Chapter 5 No Longer Your Mother

The system had informed me that Vincent had been locked in the basement for days.

I cautiously walked in and overheard a woman's anguished moans.

It was Irene.

I navigated the cold, damp walls until I found him. There stood Vincent, close to her, clutching a small knife. His expression was dark and manic.

"You told me," he snarled, his voice low and trembling, "that if I buried my love for Kels, she would stay with me. So, I did it.

"I forced myself to love you, Irene. And yet… why did she still leave me?"

Irene was tortured to the point that she was almost breathless. "You deserve this, Vincent!" she spat weakly, her words laced with bitterness.

"Did you really love me? Take a look at the heart beating in my chest. It's Kelsey's! You deceived me! You swapped out her heart and put it inside me! This heart won't last through the month, will it?"

"So what? Are you worthy of her? If it weren't for your tricks, she would still be alive! You're the one who killed her!" he shouted
