Gaius.

“If you’ll excuse me then.”

Those words and the walking away of footsteps brought me back to the present. That was when I realized how much o had messed up the date I managed to summon up the courage to get her to have with me.

But it wasn’t that I wanted to mess up. It was just that when I walked in and saw how beautiful she looked, I had gotten lost in my head, with a lot of thoughts. Even though I tried my best to make sure that I didn’t lose myself in my wild thoughts, I couldn’t help it.

I was mesmerized by her.

Even when I knew that she was speaking to me, I was so lost in how melodious her voice sounded that I didn’t know what to say in response to her words. I just wanted to continue to listen to her speak while I drowned in her voice.

I wasn’t ashamed to admit to myself, if not to anyone else, that I had been mesmerized by the woman ever since I found out that she was my mate. I had wanted to hold her in my arms since then and whisper words to her.

Gaius. I jolted back to life like someone who was being chased. By the time I would open my eyes and look around, I was a little bit confused about where I was. A movement beside me woke me up fully and I gasped as I realized that I was with Evelyn. The activity of the day ran through my mind and I heaved a sigh. The way she laid there like a sleeping beauty made me hard. I sighed and got out of bed, knowing that staying there would do no good since it would only make me keep wanting her. I noticed as I put on my dress that everywhere was silent. I peeped out through the window and saw that everywhere was already dark and the midnight patrol guards were already on duty, meaning that it was late into the night. How had I managed to sleep off for that long?I wondered briefly if anybody from the pack had wondered where I went since evening or if there had been anything that needed my urgent attention. I didn’t let the thoughts of any of that weigh into my mind. Instead, I finished d

Gaius POV. The Lunar Gala. Even the thought of it was enough to leave a bitter taste in my mind. And what was worse? It was only happening in two days. Two fucking days. Which meant only one thing, we had to do whatever it was that we were going to do very fast. Unless, of course, it meant that we were not ready to stop that man that we were after. But everyone was more than interested in stopping the man. Which was why we were at the meeting room in broad daylight, trying to see if our progress was going any further or if there was no chance of winning this particular war against the man. “How is it going?” I asked the other theee members in the room with me, looking from one person to the other. I didn’t want to give them to look away from my gaze but then that means that they had no chance. What was I saying?None of us had a chance unless we were able to progress forward. “Everything is going according to plan,” Adam answered, looking at me directly. He looked like he want

Evelyn. Clara. The woman who I had thought was my soul sister until I caught her red handed and knew that she had done nothing but lie to me all these while. It was because of her I had found myself in the situation I was in with Cyrus. As I looked at her, all the sisterly love I felt for her was no longer there. All I felt was resentment toward her. I held Gaius's hand and squeezed it hard to keep myself from launching at her and attacking her. “Long time now see, dearest sister.” She finally opened her mouth to speak. To anyone wise, they would have easily assumed that she was truly happy to finally meet her sister, except that I realized the taunting in her voice. Even her expression spoke of nothing but the mischief and cunningness of her heart. “I could say the same for you, Clara, except that I wished that I never had to see you again,” I answered with all the anger in my heart. I stole a quick glance at Gaius and noticed that he was already tense and at alert once he saw t

  • My ex-Luna came back for revenge   The announcement.

Alpha Gaius. Finally, The D-day was here. It was the day for the Lunar Gala that we had all been waiting for patiently - or maybe impatiently. It was the day that was going to determine if all we had planned for all these while would yield a positive response or we had failed to nip the buds of the daring vicious man we had been trying so hard to bring down. I made sure that I woke Evelyn up very early and we took our bath together to make sure that our scents rubbed off on each other. Once we got out of the shower, I gave her a light kiss and dressed up as fast as I could before hurrying out of the room. “Make her stand out,” I ordered the maids who were going to dress her up once I was out. They all bowed their heads in acknowledgment before they dashed into the room to prepare the woman. While I was alone, waiting and not knowing what else to do, I mindlinked my Beta and Gamma, Zack and Dan, to meet me in my office at once. Barely five minutes later, the door to the office was

  • My ex-Luna came back for revenge   The confrontation.

Evelyn. My heart was pounding very hard in my chest as I was led away from the podium by Alpha Gaius. I had spotted my father just as we were stepping on the podium so I knew he heard everything that Alpha Gaius had said. I had half expected the man to climb the podium and demanded that I leave where I was and return back to Alpha Cyrus. “Impossible!” A man’s voice that I recognized all too well growled amidst those that were cheering us up. Everywhere became silent as all eyes turned on him. He ignored each and everyone of them and just went in a bizarre search around the room with his eyes. When it finally landed on who he was searching for, he made a beeline for the person. The person in search of Alpha Cyrus, who looked like he would rather be anywhere but where he currently was. “How dare you?!” My father yelled as he moved rapidly toward the Alpha. I decided to ignore them both and just focus on the people who were now asking questions. “How lucky it is for the both of yo

Evelyn. “Now, what do you want?” I hissed at her. I just knew that she was going to say something annoying. Something that would make me feel like hitting her on the head with a sharp object. I couldn’t, for the life of me, figure out why the woman would stop at nothing until she maltreated me or something. From the corner of my eyes, I saw one of the plain clothes guards made a move to come rescue me from her but I shook my head at him. If I needed saving, it wouldn’t be from a woman like her. “Cat got your tongue?” I hissed at her again when all she did was stand there and check me out from head to toes. If she thought that she could make me uncomfortable, then I was ready to show her that that would not work. At least, not now when I needed to know what was going on with my father and my ex husband. “You look… gorgeous.” She said, shocking me, even though it looked like she was going to choke on the ‘gorgeous’ word when she said it. I looked at myself after hearing the compl

Cyrus. How dare she?! How dare he?! How dare they?! How dare any of them? What was Alpha Gaius thinking when he announced to the whole world at the Lunar Gala that my ex wife was now his mate? How could he have made such a reckless move and I didn’t notice it right on time until it was too late? And Evelyn. She had supported him. She had given him her consent to do that, hurting me by her action. I wish I could just ignore the two of them and carry on with my life, but that was not possible. A lot was at stake at the moment because of those two idiots. And I had tried to rectify that mistake by trying to pull Evelyn’s emotion and love back to me, using the deep affection I knew she had for me before, but it didn’t work out as I thought it would. I had thought that all I needed to do was ask her to be mine again and she would disengage from Alpha Gaius, but I soon understood the error of my judgment when I saw that the love no longer shone in her eyes. Instead, there was some

I just couldn’t let go of the words Alpha Cyrus had spoken to me that night at the Lunar Gala about three days ago. I couldn’t help it when it appeared as if the whole of me just wanted to remember. Since the event of the Lunar Gala, I stilled my heart and tried to pretend that nothing was out of place with me, and that no matter how anyone tried, I was never going

“Evelyn, I need you to listen to me,” Gaius said, his voice low but steady, cutting through the anger consuming me. His green eyes fixed on mine, unwavering, even as my wolf bared her teeth and snarled in warning.“I can’t,” I gasped, my voice broken, almost unrecognizable. The primal force inside me surged, raw and uncontrollable, drowning out reason. My claws flexed, slicing the air as I took an instinctive step back.“You can,” Gaius cut in, stepping closer, his movements deliberate, calm. “You’re stronger than this, Evelyn. Look at me. I’m right here.”A guttural growl erupted from my throat, and before I could stop myself, I lunged. My wolf moved with blind fury, her grief a palpable force driving her.Gaius was ready. He stepped to his sides swiftly, catching my wrists mid way. His grip was strong but not harsh, a steady counter to the wildness consuming me.“Evelyn, stop!” he barked, his Alpha tone cutting through the haze like a sharp blade. But my wolf wasn’t ready to stop. Nothing about this felt enough.I stood abruptly, the blanket falling from my shoulders. “I can’t do this,” I said, my voice shaking with barely contained rage.“Evelyn,” Gaius started, rising to meet me, his tone cautious.“No,” I cut him off, walking towards the window, the frustration in my chest itching to be let out. “Sitting here, mourning, letting them walk away with everything they’ve taken from us—it’s not enough. It’s not me.”“You’re grieving,” he said softly, moving closer.I turned to face him, my wolf stirring beneath my skin. “And I’ll grieve later. But not now. Your body needs—”“My body needs nothing,” I interrupted, my voice sharp as my gaze finally met his. “What’s the point, Gaius? Why does it even matter?”He flinched, but instead of arguing, he moved closer, his green eyes searching mine. “It matters because you matter, Evelyn. Don’t you see that? Evelyn’s povWhen I woke, the world was muted, hazy around the edges, as though I were emerging from a thick fog. The sharp ache in my body was overwhelming, radiating from my abdomen and seeping into every nerve. My lids fluttered open, and the dim light of the room filtered in, casting long shadows on the walls. The first thing I saw was Gaius, seated at my bedside. His hand clasped mine tightly, as if letting go would cause me to slip away. His face was pale, his eyes red-rimmed, his usual controlled demeanor replaced by an expression I’d rarely seen on him: anguish.“Evelyn,” he breathed, his voice breaking with relief. “Thank the moon.”I tried to speak, but my throat was dry, and my lips felt cracked. “What… what happened?” I managed to rasp, the words scratching painfully as they left me.“You were poisoned,” Gaius said, his voice low but laced with fury. His eyes darkened as he spoke the word, and his jaw tightened as though he was forcing himself to remain calm. The memory of

Evelyn's povThe scent was unmistakable. As soon as I opened my eyes, it hit me—the rich, comforting smell of the meals my mother used to make. It was a blend of herbs, spices, and something warm and hearty, familiar and safe. I could almost hear her humming in the kitchen, the sound that always seemed to follow the delicious aroma of her cooking. For a moment, I thought I had drifted back in time, back to when everything was simpler, when my biggest concern was running through the halls of the packhouse with my siblings, laughing and carefree.I rose slowly from bed, the lingering warmth of the covers against my skin making me want to sink back into them. But the smell pulled me out of my stupor, and I couldn’t resist. I slipped into my slippers and walked quietly down the hall, following the scent like a trail. When I entered the kitchen, my steps faltered. There, standing at the stove, was Clara. She was stirring something in a pot, her focus completely on the task at hand. I co

Evelyn's pov.The day felt heavy, as though the weight of everything I’d been struggling with had finally caught up to me.My steps were slow as I made my way through the corridors of the packhouse, my hand resting on my stomach. The baby inside me had grown stronger, more active, and yet I could feel the toll it was taking on my body.I’d been so caught up in the chaos of everything around me—Roman, my father, Gaius, and the constant pressure of the pack—that I hadn’t taken the time to care for myself.Today, I was going for my checkup, and I could only hope that the doctor would have some good news.Gaius walked beside me, his presence a constant source of comfort. His hand brushed against mine every now and then, a subtle reminder that no matter what was happening around us, I wasn’t alone.“How are you feeling?” he asked, his voice low and concerned.“I’m fine,” I said, though my words didn’t feel as convincing as I wanted them to. “Just tired.”“You need to rest more,” he said,

Evelyn’s P.o.vThe weight of uncertainty hung heavy over the room. Gaius, Lisa, Adam, and I sat in the study, the air thick with tension as we tried to piece together our next move. My father’s whereabouts—or what Roman believed to be his fate—loomed over every word spoken.“We need to consider the possibility that Cyrus has him,” I said, breaking the silence. My voice trembled slightly, but I forced myself to speak clearly. “If Roman isn’t lying, and if my father’s not dead, there’s no one else who would go to such lengths to keep him hidden.”Lisa nodded thoughtfully, her gaze sharp as she exchanged a glance with Adam. “It would make sense,” she said, tapping her fingers against the armrest of her chair. “Cyrus would gain leverage over you that way. And we know he doesn’t shy away from using people as pawns.”Adam leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees. “If Cyrus does have him, we need proof before we act. Otherwise, we’re walking into a trap.”“I know that,” I replied, try

Evelyn’s P.o.vThe silence between Gaius and me stretched long and thin as the car sped away from my father’s packhouse. I couldn’t shake Clara’s words, her hesitant voice playing on a loop in my mind. He’s not coming back. Roman thinks he’s dead.No matter how many times I replayed it, I couldn’t accept it. My father—dead? No. It wasn’t possible. He was too strong, too clever to be taken down so easily. But the doubt wormed its way into my thoughts, gnawing at my resolve.Gaius’s steady grip on the wheel was the only anchor keeping me tethered to the moment. I could feel his glances, the weight of his concern, but I didn’t have the energy to meet his gaze. Instead, I stared out the window at the passing trees, their green blur doing little to distract me from the storm in my chest.“Evelyn,” Gaius said softly, his voice cutting through the hum of the engine.“I don’t want to talk about it,” I said flatly, not looking at him.“You’re not fooling anyone,” he replied, his tone gentle bu

My wolf moved uneasy beneath my skin, her unease mirroring my own as Roman stood before me, his expression a mixture of defiance and barely concealed fear. My voice was steady, but inside, my anger simmered, threatening to boil over. “You’re hiding something, Roman. Just tell me the truth.” “I’m not hiding anything!” he snapped, though his gaze darted to Gaius, who stood at my side, silent and imposing. Gaius didn’t speak, but his presence alone was enough to make Roman flinch. I narrowed my eyes, my wolf growling low in my chest. “Do you think I’m stupid? Do you think I don’t see through you? I know you know something. Stop wasting my time.” Roman’s lips pressed into a thin line, and he took a st
