Chapter 75: Morning Reflections

Waking up in my own bed, I felt a sense of peace I hadn’t known for days. I was still wearing the clothes Ryder had loaned me the day before and they smelled like him. It only made me miss him more, but it felt like he was with me still in some small way.

My sheets were all tangled from where I’d collapsed into them late last night, exhausted but feeling a warm sense of contentment following my conversation with Tyler. It had definitely gone better than I could have hoped and I was feeling good and positive about our relationship again.

It was just after 10 AM when I finally stirred, the gray light streaming through the gaps in my curtains that indicated another miserable day, but I couldn't hear any rain at least.

I sat up, stretching my stiff limbs, grateful not to have the weight of the cast to burden me anymore, as I reached for my phone which blinked with new messages. One from Tyler and one from Ryder.
