Chapter Nine

The next morning, Furina woke up feeling exhausted but a little more hopeful than she had in recent days. Despite the chaos of the previous night, Diluc’s unexpected kindness had offered her a glimmer of reassurance. She had managed to get some sleep, albeit fitfully, in the guest room at Tiffany’s family house. The comfort of the unfamiliar bed and the warmth of Tiffany’s hospitality had helped her regain a sliver of calm.

As she dressed for the day, her phone buzzed with a new message from Tiffany.

“Good morning! I hope you’re feeling better today. Meet me at the café around the corner when you’re ready.”

Furina quickly readied herself and made her way to the café. Tiffany was already seated at a corner table, a steaming coffee in hand. She waved warmly as Furina approached.

“Hey! How are you doing?” Tiffany asked, her voice filled with concern.

Furina sat down across from her. “I’m hanging in there. Last night was... overwhelming, but I’m okay now. Thanks for letting me stay.”
