CAMILE
I think the question I should have asked was — who the hell gave her the authorization to come into my chambers?
Vanessa stood up from my bed and my eyes turned to slits when I noticed that she was wearing my coat.
“Oh, relax,” she said too casually and I walked closer to her but she didn’t falter. Didn’t this brat say she was sick?
“You didn’t answer my question, Vanessa,” I questioned and she rolled her eyes.
Anger simmered and I knew it was only a matter of time before I became worse than I already was.
“You have three seconds to speak or else, physicians would be speaking for you after I’m done with you,” I threatened and she gave a shrug.
— why this stupid brat…
I moved quickly ready to teach her the manners her father didn’t, my hands raised and for the first time I saw fear flash before her eyes before something else took over.
“I don’t think Trevor would like that,” she suddenly said and I froze.
What the hell did that mean? And since when did she refer to him with his first name!?
“I mean, what do you think he would say if he knew you assaulted his pup’s mother?” She grinned and I don’t know how long it took me to understand the sentence but I gave a harsh laugh.
“Pup’s mother? It seems like whatever illness you contracted affected you mentally as well,” I said calmly even though my heart thundered.
She gave a sly smile and rubbed her stomach, an action I could never boast of.
“Really?” She asked and I could feel my patience run thin.
“If that’s really true then maybe you should do the maths, at least you should be smart for that,” she said and I bared my teeth. This was Trevor’s fault.
He brought this little devil child into our council and since her arrival it has been cut throat, something about her made me angry beyond a doubt but somehow my anger fueled her desire for defiance.
“Let me give you some hints,” she said and started to circle me slowly like a predator.
“You didn’t go with Trevor to that one Solstice bon fire. I did” she started and I tried to keep my cool.
She went to the solstice with Trevor because I had fallen ill, Trevor had begged me to come with him but I just couldn’t find myself going, not when I felt like crap and I couldn’t stop him from going but to be fair, all of my PA’s went with him along with his own detail, so this was irrelevant and time consuming.
“And then Trevor didn’t come home the day after,” she said and my blood pressure spiked, headache formed around my eyes and my vision blurred a bit.
“He was taking care of business,” I seethed and she gave a cruel laugh.
“My business,” she said and my eyes turned to slits.
“How many days have I been sick?” She asked and I threw my head back and gave a very exhausted sigh. I didn’t have the energy for frivolous games.
“Look here child—“ I started to say
“Calculate it. I’ll wait,” she interrupted and despite wanting to kick her out of my room, my brain started to do some calculations.
Yes, it was true that Trevor didn’t come home as planned but I didn’t notice her absence either because she was not my priority, Infact I didn’t even like her to begin with, so to think I would care if she went missing or not was far beyond my reach.
But then…
My heart’s pounding started to echo in my ears as my brain finished the math, I sharply turned towards her and she decidedly stopped at that moment in front of me, her body bodying my coat like it was hers as she raised her stomach a little for me to see.
My legs immediately shifted back.
“Did you even ask him what happened at the bon fire?” She questioned and I tried to breathe.
Why was her stomach bulged?
My hands pointed shakingly towards her stomach, my breath caught “ W–Why is your stomach—“
She smirked and I locked eyes with her.
“Trevor is my mate and this is his pup. The one thing your old ass couldn’t give him,” she finished and my world tore down.
I started to shake my head as she laughed “I just couldn’t wait for Trevor to tell you. He doesn’t have the stomach for it,”
My eyes watered at her confession.
My Trevor would never sleep with a child. We were each other’s first and the most powerful iconic couples in all of the west area.
Trevor would never do this to me. Not while we had such an important thing coming up.
“I suggest, you start packing.Your barren days are over, you old hag,” she insulted and my eyes saw red. I didn’t know when a murdeous growl escaped my lips and I charged towards her.
I tried to stop myself but years of continuous backlash, continuous ignorance, cruel rumors and nicknames and now this betrayal that seemed like a mean joke finally got to me.
I raised my hands, ready to face her father if need be at the expense of satisfying my rage.
She didn’t flinch as I inched closer and i don’t know how I didn’t notice him until a hand wrapped around my raised hand halting my movement immediately.
“Don’t. You dare.” Trevor’s voice matched my anger and all the rage inside me died when I took my look at him and realized that this wasn’t a cruel joke.
It was reality.
The man who always made me believe that I was the bane of his existence was nowhere to be found.
I watched in horror as he flung my arm and stood protectively in front of Vanessa.
He had betrayed me and in the worst way possible.
