Jake's POV
Jake Green looks at his ex-fiance. She has become much more mature, and looking at Amanda, he can see that she has grown in character, and she seems much more than a woman than Amanda, who still acts and looks like a teenager. Amanda goes for facials and manicures, and pedicures the whole time. She even had some plastic surgery done on her face to stay young. It does not fit a woman her age. The clothing that she wears is also much too young for her age. That is why nobody is taking her seriously as an attorney. She also tries to use a look to influence the jury and judges in court, which is not helping our firm's reputation. She keeps flirting with our male clients, and it pisses me off. I cannot believe that Belinda has a child.
I am furious when Amanda calls Belinda's child a bastard. Chase Stone calls Belinda "Honey," and I am unhappy. And look at the little boy, and I look at Chase. I can see that it is his child, who has the same eyes and looks just like Chase. How long have they been having an affair? Because it seems like it must have been while I was still engaged to Belinda. Belinda starts choking on her coffee, and I wonder if it is because she is so angry or because of what Chase had to say. Then Belinda smiles up at Chase.
"It is okay, darling. I do not let people from my past upset me. Amanda, and Jake, please excuse us. We are having dinner with a friend. We do not have time to talk to you right now. Oh, I am sending somebody else over tomorrow so they can fetch Chase's files from you. You must understand that since we are together, I will handle all his business from now on. I hope you do not mind. It's just one client you are losing," Belinda says, but her eyes stay cold as she looks at Amanda and me.
"Chase darling, you can't seriously change lawyer firms. You have been with us for so long, and we are the best firm in town. I do not believe you are in a relationship with my sister for one moment. Everybody knows you like your woman looking a little younger. I am sure there is a little misunderstanding here, and the little brat cannot be your child. Besides, how old is he? Is it possible that he is the child of Jake, my husband? They were together at that time," Amanda says. I roll my eyes as I can't believe what she is saying. I have not slept with Belinda after meeting Amanda. Still, I think Amanda only married me because I was engaged to Belinda. It is like Amanda wants everything that Belinda has. I know she will divorce me without a blink of an eye if Chase Stone is interested in her.
"For your information, Mrs Green. Belinda is not old. She is mature, and she acts her age. Unlike some people standing before me, they still belong in high school. I do not know why you add so much plastic surgery to look so young because a woman that grows older gracefully is much more beautiful than a wannabe teenager for life. For your information, I am not interested in schoolgirl wannabes. You also act like a bloody schoolgirl. If I were you, Jake Green, I would keep my wife in check. She cannot hold a candle to Belinda. She never matured, and she never will. She will always have this high school mentality. Mr. and Mrs. Green, if you will, please excuse us. We are busy. And yes, I am taking away all my business from you," Chase Stone says.
"I will also be taking away my business from you. I must say, Belinda looks much more professional than the both of you together. If Chase is taking away his business from your firm, so am I," Nick Bradley says.
"Mr. Bradley, your father will never allow that to happen. You have been with us from the beginning. I will go and talk to your father tomorrow," Amanda says, glaring at Belinda. I wish I could slap her to keep her now shut.
"You are also wrong about that, Mrs. Green. You see, my father was a client of Miss Morris's mother. He only stayed at the practice because he thought Miss Morris would take over the practice one day. You have cost us a lot of money in lawsuits that you lost. We're a big business, and we know we can afford the money, but some people are intentionally targeting us because they think they can get money out of us as we are a big business. I think they can get away with a lot of money from us and never have to work again, but you are losing the cases these opportunists are making against us, and I am sure Mr. Stone feels the same," Nick says. They are a big brand in America. Some people visit their restaurants to see if they can get money from them by creating accidents. It happens all the time in America; unfortunately, it is how people think they can earn money. We have lost some of their cases, but not all of them.
"We will no longer bother you and talk business later. Come, Amanda, let's go. We cannot bother these people any longer. Besides, we have an appointment with your father this afternoon," I say, grabbing Amanda by her arm, and we march out of the restaurant.
"Don't touch me, Jake. Why are you allowing Belinda to take all our clients away from us? We have to fight for our clients, or our company is declining. We have already lost enough to her since she returned to town. At first, I did not believe Morris and partners were her firm. Now that I have seen her with my own eyes, I am starting to believe it. I do not know what we will tell Father because he will be furious with both of us for losing clients to her. I bet it is her partners that are so good and not her. I cannot believe that she can be a better lawyer than us. Well, I will show her the divorce case coming up. I have seen that Mr. Gray's wife is with Morris and Partners. I will ensure that Mr. Gray gets everything and Mrs. Gray gets nothing. He wants full custody of the children, properties, and money. He does not want to give her a dime, and I am sure we can win the case. It is not like Mrs. Gray has worked for anything. She just stayed at home. She contributed nothing to their wealth, and how will she look after the children if she has no money?" Amanda laughs.
"I hope you have done your homework this time and are not just going in on his word. Have you researched their history? Are you sure that Mrs. Gray did not contribute anything to the wealth of the Gray family?" I ask. I know Amanda is very lazy to do her job and does not even go into the family's history before making any decisions or arguments in court. It costs us a lot, and she is not one of the best attorneys in town. I know Mr. Gray only uses her because he hopes to sleep with her. It will not be her first time sleeping with one of our clients, and I don't care. I should have never married her, but I was stupid young and in love. I thought Belinda was dull, but now Belinda is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Amanda still looks like the day I met her, and it is getting boring. Amanda also does not want to have children. I want children of my own one day, and I hope that I can have children. Perhaps, if I divorce Amanda, I can find a partner that wants children. I cannot believe Belinda has a son with Chase Stone. I know he cannot be mine because I have not slept with Belinda for a few months after meeting Amanda.
"Stop treating me like a child. I know what I'm doing. I know exactly what is happening in the Gray family. I have listened to the nannies and everybody. I know what is happening in that household. Mrs. Gray has never worked in her life. She goes shopping for her and the children and uses all Mr. Gray's money. They also say that the nannies must look after the children as she is never home," Amanda says, and I roll my eyes. She is going on gossip. I hope she realizes that Mr. Gray is probably behind the staff lying on his behalf. I'm not saying a word because the court case is tomorrow, and I do not feel good about it. I have a feeling that we will lose that case.
"Maybe you should ask to postpone the case till a later date so that we can do more research. How sure are you that all this gossip in his house is true? Have you checked into their past? I know court cases like this can take forever, but if we do not have a case based on facts, we will lose," I say.
"The case has been going on for 11 months, and Mrs. Gray doesn't stand a chance. She may have switched lawyers, but I do not believe the judge will side with her. She did not bring any proof that she was a good mother or had put any money into the marriage. Besides, I'm calling some of the staff in the household as witnesses. I know what I'm doing, and stop treating me like a child. Leave my cases alone and concentrate instead on yours. I know how to handle this case," Amanda says. I am not sure she knows what she's doing, but I will not intervene. Let her do whatever she wants to. If we lose the case, so be it. We still get money from Mister Gray. He still has to pay us even if we lose the case. We drive to Henry Jones' house. As we get there, Christine Jones opens the door. She is Henry's second wife and the mother of Amanda. I know they had an affair even before Belinda's mother died. But it's none of my business, and I won't interfere in their lives.
"Your father is furious. He's waiting for us all in the sitting room. He wants to know why he did not know that Belinda was back in town and that she opened Morris and partners again. He also knows that she stole many of our clients," Christine Jones says. We walk into the sitting room, and Henry Johns looks unhappy.
"Why didn't I know about Morris and partners? I hear Belinda is an outstanding lawyer. I hear she is one of the best in America. I did some digging and saw that she has worked with some of the biggest firms in America. Everyone has just good things to say about her. Why didn't we know it was her? You two dumbasses should have known. I was so here that you lost a big case for Chase Stone and that he is taking his business to Morris and Partners. Do you realize he is one of our biggest clients?" Henry Jones shouts at us.
"He thinks he has a child with Belinda, so he's leaving us, Father. It has nothing to do with us. We didn't lose all these cases. We won a lot," Amanda says.
"Bullshit! Belinda does not have a child. I would have known if she had one. You lost more of Chase Stone's cases than you won, so he is leaving us! Chase Stone will also not allow a woman like Belinda to catch him with a child," Henry says.
"We saw the child with our own eyes, and he looks like Chase," I say.
"The child does not look like him. It looks more like you. I wonder if Belinda's child is not yours," Amanda says.
"You are jealous that Belinda has the son of a billionaire. At the same time, you are stuck with me. You always wanted what Belinda had. I'm sorry, but you don't have half of what she has. She's beautiful. She's intelligent and does not act like a spoiled teenage brat. Henry, we made a big mistake. I should have married Belinda, and we would not have been in this mess that we are in now because your other daughter, Amanda, does not care about her job. And she only cares about flirting and trying to. Get into affairs with our wealthy clients," I say. I'm furious.
"Amanda is more talented than Belinda will ever be. Amanda is also much more beautiful than Belinda, so stop talking nonsense. I will not let you insult my daughter like that. You are married to her, and you will stand by your wife. Belinda is just a little bit inconvenienced to us at this moment. We will get rid of her again. I will have to come out of retirement and come and help you at the office if we want to beat her in every case! We will show New York, who is the better firm," Henry says. I can only shake my head because I know we're in for a hell of a fight that we cannot win.
Belinda's POV I see the two men standing there as if they have no purpose in life. I do not know what they want because I no longer need them. I don't even know why they interfered in my life. I look at Chase and Nick Bradley with a question in my eyes. "Can I help you two gentlemen with something else? Mr. Bradley, you can call my office to schedule an appointment. Mr. Stone has my office number. Now, if you will excuse me, I am having a date with my son," I say, my voice is not very warm. My voice is as cold as a winter breeze. "Mommy, why does this man look so much like me? Is he my daddy?" Connor asks. I love my son. However, at this moment, I can put a sock in his mouth to make him stay quiet. I wish he has remained silent because I can see the questions in Chase's eyes. "Honey, sometimes strangers look like each other. You do not have a father. I am the only parent that you have," I say. "Mommy, we have the same eyes. You told me that there are not many people with eyes l
Chase's POV"I know what I said when we spent the night together. However, I didn't know that there would be a child. I want to get to know my son," I say. I look at Connor, who he is playing with the other kids. For the first time in my life, I feel proud. He is tall for his age. I want to know him. I want to be a part of his life."If he wants to get to know you, I will not stop him. It is all up to Conner. You can also not make false promises to him. You cannot walk away again if you want to be part of his life. What will happen if you get married, and your wife wants nothing to do with him?" Belinda asks. "I am not planning on getting married soon. Like you, I enjoyed my life as a single person. I'm not seeing anybody anyway," I say. "It doesn't mean you will not want to get married sooner or later," Belinda says."It will take a remarkable woman to make me want to give up my freedom. Same gloves for you. What if you get married, and your husband wants nothing to do without Conn
Chase's POV For the first time, I eat with my son. I ensure that he gets everything he wants. Belinda's eyes are soft as she looks at him. I can see the love for our son in her eyes. I a slightly envious of my son. I must admit that I do admire Belinda. She is the kind of woman that will make a man's heart beat faster. I can see the other men in the restaurant keep looking at her. I know they will not do anything because I think I am with her. I do not understand why it irritates me so much that men are looking at the woman that is the mother of my child. As I said, I must be alone and think about my feelings for her. As we are sitting there, I see my parents walk into the restaurant. I don't need this right now. My mother's eyes are like a bloody hawk's. She has already seen us and is looking at me, confused. I am sitting with a little mini-me on my lap. I see her showing elbowing my father and pointing to us. My father looks at me, and he frowns. I know it is evident that Connor i
Chase's POV Belinda and Connor get ready to leave. I get up to go as well, but my parents stop me. My mom looks at me with eyes that tell me I am in deep trouble. I sigh because I know they will have and talk with me. I am not in the mood to speak with my parents right now. All I want to do is be alone to think about what I am feeling for Belinda. However, I know I will not be able to escape this. The sooner I get it over with, the better for myself. "You are not going anywhere. Chase, we need to talk. You are a disgrace. How could you not know that you had a child? With how many women did you sleep? Ah, and you never thought you could have a child," My mother says. "We use protection, mother. I always use protection. You know I'm not stupid. How was I supposed to know that the protection did not work? Belinda never contacted me or told me I had a child. I was just as surprised as you were when I saw him this morning. Do you know how it feels to look into the eyes of a totally str
Belinda's POVConnor looks at me as we drive home and wants to ask me something. I know what he wants to ask me, and I do not know what I will answer him. My son is very clever for his age, as I said before. He knows too much, and I do not know how to prevent him from asking questions I do not want to answer. There are so many questions, and I do not know how to answer them if he asks me questions I do not want to answer. "Is Mr. Stone my father? Mommy, he looks a lot like me, and I know you do not want to talk about him. I want to know if it is my father," Connor asks me. "Yes, he is. It happened a long time ago, baby. And I do not want to talk about how it happened. Mommy made a mistake, but you are not a mistake, and you must never think you are. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. I love you with everything inside of me. And that is all you need to know," I say."I know you love me, Mommy. I am glad that I'm going to have grandparents on the father. Can I go to scho
Belinda's POVIt is Saturday morning, and I am making breakfast for my son and me. I am making his favorite pancakes with syrup and strawberries. I also made him a glass of freshly pressed orange juice. I get myself a toast and some coffee. I do not normally eat breakfast. I usually grab a fruit or something before I go to the office. Connor comes walking down as he smells the pancakes."My favorite! Mommy always knows what I like. You know, I will never trade you for anyone else, Mommy. I will not love my daddy more than you," He says as if he realizes I may feel insecure now that he has a father and knows about it. My son is way too clever for his age. He is way too mature, and I know it is my fault because he always thought he was the man in the house and would have to look after his mommy for a long time. I also allow him to be on the Internet too much and watch too much TV. He may be too clever for his age, but he is still my baby. I want to protect him against getting hurt, and
Chase's POVMy team worked hard, and I kept Belinda and Connor busy while eating at the restaurant, so my team could move in. We helped the old couple move into the new home I bought them. Plus, I gave them money for this house as they did not want to sell. But when they saw the place I gave them, they were pleased. When you are a billionaire, you can get anything done in an hour or two if you want to. It does not matter how many people it takes to get you what you want. My team knows if I want something done, I want it done as soon as possible. There are also no excuses for failure. Now I am in my new house. I moved in last night. I just brought my clothes.I'm looking around my house and open the back door to look outside. That's when I see the most beautiful ass I've ever seen, pointing in my direction. I quickly realized my mistake and promptly returned to the house and closed the door. I do not want Belinda or Connor to know I am staying here. That was a close one. I will have to
Sarah's POV I will find out where Chase is. I know his parents never liked me, and I never liked that witch of a mother of his. If that woman thinks she will keep me away from Chase, she is making a big mistake. Chase always loved me, and he will never forget me. I am the love of his life. I know this. I did not tell that woman I got divorced because my husband left me for an older woman. He said I was too childish and did not want to give him any children. I have to look after my body. Why didn't he understand that? I don't care. It was not that I loved him. When he asked me for a divorce, I was slightly relieved until I found out why he wanted to leave me. I was humiliated that he wanted to leave me for an older woman. And to crown everything off, she was pregnant with his child. I packed my bags and came back to America. I knew Ethan was seen as an eligible bachelor. But I did not realize that he had become so rich. I only heard recently that he is a billionaire. I always thought
Belinda's POVToday is the day of my children's wedding. I cannot believe my son and daughter are getting married on the same day. I am very proud of them, as they chose perfect partners that fit them. I could not be more proud of my children. My life has gone a full circle. I got my sweet revenge on the people that killed my mother. I gained his sister and a lovely husband. I have two wonderful children and could not ask for anything more. Well, maybe a grandchild or two. Chase will be walking in both brides since Norma does not want anything to do with her family. I cannot blame her. Besides, Norma has become like a second daughter to my husband and me. I cannot believe that time has gone by so fast. It felt like yesterday when Chase was discovered to Connor and me. I am glad that he did, though. I am pleased that he is my husband. He makes me very happy.Although we are older now, he is still a handsome man. Many younger women still look at him. He makes me proud. Our love for each
Baron's POVI am going to ask Bella to marry me. I wait until she is at her classes, then see her family. I am waiting until all of them are together. I want all of them to know that I like to marry Bella. And I'm going to ask all of them for their permission. I also like to tell Connor to be my best man. I know Bella would want Norma to be her maid of honor. I requested a meeting with all of them. Everybody is there when I get to Chase's office, even Norma. I have asked her also to be there. I do not want anybody to feel left out.I'm glad I did it because I can see that Norma also appreciates me taking her to a family meeting. But I was very nervous when I walked in. I know this is their only daughter, and I will have to promise him that I will never cheat on her and that I will look after her like she is my only princess. And I know she is. She's the woman I want to love for the rest of my life. I can never think about my life without her. I cannot believe I am the same man who tho
Baron's POVAfter we left the boardroom, I instructed my guards to remove my family. I don't want to see them again. I don't have any feelings towards them. We went to my office, and Bella took out the picnic basket. I do not know how she knew that I would need this today. However, I don't care about my family anymore. It was so hard for me. She's an angel in disguise. As the officer close behind me, I walk over to her, and I kiss her like I've never kissed her before. All the passion I feel for her is in my kiss. I thought you would push me away, but she kissed me back instead. Does it mean she feels the same way about me as I feel about her? I hope so because I have created all these feelings about her. I know that I love her. I can't believe that I fell in love with Bella Stone. I never believed in love, but now I do, all because of this little woman in my arms. "I love you, Bella. I mean it this time. I'm not saying it to impress anybody, but I'm telling you the truth. I do love
Baron's POVI knew I would hear from my family again. It did not take my sister-in-law long to find my office. I thought my brother, mother, or father would be the first to show up. But no, the first one to walk into my office is Sharon. She never had a good taste in clothes. I always thought that she was a little bit cheap. I don't know what she is doing in my office, but I do not want her here. I know Sharon is up to no good."Hello, stranger. It has been a long time since we have seen you. I do not know why you were hiding from us. Were you afraid that you still had feelings for me? I should have never married that useless brother of yours. He has heard me so often that I cannot even talk about it. My heart is broken. Your brother does not care about me. He only cares about the whore he sleeps with every night while I am all alone at home. My heart can't stand it anymore. I am heartbroken. Baron, I should have never left you. I know that you would never have been like him. Besides,
Rita Peterson's POVI look at my husband, Mike. I did not think that our child would get anywhere without us. He also seems like he cannot believe what he just heard. We have to keep up our appearances in front of our friends. So Norma made it big, and she did not even tell us. She would not have come anywhere if it weren't for me and her father. If I didn't push her to go to beauty contests and become a beauty queen, she would not have gone into fashion. She owes us, she owes us big time. I never thought that she was the owner of Myst. I felt she was only a waitress, so I never wanted to see her again. She threw away the career I was planning for her to become a waitress. I will go and see her tomorrow at her office. I know where the boutique is. I never went there because I could not afford their dresses. The least we can do is dress her mother. We pretended to be friendly all night and saw her and Connor Stone leaving before our party. After the party was over, my husband and I wen
Norma's POVI love Connor. I cannot believe I am so happy to have found him when I needed him the most. Good night. We are going to go out to a fancy restaurant. I have got my confidence back. I do not even care if we run into my parents. If that's something to say, I don't care. I am in love, and I am successful. It is more I can say about them. My mother is still the socialite, and my father has to work his ass off to stay with her expensive lifestyle. Since I am their only child, they don't have an heir. I don't care what is happening to them. I don't want the money. I want nothing of them. Connor is not happy about the fact that his sister is seeing Baron Maxwell. I told him to leave her alone because it was her choice. Perhaps his family should meet him. I have decided to wear a beautiful white dress tonight. I know that Connor loves me more in white. He loves it when I wear a white dress. And tonight we are going to go to the Hilton. It is a plain reason it doesn't look like a
Baron's POVWalking into the restaurant, I saw my family sitting at the table. I did not expect them to be there because I did not expect them to be at the expensive restaurant while they were in so much financial trouble. They have not seen me yet. We walked in and were taken to the table I had reserved. "Her parents and brother are here with his wife. Are you sure you want to eat here tonight, or should we go elsewhere? I know how you feel about your mother and, father and brother. I wouldn't say I like it to be an uncomfortable night for you. I understand how they treated you, and I do not believe they deserve to see you anymore. Besides, I feel they will come and look for trouble with you. I wait a second. I have a plan. I'm always wearing my great-grandmother's ring on my finger. I will put it on my engagement finger, so if they come and look for trouble with you, we will pretend that we are engaged. I know it is not ideal, but at least it will give them something else to think
Bella's POVSo Baron wants a fancy date. I can wear fancy dresses if I have to. I have a few in my closet. I do not know why I like to impress him so much. I am not even supposed to worry about what he thinks. I cannot allow myself to fall in love with a man who does not believe in love. In a way, I get into a beautiful blue dress. It fits my body perfectly. It also has a long slit on the one leg. I wonder where he is going to take me. Why couldn't he wait until our regular Friday night dates? Is he missing me as much as I miss him? What do I do? I know I look beautiful in a plain dress. I only put on silver accessories because I love silver more than gold. I am dressed to impress but not too much. I like to keep it plain and simple. I am not the one for shiny dresses. I am not like other girls. My dress is classy and slightly revealing, but not too much. I am not here to impress a man. I am here to show myself that I can withstand a man who thinks all women want him for his money. I
Baron's POVAm I in love? To be honest, I do not know. I only know that I miss Bella when I'm not with her. Her family doesn't like me very much because we are always competitive. A father and her brother are not in the same business as me, but they still want to buy prime properties. I do not think that I am welcome in their house. I guess I will be more popular now, building around the diner. It took my architecture and engineers a while to figure out how. I've come up with a solution, and I won't even ask what they are doing, as that is not my problem. I am a trained architect and engineer with plenty of time to study with my parents. Just keep me away from America as long as they can. So, I continued studying while running my new business in Europe. However, I am not into that part of the business anymore. In the beginning, I loved it. But now I want more time for myself. I like the business side of it, and I like to see how my family and their business are crumbling. I know I ca
