Emilia
What the hell? What the actual hell?
It was her. It was Katherine who drugged me that night. Now that I actually think about it, it all makes a lot of sense
The realization of this truth hit me like a train, my body stiffening as the pieces came together. I actually thought I was crazy, I kept on questioning myself over and over again about what exactly had happened that night at the club. But now, it all made sense.
I remembered vividly, she had approached me that night, all smiles and she came to mock me. My drink had been right in front of her, and I recalled that I had turned my back at her at some point. That must have been when she did it. That crazy bitch.
I clenched my fists as my breathing became fast. I could not believe it. After everything, she was the one who had drugged me that night, setting everything in motion.
I swallowed hard. Richard.
Had she done it to him too?
He had even accused me once, believing I was the one who spiked his drink. But what if Katherine was the person behind it all? It wouldn’t be surprising. She had always been this manipulative snake, always looking for ways to destroy those she saw as beneath her. She had to pay for this. She must pay for it.
I would make sure of it.
A commotion broke out as two cops dragged Katherine toward the building’s exit. Her screams echoed through the main floor, sharp and filled with lots of desperation.
"You can’t do this to me! Do you have any idea who I am? Let me go!" she shrieked, thrashing wildly in their grip.
But the officers didn’t care. They kept their hold firm, ignoring her tantrum.
I stood still, my eyes following the scene, my heart pounding inside my chest with rage. The noise, the total chaos—it all became too much. My stomach twisted painfully, and I instinctively placed a protective hand over it.
"It's going to be alright, baby," I whispered, my voice soft but firm. "It’s all going to be just alright."
My child. The innocent life growing inside me.
For so long, I had lived in fear, confused and unsure of what really happened that night. But now I knew, and there was no turning back.
And what about Jayden? That ass.
A fresh wave of anger surged through me at the thought of him. Was he involved in this too? It would also make sense. He had always been a conniving, heartless man, willing to do whatever it took to get ahead. If Katherine could go this far, what about him? I'm sure he wouldn't mind getting his hand in the mud as well. I wondered where he was as things escalated. Wherever he was hiding his face, he wouldn't stay there for long
I would get to the bottom of this. I had to.
The ground floor of the company’s building was packed with a whole lot of people, employees kept on stepping out from their offices and gathering around to watch the scene unfold before them. Whispers and murmurs kept spreading through the crowd, like a wildfire consuming dry grass.
"Katherine Smith being arrested? That is not surprising at all," someone said.
I continued to listen in silence.
"I actually never really liked her, she thought she was above us all, now look at who's getting dragged out like absolute T-R-A-S-H" another voice muttered spelling out the word trash out loud. I turned my head over to them and observed.
"She definitely deserves it."
"I said it before, her family has always been up to no good. First it was her father, he embezzled the company’s money for years, and now she’s getting arrested. What did she do? Embezzle even more money?"
A group of four employees burst into hearty laughter at that remark.
I turned sharply and glared at them. My eyes burned with fury, and as soon as they noticed my glare, their laughter died in their throats. The smirks vanished, replaced by stiff, uneasy expressions. Without another word, they quickly dispersed, shuffling away in an instant.
Good.
I wasn’t exactly in the mood to deal with their nonsense. I had bigger things to worry about.
Katherine let out another furious scream as the officers pulled her through the glass entrance. She twisted her body, trying to break free, her face red with rage.
"Richard! Richard, you better tell them to let me go! You know I didn’t do anything!" she cried with desperation, her voice cracking.
Richard stepped forward, his gaze cold and unmoved. His jaw tightened, and when he finally spoke, his tone was like ice.
"Katherine, you confessed with your own mouth. You did this to yourself. Face it."
Her eyes widened in shock. For the first time, she looked truly scared. "N-no, that was just a mistake! I didn’t mean it, I was just angry!"
Richard didn't respond. He only shook his head slightly and looked away, dismissing her completely.
That was it. She had already lost.
As the officers finally shoved her outside, the building’s glass doors closing behind them, silence fell over the crowd. People exchanged glances, some whispering, others shaking their heads in disbelief.
I let out a slow breath, trying to keep myself able and steady.
It was over.
At least for now it is.
I had won this round, but I'm sure that there were still more truths to uncover. I also needed to find out if Jayden had been involved in any way. I needed to know what really happened that night—every single detail, no matter how little.
Because if there was one thing I knew for sure, it was that I wasn’t going to let this go.
Not now. And certainly not ever.
Richard stood in front of the crowd, his towering stance demanding immediate attention. The once and ever buzzing office space, filled with murmurs and whispers, fell into an intense silence the moment he spoke.
"Would everyone kindly go back to their workstations?" His voice was calm but firm, leaving no room for any sort of argument.
There was no hesitation. Employees scrambled back to their desks, their conversations cut short as they hurried away. The power in his words, the sheer authority he held—it was something remarkable to witness. Even I felt an urge to turn and leave, despite knowing I had no reason to.
But then I reminded myself. I wasn’t just another employee.
I was his wife.
Richard stood tall and composed, one hand tucked casually into his pocket. His strong jawline, the way he carried himself with confidence, and the subtle glint of his wristwatch reflecting the office lights—all of it made him look even more intimidating. Yet, despite the cold exterior he often displayed to others, there was a warmth in his eyes as he turned directly to me.
He stepped closer, gently taking my hands in his own. His touch was warm, steadying.
"Are you alright?" he asked, his voice softer now as his fingers brushed against my right cheek.
The tenderness in his touch sent a strange feeling through me, something unfamiliar yet comforting. For a brief moment, I forgot about everything—Katherine’s arrest, the whispers of the employees, the chaos that had just unfolded.
"Y-yes," I stammered, the feeling of an unexpected shyness crept up on me. "I’m okay now."
I tried so hard to compose myself, but the weight of several eyes still lingered around me. Employees passing by stole glances, and side eyes at me, whispering among themselves, their curiosity evident.
Richard, always observant as ever, noticed my discomfort immediately. His sharp gaze swept across the room before he leaned in slightly.
"Let’s go to my office," he said, his tone leaving no room for protest.
Without waiting for my response, he escorted me through the hallways, his hand holding mine firm and tight. Each step we took together made my heart beat faster, but not out of nervousness—out of something else. Something I couldn’t quite put into words yet.
Inside his office, the noise from outside faded into the background. The large windows allowed sunlight to filter in, casting a soft glow over the sleek furniture. Richard didn’t let go of my hand until we were safely inside, away from prying eyes.
For the first time in a long while, I felt safe.
I felt… cared for.
Important.
And above all, I felt loved.
It was a new feeling for me, something I had never truly experienced before. Not from Jayden, not from anyone in my life.
And it was all thanks to Richard Kane.
Jayden was nowhere to be found, not even with all the chaos that had unfolded. And that was good. I don't know how I would've reacted to seeing his face in the middle of all of this mess for all I know, he was in on this conspiracy.
He was actually the last person I needed to see at the moment.
RichardIt had been a long day, but the day was far from over. I had even accused Emilia of drugging me that night, even though she claimed her innocence. It took me a short while but I finally realized how wrong I was. I was happy to find out she was carrying my child. Now, it seemed that Katherine was the one responsible for drugging both of us. Emilia“What the hell is going on, Jayden?” I asked sharply.I couldn't believe my eyes, even after stepping in here.I could hardly believe it hours ago when Bae had called and told me that she'd spotted him entering what was a supposed celebration in a grand hotel at the other end of the city when he'd claimed to have travelled for work. Despite my doubts I had come here abd she was right. The company he worked for, Kane Group was having a company wide gala and he hadn't told me.But that wasn't the worst part. No. Because as I had rushed in her I saw him.Jayden, my boyfriend of six years, wrapped around so comfortably with another woman.I felt the urge to vomit. Now, pulled away from the crowd he remained unresponsive, not even flinching from my question, instead his brown eyes narrowed and a hint of annoyance became evident. He looked at me as if I didn’t belong here in the first place. Like I didn't have the right to ask why on earth he was at a company party he told me absolut
EmiliaI wasn't alone. My heart skipped a beat as I noticed the warmth and the faint sound of breathing that wasn't me. Panic surged through me as I whipped my head to my side to find an equally naked man beside me.Dark, messy hair covered the top half of his features and sharp, angular features that made him look like he had stepped out of a magazine.‘Snap out of it Emilia,’ I mentally slapped myself blinking back to reality. There were too many questions in my head. I tried to recall the entire day, but the last thing I remembered was talking to Jayden and then moving to the bar. Everything else was so…fuzzy after.Had I …spoken to someone?Frustration built up in me. I didn't know what the hell happened after and that was the key to understanding this. It definitely couldn't have been the alcohol considering my tolerance and that meant someone had done something to me. Like drugging me.And now I was naked with a man I'd never met.I was so lost in my thoughts that the moment I f
ONE MONTH LATERRichardI’d re-watched the footage so many times that I knew every detail, yet in the silence of my office I clicked the mouse once more. The hotel footage from a month ago replayed itself. In the dim lighting of the hallway, a dark grainy figure stumbled and swayed while still rushing in what looked like panic as she used the wall to balance herself. Then after a short pause she found the door that led to my hotel room.I paused right at the moment before she stumbled inside, into what was my hotel room. My gaze traced her figure, immortalized in that single frame.A mix of frustration and longing ignited within me.It's been a month since that night, and yet, no matter how much I analyzed the footage, I couldn’t look away. This wasn’t how I expected things to happen. I was very detailed about my life, careful with every move I made. And yet, in just a single night, everything had spiraled out of control because someone had dared to drug me.And then there was her.Al
EmiliaSomething was wrong. It was jarring. Things weren't supposed to be this way and for the most part, it was.Freedom felt good . It had been a month since Jayden's breakup with me and I had been thriving. I'd realized it after taking on the first five jobs within only two days of re-entering the job market. All this time, albeit unconsciously, I had been subduing herself. It all started years ago because of what Jayden used to tell me. I had graduated with better honors and opportunities than him but because of his insecurity, I took low level jobs to not make him feel bad and kept supporting him. Now I realized what a stupid mistake I'd made. In pushing myself down he had thought I was lower than him.Without Jayden dragging me down, I’d made waves in my freelance career. Jobs surprisingly kept piling up and for the first time in years, I felt like I was actually progressing. I was happier than ever in life.Until the symptoms started. At first it was just simple exhaustion and
EmiliaIt wasn’t a question.I couldn't answer him, but my silence was enough of an answer. He continued looking at me and his stare grew more unnerving. Shutting my eyes I came back to my senses.“It's none of your business. Y-you shouldn't have barged into my home. Leave now,” I snapped, trying to pull him away despite my racing heart. He didn't budge. Instead his sharp gaze lingered on me.“It is my business. It’s our child, after all,” he said, freezing me in place.I held back the urge to flinch at his words. Unable to pull him away I took several steps back. How was he so calm about this? Mentioning my pregnancy so calmly. I didn't even know him!“What are you doing here?’ I huffed, trying to regain my composure, “How on earth is Richard Kane in my house?”“So you do know who I am.”A wave of embarrassment rose to my cheeks as his lips curled into a smirk. Nevermind that if you only found out recently.A sigh left his lips.“And to think that I came here for something else. You'
EmiliaThe last thing I wanted on my first day at Kane Group was to run into Jayden. But of course, fate had a twisted sense of humor. It was almost as if the universe had conspired to test my patience, throwing me directly into the path of the last person I wanted to see.Standing in the hallway like he owned the place, Jayden turned at the sight of me, his brows furrowing in confusion before morphing into something even more insufferable—amusement.“What the hell are you doing here?” he asked, his tone a mixture of surprise and arrogance.I met his gaze without hesitation, keeping my expression calm, uninterested. “What do you mean, ‘what the hell am I doing here’?” I asked nonchalantly, as if his presence was nothing more than a minor inconvenience in my otherwise pleasant day.His lips curled into a smirk. “Oh, no, wait…” He took a step closer, tilting his head. “Are you here because of me?”The sheer confidence in his voice made my fingers twitch with the urge to wipe that smug g
EmiliaThe moment I turned to face the gossipers, my gaze locked onto one of the women in particular. Nora.Recognition hit me instantly. It wasn’t just the name—it was the way she carried herself, the sharp cheekbones, the haughty expression, the carefully styled hair that looked like it took an hour to perfect. She looked like her. Katherine. My lips curled slightly. Of course. Wasn’t it always the case? People like Katherine surrounded themselves with others who mirrored their own worst traits. If Katherine was an entitled, manipulative snake, then Nora was her eager apprentice. They are cousins And now, she was standing here, running her mouth about me. How predictable. Nora’s gaze met mine, her brown eyes flashing with something between challenge and curiosity. But just as quickly, she masked it, settling into a smug expression, lips curling into a knowing smirk. She wasn’t expecting me to confront her. I took my time, letting the silence stretch between us, w

KatherineI woke up the next morning feeling like absolute hell. My eyes were still swollen from a lot of crying, my head pounded, and my entire body ached from last night. But I refused to let it show. I was Katherine Smith, and I wasn’t going to let this break me.That bastard Jayden was gone. My father was now in prison. Everyone in the company was whispering behind my back, waiting for me to crumble. But I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction. If Emilia thought she had won, she was dead wrong.I picked myself up, put on my best dress, did my makeup to perfection, and walked into the Kane Group building like I totally owned the place. But I wasn’t just here to work today.I was here to ruin Emilia from the inside out.And I knew exactly who to use.As I stepped into the office, I saw Lucia, one of the lower ranked employees who had a bad habit of poking her nose where it does not belong. She was the type to gossip about literally anything and everything, always eager to spread rumor
EmiliaThe morning was chill and filled with promise as I walked into the office, my steps were super confident, I held my head up high. It had been a while since I had felt like she truly belonged here, but today, something definitely felt different. The whispers from the other staff had faded. I could see the way people looked at me now, with total and absolute respect, and perhaps even a bit of admiration. The change was palpable and I liked it. Jayden was nowhere to be found, and neither was Katherine. They were probably hiding their faces dey to the shame and total embarrassing situation the had faced in multiple occasions. It was as though the storm they had caused had passed, and the calm was after a long time finally setting in. Iwalked in through the office, greeting a few employees who waved or nodded at me. I smiled back, feeling a slight sense of raw peace settle over me.I went through the usual routine of meetings. Richard had arranged for me to meet with some of t
KatherineThe atmosphere around me felt really damp with silence in the aftermath of Jayden’s hurtful and bitter words. It was as if the whole world had frozen right around me, and all that remained was the bitter sting of raw rejection.I sat on the edge of the bed, my phone clutched very tightly in my hand. As my fingertips hovered over the screen, trembling ever slightly as I stared at Jayden's name. Why did it feel like I was holding onto a lifeline that was slipping away from me? Why?I dialed his number again and again,, for the hundredth time, hoping, praying that this time, he’d answer. But he just refused to.The call went straight into voicemail.I stared at the screen for a long moment before finally deciding to leave another message. The words came out even more shakier than I intended."Jayden, please… pick up. Pick up the bloody phone. I don’t understand. You can’t just walk away like this. You simply can't. Not after everything we’ve been through. Please, don’t do this
JaydenThe night air felt very cold and it was biting, even though it was still very early in the evening. I walked down the sidewalk on the left, hands shoved deep inside my jacket pockets, head down and I was lost in thought. The weight of the night before sat heavily on my chest. I had done it. I had thrown Katherine away like she was nothing, just another notch in the long list of women i hadused to feed my ego. She had been a stepping stone, a way to keep the image of the perfect life intact. But now? She was no longer of use to me. Now, everything was in shambles. My mind was a simply a jumbled mess, one thought crashing itself onto the next. I had dumped Katherine, fought off any trace of hesitation to end things, but why did it feel like one of the few wrong choices I had ever made? Part of me had expected a bit of relief, but instead, all I felt was an insatiable bitterness, gnawing away at me from the inside out.Katherine’s father had recently been arrested. It was a scanda
Katherine I stormed right into Richard’s office with fury and determination, my heels clicking furiously against the floor. My blood was seriously boiling with rage, and my hands clenched into fists. Emilia was seated across from Richard, her face was calm—way too calm—like she hadn’t just destroyed my family and it made me even more pissed off."You!" I spat, pointing a finger right at her. "You did this! You got my father arrested! Didn't you?"Emilia blinked twice, taken aback, but before she could even speak, Richard stood up defending her."Katherine, that is enough." His voice was cold, firm. But I wasn't going to let him intimidate me, he was in on it since she was his wife.I turned to him, my jaw tightening. "You’re defending her? After everything she’s done? Of course, you're defending her, you both conspired against him."Richard sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Your father’s arrest has nothing to do with Emilia. Would you just chill out, are you forgetting who yo
KatherineIt was Monday morning, and it was a depressing sunny day.I sighed as I approached the towering glass building of Kane Group. It has been three days, three days had passed since that humiliating disaster at the company's anniversary party, yet the whispers and never ending lingering stares still followed me like a shadow behind my back and it was annoying. It was a nightmare a complete and total catastrophe for me.Jayden’s name was on everyone’s lips, and not even for the right reasons and neither was mine. He had been utterly humiliated, and by extension, so had I. The thought made my blood boil. I was still furious mostly at that bitch named Emili. She stole my spotlight. But I wouldn’t let them see me flinch.Straightening my shoulders, I lifted my chin and stepped inside. As expected, the moment I entered, all eyes turned to me. The air just starting buzzing with murmurs, hushed low whispers that weren’t even subtle at all. I could feel their judgment crawling over my s
Emilia The air was still thick with tension from Richard’s announcement. I could feel the weight of a hundred eyes on us, watching, whispering, speculating. But none of it mattered—not when Richard stood beside me, his hand resting protectively on my waist, his presence a shield against the storm. The music had resumed, a slow, elegant tune filling the grand ballroom. The murmur of conversation was back, but there was an undeniable shift in the atmosphere.Richard had claimed me in front of everyone. And now, the world saw me not just as Emilia, the once-forgotten fiancée of Jayden Turner, but as his wife. And the mother of his child.I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. My heart was still racing from the kiss he had given me earlier—possessive, deliberate, leaving no room for doubt about where we stood. Even now, my lips still tingled from the warmth of his touch, the sensation lingering like an unspoken promise.I turned to look at him, expecting him to be scanning the room like he a
