Chapter Seventy-two

''No… no, it can't be.'' Elena's mother cried out, holding the lifeless body of her husband.

Elena, numb and not quite believing what she was seeing, stared at her parents, one dead and one almost at the brink of death as a result of the pain she was feeling within her. Already, police men and patrol vans and some of her father's men were already in every nook and crevice of the mansion as they all tried to get more information concerning this.

It happened all of a sudden, no one expected it and Elena knew that that was what the shooter was banking on. The element of surprise has proven times without number that it was one of the greatest tools of destruction.

Their guards were down because they knew that something like this wouldn't happen but they were wrong, so very wrong and they had been hit when they least expected it.

''I'm sorry.'' a voice said.

Elena couldn't move, couldn't say a word. It was all so surreal because one minute, they were all laughing and joking about her fathe
