As soon as Emelda disappeared into the building through the glass door, my hand shot to my jacket pocket, my fingers grasping the cool metal of my phone.

I quickly dialed the number for the HR head at the architectural firm, my voice steady and authoritative.

“Good morning, Mr James on the line.” His voice transmitted across the phone.

"This is Jonathan Rodriguez," I said, without preamble.

“Sir!.. Goo..good morning” The HR head answered in surprise and reverence as he stammered.

"There's a lady in for the interview, she should be in the waiting room by now. I need you to make sure she is offered the job position today. There are no ifs or buts about it. She will have the job."

“Ye…yes sir, of course sir,” The HR head replied, his voice revealing that he was taken aback, but had quickly recovered as his tone turned deferential.
