His expression softened when he saw that my intention was not to explicitly hurt his brother, but he still seemed mildly upset.

"You know that's a terrible idea, right?" he pressed, seemingly still on the defensive.

"Maybe... I don't want to get into it now though," I said, which was code for, 'I don't want to talk to you about it'.

He sighed and wiped his hand over his face with frustration, but he didn't push me for any further details.

"You'd better let your aunt know that you're staying," he suggested, probably understanding that I might be waiting for quite a while.

"Good idea. Do you know where I left my phone?" I asked, looking around and feeling where I usually had pockets to tuck it away.

"Fuck... I think you said you left it in the car. I'll go get it for you," Ryder offered, already heading towards the door.

The moment he left I collapsed back on the couch, groaning with self-loathing as I covered my eyes, trying to block out the rest of the world.

I kept replaying the mome

At the top of the staircase was a dining area of sorts, which backed onto an open-plan kitchen. My fingers clutched Ryder's desperately as my anxiety levels peaked the further we wandered into what felt like an out-of-bounds area. We walked through a large archway into a cozy room that appeared to be some kind of hybrid between an office and a lounge. There was a large wooden desk and chairs for work, but then there were two well-worn brown leather couches facing a stone fireplace that seemed more for leisure. Ryder's dad sat at the desk while his mom hovered over him, pointing at something on the laptop screen as she squinted. Their focus shifted to us as soon as we stepped into the room. "Ah! Katelyn! How's your arm?" David asked, his voice brimming with concern as Liz straightened up. "I... It's much better, thanks," I hesitated, feeling my stomach twisting in knots. "Don't you two look adorable in your matching outfits," Liz said with a bright smile as her gaze darted betwee

I snuggled into him, glad he seemed to be a little less upset now. After a moment's silence, I piped up, "What exactly happens at a Lunar Eclipse Celebration?" I asked. "You didn't have those in Colorado?" he probed, seemingly surprised. "Well, we did, but I hadn't shifted yet when I attended the last one, and I'm just wondering whether there's anything I should be prepared for," I replied. "And maybe it's different here anyway..." "There's eating, drinking, socializing. Then everyone waits for the eclipse, some people shift, some don't, your preference really. Some like to run through the forest, some don't... Kind of a free for all, really. Of course, my dad will give some kind of speech..." he trailed off. "Sounds pretty standard," I replied with a shrug, recalling similar events from back home. He nodded, looking dejected. Then his eyes drifted up and settled on me as a serious look grew on his face before he added, "And sex. That's obviously also part of the celebration. Mat

  • My Twin Alpha Valentines   Chapter 73: The Right Thing

We spent the rest of the afternoon casually making out and watching some comedy show on the TV. I somehow even managed to forget about my little slip-up, and things between us seemed good. Better than good actually.Maybe he felt better after airing his grievances during our little argument earlier, maybe it was the fact that I had professed my love for him, or maybe he was just happy he'd have company in his misery at the upcoming Lunar Eclipse Celebration. Whatever it was, he seemed to be more relaxed and calm now and I was grateful for it.The evening wore on, and we ate some snacks in the kitchen while I waited for Tyler to get home, but by 9PM my energy levels were at an all-time low. Ryder noticed my fading energy, "You sure you want to wait up for Tyler? It could be pretty late."I nodded, stubbornly clinging to the idea. "I really need to talk to him," I mumbled, leaning against the kitchen counter, barely keeping my eyes open.He frowned, looking concerned. "You wanna sleep

  • My Twin Alpha Valentines   Chapter 74: Solace (Tyler's POV)

(Tyler's POV) The clock on my dashboard blazed in bright orange, 1:13 AM as I pulled into the driveway, the quiet hum of the engine cutting through the silence of the night. My muscles ached from the relentless physical training, the kind that drains every ounce of your energy but somehow leaves your mind racing. The house stood like a dark sentinel between the pine trees underneath the ever watchful moon. With a painful groan, I climbed out of my car and made my way to the front door, my steps light as I tried my best not to wake the entire household. The door creaked softly as I slipped inside and the familiar scent of home wrapped around me. My steps were light on the hard floor as I headed down the hallway to my bedroom. With annoyance, I noted that the door to my room was slightly open. Ryder, I thought with a sigh, my irritation flaring. I'd have to talk to him about this again. I hated it when he went into my room when I wasn't home. If he wasn't borrowing my shirts, he was u

  • My Twin Alpha Valentines   Chapter 75: Morning Reflections

Waking up in my own bed, I felt a sense of peace I hadn’t known for days. I was still wearing the clothes Ryder had loaned me the day before and they smelled like him. It only made me miss him more, but it felt like he was with me still in some small way. My sheets were all tangled from where I’d collapsed into them late last night, exhausted but feeling a warm sense of contentment following my conversation with Tyler. It had definitely gone better than I could have hoped and I was feeling good and positive about our relationship again. It was just after 10 AM when I finally stirred, the gray light streaming through the gaps in my curtains that indicated another miserable day, but I couldn't hear any rain at least. I sat up, stretching my stiff limbs, grateful not to have the weight of the cast to burden me anymore, as I reached for my phone which blinked with new messages. One from Tyler and one from Ryder. Tyler: I'm glad I got to see you last night, you made my shitty day infi

I was busy blowdrying my hair when I saw the little blue light blinking on my phone to indicate that I had a new message. Picking my phone up with my left hand, I continued to dry my hair with my right.Tyler's name came up and a surge of excitement coursed through me. He was going to pick me up for our long awaited date in 30 minutes and I sure as fuck wasn't going to be caught in a towel this time around. I opened the message eagerly.Tyler:I'm still in a fucking meeting with the Silverpine Pack. Probably going to be late ☹️ Can't even ask Ryder to pick you up because he's recording. You might have to wait for me, is that okay?I felt disappointment weigh me down for a moment, but then I figured it actually wasn't that bad. It's not like he was canceling, he was just going to be late. He had responsibilities and I knew that when I signed up for this.Turning off the hairdryer I headed to my bedroom door and poked my head out. "Aunt Mara, are you busy?" I asked sweetly. She was sitt

I rang the doorbell and stood under the awning as I waved Aunt Mara off, waiting for someone to let me into the Valentine house. I rang it again, but still no one came. Eventually, I pulled out my phone and called Ryder."Sorry, I know you're recording, but I'm at your front door. Please could you let me in?" I asked, hurriedly, not wanting to disturb him but having no other choice."Coming..." he grumbled before dropping the call.Fuck... I'd obviously interrupted him in the middle of something important. Maybe I should have just waited for Tyler to pick me up, I thought to myself with a frown.I heard the sound of footsteps approaching through the closed door. "Fuck, Kate! You seriously couldn't have picked a worse time," Ryder was muttering on the other side of the door as he unlocked it."I'm sorry!" I called out as the door clicked open. I could see he was annoyed as he swung the door open for me, but then he looked up and saw me. "Holy fuck..."His eyes raked over me and I fel

“You ready to go then?” Tyler’s voice pulled me back to the present, his smile bright under the lights in the kitchen. I nodded, smiling in return, eager to get this date started. It felt like we'd been waiting an eternity for this day and now that it was finally here, I didn't care where we were going or what we were doing. I just wanted to spend time with him. We headed out into the evening as Tyler led me to his car. The air was crisp, but I was grateful that the rain had let up for the moment. Tyler opened the passenger door for me, but as I reached my foot up to climb in, it became apparent that my dress was not going to afford me the mobility to see the action through. "Need a hand?" he offered with a chuckle, seeing my struggle. "I think so," I conceded, my cheeks flushing a little. Without a moment's hesitation, he scooped me up and deposited me into the seat with a beaming smile as I giggled at the sudden sensation of weightlessness. “So, what’s the plan?” I asked as

  • My Twin Alpha Valentines   Epilogue (about a year later...)

I adjusted my grip on the tiny, squirming bundle in my arms and smiled as a chorus of laughter echoed through the Valentine house."Could you hold her for a sec?" I asked Ryder, shifting Ava into a more comfortable position. "I forgot my phone downstairs.""Absolutely," he replied, his face lighting up as he took her from me.I had to admit, Ryder had surprised me. I’d always known Tyler would step up to fatherhood like it was his destiny, but Ryder… I thought he might need a little more coaxing along the way.To my relief, and, I'll be honest, surprise, that hadn’t been the case at all.Ryder had embraced fatherhood like a natural. Late-night feeds? He was right there with me. Diapers? No problem. Making sure I ate? He was relentless. And the way he loved our daughter, with every fiber of his being... God, it melted my heart daily.Tyler, on the other hand, was exactly the dad I’d known he’d be. He was steady, dependable, and endlessly patient. Where Ryder brought the energy and fun,

(Katelyn's POV)I nodded slowly, processing it all as I tried to picture it in my mind's eye."Oh! And get this!" Ryder piped up with an excited grin. "Michael, the guy you wrapped around the pillar? He's Simon's cousin!""What?! How do you know that?" I asked, confused.Tyler replied this time, "Well, when we were leaving, we bumped into Simon in one of those long, winding corridors. He started going off at us asking where we were going and if we had permission to leave, blah blah blah... But Helen shut him down. She told him that the decision had been made and instead of giving us a hard time he should probably go and check on his cousin because the last time she saw him, he didn't look so good.""You should have seen his face," Ryder smirked, chuckling to himself. "He just stood there for a moment, still blocking our path, but then I think something clicked in his head. He probably saw that we were all covered in blood and shit and realized that something was wrong and he practicall

  • My Twin Alpha Valentines   Chapter 398: Sanctuary (Katelyn's POV)

(Katelyn's POV)The first thing I registered was the sound of hushed voices and the faint smell of lavender. My eyelids felt like they’d been superglued shut, but after what felt like an Olympic-level effort, I finally managed to pry them open.My vision swam, the room around me looking like a watercolor painting that someone had left out in the rain.Where was I? WHO was I? It felt like I had been asleep for a hundred years.I blinked repeatedly, willing my vision to focus, but when it finally did, nothing seemed familiar. It was dark, from what I could tell, and the only light was coming from a lamp somewhere on the other side of the room.I shifted onto my elbow, trying to sit up, but I instantly regretted it. Pain throbbed in my skull, my head spinning like I’d spent hours on some rotating carnival ride. A groan escaped me, and the low murmurs nearby stopped immediately.“Kate?” A voice cut through the haze... Familiar, warm, desperate. My gaze darted toward the sound, and there t

(Katelyn's POV)She was furious, but not with me. I could feel her... like a storm raging inside me, raw and untamed. I waited in the quiet shelter of my own mind, nothing more than an observer as I watched her wrath unfold. It was like witnessing a hurricane from the safety of a bunker, awe and terror warring inside me."We... We didn't know!" the iron-haired woman’s voice quivered, her arms raised defensively, as if they could shield her from the Goddess's divine fury."You didn't know?! You didn't know that you were exploiting them? Or you didn't know that I would care?" the Moon Goddes spoke through my lips, her words flowing like liquid thunder."I... We..." the woman stammered, her eyes darting around desperately, searching for someone, ANYONE, to come to her rescue. But no one did. No one dared to move. They were all frozen like statues in the face of the storm."You will—" the words spilled from my mouth, but I somehow managed to cut them off abruptly when I heard Tyler's angu

(Tyler's POV)"I don't know what to do," Kate whispered, her voice filled with helplessness as she looked up at me while I struggled against the attendants who held me in place."Let him go," she ordered, authority resonating through her voice in a way I'd never heard before. When they hesitated, she glanced toward the man she'd just sent flying through the air like a puppet as some kind of silent warning of her power. That seemed like enough for them to release me.The second I was free, I fell down beside her, desperate to stop the blood that was pouring from Ryder's neck. It was coming out so fast it was clear that they must have gotten an artery, the blood pulsating out of the wound in steady throbs."What do we do?" she whispered, looking to me for answers I didn't have.I reached out, holding my hand over hers in some futile attempt to stop the bleeding, but it was like trying to hold back a flood with a fucking paper towel. His neck was a mangled wreck. (Katelyn's POV)Tyler’s hand trembled as he held it in place over mine, trying desperately to stop the blood that continued to pulse out, albeit at a much slower pace now.His voice was a whisper and it wavered with desperation. "You’re going to be okay, Ryder. You hear me? Just hang on. Just—" he broke off, choking back a sob as his other hand found its way to Ryder’s blood-matted fur as he rubbed him affectionately. He looked at me, his face pale and his eyes swimming with tears that he tried uselessly to blink away.“Kate...” His voice cracked, barely audible above the rapid, shallow breaths of his brother. “The bleeding... it’s too much. He’s not healing fast enough.”His words struck me like a dagger to the chest. I'd thought it, but hearing him say it out loud made it real.“What are you saying?!” I cried, my voice raw and broken as I gripped Ryder’s limp paw, shaking it in hopes of some kind of reaction. My vision blurred as I let the tears spill down my cheeks. “Is he going to

(Katelyn's POV)Through a blur of tears, I found myself face to face with the broad-shouldered Elder, Michael."You're an abomination!" he snarled, his hands gripping my arms with a ferocity that promised bruises. "You're a curse! A witch! A temptress! Do you know how my family has suffered because of you?!" he spat as he shook me violently, his eyes filled with absolute rage."But... I..." I stammered, trying to form words into sentences, but my brain couldn't do it.All I could do was stare at him, still reeling from the fact that one second I had been kneeling beside Ryder, trying to help him, and the next, I was being violently shaken by a man who seemed to have gone full psycho."Katelyn?!" Tyler called out, realizing I was no longer at his side.Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him struggling against about three or four attendants who tried to hold him back.Suddenly, pain shot through my cheek and the world around me fell into a darkness that seemed to ebb and flow like the t

(Katelyn's POV)For a moment, the entire room froze and my ears rang with the word exterminated."We're leaving," Tyler said, his voice low as he snatched me by the wrist and tugged me toward the door. The attendants remained though, none of them making any move to unblock our path. Instead, they all looked toward the iron-haired woman as if waiting for her to give them some instruction."Move," Tyler demanded sharply as Ryder appeared on my other side."We aren't finished here," the iron-haired woman called out as three more attendants appeared to block our exit."She wants to leave," Ryder replied, his voice filled with venom as he turned to address her."We aren't finished," she repeated, her voice cold and sharp as steel."I thought you said this was a hearing," I shot back, glaring at her. "Was there some line in the invitation about being held against my will? Because if there was, I must’ve missed that part," I spat, trying to hide my growing fear with sarcasm. The room fell si

(Katelyn's POV)The iron-haired woman watched me, her grip on her notes tightening once more. Her restraint was evident as she took a deep breath before finally replying. “You have already been told, Miss Grey, that this meeting is for us to ascertain—”I cut her off, my own patience now unraveling fast. “God, you can’t even give me a straight answer! What are the potential outcomes here?!” I demanded. "Even criminals on trial know what potential penalties they'll be facing! Why can't I be afforded the same courtesy?! Are you going to impose some kind of limitations on me and my abilities? Or do you plan to lock me in a prison cell? Or maybe a tower in the middle of nowhere? Are you going to kill me? Seriously, what options are on the table here?!" I pressed, annoyed by how fucking evasive she was being. It felt like they had already made up their minds here. While a few of them did seem to be on my side, it's clear that many of them were not. And those who sat on the fence would likel
