Asher’s POV:
I let out an agonizing scream as the pain tore through my frame once more, my senses were on fire and I shuddered as the overwhelming desire to kill and destroy overtook my frame. I knew it was only a matter of time before my Lycan was taking over completely and when that happened there was no telling what would happen as I had no control over that part of me. I had been hoping that I wouldn’t have another episode in a long while especially since my last one had gone on for so long but it seemed like I was nearing the end of the rope.It was miraculous how I had managed to survive the curse for so long but it didn’t seem like I could hold on for much longer. The growing intensity of the pain and the overwhelming urges were becoming too much to bear and I was losing control of my Lycan faster than was safe for myself and everyone around me.I had made many mistakes in my lifetime, one of which had happened in my earlier rule as Alpha King, I had felt above the world and had been ruthless and vicious, an act that I was now dearly paying for. The guilt gnawed at my soul, fueling the agony of the curse but there was nothing I could do about it except try with all my strength to hold back my Lycan so he didn’t take control of my body again.I could still see her face, she had been the most beautiful girl that I had ever seen and in my ruthlessness, I had taken her by force. In my defense, there was no way that I could have known that she was a witch and so it had come as a surprise when after the ordeal I suddenly couldn’t reach my wolf and it felt like the other half of me had completely died.Only to be replaced by this monster that was currently torturing me. I had never found the girl again, after the night that I had defiled her it felt like she had completely vanished and all that was left was the curse that she had placed.I could hear Nikolai, my Beta somewhere around the room giving instructions but his voice sounded far away, as if I had been submerged underwater. The air around me felt harder to breathe and my vision started to blur. My body was already starting to transform on its own when I heard Aurora’s voice. Her incantations grew louder and filled the room, slowly pulling me out of my agony and putting an end to the horrible transformation that was about to happen. As Aurora's voice reverberated through the room, a surge of newfound strength coursed through my veins, pushing back the merciless being that had been on the surface and restoring a semblance of peace to my mind. I could still feel the pain throughout my body, but it was no longer the unbearable agony that it had been moments ago and I eventually gained control of my body once more. The room was bath in silence for several minutes with only the sound of my harsh breathing filling the space but eventually, the seer cleared her throat.“Are you okay?” Aurora asked, I noted the distance that she kept between us and although I understood her reason, it still hurt my heart that the darkness that lived within me had made me such a monster that everyone except Nikolai avoided me like a plague, or at least always kept a distance whenever they had to be around me.“For now, yes. I can still feel him roaming restlessly but I think he’ll stay put for now.” I responded, my voice hoarse from the screaming earlier. She approached me carefully, offering me a vial that contained a concoction of some sort. I was used to it now and didn’t question it, instead, I tossed it’s content to the back of my throat, hissing when the bitter liquid came in contact with my tongue. I immediately felt a lot better once I took the mixture and I could see the relief flash in the seer’s eyes.“Thank you, Aurora,” I said as softly as I could and the older woman only nodded her head but she didn’t leave as I expected to, instead she shuffled beside me like she had something more to say.I waited patiently for her to speak but when she only continued to shuffle nervously beside me, and I grew curious about what she was withholding.“Is there a problem?” I asked and she quickly shook her head, looking in the direction of Nikolai as if asking for help before looking my way again, and the action confused and annoyed me at the same time.“I would like to go to bed now, so if you don’t have anything else to say then get out,” I called impatiently, wincing when the older woman flinched at my harsher tone.“I don’t think these concoctions or spells would hold your Lycan for much longer Alpha.” She finally said, and a frown painted my face at her words.I knew it was the truth, the episodes were happening too frequently now and they were getting more intense, making it harder to keep control of my Lycan side.“So… what are you saying?”“Maybe y-you m-might want to c-consider the other option?” She said and the rage that tore through me at her words was tempered only by the Beta pulling her away before I could reach out to grab her.“That would be all for now Aurora. Thank you for your help.” Nikolai quickly dismissed and the woman was more than happy to scurry out of my presence.Once the door was shut behind her, Nikolai settled by my bedside, and from the look my Beta was giving me, I knew what his next words would be.“You know she’s right.” He said and the softness in his tone did nothing to appease my anger.“I don’t care. I don’t want to even hear it. I’m not doing it and that’s final. If you’re about to try convincing me, don’t. Get out of my room before you make me lose my temper.” I barked at him but he barely flinched.“For how long do you think you can continue? Can you imagine if I had not gotten to you in time and summoned Aurora tonight what would have happened? Have you forgotten what happened the last time your Lycan took contr-““Of course, I haven’t fucking forgotten Nikolai, you don’t have to remind me of the event. It’s not my proudest moment and I live every day of my life regretting it!” My voice trembled with anger as memories of that dreadful period flooded back.“I’m sorry. I’m not trying to trigger you, I’m only trying to help Asher. You need to do it, I know it’s the last thing that you want to do but if there’s a chance that it would work, if there’s a chance that it would get rid of the curse and reunite you with your wolf, wouldn’t you want to take it even if you don’t want to do it?” Nikolai asked and I slumped against the frame of the bed that I was propped against. His words struck a chord deep within me, stirring up a mixture of realization and resentment.“How the hell am I supposed to find a virgin white omega werewolf that would want to have my child? Everyone sees me as a monster and maybe I am so who in their right mind would want to share a bed with me and then give me a child? What if it doesn’t work eventually? What if I never find a compatible wolf or worse I find one, get her pregnant and then I end up passing the gene? That’s a chance I don’t want to take. If I have a child, there’s a fifty percent chance they would be Lycan and live as a monster all their life. That’s a curse no one deserves.”“There’s also a fifty percent chance that they don’t become Lycan. Aren’t you willing to take the risk? If your Lycan takes over, it’s doom for all of us. If there’s a chance that you can find a virgin white omega wolf that is compatible and can have a child that could break this curse. Wouldn’t you want to take it? Put yourself out of this misery?” Nikolai said softly. It wasn’t the first time I had heard the proposal and just like the first time, it sounded selfish and just far-fetched. There were just so many things wrong with it. Since the curse, I had not slept with another woman. Aside from the obvious reasons, my biggest fear was producing another Lycan but according to Aurora producing a child with the right wolf would completely break the curse. I didn’t like the sound of it, I didn’t think I could see it through too but I knew that I had to try. For the sake of everyone, I had to try.“Good luck finding a virgin white omega wolf,” I said the resignation in my tone was clear.“Really? You’d do it?” I hated the excitement in my Beta’s voice but I knew that it was time.“You’re doing all the work though. You know how difficult it is to find a white omega. Now get out of my room and let me sleep. This damn concoction is starting to kick in.”“You won’t have to lift a finger, I promise. I’ll start the search immediately and I’ll get the best white omegas every pack has to offer as soon as possible. You’ll have a perfect match as soon as possible.” He promised excitedly and I hummed in response. With a tired sigh, I buried myself under the soft quilt and shut my eyes. The sound of Nikolai leaving the room lulled me to sleep. Two thoughts lingered on my mind as I fought the sleep that threatened to overtake me.I didn’t want to share my bed with another woman. Ever again, the last time had left me traumatized and had left an ugly scar behind. I wasn’t looking forward to it happening again. But on the other hand, I didn’t want to lose control again to my Lycan and destroy half the world in uncontrollable rage.I knew that this was going to be difficult and I silently prayed to the Goddess that whatever happened, it didn’t all end in tragedy.Elysia’s POV: The next time I opened my eyes, I could still hear and feel the truck in motion. There were now soft whispers around me and although we were still bath in darkness, it felt a little easier to see. A sign that it was probably brighter outside now. “Are you awake?” I heard a soft whisper beside me and it forced me to pull myself into a sitting position. I winced as my muscles screamed from the sudden movement.“Yeah,” I responded, trying to focus so I could get the features of the girl beside me. “I’m Seraphina. What’s your name?” “Elysia.” Came my response and she hummed in acknowledgment but remained silent. It felt like hours passed between us but it couldn’t have been more than a couple minutes when I spoke again. “A-are y-ou a white o-omega wolf?” I asked the question that had been on my mind since the moment I had entered the truck to meet all the girls. “We all are.” Came her response and my heart broke a little more. This could not mean anything good. “Do yo
Elysia’s POV: I had lost track of time since my time in the scarlet room as there were no windows or clocks in the room but somehow I had been able to establish a routine. Every couple of hours different people came into the room and I was now familiar with the faces. There was the guard who did routine checks and took us to take a bath or use the toilet when we needed to, the older lady who brought us food and then there was Michelle. She didn’t come as frequently as the guards or the food lady but whenever she came, you could feel the tension in the room as everyone held their breath while her intense eyes scanned the room. Every time that she came into the room she took four girls out with her and that was it. The girls never came back, there was no way to know what happened to them as no one ever answered our questions but we just knew that being picked by Michelle was bad luck and so the woman’s presence never failed to get my heart beating fast within my chest. After myself
Elysia’s POV: “Come with me please.” One of the girls said to me the moment Michelle was out of the room and I did as she said, following as she led me into a spacious bathroom. It was bigger than anything I ever saw and had a bath in the middle of it that looked like it could fit five people. The bath had already been filled and once I got close enough, the sweet smelling mixtures that had been put into the water tickled my nose in the most pleasant way. “Take off your clothes and get in.” The girl said again and I did. Living with girls and sharing bathroom spaces with them for five years took away the urge to be decent around girls and so I had no problem completely stripping off in front of the girl. Although we were allowed to take our bath during the time in the scarlet room, we weren’t given any change of clothes and I had been in the night wear that I had been wearing on the night I had been taken away for all this time and it felt good to shed it off. The water felt warm
Asher’s POV: I hated paperwork. Everything about it felt like it was set to frustrate me. From the tiny fonts of the documents to the never-ending stack of papers that seemed to multiply on my desk every day. It annoyed the shit out of me, but it was still my responsibility and I powered through it knowing that, I would only be coming back to it tomorrow if I decided to pack up and call it a day right now. A knock came on my door once, before it was pushed open and I knew who it was without having to raise my head from my position. There was only one person I knew that would have the audacity to do it. “I didn’t say you could come in,” I said, as I scribbled furiously into the sheets.“I didn’t ask.” Nikolai’s annoying voice filled the space and I raised my head to shoot a glare at him.It didn’t faze him like I expected and instead he moved to settle into the seat opposite me. “It’s almost time for dinner, Asher.” He called and I hummed in response but that was all he got from m
Elysia’s POV:I was never much of a fighter. In truth, I was the opposite of one, but the events of the last couple of days had somehow managed to make me see myself in a different light. I could still remember Michelle’s words from her visit at some point. “I didn’t know you were this foolish, I would have never even brought you with me. You asked to replace your friend! Do you remember? And now you’ve been chosen and you don’t want it? How foolish are you? Many will kill to be in your position!” She had said and the venom in her tone had scared me but I was too angry to hold my tongue. “Then let them take my position.” I spat out and she tsked“That’s the fucking problem! For some reason, the Alpha insists on you which complicates this situation even more. Here’s a piece of advice for you; this is not a game. There’s no price for being stubborn. You don’t get to have a choice in this situation. He’s your king and he has chosen you and you only get two options. Have his heir or
Asher’s POV:I watched the girl in front of me with a frown painting my face. I didn’t understand, was having a child for me that terrible of an idea that she would choose death over it? I knew that I was far from an angel and thanks to my Lycan many people knew me as a demon, but I was sure that I had never met this girl before so I couldn’t understand the hatred that she had for me. I pulled open the door and stepped out of the dungeon room, running into someone the moment that I did.“Really Asher? It’s been one week! One whole week of starving the girl and having her locked up. How far will you go and for how long?” Nikolai said, his eyes glowing with an anger that matched his toneI pushed past him, deciding to ignore him since I didn’t really have an answer for him.“She’s going to die if you continue to leave her there Asher.” He called after me as I made my way down the hall but I continued to ignore him.I gave her an option. She made her choice and there was nothing that I c
Elysia’s POV:A groan escaped my lips as I slowly came into consciousness, every part of me ached like I had been run over by a truck and my eyes seemed to be glued shut because no matter what I did, I couldn’t get them to open. I shifted from my position and a sob escaped my lips at the effort and pain I had to go through for such a simple action. There was an incessant ringing in my ears and it felt like I had fire bubbling within my stomach waiting to burst out at the slightest opportunity. I felt the tears as it slipped past my closed eyes and for some reason it made me feel even worse.I could barely feel my wolf and for a second, I panicked that she had died due to the torture and starvation but just as the thought crossed my mind, I felt her stir from within and it reassured me. I shuffled once more on the bed before letting out a sigh and letting the sleep take over once again. The next time that I came awake, it was to a familiar scent somewhere around me. I felt better than
Elysia’s POV: I sat in place for several seconds, trying to weigh my options. I could already guess what he had to say to me and no part of me wanted to even give him a chance to say them. Our last encounter at dinner had ended with him locking me up in a dungeon and leaving me to die, I couldn’t put it past him to try and do the same thing over and over again, for as long as it took me to break.“It’s okay. He won’t hurt you again, that I can promise.” Nikolai, as if reading my doubtful thoughts said beside me and I nodded, taking the hand that he offered before slipping out of bed. He led me out of the room and for a moment it crossed my mind that I had not taken a normal bath in maybe weeks and I could only imagine what my outward appearance looked like at the moment. I tucked a strand of hair behind my eyes and attempted to straighten my dress as I walked behind Nikolai, I might have just been through the worst hell but I wasn’t going to allow that monster to get the satisfactio
ELYSIA'S POVBoth I and Asher were over the moon that night after we returned home with our set of twins. We were welcomed home by all the excited pack members and and the servants in the palace when we returned home with our children. They must have been waiting outside the palace as soon as they heard about my delivery.Neither I nor Asher could get any sleep that night because we were too excited. Even the food we were served for rejected because we could not eat it.Instead, we both sat awake watching the faces of the two children."Miraculous isn't it?" Asher asked me as we sat over the babies' cot watching the sleep."We expected just one child, but the goddess ended up giving us two." He told me.I had a bright smile on my face because I had other things in mind.It was difficult for he to believe the drastic turn around in my life within the past year. I remembered that I had come here as I breeder, but here I was, as the Luna and with a set of twins for the Alpha.I began to
ELYSIAI let out a soft gasp and took in a deep breath when I felt the sharp pain in my stomach for the second time that day. Apart from the cramp in my stomach, it was more difficult trying to keep a straight face and pretending to be fine even when I felt that much pain. I tried to ignore the pain, hoping that it would go away soon. After all that wasn't the first time and the doctor had told me several times that the pain was normal. It was already nine months into my pregnancy but I was not yet close to the delivery date the doctor had given me.I was helping out at work in the pack. I had been doing that ever since because Asher had refused to assign another beta after what happened with Nikolai so I had been doing most of the beta work. And I must confess that it had been an interesting one for me all this while since it gave me a sense of belonging and I no longer felt left out.Soon, Asher came in with dinner for me. My eyes lit up the moment I saw him."You look stressed." He
ELYSIA'S POVThe tension which was starting to rise in me since I woke up and found myself in shackles under Nikolai quickly began to clear as soon as my eyes met with Asher's. I sucked in a breath and tried not to let the relief show on my face and instead, keep distracting Nikolai so that Asher could get all the time to do whatever he had to do."Why are you doing this, Nikolai? I thought you and Asher were friends, he trusted you with his life and you chose to do this to him."I was actually really surprised that Nikolai was doing this, despite all the trust Asher had in him."Why am I doing this?" Nikolai scoffed."It's because I'm pained, you moron." He fired at me."I hate the fact that Asher has always been the one to get all the good things. He is the Alpha while I was just his side dog who followed him around like a faithful servant." He fumed."And among all, he is cruel and wicked, while I clean up his messes. Do you know how tiring it is having to be the one to clean up th
ASHER'S POVWhen I got back from the errand I had to run, I went straight into the room to find Elysia. All through my drive back home, my mind had been on Elysia, I could not just wait for the evening so that we would go back to our pack and enjoy the peace which we had missed for the past few months. There was a smile on my face when I pushed the door open because I had gotten Elysia one of her favourite snacks and I was anticipating the look on her face when I handed it over to her.The smile on my face immediately faded when I pushed the door open and noticed that Elysia was not in the room, and from the look of things, it looked like she had been gone for a long.I got a little apprehensive but didn't think much of it. I brushed it off because I had left her under the care of Nikolai. If anything had gone wrong, he would have called immediately to inform me.I thought they had probably gone out for a walk and would be back soon, so I decided to take that chance and pack up our st
ELYSIA'S POVI woke up after a while to see Asher hovering over me and looking into my face.He had a knot on his forehead which immediately began to fade as soon as he noticed that I was awake. He let out a deep breath and leaned in to hug me.I was lying on the bed while Asher was sitting down and hovering over me. I had no idea for how long we had been like that."Thank God you are awake." He whispered to me."For how long have I been asleep?" I asked him and sat up on the bed."For as long as possible," he teased and felt my temperature with the back of his palm. "We are leaving this evening, and I just want to be sure that I have everything right."I nodded, it was about time we went back home after all."What happened at the meeting? How did it end?" I asked him because I could not remember anything that had happened after I made to storm out of the meeting. He explained to me everything that happened after the goddess took over my body the previous day and how she had warned th
ELYSIA'S POVThe Alphas insisted that I should showcase my powers in front of them in order for them to determine if I would remain as Luna or not.A scoff escaped my lips as I watched him spit out the words with so much authority like they were in their rights.I was infuriated with the audacity of the Alphas to make such a request of me. I considered it a direct insult to both I and Asher.Who gave them the right to make such a request of me? Did they think I was some sort of show dog or something that they could push around the way they liked and use for their entertainment? My jaw tightened and my fists clenched with every single word that left the lips of the Alpha who was addressing us.I burst out when I couldn't take it anymore because they were trying to treat me like a show dog instead of a Luna."What exactly do you take me for?" I lashed out at them. "A puppet? That you can order around the way you like? "Stay away from me, all of you and stop trying to control me." I bark
ASHER'S POVI woke up before Elysia the next morning and I lay beside her till she woke up.She stretched herself and her eyes fluttered open to see me leaning over her and looking at her with a smile on my face. She looked around the room in confusion at first, and it took a while before I realized that she was confused as to where she was. It was equally soothing to note that despite her confusion, Elysia was calm seeing my face there. She blinked rapidly for a while and sat up before she finally recalled where we were."For how long have you been awake?" She asked me."I woke up not long ago," I told her even while knowing that I actually didn't get much sleep because I was worried that the Alphas were going to try something while we were asleep."The meeting is scheduled to be held later today," I told her. "After that, we would go back home where it's peaceful, okay," I assured her.She snuggled closer to me and I put my arms around her protectively and rubbed her back. I heard h
ASHER'S POVWe got ready and packed up that night, and the next morning, we set off for the place where the meeting was to be held.We went with two cars because we needed to take along with us the other people who were in the field the other day and some of my men.I kept having a hitch in my breath all through the morning even while we packed up the things we would be needing for the duration of the meeting into the car."Are you ready?" Elysia turned to me once we were done and I swallowed hard."Yes,"I did not seem to be able to get my heart to be at peace all through the drive there because I was worried. I could not just shake off the feelings that something was going to go wrong.I felt the strong urge to suddenly turn the car around and return to my pack, but I knew I could not do that because whether I liked it or not, I would eventually have to answer to the call of the other Alphas and I realized that the earlier I did that, the better for both I and Elysia.I knew Elysia
ELYSIA'S POVAt first, it felt like I was floating in a cluster of clouds since I could no longer feel my body touching the ground, instead, I felt strong arms around me and holding me closely to a soft body.My eyes fluttered open to see Asher carrying me securely in his arms.I blinked my eyes open and looked into his face."Asher," I mumbled. He looked a little bit upset and didn't even spare me even the slightest smile."What were you doing falling asleep in the nursery where you could have gone to bed?" He asked me crossly.I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck and hugged him."I was trying to put it in order since you were out with Nikolai, you didn't come back on time so I thought I should do something to pass the time," I said, pouting."But, you shouldn't have fallen asleep there, you know sleeping like that on the ground could be dangerous for our child." He said and used one of his hands to push the room door open.I had considered that earlier, but I didn't realize whe
