EVOLET
I wanted Mom’s words about Fiona to be false, but she sounded serious, raining insults on me. This is my best friend she’s talking about! Fiona promised to support my wish in taking part in this hunt, and now Mom claims she’s the same person that told her about my plans? This can’t… I don’t believe… “After everything we discussed, you chose to insult me by disobeying my order?! You’re selfish, Evolet! A useless child!” Mom yelled, dragging me to my feet, ready to land another slap on my face. When I saw her hand swooshing at my direction, swiftly I pulled myself out of her grip, causing her to lose her balance. “Mom!” I called out worriedly, quickly grabbing her hand so she wouldn’t fall. But with the bitterness towards me, she pushed me off, not caring if I’d get hurt or not. “You want to be a Luna, huh? You want everyone to see a weakling like yourself as Wolf Fall’s Queen, right?! Then Go! Go and disgrace your home with your shamelessness! Let the whole pack know that my daughter has no wolf and thinks she can rule others with that empty vessel she calls a body!” “MOM!” I roared, silencing my mother out of pain. She glared at my audacity, letting out a laugh, as she clapped for me. “Yes, keep practicing, Eve. From disobedience, you have dived into power. Good!” she mocked, clapping harder. What she was doing broke my heart even more. I couldn’t hold back my frustration and blurted out at her, “Why… why are you always mean to me?! All these years I’ve been obeying your orders, doing as you wish. But now that an opportunity to leave this poverty we’ve been staying in for years, has come knocking, you… you chose to remain in the shadows and hold me down? Why Mom? Why this path?! I need an answer!” Nothing. She didn’t answer my question, but glared at me. And when I saw this, I became fed up immediately. “That’s it, Mom. It’s fine if you don’t tell me. I won’t ask. But you see that hunt? I’m going to take part in it and come back here as Wolf Fall’s Luna. And when that day comes, I’m going to take you away from this place. Mark my word,” I promised, storming out of the house with a pang. I could hear Mom yelling from behind, doubting my ability. She has no faith in her own child. She sees me as a failure. . “Fiona! FIONA!!” I roared, standing outside my so-called friend’s home, calling out to her. But she didn’t answer. Only her mother came out and demanded to know why I was screaming out her daughter’s name. “Fiona isn’t around,” she claimed. But I know that was a big lie. Because through the opened door, I saw Fiona walking into the living room, operating on her phone. When I saw this, I stormed inside and went after her, ignoring her mother’s voice. Stepping into the living room… “Hey Eve! How are you?” Fiona cheered, opening her arms wide to welcome me. In anger, I pushed her arms away, making her laugh. “Why are you being so grumpy now, Evolet? Is that how to greet your friend?” “Why did you tell my mother, Fiona? You promised to help me, so why did you do it?!” “Your mother? Tell her what?” she shrugged, grinning at me like a clown. That face expression was enough to prove that my mother was right. “You were never heading home. You lied to me.” “And so?” she lifted her brow, smirking out. “You act as if lying is a new thing, Eve. Grow up,” Fiona scoffed, finally revealing her devilish side. “So, what if I told your Mom that her weak ass daughter is planning on disobeying her orders? I did you a favor, since you didn’t want to listen,” she added, cat walking to a couch. I stared at the one I’ve called my best friend for long. Her behaviour shocked me to the core. “Evolet, you are a weak omega with no wolf. You keep on assuming you have one, when we both know you are lying to yourself. And trust me, it’s sad watching you give yourself some hope.” She sat on the couch, looking at me. “Just like your Mom said. When the Queen asks if you have a wolf and you can’t prove it, she will disgrace you. Instead of thanking me for doing what is right, you’re getting mad? Gosh! Some friend you are.” “Some friend I am? I should be saying that to you!” I sparked, pointing at Fiona, who rolled her eyes with no care. “If you called yourself my friend, you wouldn’t stab me in the back after promising to…”I paused, noticing something. The calendar in the living room. Tomorrows date was marked with a red pen, indicating the word ‘D-day’ above. On seeing that write-up, I then understood everything. “The Luna hunt starts tomorrow. You… You are taking part, aren’t you?” I glared at Fiona, finally seeing through her lies. With a smile across her face, Fiona boldly accepted her guilt. She was among the first set of damsels to sign up for the hunt, hiding this news from me when she discovered my plans to join in the game. And out of selfishness, she decided to use my mother against me. “Just like you, Evolet, I love Alpha Allen and will not allow anyone to stand in my way. Not even you,” she smirked, rising to her feet and approaching me. “That’s why I used mommy dearest in shattering your hopes. Now you can’t show your face at the hunt tomorrow. Sorry Bestie.” She gave out a fake whimper, about to caress my face. But to her surprise, I slapped her hand off and said, “Who told you I’m not taking part in the hunt? I am going to be there tomorrow, and trust me Fiona…” I pointed at her face, as she glowered at me. “I will be the Luna after all these, not you.” “Says the Wolfless Omega who can’t summon her wolf,” she mocked, laughing at me. “In case you didn’t know, Eve, every Damsel will have to show of their wolf. And when you can’t, I’d gladly help the Queen in humiliating you. Now…” she pointed at the entrance of her home and ordered, “Get out of my house, you filth.” “We shall see,” I promised, walking pass Fiona’s mother while her daughter insulted me from behind. “Look at this fool challenging me, mother! She thinks she can win the Alpha’s heart with her empty body? What a joke.” “So funny. She stands no chance against you.” Both mother and daughter laughed, as I stormed out of their home in rage. . All alone in the woods at night, I sat on a rock, staring out to the sky with tears in my eyes. I couldn’t head back home after what transpired between Mom and I, and I had no other friend to spend the night with. The one I called my best friend, turned out to be a wolf in sheep clothing. I can’t help but feel betrayed and hurt from both end. In fact, I don’t know my purpose in this life. “Why was I born into this world, if I’d end up with no family or friends to call my own?” I sniffed, wiping my eyes. Suddenly… “BRRRRRRR!!!” The pack’s air horn came on, startling me in my spot. It is always used to alert the pack of an enemy, intruder, or a rogue in the pack or approaching the pack. And hearing the horn blowing out at this hour, I became terrified. “I need to head back home quickly,” I panicked, jumping off the rock and racing back to the pack, in the hopes of getting back before I’m being caught by the enemy. Just as I was getting close, something rushed passed me like the wind, heading into the forest. I turned over to see what it was, but it was gone. “What was that?” To my surprise, I heard the sound of wolves growling in the woods. On facing the direction I was heading into, I saw about five to six yellow glowing eyes, fixed on me. I gasped out in fear when I saw them, but recognized the wolves as Wolf Fall’s pack guards, when they stepped into the light. I felt a bit relieved and thought I could explain myself, but the guards mistook me for the enemy and began to chase me! Horrified, I ran into the woods, screaming in fear. I was so terrified that I almost stumbled, but managed to get my balance. “Goddess, please help me!” I cried, looking back to see how close the guards where. Due to my carelessness, I was suddenly slammed to the ground by another wolf that cornered me from the front. Seeing I was surrounded, I began to beg the wolves, trying to get them to listen to my voice. But they were too deaf to hear my cry. “You can’t deceive us, Rogue. You are good as dead!” That statement sent shivers down my spine. Is this the end for me? As I lowered my head down, waiting to be attacked by this vicious beasts, something unexpected happened. Right before the guards, I was scooped out of their midst and far away from their spot in seconds! I saw myself dashing through trees in a great speed, high above the ground. “What… what’s happening?!” I panicked, noticing a strong muscular arm holding me tight. It was obvious that the arm belonged to a man, but who? When I lifted my head to look at the man that saved me, I was blown away. His hair… They were as white as snow, and his eyes were out of this world. It was silver, almost like the eyes of a blind man, yet beautiful. His face was so charming. It was as if I was staring at a prince from a book. He was so… handsome. Who is he? Where did he come… Wait a minute. That face. I’ve seen it somewhere before. Somewhere like… Holy Shit! “PERVERT?!” “What?!” My Saviour uttered in shock, finally looking at me. And when he did, I got a better look at his face. It’s him! The creepy crawler! “You?!” he gazed at me in astonishment, recognizing me.EVOLET “Put me down! DOWN I SAY!” I roared, swinging my legs at my captor. He didn’t budge, until I began slamming my fists and biting him on the back. That’s when Mr. Perv swooshed down with speed, dropping me roughly on dry ground. I almost lost my balance, but managed to hold a tree for support. “Do you want to kill me, you Subvert?!” I groaned in anger, turning around to lash at Mr. No Good. Only for me to be startled by his action. He didn’t even give me the chance to strike. Instead, he grabbed my hands and pinned me against the tree, staring into my eyes with a growl. Fear engulfed my whole body when I saw his silver eyes flashing at me intensely, gritting his wolf teeth. Now, I was no longer looking at the man I once called a pervert, but… a beast. A strange wolf I’ve never seen before. His eyes… He looks nothing like the rest. “Don’t call me a pervert,” he groaned, drawing his face closer to mine, causing me to gulp down in fear, as I shivered in my spot. I
EVOLETI feel so ashamed of myself right nowI’m asking a stranger to pose as my wolf for the hunt, and it’s all because of that backstabbing Fiona, who thinks I can’t be the Alpha’s Luna.“You’ll just pretend to be me when it’s time. You’ll use that black smoke you created back there and switch places with me. That way I…”“Do you know what you’re saying?” Cadell asked, releasing me from his grip.I was expecting a positive response from Cadell, but it seems someone had no interest in this plan one bit.“You want me to act as your wolf because of a stupid hunt, right in the Alpha’s home?”“It’s not stupid. It’s… Look, you have to help me. I really need to impress the Queen and her son, if I want to be the future Luna. It’s not as if I don’t have a wolf, I… I just don’t know how to prove it. Come on, Cadell. Just this one, and we will both go our separate ways. I promise,” I begged, joining both palms together, hoping he would agree with me.But instead of a Yes… “And what if I say No
EVOLETI can’t believe he came after turning me down. And he’s small?“You can shrink your size? What happened to your majestic form?” I asked, rising from the ground.Cadell rolled his eyes at me but didn’t voice out. Seems someone is playing the silent treatment. Still, I’m so happy that he’s here. I feel much better.“What’s that wolf doing there?”“Isn’t that a forest wolf? How did it get into the pack?” Voices mumbled, fixing their attention on Cadell, who they mistook for a mere wolf that dwells far from we werewolves.I could hear the Beta ordering a guard to step in and take him away, only for my furious opponent to roar out in anger, coming at Cadell and I.Quickly, Cadell pushed me out of the way, as he dodge the werewolf, distracting it from attacking me.With no hesitation, he went head to head with my opponent, fighting her like a mad dog. When I saw she was distracted, I immediately ran up to her with boldness, using force to climb her back, wrapping my right arm around
QUEEN CHRISELDA“Thank the goddess for today’s game, my Queen. The performance from the damsels were more than what we expected,” Thelma said, following me towards the living room.I hummed, agreeing with what she just said. “Indeed, it was more than what we expected. Way too much,” I said, taking my mind to the strange damsel with the pet wolf.If not for her performance and the words of that lady, I would have eliminated her today. If my son is going to end up with the winner of this hunt, then the damsel must have a wolf, not a pet.A true Luna must be able to summon her beast, and that maiden can’t. “I bet she won’t last long,” I said, scoffing out.“Are you referring to the wolfless maiden from the arena?” Thelma asked, looking at me as we gradually drew closer to the living room.“Yes, that weak omega,” I answered.“Do you know what is funny, my Queen? That weakling was afraid to step out and fight when it was her turn. I was the one who pushed her out, and yet, she ended up ste
EVOLET“Thank you for staying, Derby. I was feeling kinda… lonely,” I said, holding Derby’s hands while glancing at the wolf laying his head on my lap, with a pervy smile across his face.Creep! If not for Derby that came over to see me, I wonder what Cadell would have done.He has been acting like a sick pup yearning for his mother’s touch, trying to get Derby to leave. But I wasn’t stupid. That’s a grown man pretending to be a wolf, fooling poor Derby into thinking he’s adorable and innocent. She almost left the room, but I stopped her by claiming to be lonely, so I won’t be left with Cadell. This creep has a lot of nasty things going on in that head of his.“It’s okay, Eve. I’m just happy that I have someone to talk. Honestly, I don’t have any friends. I’m just a loner who’s trying to fit in any group I find myself in,” Derby said with a smile, patting my shoulder. What she said reminded me of my own case. I don’t have friends. The one who pretended to be my bestie, turned out to b
EVOLET“Waw! This is beautiful!” I exclaimed at the sight of the beautiful large dining room.As the Queen had instructed, every Damsel that made it to the next round, came into the room in the dresses that she sent to us.I was putting on mine. A bright purple floral dress, which actually matches my name. Derby, who stood next to me at the dining room, wore a blue sparkling attire, gazing at the interior of the large room with happiness.“You can say that again. I think I’m going to explode!” she shrieked, grabbing my arm in excitement.I wanted to join her in this joyous moment, but it was ruined by Fiona, who cat walked into the dining in her own dress, a red and black floral attire.“Wow,” Derby and I had uttered on dropping our eyes on Fiona’s dress. It was the most beautiful gown in that room, outshining other maiden’s attire in the room.Other girls gawked at her sparkling dress, giving her all the attention she needed. And when Fiona was engulfed with this praises, she took a
EVOLETWhile everyone else were enjoying tonight’s dinner, I was sitting in my seat, feeling unwanted. My mood was ruined thanks to Fiona, who was stealing the Queen’s attention with her so-called angelic nature.Everything made me unhappy. Only Derby was trying to keep me smiling, until the end of the massive dinner with Queen Chriselda. As soon as it came to an end, I exited the room with derby, after the Queen left. All I wanted to do was get into my room, sleep, and forget about tonight’s dinner. But like always, someone had other plans for me.As soon as Derby and I reached a certain distance from the dining room, we heard from behind, “Where are you racing to, Queen Violet’s lookalike?”I stopped in my track on recognizing Fiona’s voice. I carefully turned around and found her with her minions, smirking directly at me, ready to ruin the remaining hours of the day for me.“What’s the matter? Are you feeling defeated already? It’s fine if you tell us how you feel, Eve. We all know
EVOLET“What?” I uttered at what Mom just said.Is that what she thinks?“Why that question? Do you think I’m dumb and don’t know the rules of that stupid game you tagged yourself in?” she questioned, glaring straight at me.“Just accept your failure, Eve. You lost the next round and came crawling to your mother, knowing quite well that I was right all along and you were wrong,” she scoffed, resuming with the arrangement. But she didn’t stop talking, or lets say attacking me emotionally.Mom chuckled and began to mimic my every words, when I stood up to her about my decision and desire to help our home. “We have a chance to escape this poverty. I believe I can be the Alpha’s Luna. What happened now?” she laughed, swaying her head. Her words broke my heart deeply. I didn’t know how to respond to this, but just gaze at her.She looked at me and finally said with a smile on her face, “Oh, don’t feel sad, Evolet. I’m still your mother. You don’t have to be worried about getting yourself a
QUEEN CHRISELDA“Idiots, that’s what you are!” I sparked at the guards who stood before me.They had their heads lowered before me.“The next time you all will make me call out to you without getting any response, I’ll have your heads chopped off!”“We’re sorry, Queen Chriselda.” they apologized, but I wasn’t done talking.“If you see that wolf and cat running around without their owners and causing disaster in my home, then I want you to capture and lock them up! Is that clear?!”“Yes, my Queen,” they all chorused.“What’s going on here?” Allen questioned while stepping into my almost crowded room.I sent the guards out and began complaining to my son about the attack made on me by those rodents.“They almost sent me to the ground!” I groaned, turning over to look at myself in the mirror and see if that dirty cat make any scratches on me.“Oh Mom, you know they are just animals? They don’t have good reasoning like us,” my son defended those creatures.I know why he’s doing this, but
EVOLETIt’s still fine if this problem happened to me alone, but Derby?I will not accept that at all! When we were heading for the dining room, I noticed how troubled and scared Derby was. Even Trent looked angry in her arms, and it got Cadell and I wondering what the problem was. They couldn’t speak at the dining yet until we got to the arena for our training, where there’s enough open space to stay in and talk. Then Derby told us what happened.Someone came into her room last night! And it was Allen!“I was sleeping when I heard Trent hissing out. I had to turn over to know what it was. Only for me to see a man staring at me from the door!” Derby shared, shaking fearfully.“The red glowing eyes… The height in the dark… I recognized the dark figure immediately.”“That bastard!” I cursed, getting furious over this!“If not for Trent, I don’t know what Alpha Allen would have done. Trent attacked him badly and that got him fleeing the room. If care wasn’t taken…” She squeezed Trent clo
EVOLET“We did it,” Derby cheered next to me in the dining room, holding my hand tight.“It’s thanks to the Goddess. She used the people of Wolf Fall to force the Queen to accept us,” she chuckled lightly, before facing another damsel who was sharing her happiness in being back in the mansion, to the others.Indeed it’s the Goddess that gave us this chance, and we need to make good use of it before things gets out of hand.“But I know we’ll succeed in this mission real soon,” I believed within, caressing Cadell. He had his head falling on my lap while being patted by another damsel at my side.“He’s so cute,” she had said, running her fingers in his fur.And you need to see the way he laid lazily on me, enjoying himself.“Naughty,” I chuckled, stroking him.Just then… “Good evening, my Angels.”“Alpha Allen!” The girls called out with joy, dismissing their conversations to gawk at the Alpha. The creepy Alpha walked into the room with a smile, taking the high seat which Queen Chriselda
ALLEN“Are you satisfied now?” My Beta questioned. His voice sounding displeased and hard. But I didn’t care about his tone and replied, smiling right at the ones I have been waiting for, “Extremely satisfied.”Dean won’t understand the kind of thrill I’m getting from this. He thinks I’m just being confused and don’t know what I actually want. What a foolish wolf.“Just pray that the Queen doesn’t learn about your involvement in this decision she made. You know how furious she’ll get.”“My mother will never find out about a thing, unless you’re planning on telling her,” I uttered, facing my Beta, who stood next to me.He no longer had his wheelchair but walked around with a cane. He kept his head down when I turned to glare at him.Just what I expected from someone like him.“If she ever finds out about my deeds, I promise you Dean…” I slowly placed my hand on his neck and grabbed him tight. He kept his head bow silently, saying nothing else to me.“I will make you breath your last b
QUEEN CHRISELDA“Thelma!” I called, storming to her room. When I got there, I met the door locked.I thought she wasn’t inside but heard sounds coming from the within.“Thelma, open up!” I banged harder, almost losing my patience. That’s when she answered, sluggishly opening up for me.When our eyes met, Thelma asked coldly, “What?”This woman! Nowadays she no longer shows me respect because of what I did. She has decided to take me as a nobody!“I need your help, Thelma,” I said, stepping into her room without her invitation.“This people want to run me mad in this pack.” I sat on her bed, trying to ease my pounding heart.“I just had a meeting with our elders. They came to tell me about the people’s interest in making that disrespectful Omega my son’s Luna. They gave me two options, Thelma! They want me to either bring her and that friend of hers back into the game, or cancel the hunt and make her the Luna. But I don’t want any of the options! What can I do?!”I felt my hands trembl
QUEEN CHRISELDA“Evolet! Evolet!! EVOLET!!!” I sparked, slamming my fist into the wall.“It’s always her! WHY GODDESS?!”“I can’t handle that girl any more. This is getting out of hand for me!” I groaned, flashing to the look on her face when she glanced at me before leaving the arena. She once again stolen the hearts of the people, and now she has done it again. They are talking about how she and her friend sent that Vampire Queen running. It has been the latest topic since last night’s hunt!Even this lousy people have taken it to the internet, calling her Wolf Fall’s true Luna.“She is no Luna. I am the one who will decide who the true Luna and Queen of this pack will be!” I vented once again, slamming my hand into the wall again, but harder. This time, I made a big hole to the other side, only for me to hear the sound of someone screaming out in fear from the other end. When I looked, I found a maid staring at me in fear from the opening. Her face trembled before she fled away wit
EVOLET“She did that?” Mom asked, frowning her face.We didn’t head back home because we were thinking of a new way to get back into the mansion. We met Mom coming down to the arena with other pack members, since it was afternoon.“Yeah, she just kicked Evolet out so rudely. You need to see the hate in her eyes,” Derby shared, describing the Queen’s demeanor.I stood there with my back against a tree, watching them while glancing at the arena. My focus was on that pendant. I need it to stop Chriselda and Thelma from monitoring my location. But it can only be possible if I’m inside.“That ugly wrinkled woman! She’ll pay for this,” Mom groaned, pulling closer to me.“Don’t you worry, Eve. We’ll think of something.”“I hope it’s one that involves ruining that woman’s face, because I want a piece of her flesh in my claws,” Trent vented right on Derby’s shoulder, still raging over the Queen’s words.Cadell laughed at his anger and said, “Welcome to the club, Pretty boy.”That made Trent gl
EVOLET“Welcome my lovely and brave damsels. It’s so nice to see you all again,” The Queen said with a big smile, stepping off the stairs with the sorceress by her side.“I’m sorry about the delay. Your Alpha had an emergency and couldn’t welcome you angels himself. But don’t worry, he’ll be present during the games today,” she said, pleasing the girls.Where I stood watching, I noticed how Sorceress Thelma kept lowering down to touch her knees and rising again to stand straight.“Are you seeing this?” I asked Derby while keeping my attention on the elderly woman.“What?” Derby asked.“The sorceress is acting strange. I think she’s… weak,” I observed when she repeated her brief squat, patting the Queen from behind.“Really? I didn’t notice,”Derby said, looking lost. She didn’t see when the sorceress made those weak movements. In fact, I think I’m the only one among all the girls who saw this.Others were focused on Queen Chriselda’s welcome speech. Their minds are on the game.I saw t
EVOLET“That wasn’t enough,” Cadell grumbled, sitting next to Mom.“He ran away before I could unleash my wrath and break his bones.”“You will get him next time. For now, you won the fight,” Mom pampered him, putting a smile on his face.“I knew Allen wouldn’t last long with Cadell. The time I fought with that asshole, he couldn’t take me down. He’s lucky that the old sorceress came to his rescue otherwise…” Trent shared, running his thumb across his neck where he sat.“Wait, when was that?” Derby asked curiously, and Trent gave her his response.“The night I was caught and taken by the Royal home.”“Really? But the Sorceress claimed Alpha Allen was the… Damn, they lied to us!” Derby groaned, getting mad.“I hate them all!” She kicked the air, expressing her detest for the Alpha. “I can’t wait to expose their dirty secrets. This hunt is taking forever!”“Calm down, Derby. We are getting there. Soon, everything will fall in place. Right Eve?” Trent uttered, looking at me.Where I sat
