Evelyn’s POV

The moment I stepped out of the car, I barely had time to blink before I saw it his car, speeding straight towards me like a nightmare crashing into reality.

I froze. For a split second, I thought he would stop. That he would see me.

He didn’t.

The impact hit me like a thunderclap, and the next thing I knew, I was slammed onto the cold, unforgiving ground. Pain exploded in my head as it cracked against the pavement. My vision blurred, the world spinning into darkness.

I couldn’t move. Couldn’t even lift my hand.

Was this it? Was this how he showed how much he hated me?

Did Louis really despise me so much that he chose to run me over like I was nothing?

Before my mind could even catch up, I heard hurried footsteps approaching, felt hands on me panicked, desperate.

"Get away from her!"

Samuel's voice tore through the chaos.

I blinked through the haze just in time to see him shove Louis away like he was protecting me from a monster.

Just a numb weight settling in my chest, like a heavy stone pressing down on me.My wrists still ached from the ropes that had bound them hours ago. Anything. But not this. Not something I would spend the rest of my life regretting.“I can’t do this!” I shouted, the words ripping from my throat before I could stop them. In a wild burst of anger, I tore the paper in half, the sound splitting the tense air like a thunderclap.“We’ll make this work!” I said, trying begging to find some spark of hope, a desperate smile pulling at my lips. But she wasn’t smiling. She looked like she wanted to claw my eyes out. Hatred practically rolled off her in waves. Her hands flew over her phone screen, her jaw tight.
