Chapter 4 A World So Unfamiliar

Walking out of the bureau, West's heavy heart tightened as her eyes wandered around, she could feel the stares from people, who wouldn't stop to look at a disheveled bride.

It was as if she went to steal the wedding dress, her makeup makes her look like a thief that was beaten.

Her eyes wandered around for a while before they landed on the car, a crazy smile formed on her lips as she immediately matched towards it, her expression was unreadable.

She saw some men who looked like bodyguards near the car, but she didn't care as she walked towards the side of the road, her eyes brightened when She saw the concrete stone close by.

Without any delay or hesitation, she took the guards off guard when she grabbed the stone and threw it directly at the car.

The alarm went off and the men immediately became alerted while West stood at the side, her eyes followed the movement of the men who gasped in shock when they saw how the back glass was broken to the ground, leaving a huge hole.

West smiled in contentment when seeing the hole the stone had left, she grinned when the guards faced her.

"Hey you lady, what have you done?? Do you know how much this glass is worth??" One of the men scolded and West folded her arms around her chest.

"And who is the owner of the car?? I want to see the person!" West snapped instead of being scared.

"You want to see me?" The cold voice rang and West subconsciously shuddered, the voice sent a shockwave through her back, and the impulsiveness from earlier seemed to run out of her as she slowly turned to look at the owner of the voice.

Her eyes were met with cold ones, the man had a displeased face on his head as he stared at her.

His tall build towered over her and she felt so small in front of him, now she was becoming scared.

"I-i...the car!" West stuttered as she darted her eyes a bit around the place without trying to look at the man.

"Yes, the car! You destroyed the glass of my car with this wedding dress on, don't you think you're even more pathetic??" Lincoln's eyes wandered from her head to her toes, his scrutinizing and discerning eyes looked at her as if she were some lost sheep.

Her pathetic small figure didn't help either, West didn't back off as the swinging revenge in her head was pushing her to do more.

With a calm look, she stared at the man and held his gaze which made him frown "What do you want me to do with the car??"

Lincoln Harvey scoffed as he snapped "Of course, you have to pay for damages and fix the damn car"

West shrugged "Well I don't have any money on me, I just lost my family and signed a divorce paper with my husband a few seconds after saying 'I do' so... I only have me"

Lincoln furrowed his brows, wondering what he was supposed to do with that information, he just wanted compensation, he wasn't ready to deal with any more drama.

His assistant gazed at the dirty and sweaty West from the back and he bit his lower lip, not knowing how to chase her away because time was precious for them.

Lincoln growled at West "I do not care if you just got wedded and were divorced soon after, I just want you to fix the car since you have such guts to break my car window and not even apologize if I can reconsider"

"I do not have any money with me, but I can compensate with something else," West said as she changed her standing posture.

Lincoln frowned upon hearing that statement and he skeptically asked "And what else do you have??"

West went on straight as she announced "Me"

Lincoln's assistant hiccuped just as her words fell, he choked on his saliva as he coughed a bit while using a hand to close her mouth.

Lincoln's gaze was undeniably cold as he looked at the small woman who was wearing a wedding gown, on a closer look, she looked so familiar and yet still not.

"And what do you have to offer?? I don't need a disheveled sex mate" Lincoln's cold words rendered her a bit speechless but she picked up her guts and replied.

"I do not know what I can offer you but be sure there will be.... I just need you to get married to me"

"And what do I gain by doing so?" Lincoln responded, a bit intrigued by her boldness and how outspoken she was.

She doesn't seem like a woman who was ditched by her husband after marriage and disowned by her family.

"You can have me all to yourself, I just want to get back at every single one of them," West said, Lincoln's eyes fell on her clenched fist, he could tell the determination coursing through her veins and he was ready to take advantage of that.

West waited for him to respond which he did as soon as he proposed "Fine,I agree, let's get married and we're even"

West wanted to ask what he meant by that when he said it finally "Let's get married, I'll help you get back at your husband and your family who disowned you and in return...I'll have you to myself"

His eyes dimmed when he saw her tighten her jaw in determination as she nodded "I agree to it"

Lincoln smiled in his head, thankfully he has seen a replacement for Theodore who backed out of the deal, finally, he would be able to secure his position as CEO of Harvey Groups.

With that, Lincoln led West into the bureau to get their wedding certificates, West didn't feel any regrets as she signed the papers...

'All for revenge' she said to herself as she inputted her signature, she didn't care if she was getting married to a total stranger..all she wanted was to get back at Shawn for deceiving her, Her father for toying with her and to get back the properties that were willed to her. Getting married to a wealthy man like this stranger would be the easiest way possible to bite back.

As she stared at the wedding certificate in her hands, her eyes brimmed with brewing determination in their depths while the stranger's husband gazed at her with interest in his eyes.

Clouded by revenge, West didn't realize how her rash decision had thrust her into a different world...one that was unfamiliar to her, a world of darkness, danger, and deceits...especially, one filled with self-discovery.
