Mayor Mount was looking at Reyes once in a while as he opened through the file he brought for him. Reyes seemed to have known he was displeased as he kept avoiding his eyes.
Mayor Mount started opening the rest of the pages faster than before. The files made noise as he was doing that.
"What the hell is this?" he threw the file right into Reyes face. It hit him on the nose and the file scattered all over the floor.
"I'm sorry sir" Reyes bent down quickly and was picking the scattered files, arranging them back together.
"I said I want a file on them. Not a list of silhouettes' pictures with giant question mark" he retorted breathing heavily.
He had been looking at the files for some time and there was no single picture of someone. The names mentioned were even nicknames not real ones. This didn't look like a file from an intelligence office. An intern shouldn't do something to worse like this.
He had requested a file on a group he just discov
Raymond removed his hat and scratched his head wildly. It had been hitching him for a while and he had been resisting to scratch it. But he couldn't hold it any longer. He checked the hat out again. It was very big. If not for what they had planned. Nothing would have made him chose this kind of hat as an outfit."He's coming" Grace whispered quickly. Raymond looked at his side. A waiter was coming with the food they ordered."Put on your hat" Grace whispered again. That was obviously what he wanted him to do earlier which he didn't concur."No. You still don't understand what we are doing. I can take it off. All we wanted is to......" Raymond held the hat in his hands. He wasn't going to put it on."I understand everything very well" Grace cut in. "Just put the damn hat on" she implored. She shook her head often. She was angry Raymond was not complying with her."The hat looks good on you. You should put it on" the waiter put their food on
Raymond and Grace were on queue at the airport. Raymond clutched her to his body weirdly. Almost everyone who passed by were looking at them.Grace was uncomfortable. She groaned everytime. Raymond didn't care about her groans."You know I don't see how putting me in pain is a part of this plan. Can you just release me for a second?" she complained after she must have discovered Raymond wouldn't leave her no matter how she groaned."Actually, your questions only make me think you don't understand what we are doing here" Raymond said without releasing his grip. He smiled at people who stared at them."If you can just smile at them the way I am doing. I think you will reduce the levels at which they stare us down by eighty per cent" he suggested she copied him. He did not also like the way they were getting attention but that was the main theme of everything they had been doing."You want me to smile while suffering. I'm in pain. You understand that,
The plane took off. There were some uneasiness as the plane banked before finally balancing in the air. The passengers heaved sighs of relief as they became settled in their various seats."We should be saying our last prayers. And this is unnecessary" he removed his seatbelts and attempted to do the same with Grace. Grace blocked his hand."Why, last prayers. What are you thinking?" Grace looked at him. She looked disappointed. Raymond was confused."You are the one talking about a soldier with a grenade launcher on his shoulder" he winced angrily."And you said something about being optimistic" she retorted quickly. She was just being very confusing."Then what do you suggest we do now?" he asked. He had surrendered to her. He wouldn't be arguing over that with her."We are on a plane. We are going to land for sure" she repeated his previous words. Raymond gasped. That was all he would listen to. He didn't want anymore of it."Could
"I can't get off this thing!" Raymond struggled with his parachute. He couldn't get out of it."Somebody get me of this thing or get this thing off me right now" he yelled. He heard someone laughhhhhing at him. It was definitely Grace. He couldn't see her but it seemed she was out of her own parachute. He wondered how she quickly figured it out.A hand assisted in getting the chute off his head. He looked up as the chute had completely fallen off his body."Mayor!" he was very surprised. It was Mayor Mount that had been helping him with the chute."I got that" he said awkwardly. "Thanks" he murmured. He moved closer to Grace. Grace was still amused and full of smiles probably from his struggles with the parachute."How did you get that damn thing off easily?" he whispered to her."Just ran a few steps after landing" she shook her head. That was even harder than getting off it. It was almost impossible to run with that bi
"To be honest with you, I love the way this thing pinged in my ear. It is soothing and great" Grace voice said on Raymond comms. He put a hand on it to press it further into his ear."I thought I was the only one enjoying it" Raymond smiled. He also loved it too. These were high end devices obviously very expensive."Enjoy while it last Grace. I am afraid we won't be using it for long" he said regretfully."You know I don't know if I should be happy or be the opposite for what is happening right now. It was unbelievable. All the preparation and resources, we nailed our target on our first day. The funniest thing is that, I am only upset I will be missing this underground apartment" she hissed."We can talk with Mayor Mount to let us stay for some little time in it, you know like have our vacation there" Raymond said to console her.Raymond was on site at the house of one Mr. Dallas. Their computers had just discovered a heavy log of weapons stored
"Am I in the right place?" Grace put a finger in her ear over the comm device in her ear. She was expecting to get a reply from Raymond. There was no response. It seemed Raymond had removed his device from his ear. She waited for a couple of seconds more but there was no response yet."Oh yeah! The best time for you to disconnect is the time I was wandering on a roof not knowing which way to go" she complained. She was standing on a roof at the address where their excellent computer had given them. Streets were really hard to differentiate standing on a roof."I didn't disconnect you. I was lying down on the bed. I had a piece of cheese in my mouth" Raymond said in a not so serious way.Grace heaved a sigh of relief. She had thought she was going to abort."What are you doing on the bed. You should be watching my back seated at the front of those computers" Grace scolded him. There was no way he would guide her if he couldn't see the
Mayor Mount walked around the room. He checked all the computers one after the other. It seemed there was nothing he was looking for in particular."Good morning, sir" Raymond came out to him from the room. He had been watching him before. He had come to visit them at their base. He came so early. Raymond was just waking up. Grace was still in bed.Maybe she was weak or feeling bad about how she couldn't catch Mr. Dallas last night."Good morning, sir" Mayor Mount replied politely. That was strange. He didn't use to greet Raymond this way. He might have elevated his position in his mind."I know you will be wondering why you see me very early. I was just intrigued by your early development. You have nearly had this devil twice under twenty four hours. Though he got away,I must applaud you" Mayor Mount turned around to face Raymond. He stood at ease joining both his hands behind his waist.Mayor Mount coming all the way here just to commend t
Grace rushed to the computer. It just pinged, a sound it always made when it picked up something strange or unfamiliar. Something that needed to be checked.Grace threw away the plate in her hand. The fries on it flew around the room."Poor fries!" Raymond moaned with a sad face. Grace seemed to have grown more interest in this, than before."No. You are caught" she hit the keyboard hard and stood up from the computer. It seemed she was preparing to go out."What happened?" Raymond blocked her way. At least, she should tell him something. Agreed he wouldn't be allowed to go with her."I'm sorry, Raymond. I need to be fast. This is urgent" she pointed at the monitor. She was breathing heavily."You know it is funny the way you handle this like you are the only one involved. Accepted,I won't be going out until I can take people out with a breath. I don't know if that is possible though which means I am forever grounded. You can still make me h
"You should feel better now" Raymond put the cup back on the table smiling."You mean the wine is good?" Grace asked, she was pretending she didn't know what he was talking about."No. Not the wine. I am talking about the daughter of the city" he had opened up straight, she wouldn't have a chance of turning his words around anymore."She's good, but her judgement is somehow different from mine" she complained a bit."Two different people can't do the same thing same way. There will always be a slight difference" he explained."I have nothing against her but I'm just thinking operating like this. The Mayour won't be able to back her" she was right about that."She doesn't want it too. And this evil people give more respect to harsh treatment like such" he added."I'm sure we are not here to talk about the daughter of the city" she was becoming boring with their conversation. She stared at her cup weirdly. They had come out to a
The computers pinged as Grace had said. Laura had been waiting for some time to hear that. She couldn't believe it at first. The pinging was not that loud but it was noticeable. She dashed over to the ammunition side and picked up the sword. She started feeling weird. She felt like she couldn't do this anymore. She stood there in front of the weapon. She wanted to take more than just a sword. But it would be useless to take what she wouldn't use. The computer pinged again. Time was going. She wanted to go but she was very much in need of a little push.Maybe she could just make a call to Grace. She would be helpful. They had become something like best friends. She hurried to get her and make the call. Time was no longer on her side. The call took like eternity to get connected, maybe that was because she was calling from an underground."Laura?" Grace said excitedly. There was nothing funny about this. It was damn serious but she had
Protocols were now being duly observed. Raymond and his accompanies were not allowed in until Reyes came out to them.He waved at them to come over."I'm sorry for the delay. Everything has changed since the attempt on the Mayor's life" he apologized as they walked over to him. They all walked together into the living room to meet Mayor Mount where he was comfortably seated."Raymond, Grace" he smiled to welcome them."And you, your face looks familiar" he pointed at Laura.Raymond was a little bit afraid. He wished Mayor Mount had not remembered when she tried to kill him."We met at their base" Laura said slowly."Yeah, I remember. You are that little girl that was in their base. You know I forgot what you were doing there that day" Mayor Mount seemed to have really forgotten. He was visibly trying to recollect."Actually, we are here because of her" Grace broke in suddenly. She was going straight to the point.
Raymond was coming down the stairs. He saw as Grace kept changing the TV channels. She seemed not to find the one suitable for her present mood.He skimmed down to join. He sat by her side without saying anything. She obviously had a lot running through her mind but she was obviously not going to tell him anything except he incited words from her."Maybe TV isn't what you need right now" he grabbed the remote, took it from and gently placed it on the table."What do you think I need then?" she folded her arms. it seemed she was not pleased with that."A good company like me,that has always been working even when you are stuck on the Millionaire Island" he joked.Grace smiled subtly. She was not enjoying the moment as she wanted."What are you thinking about?" he asked."That's my problem. I don't just know where to channel my mind" she shook her head."You really need that before you could channel the TV" he chuckled. She
Raymond was seated by the side of the hospital bed with a newspaper in his hand He wasn't really reading it. He kept checking Grace If she had woken up from her deep sleep. She would wake soon. She had been slept for a long time. She opened her eyes slowly and closed them back immediately like the lights were hurting her eyes."Raymond" she whispered. "Are you there, is that you?" she asked with her eyes closed."Why don't you open your eyes and confirm?" he replied her casually."I'm just confused seeing that in your hand. A publication? Really?" she had not opened her eyes yet and she was already taunting him."Are you okay?" he leaned towards her and asked."I feel better" she moaned. She opened her eyes and sat up."No, no. You have to rest" he quickly retorted. He felt she should be down there on her back.Grace was just looking at him with surprise. She didn't yield to his yearning."I guess I am still alive" she l
"Are you okay?" Raymond asked Grace. lied down on the floor. He gasped. He was exhausted."I have never been better" she said despite all the obvious pain she was going through. She also laid on her back breathing slowly to relax. Hugh sat and rested his back against the wall. He was devastated. It was definitely his first time to kill a man.He was seriously having a conversation within himself. He was raising his hand up above his every now and then.Probably regretting what he had done or he was trying to encourage himself that he had to do it."They say that is how you feel after you have your first kill" Grace chuckled and pointed to Hugh."He will surely get over it" Raymond said assuringly. He was sure of that. Hugh was a person with some facets of a bad guy. It shouldn't be so hard for him."Which makes me remember, Ray. You never had a moment like this. You never felt bad after your first kill. You are not very human" Grace r
Jansen had already heard a series of gunshots inside the building. Not long later, another shots were fired. He wondered what was happening. These guests didn't look like people who could shoot except the city hunter and his guy. And these guns were actually the guns brought by him and his men.He could denote that easily from the sounds of the rounds. He wondered why Dray or Morton or both of them would have been shooting like that unless the situation called for it.He was in awe what the situation could be. He was also having negative thoughts maybe his mem had been overpowered and subdued. He had to do something rather than waiting for them here.He brought out his handgun and headed towards the room. He waited by the first room and listened attentively. It was very quiet. He moved over to the door of another room.He was still trying to catch a sound with his ears when he saw bullets casing right ahead. He walked slowly aiming his gun forward.
Raymond and Grace had gathered all the others in Susan's room. The guests were definitely expecting to see this device they claimed to have found."I don't think we need to show them the real thing" Raymond whispered to Grace. He had already seen the hungry looks on their faces. The hunger to see what the device looked like."Let's just show it to them, to boost their confidence and make them trust us" Grace assumed. She must be thinking the guests might get annoyed if they weren't allowed to see it."They will be on to us soon, if we spent more time here without giving them a feedback" Hugh complained. It seemed he was urging others to hurry them up in handing over the device. He had been staring hard at Raymond and Grace as they had been having mouth to ear conversation. That seemed to have stirred up his anger."I thought you brought us on the fact that you have found this thing?" Mrs Summers said in her old weak voice. She must ha
Raymond and Grace walked along the hallway after everyone had entered into different rooms.Raymond attempted opening a door at room but Grace stopped him immediately. He was stunned."Things like this are not kept inside rooms. Vaults are built to house them" she explained."These people are not looking for treasures and not gold bars. It is something, like a part of nuclear weapon as one of them told me" Raymond argued."No one keeps nuclear weapons in a room also. They are hidden underground in most cases" she was still determined she was right about her opinion."Underground like basement?" Raymond felt she was making sense with what she said."Yeah" she moaned."Then let's get to the basement then" he asserted and walked forward with fast paces and Grace following him. He stopped suddenly."We won't get there unless we are outside" he said in regret."They won't let us go out. And we have to get this thing before th
