The warmth that welcomed him as soon as he got to his house was overwhelming. The smell of freshly cooked chicken noodle soup hit him hard making him salivate. His stomach got the message too as it grumbled loudly.
"D, you are home!" Aliyah smiled brightly.
Divine's breath hitched. His wolf was screaming happily at the sight. Every instinct in him was telling him to embrace her in a hug.
He walked closer to her and stood in front of her. He took in the way her eyes shone as she smiled. He raised his hand to her face and held her cheek. She blushed furiously.
"How are you?" He asked.
"I'm alright. How was your trip?" She said.
"It was fine. Did Giselle come to check in you?"
"Yes she did. She is very lovely."
"Did she say something to you?" He asked his hand still on her cheek.
"What?!" Aliyah asked blushing again.
"When I just mentioned her name you looked away."
"We were just talking about things. She told me you like chicken noodle soup and brought all I needed for it." Aliyah said bravely.
"Your are is still blushing by the way....." Divine said teasing her.
"Come on. Go freshen up and we will eat." She said gesturing for him to go.
He stroked her cheek slowly then walked away.
He went into the bathroom and found hot water there. Did she heat this for him? Was she okay? Did she burn herself again? He went back to the kitchen glad that the coal was not producing smoke.
He found her holding her hand to her cheek. He stalked towards her and took her hand.
"Did you burn your hand again?" He asked taking it.
"No. I'm fine." She said smiling. "It's healed anyway. Which is strange."
"What do you mean strange?" He asked curious now.
"Ever since my wolf was bound I had a hard time healing. But the burn from the other day is gone. Completely."
"Really?"
"It would have taken me a week at least." She said inspecting her hand.
"Good thing then?"
"Yes. How is your wound anyway?" She asked him gesturing to part of his abdomen.
"It's all healed now." He said. "I will go take that bath now." He left.
He took a bath, dressed and went to the small space he called a dining. He sat down to eat. Aliyah stood in the doorway watching him.
"You won't let me eat alone will you?" He asked her.
"I want to see your face when you taste that." She said excitedly.
"You can do that while sitting right here." He said gesturing to the chair opposite him.
She sat down in it and served herself.
He took a spoon and shoved the food into his mouth. He moaned loudly.
"My goodness." He said.
"Do you like it?"
"Didn't you just hear me moan? I love it. Here taste this." He gave her a spoonful of the dish. She smiled.
"I like it." She said. "Giselle told me you liked this dish so I put in a few things I know."
"You know, I would die happily right now.." He said.
Aliyah gasped. "Don't say that!" She said
Divine laughed. "Relax. It was a joke."
They ate their food in silence. When they finished, Divine stood up and grabbed the dishes then pressed a kiss on Aliyah's forehead. "Thank you." He said.
She just smiled and nodded.
He went to the kitchen and washed the dirty dishes.
He found Aliyah asleep on the soft chair in the living room. He picked a blanket and covers d her with it. She looked peaceful while sleeping .
He took time to study her face. She had taken time and effort to make his favorite meal. He felt like a king. He contemplated on bringing her with him to his grandfather. What if he was wrong about her being his mate. He could not afford to be broken all over again.
*'She is mate'* His wolf subconscious said.
Suddenly she opened her eyes and looked at him. He was caught in a trance. He leaned in,touching his lips with hers then they kissed. Her hand sprung up onto his face.
A fire ignited from his lips to his whole body. Every one of his nerves came alive. His soul danced happily. He saw her and him happily laughing as they looked at something. They got older and older but they were still happy together.
He growled and deepened the kiss, he lifted her to a sitting position still kissing her like his life depended on it. This made her wrap her hands around his neck. He stumbled back and got up from her.
"Divine....please don't leave me." She said almost in a whimper.
He stilled the walked back to her. He cupped her face and kissed her.
"I'm not leaving you. I do not want to lose control and do something you will regret." He said, his voice hoarse.
"I'm sorry." She said trying to hide the tears that had already started to fall from her eyes.
"Shhh. Don't be. I really liked this. I just want you to be sure about this. I may not be...."
"What? My mate? I know that you are. Why won't you let me in Divine." She said angry tears threatening to fall again. "Please don't reject me."
He kissed her on each eye. "I would never." He held her in an embrace. "Will you come with me for a little while?"
She nodded her head clutching on his his shirt.
He walked with her outside the house holding her close to him.
"Do you trust me?" He asked her.
"I do." She said looking up at him.
He hoisted her up his back, giving her a piggy back ride. "Close your eyes and grab on. I will tell you when to open okay?"
She nodded and did as told.
There was a rush of great wind past them as he shifted his eyes and focused his mind. In almost a minute he got to his destination.
"You can open your eyes now." He told her.
She did so and the sight in front if her took her breath away. They were stood in front of a lake whose water gave a beautiful orange and green glow with where the sunset hit the water. It looked serene. There were white lights in eagle shapes flying about.
"What is this place?" She asked in awe.
"It is an enchanted part of the lake. No one sees it except a chosen few." He told her."It is a marvel." She said looking around. "Wait, how did we get here so fast." She asked looking at him."I have gifts." He told her while sitting down on the grass.
He could have told her that some members of his family, especially his mother's side had strange abilities. This was because their grandmother was a light witch who was strong enough to pass those abilities to her grandchildren skipping a generation.
He was very fast and could create teleportation portals. It took a lot of energy to do and only Orion, Mik and Quentin knew about the speed not the portals. Like few of his family and friends he could only shift part of their body at will. Mik had the ability to make himself and those he touched invisible at will while Quentin was physically stronger than normal for a wolf, he was also able to hide his scent."You look tired." She commented and motioned for him to lay back on the ground.
After a while of laying there and enjoying the wonderful sight and breeze, Divine turned and spoke.
"Listen Ali, I know this will sound disturbing but I have to ask you something?"
"I am listening."
"Have you ever called out to me before consciously?"
"Well, no. But I remember panicking this other time and a voce just...." She paused.
"Talk to me love." He said caressing her cheek again.
"The first days I had nightmares here, there was a voice in my head, like a part of my soul that was pulling me out of the darkness and repeating your name over and over again." She said then sat up."Do you know what that was?" He asked her sitting up too.
She shook her head looking at him intently.
"It was your wolf. She was calling out to her mate.....""What? That has never happened before."Divine could not help the anger that bubbled up in him when he thought about her calling out to someone else. He quickly erased the thought when he remembered she said it had never happened before.
"How do you mean?""I mean my wolf has never been so active to call out to anyone or come out to me ever since it was bound. It only did the day I woke up I'm this place." They stayed there silently staring at each other. The sun had gone down and the moon was up. The charged atmosphere between them seemed to get more heated with every passing second. Suddenly there kissing and touching, hands all over each other.Divine was in pure bliss. He felt like he had been reborn and every instinct was telling him to mark her right then."No no no no...." Divine said pulling away from her. "I can't do this...."
"D....." She said."No I'm sorry. I was being selfish. We have to wait for the moon festival to be sure...""Seriously Divine? You still doubt I am your mate?" She said sadness lacing her voice."I don't. I just really need to be ...." He said backing off still. He got up before finishing his statement. He walked towards the water and dipped his feet in slowly walking into the lake. He needed to calm himself down. He was only knee deep into the water when he heard a whimper that had his heart pounding really hard against his ribs.He looked back and saw Aliyah clutching her stomach in pain. He rushed to her before she fell completely.
"Aliyah!"
"Divine!!!"
He held her but her body was heating up really fast.
"What's wrong love? Tell me what hurts."
Aliyah opened her eyes and they were glowing a violet hue.
"Everything burns! My stomach hurts! Please make it stop D, please." She cried.
He had an idea of what was happening to her but he had to be sure. He could not take her to his pack's healers though. He did not want them to know about her yet.
He reestablished the mindlink with Mik and Orion and gave them instructions. He had to ease the pain she was in and kissed her. She stopped whimpering for a little while but the pain came back in full force. Why was this very hard and painful for her? Had she not been in heat before? Then he remembered her wolf had been bound.
He almost cried seeing her like that. He was angry with himself, how could he ease her pain and it freaked him out.He focused his energy and made a portal to the only other person he knew would help him.

He found himself a short distance from the Rainbow pack's compound and run at an impossible speed. As soon as he did, he mind linked with his grandfather."Divine? What is going on?" He asked. 'Please help me." He thought back. He saw his grandfather, his beta and delta and a healer by the entrance."My mate is in pain, I think she is in heat but I can't seem to help her much." He said almost breaking. They were all stunned into silence. His grandfather recovered quickly and motioned them to the the upper room in his quarters. He laid her on the bed there and two more healers walked in with some blankets, warm water and herbs. One of them was about to touch Aliyah when Divine growled."Don't touch my mate!" He almost screamed."Divine son, you have to let them help her." The Beta, who was also his uncle on his mother's side said.Alpha Romulus looked at him with a pleading look and he nodded to the healers not letting go of her han
Slowly circling the unmoving figure, he approached like a predator to its prey. He had found her! That's what kept ringing in his mind. He found himself in his human form. "Aliyah....." He called out in a gentle voice. She turned to him but did not get up. She let out a whine. "I'm not worthy of you." She thought. "Why would you think that?" He asked. "Wait.... You can hear my thought?" "Yes. It's the mind link....." He told her. "Why do you say such things?""I can't shift, I can't even handle a little heat!" She cried out in frustration. "But you are an amazing person. I know we have known each other for a little while but I have seen how you care about other people. You have a good heart. It does not matter to me if you can't shift anymore....." He assured her. "You didn't want me....." "I'm sorry I made you feel like that, I thought that what happened to m
Divine woke up with a start. His skin was crawling with small waves of fire. He looked around and saw he was in a room with Aliyah beside him. He remembered where he was and calmed down. Was that just a dream? Why would he dream about being pushed into a ditch at the border of his pack land? He got up to get some water but stopped when he heard a little whine from Aliyah."I will be back soon my little wolf." He whispered in her ear then exited the room. An uneasiness rose within him and settled in his chest. Something was not right."Oh good, you are awake son! Come, wake your brother up." Pop-pop said startling him. "Why do you look like you have seen a ghost?" "Sorry, I just did not expect to see you there. The sun is not up yet, it will be hard to wake either of them up." "Mikhail is awake. Orion.....well, you will see." Pop said.Indeed he saw the door to Mik open and he looked like he did not have enough sleep.
Partially cloudy, the horizon smiling, the orange and violet glow given off by the setting sun made it all serene. There was a certain peace that came in the slumbering and awakening of the sun. If anybody could ask him he preferred them both as they gave way to his favorite star of the sky,the moon. He wondered if the moon goddess shared his sentiments about it. The land of the Rose-Noire pack stood below a gigantic mountain. It was very rich and fertile, surrounded by a thick forest of tall trees and a lake that joined two streams from the East and West. The mahogany trees were in abundance, even more than the fig and eucalyptus. The green grass and other wild trees provided them with fuel. It was a tropical paradise. All members of the pack were responsible for maintain the land and protecting it. Each clan had a specific task for making sure the whole pack had enough food. Some were responsible for the orchard and the vineyard, some ten
Warmth was the first thing she felt when she woke up. Someone was holding her. Had they caught up with her again? Was she back in the dungeon? No, that could not be,it was way colder and had a nasty smell. "Mate." A thought crossed through her mind. She panicked. She opened her eyes and saw that it was a little before sunrise. Had she been kidnapped ? She sat up immediately and run from the small bed she was in. "Calm down. You're okay, you're safe." A wonderful voice said. She scanned the room frantically and saw the source of the voice. His brown eyes had golden circles around them, his face reminded her of spring mornings and stormy nights. It was a forbidden mix that she found rather intriguing. His plump lips set in a line that was almost a smirk. He looked like he had his own sun that lit up everything. Divine wished he could unhear what he had just heard. He wished there weren't so many questions going around his mind. He wished that he could not see the puzzled looks on his friends' faces. "Are you sure you heard her right Vines?" Mik asked. All he could do was nod his head. "Maybe she is not able to do it yet, let's not get ahead of ourselves." Orion tried to reassure. "Think about it friends, when a wolf gets sick or in trouble, fearing for their life in their human form, what is the first thing they do?" He asked them. They looked at him with wide eyes. "Exactly! We shift but she did not. Maybe she...." "No brother, don't think like that. She is a wolf." Orion said. "Her scent is there but not very strong." Mik told him."Wait for her to wake up and she will explain why she can't shift. Do not lose your peace over this." He added. He nodded. "We have to go now. We have you covere
The light was too bright for his suddenly enhanced sight. There were noises that he could not figure out. The bed so felt hot that he sat up. His throat was suddenly dry. What was happening to him? Divine glared at Orion who just gave him a smug look. How in the goddess's name did he become friends with him in the first place? "You know I should have let the lion eat you." He said referring to the time he had saved Orion when they were just pups. "You would have....but would you have been able to sleep at night?" Orion fired back causing Mik to laugh. "Face it, you are a big softie. Why are you giving Aliyah cold shoulders?" "She is not my mate...." "Please! You know she is. Are you scared?" Orion asked. "No! I'm not." "You kind of seem scared to commit brother." Mik said and raised his hand in surrender after Divine growled at him. "Have you not moved on from my sister yet? She has a mate!" Orion said eyes widening. "I am over Mirabel. Come on, it's not that." They had now reached the cross paths. "Okay let's settle this,if you spend a whole day with Aliyah, being a gentleman,I will

Divine arrived at the pack house after day break. He wanted to use the back road but had gone to Mik's house which had one way in, through the village. Orion found them there and accompanied him. Everyone they passed bowed to him and smiled. He wanted to tell them he was not their alpha so he did not deserve that kind of respect. He could not though, something was wrong. The people looked uneasy about something and he saw hope in their eyes when they saw him. Did they think he had come to claim his title? He did not have a mate for heaven's sake. "Yes you do" Orion said He wanted to smack him across the face but just growled at him instead. "One more comment and i will kick you out of the mind link." Divine said. Orion made a gesture of zipping his mouth while laughing. They entered the pack house and could not believe how different it looked. It barely seemed people lived there. The younger boys and girls were scr
