I arrive at Theo's house at seven in the evening and, just as he instructed, I walk in without knocking because he's waiting for me.

"Hey, Nu," he greets when he sees me approaching the living room where he’s sitting next to the baby carrier, "Where are the boys?"

"They’re home. Soon they’ll have to start in their new fancy school and they're both super dumb, so they have a lot of studying to do before they start the new cycle," I say as I approach, trying not to look too nervous. Come to think of it, I should have brought the boys along to help make this less awkward.

"Oh, okay," he says and stands up to greet me with a hug that I have to end quickly before his warmth makes me feel the need to hug him for hours, "Thanks for coming.”
