Alexandra's POV

“Do you Alexandra Scott take Asher Sinclair as your husband?” The priest asked.

“Yes I do” I gave a reply, with a smile on my face as I beamed with joy.

That was the happiest moment of my life, the happiest moment from the past three years. The day I got married to Asher. I had taken him as my husband and he took me as his wife, with smiles on our faces and a passionate kiss thereafter.

We had a vow, one I couldn't forget in my whole life, one I thought would stay valid till we both grow old.

“Till death do us part”

Asher had said those words to me and I did the same.

“I love you” he said that to me multiple times in those years we were happily married. But now…. He had brought me divorce papers.

With my weak hands, I grabbed the papers, staring at them again, and I chuckled. He wants me to leave?

It took me a several months before I was able to fully trust Asher because we had only dated for four months before we got married. Everyone was against dating the billionaire I barely knew but I was blinded by his warm smile and the first sight love I had for him. Unknown to me that all he had in stock for me was deceit.

I read through the papers and scoffed reading to a particular point, “Leave the house within 24 hours and note that NO COMPENSATIONS WILL BE GIVEN”

He clearly stated in the divorce letters that I had to leave before a day runs out and there would be nothing for me. I had trusted him and gave him all the massive wealth I was able to acquire being the only daughter of a rich conglomerate.

I didn't leave anything out when I gave him everything, the shares I had in my Dad's company were also given to Asher, my lovely husband.

“You are a fool, Alexandra!” I snapped at myself getting off the floor regaining my senses. I wasn't supposed to be sitting here, sulking over my broken marriage and my cousin's betrayal.

I walked upstairs, stepping into the bedroom as I walked to my drawer, packing my clothes into my bag in a hurry, he wanted me to leave and I would do just that.

I packed roughly and was done in no time , I made sure nothing was left, everything was empty.

I grabbed the bag and moved towards the door but was forced to stop, taking one last glance at the room.

The faint scent of Asher's cologne which filled the entire room. My eyes roamed the room and my gaze fell on the photo frame on the bedside table. I sniffled back tears as I moved towards it, picking it up with my gaze lost on it.

The very first picture we had together after our marriage, on our honeymoon. I dropped the picture, refusing to break down again but my eyes couldn't stop roaming around the room taking in the things in there as if it's the first time I'd be seeing them.

I opened the first drawer of the table and there was emptiness except one thing I had kept especially in the drawer. My wedding ring.

I took it and smiled, sliding it on the same way Asher had on our wedding day, it still looked good on me just like back then. I laughed, a laugh laced with bitterness as I dropped the ring, looking around once again.

The bed, the sheets and the empty spaces. It made memories rush to me like a whirlwind.

“Asher! What are you doing?” I had yelled as I got off the bed and walked out of the room.

My gaze moved from the bed to the door, as if I was following the memory to be able to see enough of it. I walked towards the door, with my gaze falling to the kitchen.

“Asher, you are going to burn the eggs!!” I yelled again, seeing Asher in the kitchen preparing breakfast.

“Well, if I burn them, you will still eat it, won't you?” Asher had said, with a wide smile that reached the corners of his eyes.

“Why should I?” I laughed so heartily.

“Because that's what a good wife does” he answered, his face still crinkled with a smile.

“A good wife wouldn't allow her husband to burn down the whole kitchen” I had said and joined him in cooking breakfast together.

I choked on a bitter laugh, realizing how foolish I had been and how his warm touch, reassuring kisses had kept me in the world of darkness, the walls of deceit he had built.

I shut my eyes and opened them almost immediately, the safe haven from the memories turning to a lifeless space only I was dwelling in.

I turned, walked to my bag and wheeled it out of the room. There was nothing I could do, the clauses said, I shouldn't be in the house for more than twenty four hours but it'd be better to leave now.

I walked downstairs, my gaze lingering on the papers once more before I picked a pen and signed it. With that, I didn't turn back as I left the mansion.

It was just around 7pm, so I took a cab to my parents house, the place where I had thrown a tantrum when they told me not to get married to Asher but I blatantly refused. They didn't like him, my father didn't.

I stood in front of our mansion staring at it for a while before I decided to walk in, I entered the sitting room and my Dad was seated like he had been expecting me.

“Go back to wherever you were coming from, Sandra” Dad said, his words shocking me to the bone marrow. My own family aren't abandoning me right now, are they?

“Dad--i…” I didn't get to finish when he slammed the newspaper on the table to the floor right in front of me.

“You are a disgrace, Sandra! Leave!” He yelled.

“No, this isn't happening” That was all I could mutter.

Hearing this from him right now, made my heart shatter into pieces again like a broken glass which couldn't be mended. “Dad, what have I done wrong?” I asked, my voice coming out shaky between my tears. “Why is everyone doing this to me?” I asked myself, my voice barely a whisper. “Oh! Alexandra's POV I took the last step into the room and sighed, my shoulders slumping down as I did that. “He isn't here” I muttered to myself, then picked my phone up, putting a call across to my cousin, Theresa. She picked on the first ring and her low voice came from the other end of the phone. “Home already?” Theresa asked, and I nodded like she could see me from where she was. “Yes, I'm home, but he isn't here, Asher didn't come home again” I complained, tears welling up at the corner of my eyes, blurring my vision. “Calm down Sandra” Theresa said, but I couldn't. I sniffled back tears but they still came trickling down my face. “It's been like this for months, Theresa” I said, my voice barely above a whisper as I said those words. “Maybe he is just late, he will be home soon, he just got off work, remember?” Theresa said, her voice muffled as if she was being cautious as someone was around her. Knowing this, I didn't want to inconvenience her further with my problems, and
