Chapter 2
WHEN she woke up, her whole body was almost numb. Maybe because of her position on the whole trip. She yawned and stretched her arms. All she felt was body pain. When she suddenly realized that she's been dragged to be with this jerk. She quickly got out of the car. She's in the middle of nowhere for Pete's sake!"That stupid jerk! Where did that guy take me!" she said, annoyed to herself. She looked at her surroundings. He was in a secluded place. She also sees a banana farm in the distance while in her other direction is the vast farm. Now where the hell is she at this moment!? The man was not with her and she did not know where he had gone. She opened the backseat door and took her bag. She reached for his cell phone but was very disappointed because her cell phone was not there. It must be taken by him!"Ugh! This is not happening to me!" she shouted in his absence.Because of her frustrations, she took her cigarette holder and cigarette extender. She lit it with the lighter attached to her cigarette holder."This is not happening to me! Fuck!" she whispered softly to herself while smoking the cigarette she was holding. She leaned against the car and observed her surroundings. Yes, the place was quite nice and relaxing. She closed her eyes. Even with cigarette smoke, she can still smell the fresh air. She must be somewhere far from home. That's what immediately came to her mind. She knew something was odd too. Suddenly, someone grabbed the cigarette she was holding. He removed the stick from its connection to her cigarette extender."Smoking is prohibited my lady," he said and stepped on the cigarette she was smoking."What do you think you're doing?" she asked the man with amusement on her face."It's simple, I'm with you so I'm in charge.""Why? Did you also ask me if I wanted to be with you? For your information if you're having amnesia. I was dragged here by you and now you keep on telling me what to do and what should not? You jerk!" she shouted."You are loud," he said and narrowed his eyes on her. She glared back at him. He just smirked. He took her bag from inside the car and pulled her. She was dragged again by force until they stopped in front of the wooden house. Yes! A wooden—vintage house to be exact."Where did you take me!?" she asked again and removed his hand that was holding her left arm."In my home," he replied sparingly. Her lips parted. No freaking way! An old woman came out and met them both."Gabrielle? Son, I think you came home early and—" she stopped when she saw her. Gabrielle approached the old woman."Mom, it's an emergency that's why I came home early. It's Kathleen, my boss's daughter. She's here for the time being while my boss fixes something important." The old woman looked at her. She smiled rawly at Gabrielle's mother. The old man also gave her a sweet smile. His mother approached her then."Come on ija, come in. I'm sorry about our house, I know it's not what you're used to but I'm sure you'll feel comfortable here." Her eyes widened as she looked at Gabrielle. He did nothing and just stared at her."Okay," she weakly answered at Gabrielle's Mother. Now she feels like she lost her tongue. She also doesn't want to be rude to the old woman."Gabrielle, come and I will prepare breakfast for you," said the old woman. Gabrielle suddenly wrapped his arm around her waist and made her sit on the rattan chair."Behave," he said sternly. She swallowed. Oh crap! She felt as if her tongue had completely disappeared because she couldn't even speak immediately."Mom, I bought something for breakfast in the village, don't bother cooking," said Gabrielle."Oh that's great, give it to me and I'll serve it." Gabrielle immediately moved to give her the plastic bags he was carrying. Gabrielle then sat down in another chair facing her."Could you please tell me what was going on?" she asked Gabrielle softly."When your father calls, then you'll know."She stomps weakly on the floor. It's a good thing the floor is made of cement because if it happened to be made of wood it would really make a lot of noise."Don't you have a mind of your own? You could just tell me what's going on, right? Why do I have to wait for Papa to call!" Her voice almost rose but she still controlled herself and acted calm even though the truth was that she was about to explode. What she didn't want more than anything was giving her an alibi. She doesn't want suspense. She heard him sigh."Eat first," he ordered and suddenly stood up."Hey! Wait!" She chased but suddenly he left the house."Kathleen, excuse me for the behavior of my son, he's really that rude when he's having a problem. He seems to have a hard time separating it from his work and—" Gabrielle suddenly returned."Mom," he stopped and stared seriously at the old woman. His mother laughed cheerfully."Oh, sorry. I'm so talkative. Well, Kathleen, you should eat. I'll leave you two for now. I'll just call your father Gabrielle.""Alright," Gabrielle replied. The old woman left and the two of them were silent. Her eyes were wide open and she stared at the man almost without blinking. She couldn't quite figure out why the man had brought her to this place. They have many rest houses that they can go to and live in temporarily, but her expectations were broken. This is beyond her imagination! Her ears and nose almost burned because of holding back her anger.Chapter 3 "You should be supposed to treat me well," she said almost in a whisper. "That's what I did," he replied while serving her breakfast. "You're not!" she answered weakly but some tendons were coming out of her neck. She got really annoyed, knowing that she'll be stuck in this place. "My patience is not very high so don't try me," he warned. She was suddenly shocked from what she heard. He's threatening her and he's not joking about it. He says that without batting his eyelashes. She swallowed hard and was more annoyed. "Your father will call any time soon. He will explain to you why I have to bring you here." She didn't say a word and just rolled her eyes on him. She then smelled the roasted chicken that he put on the table. Her stomach growls. She hadn't eaten since last night and she couldn't deny that she was really hungry. "Eat," he ordered and put food on the plate in front of her. She bit her lower lip. She wanted to be stubborn but she was really hungry. Her lips
Chapter 4 "I'm going to lose myself even more, Papa, especially since this bodyguard you sent to watch over me is so disrespectful!" Her voice was about to reach a high pitch but she was talking to her father. She still has to respect him. She heard his father laugh again. "Love, I was just making sure that you're safe and I trust Gabrielle—" "Well, I don't trust him," she immediately interjected. "Love, I am in a state of danger. I just don't want you to be affected by your Godfather Albert's problem." She frowned. "What are you saying Papa?" "Your godfather Albert borrowed money from a big-time loan shark. The amount he owed was millions and your Godfather Albert made me the collateral. I was so stressed knowing that problem—" "Wait! What!? How did he make you a collateral Papa? Did he blackmail you?" She heard her father sighed on the other line. "Those loan sharks were a friend of mine and Albert, ija. I didn't know Albert was addicted to playing poker. Your godfather Albe
Chapter 5 The couple smiled at her. But she was still really uneasy. It's like Gabrielle was adopted because he doesn't look alike to them, and he really didn't inherit it from the couple. Gabrielle's face looks like he's half foreigner. Yes, it's like he's a foreigner and she doubts his personality even more because he's fluent in speaking English. Well, speaking of that kind of matter, everyone can talk or be fluent but Gabrielle has his own unique accent. "Kathleen?" Susana snapped at her. She pulled herself out on her own reverie. She was a little bit out of space."Yes? Let's go inside. Are you hungry? Did you eat a lot?" "Yes," she answered sparingly. Efren approached Gabrielle. They were talking about something and she just didn't know what because they were too far away. "I'm sorry to ask this aunty Susana about Gabrielle? Is he really your son?" she suddenly asked frankly. Then her eyes widened because she was stunned by her question too when she realized it. Damn it! Su
Chapter 6 SHE moaned when she felt as if someone touched her hair. She opened her eyes. Gabrielle is sitting at the wooden chair, giving her an impassive look. She frowned. "What?" she asked. "What did you ask my parents?" Gabrielle asked in a serious tone. "Nothing," she muttered with a shrug. "Next time, don't interfere in other people's lives." He stood up and left her. Her ears perked up because of what he said. She immediately got off the hammock and followed Gabrielle. "I am not interfering in your life!" she said while tailing him. But then Gabrielle suddenly stopped causing her face to sink behind him. "Shit!" she murmured weakly while holding her nose. "Then don't be too nosy," he said, giving her a warning tone. "And who are you to stop me, anyway? You have to remember this! You're just a bodyguard! My father pays you, so don't even interfere in my life too!" she said angrily as she walked out but Gabrielle quickly pulled her away. He held her tightly by her left
Chapter 7 SHE slapped her forehead. She's really out of her mind. She sighed and went back to sleep. Maybe she will feel better after she takes a nap. Damn it!IT WAS late afternoon when she woke up. She looked at her wrist watch. It was already five in the afternoon and she suddenly felt a headache. Maybe, because she overslept and didn't realize the time. She suddenly heard a noise outside so she got up and pushed the window gently. She peeked outside. Gabrielle was having fun with other men and they're also drinking alcohol. Someone then suddenly knocked on the door so she immediately left the window and fixed herself. She opened the door. It turned out to be Susana, Gabrielle's mother. "Good afternoon," she greeted her. "I thought you were still asleep Kathleen. I was worried about you suddenly because you locked yourself up in this room for a few hours." She smiled at her shyly and scratched her head. "I'm sorry, mom. I just had a good sleep and I didn't realize the time."
Chapter 8KATHLEEN did not realize that she fell asleep again because of her excessive crying. When she's finally back to her senses, she stretched out her arms. Her headache is killing her. She maybe kinda overslept and she just only now experienced sleeping all day without doing anything. Well, she's a workaholic and a hard-working woman. It's not her style to sleep and spread out on bed days. She only sleeps for five hours because she is super busy supervising her own business. But now is different because she's stuck at Gabrielle's den. She gasped violently and groaned in annoyance. She stretches her arms and legs once more. Then after that, she faces on her left side. Her soul almost burst out of shock when she saw Gabrielle next to her. She quickly got up and huddled in the corner. She gently kicked his leg but she got no response. She crawled closer to him and gently shook his shoulder. He didn't react. He's sleeping nice and sound, plus, she really can smell he was reek of a
Chapter 9 THE next day Kathleen woke up early because she didn't sleep well. Because she constantly feasts on mosquitoes. She also constantly scratches her arms and legs. When she's finally fully wide awake, Gabrielle is no longer by her side. She got up and left the room. She went down the stairs while she was still constantly scratching both of her arms. "Good morning, Kathleen. Did you sleep well?" Susana greeted her with a sweet smile on her face. She was carrying a bag and looked like she had just come from the wet market. "It's fine," she replied but still didn't want to stop scratching her arms."Wait, what happened to your arms?" said Susana while examining her arms. "My God! You have so many mosquito bites. Didn't you and Gabrielle use a mosquito net last night?" She quickly shook her head. "Oh dear! Wait, I'll get you an ointment from my room." "Mom, I'm okay. You don't have to worry about me," she immediately stopped Susana but the old lady didn't listen to her. Gab
Chapter 10 WHEN they got to town, Kathleen almost winced because of the amount of people she saw. "What's with that face? Are you acting again?" Gabrielle turned to her after turning off the car's engine. "I'm not! You're really judgmental! I was just surprised because I thought your place was very remote, because the houses were far away. Then I'll see here, there are still a lot of people," she answered while still focusing attention on people who are busy in their lives. "You're just ignorant," Gabrielle commented to her with a frown. She squinted and rolled her eyes at him. And before she could react, he immediately went outside of the car. She just sighed in annoyance. She also got out of the car. She looked for Gabrielle and was surprised because he was right behind her. "Damn it!" she moaned weakly while touching her chest. "Avoid drinking so much coffee. You're getting too nervous," Gabrielle said while frowning at her again. She was so annoyed and that caused her to be
Chapter 14 KATHLEEN was just looking at them intently. They are super busy preparing their dinner. She bit her bottom lip hard. She looked like their employer. "Mom, do you want me to help you?" she asked Susana. "Please don't Kathleen. Just sit there. This beef stew I'm cooking is about to finish," Susana replied, smiling at her. She smiled at her and just sat down, waiting. Gabrielle suddenly came and sat in the chair opposite to her. "Hello brother Gabrielle!" Janette greeted him. Gabrielle didn't respond and just looked at her. She raised her left eyebrow."What!?" she asked him in a low voice. "We'll talk later," he plainly said. She just rolled his eyes. Susana and Janette had already finished their preparations so they sat down. Janette sat next to her. Efren also arrived and they had dinner together. While eating, Janette kept glancing at her. Kathleen felt very awkward but she didn't ask Janette. Because Gabrielle was in front of them. He might think that she is gossip
Chapter 13 "What are you doing?" "Oh, frog! Shit!" she exclaimed as she clutched her chest. She was startled. She immediately turned to Gabrielle. "Freak!" she annoyingly said and raised her brow on him. But she stopped when she immediately noticed the towel and blue dress he was holding. Gabrielle's eyes narrowed at her. "What are you getting?" he asked as he approached her. He even pulled her hand. "Can't you see it? It's stones?" "I'm not blind. What are you going to do with these stones?" "Why? What do you care what I will do to these stones?" "I forbid you to do whatever you want to do." She scoffs. "You're too much of a killjoy and overreacting. Is Mother Nature your girlfriend to stop me from picking rocks?" She asked, smirking. "Shut up. You have no use for that either. You're not in your workplace." "Ah, so I have to go to the shop first before I pick up the stones. You know what? You think so abnormally too, don't you know that? You're so hard to talk to! Ugh! I'm
Chapter 12 AFTER she and Gabrielle had a quarrel, Susana called them for lunch. She immediately took action and went to the kitchen. Gabrielle was already at the table, eating. She sat next to him without saying a word. She was stunned when he suddenly served her food on her plate. "I can handle it myself," she said immediately and took the spoon. He didn't insist then and just let her. She ate quietly and so did Susana. Few minutes later, Susana suddenly became silent and simply turned to her when she raised her head. "Did you fight again? The two of you?" Susana suddenly asked. She swallowed hard and immediately drank water. "No. We're not," Gabrielle answered simply. Kathleen twitched her lips for disagreeing with what he said. "How was your trip at the market? Did you enjoy yourself there Kathleen?" said Susana. She was about to answer when Gabrielle suddenly turned to her. He stared at her evilly. She was almost in agony. She faced Susana. "It's fine, mom…" she said and sm
Chapter 11 KATHLEEN feels very annoyed now because he humiliated her. "Me? A maid!? What the fuck is he talking about!? I'm not his fucking maid!" she exclaims in annoyance to the void. She then stood up and slightly faced the side mirror of the car to check her appearance. She looked more decent wearing her beautiful branded dress. Her makeup is fine and she doesn't look haggard. But why the hell is Gabrielle looking down at her beauty!? Damn it! That made her more pissed! She kicked the tire of Gabrielle's car in annoyance. "You're bull shit Gabrielle! Bull shit!" she reaped. "Are you mad about what happened earlier?" Gabrielle suddenly spoke behind her. She was startled and clutched her chest. She inhaled and exhaled deeply before she faced him. "Open this goddamn car," she ordered it firmly. Gabrielle shakes his head but still obliges to her command. Gabrielle opened the car door and she immediately got inside. Gabrielle also turned around on the other side and immediately
