But wait… something like arms around her…? She's in the room all alone. How can there be something like arms around her?
She startles then immediately wakes up as she pushes that warmed thing.
A loud sound like something heavy echoes around the room, followed after is the voice of someone yelling ouch.
Lydia quickly turns on the light and hides under the blanket. She covers the blanket almost her whole body, only leaving her eyes left to observe.
On the floor, there's a guy with blonde curly hair. He's tall and thin. His glasses are not adjusted. And he is still wearing a lab coat. In Lydia's eyes he's still somewhat half asleep.
"Wait… Ray?"
Lydia opens her eyes wide as if she can't believe the fact in front of her.
"Was it you all along?"
"Urgh… Lyly?"
Raylan is still on the floor. He scratches his head. Looking straight into his eyes, everybody can tell that he's not wide awake yet.
"I must be still dreaming… How can she be here at this moment…"
Raylan muttered. He still doesn't know that the Lydia in front of his eyes is not a dream nor an illusion. The Lydia right in front of him is the real person that deep down inside he's longing for.
"Ray… it's me!"
Lydia said as she stepped out of bed, trying to help him up. But somehow, she trips the blanket and falls right into him.
Catching the beauty in his arms, now that Raylan knows, this is not a dream. His blue eyes wide open as he couldn't believe in himself.
Isn't she still back in their hometown at this moment? Why is she here? And what on Earth is she doing in his room?
Many questions are spinning around Raylan's head as he's still looking at her. Her hazel eyes touch his gaze. And for a moment they both lost in the other's eyes. The deep blue sea and the peaceful chestnut.
The room is covered with silence. No one said a word. They both know this is not a dream nor an illusion but they still fear that if they say something, even just a word, everything will end.
Hearts beat stronger. And their eyes spark. They can see nothing but the person in front of them. They can hear nothing but the heartbeats echo in their lungs. Just for a moment there, it feels like they have nothing but each other.
But even if it's in their best fantasy, nothing lasts forever. And those dreamy dreams end when they both hear the sound of the door click open.
"Hey, Dia, are you okay? I heard you scream?"
Luciano's voice echoes as the door opens. They both startle and jump out of the other's arms.
"Oh? Bigbro? You got home earlier than we expected you to be when you said you won't be back tonight!"
Glancing his eyes around, it's not too hard for Luciano to capture what has happened. Seems like his brother got home early, Lydia thought he was a thief or something and yelled. He thought so and believed so. So Luciano didn't ask anything further. Instead, he just awkwardly smiles.
"Well, since you said you maybe can't make it… Then Lydia and I had a little chit chat longer than we expected so I didn't have time to clean up a room for her. That's when I told her she could use your room for tonight…"
Luciano started to explain everything. Little did he know neither of the two listened to whatever he said as their heads were still up in the clouds thinking of what just happened, missing the warmth and the smell just left their arms.
"So… I'm sorry! Don't blame our little sister on this!"
Luciano ends his speech by an apologize and a cough. That's when both Raylan and Lydia are called back to reality.
"It's fine!"
Raylan said as his cheek was still a little bit red.
"You can have my room for tonight. I'll sleep with Luciano!"
Raylan smiles as he walks out the door.
"And I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep!"
He said in a fruity voice.
And then there's no sign of Raylan inside the room anymore.
"I guess I'll be off too!"
Luciano quickly follows his brother out too. Everything is settled now, he can finally go back to sleep. He just leaves his bed for a tiny bit moment but now he feels like he is missing it already. He really can't wait to go back to his room and sleep straight till morning.
"Oh? Ah! Yes… right…! Please tell him I said goodnight!"
Startled, it took Lydia a moment to open her mouth and give out a reply. Luciano smiles and raises his thumb up. Then inside Raylan's bedroom now there is only one person, Lydia.
She soon collapses into bed when the door closes.
That was not her imagination. That was not a dream. That was not an illusion. And that was not her fantasy. It's all real. All really. His arms, his warmth, his smell, his touch. Him and everything.
Her cheeks turned more red the more she re-think about what happened. Ray. Raylan. Her RayRay… Finally, she is able to meet him after months apart. This longing inside her heart starts to melt. She can't find the right words to express what she's feeling at the moment. All that she knows is her heart now full with happiness. It sparks and it shines.
Just like that, she can't go back to sleep. Little did she know, inside the opposite room, there's a man who also shares the same feeling. And he can't go back to sleep either.
In his mind, there's only her and her shadow. He knew she's small but he never knew she could be so soft, so tiny in his arms.
The moon is still up above giving out the shining silverlight. The stars are shimmering and dazzling, giving out their best twinkle twinkle. The night sky is as dreamy as ever. But the two who are now still wide awake can't see a thing.
All in their head now is only the other even when they're just a door away.
That night, Lydia and Raylan both have a dream. A dream about what happened months ago, her and Raylan's first reunion. At that time, it was nearly the end of Lydia's final high school semester and she decided to get out of town for once in a while. Of course, Raylan's town is too far for her to visit all alone. Especially when she didn't have a driver's license yet. She decided to stop at the brand new open coffee shop in the town next to hers. Her friends kept telling her how amazing cakes at that shop are. So she thought maybe she would give it a go. Even though sweets are never Lydia's favorite. She loves bitter things like original tea or coffee. But her childhood with Raylan, changed her taste. Raylan, on the other hand, is a sweet tooth kind of guy. He usually hides candies in his pocket without telling anyone except Lydia. To him, eating candy in front of others can ruin his mature image that he worked so hard to build. So he hardly eats any candies publicly. But being with
Standing on the sidewalk, there's a girl waving for a taxi ready to leave this city. As the wind blows stronger, she grips on her thick coat, waiting for that yellow car to turn around. Soon, it came. The taxi driver quickly got down and helped her with my luggage, then he politely opened the door for her."To the airport, miss?"She wouldn't be surprised when he asked her that question. Normally anyone looking at her will probably think the same as him. A little girl less than 5'7. A big wool oatmeal beanie covers her long dark golden hair. Her brown leather coat is long enough to cover her own black boots. Luggage full of her hands. She even has a big red scarf around her neck. Her aquamarine eyes spark with excitement like she's ready for her adventure anytime now.If she were another person, looking at the girl like that, she would properly think the same as him. This girl is going somewhere far and she needs to get to the airport. Luciano sits behind the wheel and soon, he drives us away. Lydia silently sits beside him. But her hazel eyes spark as she's longing to explore this new city. Yet, Luciano hasn't started the car."What's wrong?"She asked.Hearing her question, he sights once again."Your sit bell."He replies as he reaches out to her and helps her put it on. Having him so close, she can smell his shampoo. Unlike his shyly looking, he smelled like mint. Fresh and so new. She never knew he could be this quite handsome. Guess time can change people.Luciano in her memory is a timid boy, all shy and never dare to talk to any girl beside her."I'm so proud of you! You've grown into a gentleman!"His face twists a little bit when he hears her comment. "Even though I know it's your compliment, I'm not sure if I can be happy with that. I've always been a gentleman, you know!"He started the car as he was complaining. "And if you think I have changed that much, wait until you meet Ray!"Her eyes lift up a l
"Hey, Dia? Dia? Earth to Dia?"Luciano yells and waves his hand in front of Lydia. And it took her a while to realize that."Huh? Oh? Yes?"Lydia doesn't know how much time she went deep in her thoughts. But looking at his face, she guesses it's quite sometimes. Enough for him to get worried and go pale."You okay?"He asked. She knows she should say something but in the end, she doesn't know what else she can say. She's afraid of changing. She's afraid they three can't stay the same as they were when they were kids. She can't bring them up to her mouth. After all, they're changing doesn't mean what they had is all fake. She's just scared that those days can't continue even when she moves in with them. But she can't tell Luciano that… she can't let his mood down just because of her silly thoughts. "It's okay! Let's get home!"Luciano's eyes froze a little bit but then he said nothing more. After he paid for all the food, he drove her home and they didn't have a word since then.Outs
After finally being left alone in the kitchen, Lydia started to cook right away. She chops the carrots by using the diagonal cut and then she chops the potatoes while still boiling a pot of water in order to make some stock. She doesn't waste any second turning in the kitchen doing this and that.Lydia actually enjoys cooking. Even if a long 5 hours trip does really make her tired, cooking can give her all the relaxation she needs. Soon, she finally finished tonight's dinner for her and Luciano. She has spare dishes for Raylan in case he still can make it home tonight. "Dinner is ready!"Lydia calls out to Luciano who is still in the living room. Hearing her voice, he quickly pops his head into the kitchen."Smell so good! What are we having tonight?""Veggies soup and grilled chicken! Hope you like it!"Luciano's smile twisted a little bit. Not only their attitudes are the same but now also their appetite? Luciano can't tell if they are meaning so or that it's just all coincidental
