VANCE
“Tch,” I scoffed in irritation.
“Master…” Brandon warned and I tried to hide my annoyance.
I was only here at the behest of a council who had sent me an invite with a signature. I don’t even know why they would choose me to have such power but at the same time, why wouldn’t they?
I ran an independent pack, prosperous and wealthy and free from all of their nosey tricks and I knew that the rest of the world wanted to know what was happening behind my walls and the bigger news was that they had to be curious because I happened to have a large pack that was at the center of the werewolf world.
Everyone wanted a piece of Sky Scales pack and Brandon suggested that this might be an opportunity for me to get more allies and I hated it but I also thought it was a good idea but not for the same reasons.
Since nobody knew what I truly looked like, they didn’t offer me the same grace with all the big names and Brandon was pissed that I decided to go behind his back and put our invitation under fake names and small packs.
The only people who gave me attention were the ladies, they couldn’t get enough of me or my charm and frankly I couldn’t care less. I wasn’t here for the signature or allies. I worked years for this opportunity to put a face to the name.
Trevor Cross — A name that caused anger to coarse through my veins in dangerous speed.
My teeth bared in anger when he was finally announced and people bowed but not me, I could never bow to a monster. He walked past people, his hands casually shaking all the Alphas while I hid my rage. I didn’t know when it got to my turn and his hands extended to give me a handshake.
I stared at the open hand and the wide smile on his face and my eyes flashed all the horrors those hands have had the privilege of causing.
Luckily for him, his attention was stolen and his shake was withdrawn.
The crowd gasped and I allowed my simmering anger die down when my eyes looked up and caught the most ethereal being.
My heart beat twice as fast, my body hummed in excitement as I watched people flock towards the staircase where she was descending from.
She felt familiar, her face was turned away from me so I couldn’t see her “Who is that?” I questioned Brandon and he gave an annoyed sigh before looking at me with a growing disapproval.
“Mrs cross, a Co-Alpha of the White tiger pack…his wife,” he said and normally anybody associated with my arch nemesis would automatically become my enemy but something about the way she moved… the way she gracefully descended the stairs, the way my body hummed in excitement and the familiarity made me extremely curious.
I moved from Brandon’s company and I could faintly hear him groan in annoyance but I didn’t pay any mind.
I was like a fly attracted to light but even that was not enough to describe what I felt.
It wasn’t until Brandon pulled me back with the hem of my shirt that I realized that I had gotten too close. I turned back to growl in annoyance, Brandon shrunk instantly but then his own eyes flicked and a warm sensation enveloped me, as though I was freezing cold but now I had a light source.
I turned in time to see her face light up, her green eyes glowed with warmth and her cherry hair stood out. Her figure was sleek, her dress flowed like water, smooth and graceful. Her neck was adorned the gems the same color of her eyes but none of these caught my attention.
I would know that face even in my sleep. The kissable lips, her wrists that I had wrapped in my palms as I dragged her through that tunnel where we got trapped, that young desire that I had masked under rage.
My legs moved towards her without thinking but I stopped the moment she linked arms with that treacherous monster. Anger sizzled as I watched her walk with him, a fake smile on her face.
Weren’t they the rumored power couple?
Brandon was saying something but I could sense that something else was happening here.
I walked away from Brandon mid-sentence and followed them, my curiousity spiked when Trevor linked arms with a larger man and left her.
Well that wasn’t very husband-ly.
I watched fear cross her eyes almost instantly after her first glass of champagne and then watched as she began to lose herself in more glasses.
“Sire, what do you think about leaving?” Brandon suddenly said out of the blue snapping me back to reality.
“What?” I questioned in confusion and Brandon looked at me like I was insane.
“We came to gather allies instead women have been the only ones to flock towards you all night. Not one general or Alpha has come towards us and you don’t seem bothered,” he whined and I ignored him.
My wolf kept pushing me to go to her, it was only when I noticed that people were giving her judgmental disdainful looks that I knew that I had to step in and just like before , I left Brandon in mid-sentence.
“I think, that’s enough Camille,” I said her name too fluently for someone who nearly had her killed. I watched as horror flashed through her eyes, I was a master at keeping my emotions in check but I couldn’t hide it when my wolf synced with hers, I couldn’t hide the intense wave of desire that moved past us when I caught her mid-fall and when I heard her call me her mate, it started to make sense why I was drawn to her back then and now.
Before I could say anything, she sped and ran off. Brandon came soon after, his sigh more audible than last time.
“You managed to scare off our only contact this night,” he whined and my palms fisted.
“Tonight is not our night, sire,” Brandon sighed regrettably and my heart constricted.
It was too risky and plus it was impossible.
She was married! And drunk.
“You’re right, Brandon,” I whispered and turned towards him.
“Sire?” He asked and there and then I made up my mind.
It was Best not to open old wounds. I cast my gaze towards Trevor and noticed that he too was moving up the same steps that Camille just ran to.
My Anger doubled the more I looked at him. How had she married this monster?
I shook my head refusing to dwell on something that I didn’t understand even though my wolf was raging.
He wanted us to get her but I knew she wasn’t mine to get. No matter what she had drunkingly said.
She was married and to my nemesis.
I turned away and went to the car, Brandon sat in front and we started to drive away until someone came out of nowhere.
There was a screech and the next thing I knew, I was running out of the car towards the road.
“Camille!?” I screamed in horror.
CAMILEI gasped in fright before anger surfaced within me.“You’re everywhere,” I spoke too calmly for someone who’s world was coming undone. I walked towards where I kept a secret stack of alcohol and took a swing from the bottle.Vanessa chuckled darkly “And I’ve not even started with you,” she mocked but I ignored her.“Trevor isn’t going to choose you, I hope you know that?” She threatened but I was too tired to try to debunk any of her threats. I have no idea if it was my lack of engagement that spiked her but the next thing I knew she was grabbing me by my shoulders and yanking me towards her… her advantage been that she was slightly taller than me.The alcohol in my stomach turning fiercely, my head spinning as she raised her hand and smacked me across the face .“In a few minutes, Trevor is going to believe divorce papers. Sign it! And leave him!” She screamed at me and juat like before, my eyes saw red.I have been humiliated, betrayed, shocked, disappointed and now disrespe
CAMILEMy hands tied the last knot in his tie and smothered the wrinkles out of his sleeve then with a satisfied sigh, I stepped back and admired my work.Trevor’s smile was boyish as his eyes lit up, he twirled like a little boy in front of the mirror before facing me and grabbing my neck passionately kissing me.My hands encircled his arm in return as I molded against his chest, my breath hot when he finally released me.“I love you,” he whispered and our heads touched each other. A smile crossed my lips as I repeated the same words to him.“Too bad, we can’t finish what I started,” he whined and I couldn’t help but give a short laugh.“Well, let’s thank the goddess that we have all the time tonight,” I promised and his grin stretched a bit.“You mean after my induction as the new Master to the Skylar region or after our anniversary dinner?” He inquired and it was my turn to grin.I arranged my hair in front of the floor to ceiling mirror, my ceremonious attire glinting under the mo
CAMILEI think the question I should have asked was — who the hell gave her the authorization to come into my chambers?Vanessa stood up from my bed and my eyes turned to slits when I noticed that she was wearing my coat.“Oh, relax,” she said too casually and I walked closer to her but she didn’t falter. Didn’t this brat say she was sick?“You didn’t answer my question, Vanessa,” I questioned and she rolled her eyes. Anger simmered and I knew it was only a matter of time before I became worse than I already was. “You have three seconds to speak or else, physicians would be speaking for you after I’m done with you,” I threatened and she gave a shrug.— why this stupid brat…I moved quickly ready to teach her the manners her father didn’t, my hands raised and for the first time I saw fear flash before her eyes before something else took over.“I don’t think Trevor would like that,” she suddenly said and I froze. What the hell did that mean? And since when did she refer to him with hi
CAMILEI stepped back, afraid of what I was seeing. My eyes flicked between the devil child and my own husband and without a second thought, I turned sharply and left the room.I don’t know how long I stayed still, the wind blowing at my hair and my tears merging with the wind as it left my face but the moment he came to the balcony I smelled him.“Camile,” his voice was smooth and small but I’d rather turn to stone than turn to look at him. He knew me so well, he didn’t wait for me to turn towards him. He walked towards me and stood in front of me where he knew I couldn’t turn away. The sun had gone down, a once glorious promising day had turned to a nightmare.“I’m sorry,” he spoke softly and my teeth bared in anger. He was sorry?“I promise, it’s not what you think,” he said. The same age old pick up line men said after doing something irreparably foolish.I shifted back, my body rejecting his attempt to caress my face.Goddess forbid!“Camile…”“Don’t. You dare!” I spat in rage.
