Gwen’s POV

I could sense the tension, right from the time Alpha Blake entered my room, despite his effort to appear composed.

I noticed the subtle signs that all was not alright, the subtle tightening of the edges of his eyes, the slight hunch in his shoulders, and the forced calm in his voice when he spoke.

"How did it go? The meeting?" I asked, trying to sound casual and lighten up the room.

Alpha Blake smiled, but I noticed it didn't reach his eyes. "It went fine. Just the usual discussions about security and patrols."He said sighing a bit too loud.

I raised an eyebrow, not buying his nonchalant response. "Alpha Blake, I can tell something's bothering you. You don't have to hide it from me."

Alpha Blake sighed again, running a hand through his hair. "I don't want to burden you with pack matters, Gwen. You're still recovering.

"I'm stronger than I look," I said, my voice firm. "And I want to help. Please, just tell me what's going on."

I watched Alpha Blake closely. I could see

Gwen’s POVMy mind was a whirlwind of doubts, resolution, and determination. I knew I had to inform Alpha Blake about my suspicions regarding Nora. The safety of the pack depended on transparency, even if it would mean creating tension between us. At last, I summoned up enough nerve and courage to face Alpha Blake.Scenarios of how Alpha Blake would react raced through my mind. Yes, I knew Alpha Blake was a man who valued loyalty and honesty above anything else, but this was about his close friend Nora. The relationship and bond between Alpha Blake and Nora were complicated, and I feared the repercussions of my revelation, but I had to say something because not saying anything kept making me feel uneasy.I glanced towards Alpha Blake where he sat at the window, he seemed lost in thought. His eyes were distant, portraying clearly the commotion and turmoil within him. I took a deep breath and coughed slightly to bring back his mind and announce my presence because I felt like he

Gwen’s POVI finally wrenched myself free from Alpha Blake's grasp. My patience was finally boiling over. "You know what, Alpha Blake? I really don't care whether you believe me or not. But you need to keep a closer eye on the friend you believe so much."Alpha Blake's eyes widened at my harsh tone. "Gwen, it's not that I don't trust you—""Isn't it?" I cut him off, shaking as I spoke. "You're more willing to believe that I'm wrong or I'm seeing things than to consider that Nora might not be who she says she is."Alpha Blake sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's not about believing or not believing. It is about needing proof before I can act. If you accuse Nora of this crap without evidence, it could bring chaos within the pack. You really need to be sure."I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. "I don’t understand that. But while you're waiting for proof, she could be plotting something terrible. Can't you at least promise me you'll keep an eye on her?" the person yo

Blake’s POVI paced back and forth across my chamber as my mind rebelled with thoughts racing within me. I kept replaying the conversation I had with Gwen, her words echoing in the quiet room. She had been so sure, so adamant about what she had seen. Yet, I found myself grappling with doubt. Could Nora, someone I had known and trusted for so long, be involved in something so sinister?I stopped at the window, looking out over the moonlit grounds. The pack grounds were quiet, but I didn't feel anything in the serenity. My mind couldn't seem to rid itself of the image of Gwen's serious expression and the pain in her eyes when I dismissed her concerns. I hadn't intended to hurt her, but the accusation against Nora seemed just so outlandish, so unlike her.My thoughts strayed back to the past, my times with Nora. We had practically grown up together, we had fought through endless battles together. She had always been there for him, a solid friend, a strong and true friend. The thought

Gwen's POV I had been discharged and sent to my room so when I woke this morning, I laid in bed for a while as I looked at the way of morning light that came in through the curtain. I sat up then inspected my leg and was surprised that it was completely healed, the area was just darker than my usual skin and the pain that came with it was gone. But I knew the darkness was going to go out after a while, moving the leg cane with no struggle or pain and I was glad for that. I got out of bed without any discomfort and even matched, there was no pain. I couldn't do this before but this will give me the ground to move as I have wanted and get those things I want sorted out. The door opened as Aurelia and another maid walked into the room with a warm smile as they bowed at me immediately after they got to my side. “Good morning, my lady! How was your night?" She greeted and asked as the lady beside her bowed again. "Good morning Aurelia! I am good as you can see!” I replied with a smile

Gwen's POV I spent the morning in my room reading the books I picked from the library and after a while, I thought it was best to use this moment when I show Nora by the garden. I had noticed that most times when she stepped out of her room, before she was back in it was till dusk or late evening. My maids were in the room as they brought me some snacks earlier and just decided to stay and arrange my closet. I stood up and walked up to them. “You can both leave, I think I need to rest as I was feeling tired!" I explained to them as they nodded in understanding and bowed before walking out of the closet towards the door when I stopped them.“Wait up! Do you think Alpha Blake is back?” I asked them as they exchanged looks and nodded negatively. "I am not sure as I am not certain if he is back!” Aurelia replied sincerely as she thought deeply but nothing. "I am not sure also but before coming here about five minutes ago, I saw Beta Felix walking into the building!” Elara uttered, loo

Gwen's POV I was surprised and startled, to say the least, but I was very quick to recover and straighten my posture. Nora's surprise also faded into a sneer as she glared at me. Even though I was still in shock and disbelief which made me speechless, I didn't let her see through me and just met her gaze with the same intensity as she. “Well! Well! Well! Who do we have here? ‘Lady Gwen’, what are you doing here? You seem to have lost your way or should I say memories?" She asked me with a voice dripping with condescension which struck a nerve in me but I had to be calm because I brought this on myself. If I had remained in my room, Nora wouldn't be here sneering and glaring at me with a condensing voice. “I have every right to move to whatever wing of the pack house I was to see and I was just taking a harmless walk. How is that an issue for you? I wasn't walking on your head, I wish I could, or was I walking in your room? You just happen to see me at the front of this and I didn't

Gwen’s POVMy eyes widened as I watched the confident smile playing on Nora's lips. The defiance in Nora’s voice, the absolute lack of fear, sent shivers down my spine. I had expected denial perhaps anger, but not this brazen display of confidence. Like Nora believed she was untouchable, beyond reproach."What's the matter, lady Gwen?" There was almost a mocking amusement in Nora's voice. "Surprised?"I steadied myself and gathered my thoughts, refusing to be intimidated by Nora's haughtiness. I’m surprised by your audacity, I said. "To think you'd be so bold about it, Nora. I never believed you would be capable of such things."Nora laughed, but the sound felt almost sinister in the still room. "You think you can catch me in the act? Expose me, By all means, go ahead and try. But they prepared for the consequences of what I will do to you."I took a single step closer, narrowing my eyes. "What are you talking about?"Nora’s smiled a bit wider. "Oh lady Gwen, you're just terribly je

Gwen’s POVI stood frozen, my heart aching as I watched the scene unfold before me. With very slow, deliberate steps, Nora started walking toward Alpha Blake, her shoulders shaking hard with the effect of her tears. She looked so vulnerable, so broken that, for a moment, I almost doubted everything I knew about Nora. Almost. I had hoped, perhaps naively, that Alpha Blake would see through Nora's act. But as Nora reached where Alpha Blake was, she threw her arms around him, and my heart sank. Alpha Blake's facial expression was a mix of worry and perplexity as he spread his arms to accommodate Nora. She collapsed into them, her sobs muffled against his chest. A stab of hurt and disappointment pierced through me. I had expected lots of things from Nora, but this display of vulnerability and manipulation, I never expected such."Nora, what's wrong?" Alpha Blake asked softly, his voice laced with concern. He reached out, stroking her hair in comfort.Nora just held him tight, her sob

BLAKE'S POVThe fear in the eyes of the midwife made me want to rush to the delivery room and bring out my wife. At this point, I did not mind not having to have our baby for now. All I wanted was to have my wife back in one piece.“What…what's the problem? " What's going on?” I yelled at her, losing the last ounce of self-control I had left in me. The midwife instantly transformed with fear and my heart started beating fast. “She…uhm, Luna is having issues breathing, and she keeps crying even after the baby.” She said and my heart dropped. I instantly returned Nathan to her and ran into the delivery room when Gwen was screaming her head off.“Don't let her take me, Blake. " Don't let her take me, please.” She was crying and writhing in pain. So much that our mate bond began to hurt me as well. I rushed to her and held her hands, Then I noticed the midwife returning to the room with our baby in her hands and I got an idea.“Give me the baby,” I instructed the midwife and she passed h

GWEN’S POVAs the days got closer to my due date, my body felt the stress of carrying another life apart from the one that it was used to carrying. My back hurt, my knees hurt, my feet ached, and even my stomach wasn’t left out as the sensations in there felt very uncomfortable. My baby was kicking so hard that I was convinced he wanted to become a footballer or an athlete and was ready to get straight into the field once he was out in the world.Every night before I went to bed, I had to get a massage of my waist and my swollen legs because they just ached so badly. Even Blake had gotten to apologizing for making me go through all that I was going through because of his big-headed baby. I knew that pregnancy was supposed to be a glorious time and mine used to be but it was fast losing its sparkle and becoming a trying time.As if all of that wasn’t enough, the heartburn I was suffering had me staying away from foods I craved so much all because they set the heartburn off so much. GWEN’S POV“Bring the other box for me”I had been buying a lot of things in preparation for the baby’s arrival and I just knew that I was going too crazy with my purchases. The baby wasn’t here yet but if I didn’t want to buy any clothes for the next year, we were still going fo be alright. The box was brought to me and opened to reveal a blue jumper that looked like the best thing ever created in the world. We awwwed and ahhed at it before setting it aside to look at the contents of the next box.“Woah, I wasn’t informed that we were opening a supermarket in our room”I flew off the bed I was sitting on and into the arms of Blake, who was at the door as he had only just come in. It was lunchtime, so I wasn’t surprised to see him. We shared a kiss and then, I dragged him to bed with me to look through my purchases with me.“You got all these in blue? Why not pink?”Blake was adamant that we were going to be having a girl but I was still stuck on the hill that it was going to be a boy

GWEN’S POV“Trances are only a gateway between the past and the future. There is but a thin line which separates both time parts and the wielder of gifts should be careful to recognize that. Sometimes, the present may even get interwoven at certain points because of the emotional attachment of the wielded powers to events happening around. Trances may come as flashes in the eye of the mind and may be triggered by the five senses. The sense of touch and smell are the strongest triggers of this. Hence why a wielder should be careful what is touched because then the curtain may be shifted and what lays beyond glimpsed”I was so invested in the book I was reading that I didn’t even realize that the sun was now setting. I had picked up the book I took from Nora’s room which I had been unable to glance through for so long after lunch ane had been reading voraciously. From what I had read so far, I was coming to understand that the moon goddess had blessed me with a gift so rare that many eo

BLAKE’S POV“Could it be true?”Seated in my office alone, I pondered on the events of the previous day. I was over the moon that Gwen was now speaking to me after I explained that all the times Nora and I had met up had been for the baby we were expecting. She had been extremely skeptical and withdrew her belief in my explanations, not until my personal guards confirmed what I said.Embarrassed didn’t cut how I felt that Gwen couldn’t take my word for it but instead, had to rely on the words of my staff who served me. I understood why she wasn’t giving me her trust freely but that still didn’t take away the sting. When that case was resolved and I apologized for once again, making her feel like she was coming second in my life, I brought up the drawing. She had tried to deflect by apologizing about intending to move out but I quickly redirected her attention back to it because I knew I hadn’t hallucinated the slight sense of alarm in her voice when she asked me what I was doing with

BLAKE’S POV“So what do we do about it now?”The table broke out in murmurs as people spoke with themselves, trying to come up with a solution to the matter at hand. Things were spiraling out of control so fast that I worried if we didn’t do anything quickly, we were going to be at the mercy of our enemies.I knew that I wasn’t the only one who recognized that there was a bigger issue, far bigger than the one we were being faced with because it was clear that everyone at the table with me was worried. The meeting didn’t seem to be yielding any progress and we had been at it for a few hours already.“I’m not hearing any suggestions”When there were still no profitable suggestions more than 30 minutes later, I adjourned the meeting to two days later so that everyone had enough time to come up with something tangible that we could use to protect ourselves while we tried to understand what was going on with the strange breaking-ins we had been having around the pack.“How is she doing tod

GWEN’S POVMoving back and forth in the room, I slammed my clothes in the open suitcase on the bed, all the while muttering angrily to myself. He hadn’t even bothered to come after me, which just meant that he was okay with me leaving. He didn’t mind that I was about to walk away from our marriage and his life with our baby. Perhaps this was something I should have done a long time ago.So annoyed was I that I didn’t even bother to get everything that was mine in the drawers, deciding instead to come back for it when I was a bit more settled in where I was going to be staying till I finally left the pack as a whole. No, I had a change of mind. If I stayed, he was still going to have access to me. It was best I just left, so I could put everything behind me and start a new life altogether somewhere else.My suitcase beside me and a small messenger bag slung over my shoulder, I started making my way towards the door. I didn’t look at anyone as I walked out with the intention of leaving.

GWEN’S POVThe longer I stayed there holding my bleeding toe, the angrier I became. At a point, I turned around and started marching back toward the pack house, one destination in mind. Without thinking twice, I went straight to Blake’s room to wait for him.The fight I had been putting up to give him as much distance as I could was the last thing on my mind. I didn’t even remember that I was supposed to give him a hard time in having my attention. I just wanted to get to the bottom of the matter at hand once and for all so we all knew what was going on for goodness' sakeWhen I got there, as expected, he wasn’t there because he was too busy gallivanting the whole arena with Nora at his side. I slumped onto the chair there, full of restless energy. My foot tapping on the floor and my eyes trained on the door, I planned what I was going to say to him in my head. After what felt like centuries of waiting, the door finally opened and Blake walked in. When he did so, he stopped startled a

GWEN’S POV“Luna Gwen, can I ask a question?”I stopped sipping from the glass that held chilled orange juice that one of the maids had brought to me. I was seated outside on the patio, enjoying the afternoon as much as I could because being cooped up in my room was starting to take a toll on my mental health and making me feel cranky all the time. Snapping at others wasn’t my forte so I thought it best to have some fresh air.“You’ve already asked one but go ahead”Aurelia blushed and adjusted in her seat opposite me which I practically forced her into. She was adamant about remaining standing, as if she were some soldier on guard duty or something like that.“Why didn’t you confront Alpha Blake and Healer Nora when you saw them yesterday?”Her question brought back the annoying memory of the day before when I saw Blake and Nora sharing a moment or several moments together. I didn’t care to know what they were up to so I didn’t ask.“What good would have come of that?”My tone sounde
