I was in the garden, kneeling against the floor as I watered the hibiscus, a smile making its way to my lips as I hummed. My mother’s favorite flowers was hibiscus, I remember my father getting her lots of it whenever he could and now, watering the same flowers only brought me nothing but joy.
I tucked a strand of hair that fell to my forehead behind my ear, wiping my face with my other hand, leaning back lightly to admire the work I just did. I paused, scrunching my nose as I got a whiff of the most enticing smell ever, the smell of a long lost cabin in the woods, freshly baked cookies sitting on the window, spring flowers covering every corner of the cabin that’s filled with seasonal vines. The smell of home. I stood up as the scent got thicker with the air, like it was calling out for me and only me. I could feel the taste on my tongue. The smell wasn’t from the garden, I knew that. I looked around, trying to see who or what had such smell, one that made my legs weaken and heartbeat quicken. I hurriedly slipped my slippers on, attempting to walk out of the garden only to see him.He stood right before me in a red sleeveless T-shirt that clung to his body like a second skin. His arms were thick and veiny as his biceps flexed from the slightest movement. His chest muscles were well defined and perfectly chiseled out that it complimented his broad shoulders and matched his overall frame very well. His stomach was flat with a decent six pack peeking out and a tight core that emphasized on perfectly sculpted V shape that dipped into his waist band.He had a crazy blue jeans trousers to match and a black Jordan sneakers. I swallowed hard as my eyes trailed back to his face. A light gasped left my lips as soon as I made eye contact with him. His sea blue eyes seemed to draw me in, eliciting a gasp from me again, his skin was as smooth as butter, I had a sudden urge to run my palms against the smoothness of his skin, watching the sun shinebrightly on his skin, highlighting the golden tanned skin. His hair was fluffy from him raking it throughly? A sandy brown hair that covered his forehead. He had a perfectly sculpted jaw, looking like the goddess herself sculpted him. Thick succulent lips were moulded into his face. “Mate” He whispered loud enough for me to hear. My eyes widen as soon as he grabbed my arm, his eyes growing wide with worry. “You have to leave.” He blurted out. I furrowed my eyebrows, confused by the behavior. “What?” “You have to leave now. I’ll help you escape here and my father won’t notice but please, you need to leave now.” He grabbed my hand tighter, pulling me. I jerked my hand back from his hold, “What? I’m going anywhere! I have to stay. I have a reason to stay and I can’t leave.”I barked out. His eyes widen by the tone of my voice, bringing his fingers to massage his temple. “You do not understand, staying here any longer will only endanger your life and I can’t loose you. Not now that I just found you so please, come with me and leave this place.” “I can’t- I have too much at stake! I have just too much at stake and I can’t go. I have something important to do before leaving.” His eyes bore into mine “The pack found out you’re planning to kill him. They found out about your plans and now you have to leave, that’s why I came searching for you. You have to-“ he didn’t get to complete his sentence. A couple of men were running towards our direction, all armed and I recognized them as the warriors from the pack. I swallowed hard, eyes flickering from the men rushing towards me and my mate. He yanked me tightly as we ran, I had to get to safety but how? I held the hem of my skirt and ran as fast as I could with my mate by my side. “They will catch up to us, I’ll distract them but you have to leave! You have to keep running and don’t look back. On no circumstance should you look back.”He yelled. My eyes widened on assimilating what he just said, legs coming to a halt as we rounded a corner “What? You’re coming with me. I’m not leaving you—“ I didn’t get to complete my words as the heavy footsteps of the warriors came barreling in. “Go! I’ll distract them!” He yelled, pushing me towards the direction I could call as the exit. I couldn’t just leave him to his fate. He’s my mate. I can’t just leave him to face all of these by himself. “Go! Don’t stop running and don’t look back.” He yelled, pushing me further. I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat as I ran towards the exit. My mate was no longer with me. I turned back briefly only to see two warriors, pining him down with all their might as another hovered against him, teeth bare as he sneered, pulling out a sharp knife and plunged it deep into his chest.~~~~~~Eyes snapped open, I jolted up from the bed, drenched in sweat and fear, chest heaving heavily as I looked around the room I was kept. I placed my hand against my chest in a bid to calm myself. ‘I’m okay, I’m okay, I’m okay.’ I muttered repeatedly like a chant and got out of bed, I wiped my forehead, flicking the hair that was rather stuck on my forehead away and sighed, reaching for the jar of water and poured it into a cup, gulping it down in a go.I hurriedly reached for the knife I had kept hidden the night before, sighing in relief when it was still there. What sort of dream did I just have? Why in the world would I even be in a garden in this pack to begin with and dream about someone I don’t even know. I couldn’t help but remember just how sinfully good that person was in my dream. Only in my dream would I ever get to see someone like that and well look how it turned out, he was stabbed. I felt worry rumble within me. Why am I worried about someone I don’t know? Why am I worried about a dream?'It’s just a dream, Elena. No need to get worked up about it.’ I muttered and got up from the bed.' I heard a light knock on the door and quickly laid back down on the bed, pretending to be asleep. I didn’t want to talk to anyone yet.Whoever was at the door came in on their own. Talk about privacy. I heard footsteps coming towards my direction but made no move to even open my eyes.It was just one but two people in my room, perhaps the ladies from yesterday. I confirmed it when they started to talk “She’s still asleep? I wanted to hear her voice.”One of them says and I knew it was the one I hadn’t seen yet. “Her voice? Why?” The other replied, walking around the room. “You know, to know just hear how she speaks and if she’s going to be a tough one or another one that Alpha might just break easily.” She whispered lowly as though she could be heard. “Don’t go saying things like that against the Alpha, Carla. We are only here to help her get ready for the mating ceremony and nothing else.” I felt my heartbeat stop for a minute. Mating ceremony is today? I am going to be tied to that monster today and have to accept him as my Alpha even if he isn’t my mate. I’ll have to give up my virginity to the man that invaded my pack and killed my parents. A tear fell down my cheeks before I even realized, luckily the two maids sent to help me were to engrossed in whatever conversation they were having and didn’t even notice my discomfort. “Isn’t it time to wake her? She has to get ready.” I felt someone stand over me, gazing at my figure. “Let her sleep for some few minutes more, after all, her life is going to change in less than two hours.” “Young master hasn’t been seen around, seems like he’s taking the news hard just like we thought he would.” “Well, I’m not surprised. The Young master isn’t one to condone acts of his father but then again, what can he do? Nothing! His father is still the Pack Alpha and therefore holds all power and can down whatever he wants.”The young master? The one from my dream?’ I pondered “Our voices might just wake her up so let’s leave, we’ll be back in thirty minutes.” I couldn’t help but think the last words were directed at me. Maybe she knew I wasn’t asleep but decided not to call me out on my lie. Whatever it was, I’m glad I have thirty minutes to myself. The door got shut and my eyes flew open, I rested my hands against my tummy, staring at the ceiling. In less than two hours, I will have to bare the mark of the man that killed my parents and kidnapped me. In less than two hours, I’ll give up my virginity to some slimy, cocky and evil bastard. In two hours I’ll be closer to my goal of killing Alpha Williams. The voice of my ex-pack alpha rang in my ears 'Kill Williams and avenge your parents’ it echoed in my ears. I will do just that, I’ll bring my parents killer to his knees and kill him. I got up from the bed and walked to the bathroom. Since everyone is preparing for the mating ceremony, I should do my own part and have my bath. A while later, I walked out of the bathroom to see the lady from before in the room, she turned to look at me, her face unreadable. She stared at me hard and just then did I notice what was in her hands. My breathe hitched upon seeing what she had in her hands. Oh fuck. The knife I successfully hid away was in her hands. I slowly looked up at her, her face expressionless. “I can exp-“ She rushed towards me, grabbing me by the shoulders and leaned towards me as though she was hugging me. “If you’re killing William, you’re taking revenge for my parents and younger sister too. I have Wolfsbane. You should drench your knife in it.”Dinner is full of shit. Here I was sitting beside the man beast, Alpha Williams. I had to keep a fake smile on my face and watch as the members of the pack gush about how pretty I looked or how 'graceful’ William looked.I felt a bile rise up my throat when his arms encircled my waist, pulling me closer to him.“A perfect doll, in my opinion.” William voiced out proudly. I felt sick to my stomach when the pack members agreed with him. A perfect doll that would cause his death. How beautiful.William was dressed in a blue royal coat and a crown on his head while I was dressed similarly. I watched as the members of the pack threw compliment upon compliment at the man and he soaked it all in proudly.Williams eyes was stuck on me ever since the beginning of the dinner, I could feel gaze on me every second of the dinner, like he couldn’t wait to have me. I shuddered at the thought of him going down with me.I had to do something and fast. As much as I might loose my virginity to Willi
Jake~The silence in the room would’ve been alarming if I didn’t know the reason. I felt my heart beat plummet faster as I locked eyes with the lady sitting beside William. The air was filled with Vanilla and strawberries. The lady’s eyes wouldn’t leave mine. The room felt empty, like it was only her I could see. Her scent was calling me and I had the strongest urge to claim her right there and then.Mate…My wolf chanted in my head. I swallowed hard, eyes leaving hers and now settling on the hand William had placed against hers. Just like that, I felt every bit of excitement I felt earlier leave my body. Taking a look at the person sitting beside him and how cozy they looked, I felt a bile ride up my throat. This has to be a fucking joke.My mate is William’s soon to be wife? I took a step forward but it only seemed like I got drenched in her scent. Truly, it was surprising as to how the rest of the pack sitting were not bothered with the strong pheromones she was letting out or how
Jake~The smell of Vanilla and Citrus became more potent, filling up the room in a second. My grip around her body tightened. Different scent spiked on perceiving her heat induced scent. Everyone knows she’s in heat now and that’s not good, especially if she’s being exposed like this.“What do you think you’re doing? Get away from her this minute.” William growled. Oh shit. He’s still supposed to mate her even though she’s my mate. How fucked up can this entire thing get? “Everyone out!” I heard someone yell at the top of their voice but my grip around her hasn’t loosened. Surprisingly she had lost consciousness already. I glanced at William whose eyes had turned red from rage, storming towards me angrily. His normal scent is Lemon and ash has turned bitter and dusty. “Let go of her this minute! Are you out of your mind, boy? How dare you touch your future Luna that way?” I could feel my wolf threatening to take over but I had to repress it. I had to be sane.“I can’t.” “What?” He t
Jake ~“So it finally happened, uh?” I swallowed the lump in my throat, taking a second before turning to see the person who had interrupted my alone time. I slid my hands into my pocket, a strain smile laid on my lips as I looked at him.He released a breathe, eyes straying to the portrait behind me. "What do you plan to do? It would be very difficult especially with what has happened.” He voiced out. I agree, the plan is risky. Who am I kidding? The plan is extremely risky but then what can I do? “Life is difficult already as it is.” I say quietly, walking past him to the table, bending lightly and picked the glass I had placed there earlier.“Are you even listening to me, Jake? I know we agreed to take Williams down but with what’s happened, I don’t think we sho-“ he didn’t get to complete his sentence. The glass in my hands fell to the ground, shattered.I watched the particles of broken glass on the floor, a sigh escaping my lips.“So what are you saying, uncle?” I asked, turnin
Jake~The moon is very bright tonight, don’t you think? I stood by the window, watching as the moon shone brightly on the rest of us. A sigh escaped my lips when I didn’t get a reply from my wolf. By this time tomorrow, the pack Alpha would have been declared and finally we would get to know who survived and who didn’t. Surprisingly I was supposed to feel fearful at least. I was going against the most powerful man in the pack. I was going against my father but no. Instead I felt peace. Maybe because I know I would finally be able to get revenge for my mothers death. In any case, I am ready for whatever the next day has to offer. The door creaked slightly, alerting me of the presence of another in the room. Heavy footsteps marched towards me, the scent of Lemon and wet wood filled my nostrils.“Tomorrow’s the big day.” He says quietly as I stepped aside, allowing him space. “I know.”I felt his gaze heavy on me but he didn’t speak. “How do you feel?” He asked after some few minutes.
Elena~Eyes shot open. Air filling my lungs immediately and I gasped out. My body ached from all angle, my skin felt sticky with sweat or maybe something else. I felt hot yet cold at the same time. My head felt ten times fuller. Something wasn’t right with me but I couldn’t pinpoint what exactly was wrong. I groaned, trying to sit up only to fall back on the bed. “Maybe you should lay down for some few minutes before trying again, your body has been through major changes.” Someone said. “Thank you.” I whispered to no one, taking the person’s advice and laid down. Only after some few seconds did I realize no one was in the room with me. I was alone.Okay, what the fuck?I jolted up, snapping my head towards the door and window. Maybe there was someone speaking from there.“Easy there, tiger. You might as well unscrew your neck. I’m in your head or is it heart? Maybe mind..” I scrambled up from the bed, falling with a thud to the floor. “W-what’s going on?” I say out loud, looking ar
Elena~“William’s is dead”I stood there, gaping openly as I assimilated the words that just left his lips. Williams is dead. The tyrant that believes he’s on top of the world is dead. He is now six feet under and hopefully rotting away like the piece of garbage that he is.A chuckle escaped my lips. Jake cocked an eyebrow, lips palmed into a thin line.“I’m sorry, it’s just..it’s funny.” I say but he didn’t look impressed. I groaned internally, rolling my eyes.“So William’s is dead now?” I asked again and he nodded, taking a sit on the chair.“Why did you think I’ll know about that? I’ve been in that room struggling for my life.” I snapped. I probably shouldn’t but I suddenly felt pissed. He leaned against the chair, eyes raking my build. “Stop.” I voiced out. His eyes widened slightly. “What?”"Stop looking at me like that. I don’t like it.” I stated flatly. He paused again, looking at me intently and rolled his eyes.“So are we going to address this?” I asked when he wouldn’t tal
Elena~“What?” I didn’t know what to say, I sat there listening to everything his uncle was saying but I couldn’t get the 3 months out of my head. I have to be here for three whole months? Jake kept trying to get other alternatives but his uncle explained that was the only solution except he wants me to die? “Why do I have to be the one to die when he imprinted?” I voiced out after some few minutes.“So you’re saying I should be the one to die?” Jake asked, voice rough with brewing anger. He’s doesn’t have the right to be angry if he did this. I rolled my eyes, wrapping my hands over my chest “Well, I’m not the one who imprinted, am I?” I shot back in annoyance. I should be reasonable, I know that but I can’t. The thought of not going back to my pack and finding out everything I need is biting me harsh.Jake huffed out, pinching the bridge of his nose “You’re so damn annoying. You think I wanted to imprint? Maybe if you hadn’t fallen into my arms then I wouldn’t have, besides it’s
Epilogue ~One year after. The sun seemed exceptionally bright today. I shifted uncomfortably, sweat beads formed on my forehead, I lifted my arm, wiping my forehead rather awkwardly. A groan escaped me and I stopped, allowing the damaged weed fall from my hand. I straightened my back, wincing slowly on hearing the cracks. “Come inside now, your skin looks too red already.” A familiar voice says behind me. I palmed my lips into a thin line, groaning slightly as I stood up, my knees cracked painfully hard. Okay, maybe I’ve been kneeling down here, uprooting these damn weeds for way too long.“You know, we have a gardener that can do this. It’s literally his job description.” Vanessa says, eyeing my body, her nose scrunched slightly in annoyance. “You know, gardening is good to let out all these stress you’re carrying. Maybe you should join me tomorrow. I still have to clear that part.” I gestured at the other part of the garden that’s still undone. I glanced at Vanessa who was gazi
Elena~Here I was standing in what I would call Jason’s secret. Thousand of boxes were piled against each other. Mitchell had told me about this early this morning , she said her father would always go behind the pack house and I connected it with what I read in the book. I was able to tell Jake about the book Mitchell gave me but he didn’t seem that bothered about it but did tell me to keep the book and that everything would be sorted today. I decided to trail down this path when Jason and Jake got busy but not before telling Jake where I was going to. I still had no idea what Jake was planning but with how confident he seemed. I knew everything would be sorted soon. I heaved deeply, looking at the thousands of boxes stacked inside the boy’s quarters. There were thousand and this is where Jason was keeping it. Keeping them. This is it. What was written in the book is here. I rushed to the boxes piled against each other, immediately carrying one of it down, it was exceptionally heav
Elena~Here I was, sat between Mitchell and Jake. Alpha Jason and the Luna were also sitting, watching the maid dish the food.“How long do you plan on staying?” The Luna asked, gesturing at the maid to stop dishing her food. I furrowed my eyebrows at her question, remembering Mitchell’s had said to not stay long.“A couple of days at most and we’ll be out of your hair.” Jake says, chuckling slightly “You’re welcome to stay as long as you want, Jake. After all your father, the late Alpha Williams was a close friend of mine. Isn’t that right, darling?” Jason said, eyes stuck on his mate, emphasizing on the words a little too intently.I didn’t miss how she flinched even though she tried hard not too. A smile quickly masking her face “Of course, they’re welcome to stay as long as they want.” She replied, voice curt and sharp.“Haha…Thank you for your hospitality but we won’t be able to take much of your time as I also have a pack to run.” Jake says and Jason laughed.“Of course, I und
Elena ~“Welcome back, Elena.” Alpha Jason, Luna and their daughter stood right outside the pack house to welcome us. The alpha had the biggest smile on his face. He had a full regalia on while his wife was dressed in the traditional Luna outfit, they both seemed very different from how they were. His gaze fell on me, taking every inch of my appearance. “Thank you , Alpha Jason for welcoming us into your humble abode so nicely.” Jake says, interrupting the weird look Jason was giving me. Well, it wasn’t that weird but having him smile like he didn’t just trade my life made me squirm uncomfortably. Watching him and his mate look at me like I wasn’t traded cheaply only stirred up something bitter in me.“Please come in, I’m sure you’re both tired and need to rest.” The Luna says, hand grazing my arm lightly as we walked into the pack house, like I said, things have become very different here. The pack house for one was looking more nicer? It wasn’t like this months back but now, it l
Elena~“Are you ready?” Jake asked. I finished zipping my bag, standing up properly. “Yeah, I am.” I replied, watching as his eyes darted around.“You still haven’t told me what your plan is. I don’t think showing up in the Crystal pack without a plan is actually smart.” I say and he nodded, walking towards me with a smile on his face.“You trust me, right?” He asked like I wouldn’t bare my neck to him and let him do as he please without second guessing it.“Of course.” He palmed his lips into a thin line, bringing his hand up to caress my cheek “just trust me, we have to finish up what this is with Jason and the only way we can get into his territory right now is pretend like we are still friends with him. For that, I’ll need you by my side.” He says. That’s the only thing I’ve been able to understand in this whole thing. He hasn’t slipped out about the plan. All I know is that he’s been pretty secretive about it. Of. Course, I know it isn’t about him not trusting me but perhaps it’
Elena~Three months after…“Elena! Elena!” Someone called out my name. I placed the watering can on the floor, removing the hat on my head as I turned to see who was calling out my name. A smile graced my lips as soon as I got a whiff of the tiny footsteps rushing my way.“Careful, you might fall.” I say just as the child reached me, hugging my legs tightly. I giggled, kneeling to hug her.“What’s wrong bey? Shouldn’t you be with Lily?” I asked the child, placing my fingers under her chin, tilting her head upwards slightly to meet my eyes.“She’s being rude and won’t share her plushie with me.” She pouted and I smiled. “Now, why won’t she share her plushie with you? What did you do wrong?“ I asked, the sharp glint in her eyes telling me she had done something.“Beatrice!” Someone yelled agitatedly. I pursed my lips into a thin line on perceiving the scent of an anxious person.“Oh, thank the goddess.” The woman who had been calling out to the child said, slapping her forehead slightl
Elena~Tired. That’s exactly how I felt, waking up in the morning, I felt tired to my bones. The effect of the past two days was telling on my body. I haven’t had a moment to take a break and just rest. “Hey.” Jake whispered next to me. I turned to see him already staring at me, a soft smile made it’s way to his lips. “Hey” I whispered back, locking eyes with him. Our moment was broken when someone knocked on the door.I watched Jake stand up, draping a robe around his body and walked to the door, I couldn’t hear what he was saying nor could I see who interrupted us but it seemed like they came to tell him something.I sat up when he shut the door behind him “What’s wrong?” I asked and he shook his head.“Vanessa asked to see Matthew and Raquel, everyone is downstairs now and waiting for us.” He tells me. I hurried out of bed, rushing to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Vanessa seeing Matthew is definitely not going to be good, especially if Raquel is there. I still remember the cr
Elena~(This chapter is just between Vanessa and Elena.)A loud shriek had me running from where I stood and to Vanessa’s room. I pushed the door open to see Vanessa sobbing loudly, thrashing around even as Darla tried to hold her down.I looked at Darla who was also crying, trying to hold Vanessa down as she thrashed around.“Vanessa.” I whispered, making my way to her. I climbed the bed, pulling her tightly to me.“My baby, not my baby. Not my baby.” She cried out, eyes red and leaking tears, nose snotty. She gripped my sleeve tightly, looking me deeply in the eyes.“E-Elena.” She croaked out sobbing loudly. My heart broke into a thousand pieces watching her cry her heart out. I swallowed the lump in my throat and hugged her. She held unto my shoulder tightly, crying so hard.“My baby. I want my baby. I- I want my baby.” She choked out, crying the more. My throat tighten as I glanced at Darla who was also crying. She hasn’t even heard of what Mathew and Raquel did. “You need to cal
Elena~I pushed the door open, stepping into the room. Jake stood by the window, gazing outside. I stood there for some minutes, watching him sigh.“Hey.” I whispered, walking closer to him. He turned to look at me, a sad small smile making its way to his lips. “Hey.” He replied, stretching his arms apart.“How are you?” I asked. He went quiet, gazing back outside. I didn’t think he was going to reply me anymore. I sighed, wrapping my arms around his waist.“To be honest, I don’t know how I feel. I’m conflicted.” He says honestly and I hummed, waiting for him to speak the more.“There is Vanessa whose life has suddenly changed from having a mate to not having one. I’ve not been close to Vanessa, I mean, I wasn’t that close to Matthew either but she’s always been there, smiling happily, giggling. She has this aura of comfort that radiates through her, making me feel comforted whenever I’m around her. She’s good like that. I’ve not had the opportunity to really get to know her but from
