IV - Keep Her Safe

MINE! The word was repeated in my head countless times as I watched the human sitting there in front of us.

My wolf struggled within me with the need for me to exclaim that she was mine. But I couldn’t do it yet, Kai was right to say we couldn’t scare her.

Abby’s just a human who doesn’t know our world or his rules, she had no idea what it meant to be a mate, let alone an Alpha or a Beta, like me and my brother.

"I really need to go, the rain is not a problem for me." she murmured looking around, probably searching for a window.

"I won’t let you go out in this rain!" I declare before I can control myself, attracting her confused look.

I just wanted to protect her, keep safely that beautiful and helpless woman, she was mine and I had the need to keep her safe.

If I could, she would be in my bed, being claimed, calling my name as I buried myself inside her and planted my seed deep in her belly.

"What my brother meant is that we can’t let you leave with this storm, the roads get too dangerous with the rain." Kai said taking the reins so I wouldn’t ruin it by scaring her. "The best thing is for you to stay and wait until the rain passes, in this mean time you and Denny can know each other better."

"Play!" our little brother shouted, throwing his arms up already wanting to get off the chair. "My room!"

"Denny, why don’t you show her your room and and tell her what you like to play with?"

Kai went around the counter and grabbed the little one from the high chair, and was just putting it down for Denny to run and grab Abby’s hand, starting to pull her from there.

She turned, already at the door, giving us a small smile that made me lock my teeth growling, while my brother squeezed the counter tightly controlling his impulses.

"I am so sorry..."

"Do you want to fuck it up? You know what would happen if she got scared and quit working here? How would we get her back? How would we keep her under the same roof as her if Abby didn’t want to be here anymore?"

"I know, I know. I’m sorry..." but he shut me up right away, grabbing my collar and pulling me up face to face.

"You don’t seem to know the physical pain that would cause us to stay away from our mate!" is what he growled before releasing me. "We have to take it easy."

I took a deep breath and lined up my shirt, tidying it in place. I knew he was right, but it was virtually impossible to control the wolf by crying out, demanding her surrender.

I was never controlled like my brother, Kai always managed to look unaffected, perhaps because he was the Alpha.

"You feel it too, don’t you? That tug at the bottom of your chest, the wolf growling to tame her?"

"Yes! Of course I do! But I also smell her virginity!"

I sighed knowing he was right again, I could smell her virginity.

"Knowing that she’s never been touched and that she’s been waiting for a real man all these years, just makes me even crazier to grab her and take her to my room..."

"You as always are impulsive!" he growled scolding me. "I want this as much as you do, but we need to earn her trust first, win her over, before we show her what we really are."

"So we’d better put this plan into practice, start today, because I don’t know how long I’ll last without being able to touch her, kiss her and rub my scent all over her body, marking territory!"

He scratched his head, throwing his hair back and showing how much it also bothered him. We needed to use all our strength to fight against nature and not claim her at once.

"Kai!" the kitchen door was opened in a burst and Koda rushed in completely wet.

"Don’t tell me that crazy bitch did something while you’re taking her off the reservation?"

That was my brother’s mistake, bringing these one-night-stands to our home. In that regard he should do as I do, follow my example and fuck them anywhere else away from here.

"No Alpha, it’s about the vampires!"

With these words my whole body became alert and he had all our attention.

"What have these living dead bastards done now?" Kai growled showing all the anger in the facial expression.

"They attacked near our perimeter, last night Moses' bar was destroyed and two of our boys were died."

My blood boiled in my veins and I growled feeling my fangs wanting out, as did my claws. But my brother wasn’t so controlled when it came to vampires in our territory, attacking our people. Kai was already clawed out as were his fangs, grunting like a wolf ready to attack.

"What boys?" He shouted so loud that I was afraid Abby would listen, but luckily the thunder sounded right away, camouflaged the powerful sound of his voice "I need to know everything to plan our counterattack!"

"Jason and Brandon..."

"Damn, the boys only had one transformation, they were still learning to control!" I told them, I knew who the boys were.

"These bastards will pay!" Kai slammed both hands on the counter causing a crack in the granite. "Koda, gather our best men, I want everyone at headquarters in an hour."

"What are you planning to do, brother?"

"Tonight we go hunting, finish off some undead!"

Koda left in the same instant in the middle of the storm to deliver the message from the Alpha.

Everyone would be with the same bloodlust, the bar could be off the reservation, but it was still ours, our boys, new wolves from our pack.

This was a reason for more than just retaliation, they deserved to be destroyed years ago, they were only increasing our hatred.

But at that moment I had another concern, one with long brown hair, big bright eyes, a sweet smile and a body that messed with my imagination.

"What are we gonna do with a mate in the middle of this war, Kai?" I knew just like they killed our mother, they could get to Abby if we weren’t around.

"Let’s worry about tonight, about keeping her safe in this house, with Denny! Now more than ever she can’t leave these walls."

"Who can’t leave these walls?" Abby’s voice sounded behind us catching us by surprise. "Is everything okay here?"

She was standing there in front of us, barefoot, her hair disheveled and her skin flushed, probably from the games with Denny. And that just made me wonder what it would be like when she was red underneath me.

"Of course, we are saying that you will need to start work immediately. We’ll need to go out on business and we’re not sure when we’ll be back." Luckily Kai was quick to come up with a lie for her.

"But I thought you were staying here tonight, because of the rain and the dangerous roads."

Abby looked at each other, like she wanted a better explanation. But I couldn't just say hey, we’re gonna hunt down some vampire motherfuckers. So I said the first thing that came to my mind.

"Kai will, it’s something he can solve himself, quickly and simply." The two of them stared at me and I could see all the questions forming in my brother’s head. "I will stay!"
