world gathered to reaffirm their positions at the top. And tonight, Katherine and I were about to take center stage.I adjusted the cuffs of my tailored black suit, exhaling slowly as I scanned the room. Business moguls, investors, CEOs—all the right people were here. People who understood the value of strategic alliances. People who would recognize what my engagement to Katherine truly meant.. Beside me, Katherine radiated confidence. Her deep red gown hugged her curves, the color bold and deliberate—a q
Richard. The air inside Kane Group buzzed with the usual morning energy—keyboards clacking, phones ringing, employees chatting in hushed voices. But as I strode through the lobby, a different kind of chatter reached my ears.“…can’t believe she’s still here.”“I know, right? She’s acting like she actually belongs in that position.”I didn’t slow my pace, but my jaw clenched slightly. They hadn’t even noticed me approaching.“She probably thinks if she sticks around long enough, Richard Kane will put a ring on her finger.”A round of snickering followed.I stopped beside them, fixing my gaze on the group of employees huddled near the reception area. The moment they realized I was there, their faces drained of color. One of the men—a junior associate from the marketing department—stiffened, his laughter dying instantly. The others quickly averted their gazes, pretending to be suddenly fascinated by their phones or the floor. One of them, a young man I vaguely recognized, cleared his thr
