Selena

The door creaked open, and my heart almost stopped.

I fumbled with my phone, ending the call so fast my fingers barely kept up with my thoughts. In a panic, I threw it to the far end of the bed, hoping praying he hadn’t heard anything.

Stephen stepped inside, slow and deliberate, like a predator sizing up its prey. His eyes locked on mine, unreadable but intense enough to send a wave of panic through me.

Had he overheard my call? Was he here to punish me like before?

I sat frozen on the bed, my back pressed against the headboard, legs trembling beneath the blanket. The silence between us stretched thin and tight.

“Who were you talking to, Selena?” His voice was low but laced with sharp possessiveness.

Something inside me snapped, maybe from the fear or maybe because I was just tired of being scared. “Don’t I have the right to make a call?” I said, my voice shaky but defiant.

His brows lifted in surprise as if he couldn’t believe I’d dared to talk back. Honestly, neither could I.

Then came that devilish smirk.

No. Not that smirk again. It was always the beginning of something twisted.

I held my breath, wishing I could take the words back. Wishing I hadn’t challenged him. He didn’t say a word at first just stared with that glint in his eyes, a storm brewing behind them.

“Follow me,” he said coldly.

“I don’t want to,” I replied, softer this time, almost a whisper.

A loud crash startled me. The desk beside the bed shattered beneath his foot, splinters flying everywhere. I flinched, heart pounding so loud I could barely hear myself think.

“I’ll come,” I gasped, jumping up from the bed. My legs nearly buckled.

His hand grabbed my wrist, tight and unrelenting. Pain flared instantly.

“You dare not go against me ever again,” he hissed through gritted teeth.

***********

The ride was silent.

Darkness cloaked the night as he drove, his jaw clenched, one hand gripping the steering wheel like it owed him something. I stared out the window, my reflection blending with the blur of streetlights.

“Where are we going?” I asked, finally breaking the silence.

He didn’t answer.

A pit formed in my stomach. Was this the end? Had I pushed too far?

When the car pulled up in front of a club, my blood ran cold.

No. No, no, no. “Please, I don’t want to go in there,” I whispered, already shaking my head. “Let me go home. Please.”

He turned his head slowly and gave me a cold, mocking smile. “You’ll find out why we’re here.”

Then, without another word, he stepped out and came around to my side. Before I could resist, he yanked the door open and dragged me out of the car.

The music inside the club was deafening. Lights flashed. The smell of alcohol and sweat was thick in the air. People moved aside as Stephen entered, bowing in respect. Some even looked away, fearful.

Then a guy walked over, eyes flicking to me.

“Damn, another one? Your woman’s already waiting upstairs.”

Stephen didn’t speak. He didn’t have to.

He shoved the guy so hard he slammed into the wall. The crowd gasped and scattered. Chaos erupted as Stephen’s voice thundered, a low, dangerous growl that didn’t even sound human.

“Don’t you ever call her a bitch.”

My heart nearly stopped. I’d seen him angry before but never like this.

He grabbed my hand again and stormed up the stairs, pulling me toward a private room like I was nothing more than a doll in his grip.

And then I saw her.

Julia.

She was perched on the edge of a white velvet sofa, wearing a red dress that clung to every curve. She stood slowly, a sultry smile stretching across her face.

“Ooh, babe,” she purred. “I heard your roar downstairs. Who dared make you angry?”

Her voice dripped with honey, and she walked toward Stephen like she owned him, her fingers sliding over his chest like it was her territory.

I didn’t know what came over me—but watching her touch him like that made my stomach turn. Something bitter bloomed in my chest. Jealousy? Disgust?

When she glanced my way and gave me a smirk so sharp it could cut glass, I instinctively pulled my hand from Stephen’s grasp.

I didn’t want any part of this. Not this madness. Not them.

Julia shoved Stephen onto the sofa with a giggle that curled through the air like smoke. Without hesitation, she climbed into his lap, her hands sliding over his chest, her lips dangerously close to his neck. She moved as if I were invisible—like I was nothing more than a speck of dust on the edge of her perfect world.

The bass from the club’s speakers pounded through the walls, but all I could hear was the ringing in my ears. My breath caught in my throat. My chest tightened.

Was this why he brought me here?

To watch this?

My eyes burned. I blinked rapidly, willing the tears to stay where they were, buried behind every wall I’d ever built to survive him.

I turned toward the door. I didn’t care where I’d go—I just needed to be anywhere but here.

“Sit down,” his voice cut through the room like cold steel. “You dare not leave.”

I froze mid-step.

The weight of his command rooted me to the floor. My fingers curled into my palms, nails digging into skin. I swallowed the lump in my throat.

So this was the game.

He wanted me to watch. Watch as she touched him, as he let her. Watch while every piece of my dignity shattered like glass under his boots.

My stomach twisted.

A cruel smirk painted Julia’s face as she slowly tilted her head toward me, her eyes glinting with triumph. Stephen said nothing, made no move to stop her.

And in that moment, standing there in the center of that lavish VIP room with strobe lights flickering across leather couches and champagne-scented air, I understood—

He wanted to break me.

Why was he tormenting me like this?

SELENASilence had never felt so heavy.I sat on the cold marble floor, tracing invisible patterns with my tiny fingers. My doll, the one with the missing eye and frayed dress, lay forgotten beside me. Something was wrong. The front door creaked open. My head snapped up just as a man stepped inside. He was a familiar face one of my father’s visitors, always with a friendly smile. But today, there was no smile. No warmth. Just the heavy thud of his boots as he walked toward me.A strange chill curled down my spine.“Where’s my father?” My voice was small, nearly lost in the thick silence stretching between us.The man crouched in front of me. His fingers brushed against my hair, gentle yet unsettling.“Selena…” His voice wavered, thick with something I couldn’t name.I swallowed hard. “Where is he?”A deep sigh escaped him before he finally met my gaze. “Your father is watching over you from above.”The room tilted.No.I had heard those words before. SELENA“Watch your tone, boy!” Alpha Kingsley’s voice lashed through the air, sharp as a whip. “You will respect my late friend’s daughter. She is your sister now, and you will treat her as such.”Stephen stood rigid, his fists clenched, eyes burning into mine with raw hostility. The air between us crackled, thick with something unspoken, something dark.“I will never accept her as my sister.” His voice was low, dangerous. Then it erupted. “Her father killed my mother!”The words slammed into me like a physical blow. My breath hitched. No—that couldn't be true. My father, the man who taught me how to braid flowers into my hair, who carried me on his shoulders when my legs were too tired to walk—a murderer?A chill crept through me, curling around my spine. I took a step back, instinctively seeking shelter behind Alpha Kingsley. Stephen’s fury was suffocating, wrapping around me like an iron grip. This wasn’t home. I was an intruder.“Enough, Stephen!” Kingsley’s voice rang with unyiel

I groan, shifting under the soft cotton sheets, but the warmth disappears in an instant as they’re yanked away.“Wake up, sleeping princess. It’s almost noon,” a teasing voice cuts through my haze.My eyes snap open. I blink rapidly against the brightness, my vision adjusting to the figure standing beside my bed. A woman with dark hair pulled into a neat bun, warm brown eyes filled with amusement.“Good morning, ma’am,” I mumble, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. She chuckles. “It’s Elizabeth.”Oh. Right. I should’ve asked earlier. Embarrassment burns through me as I press my lips together.“What time is it?” I ask, stretching my stiff limbs.“Late enough for the Alpha to wonder if you’re part vampire,” she jokes. “It’s already noon.”Noon? My stomach drops. I bolt upright. “Why didn’t you wake me sooner?”Elizabeth folds her arms. “Because the Alpha ordered us to let you rest. But now that you’re

The moment he brought her into our home, he made his choice. And I made mine.My jaw clenched as the screen lit up for the fifth time. With a sharp exhale, I snatched the phone off my desk and pressed it to my ear.“Why have you not been picking up my calls, son?” His voice carried the same controlled authority as always, but I could hear the frustration beneath it.I leaned back in my chair, staring at the ceiling. “I’ve been busy training new recruits, Dad. Some of us actually have work to do.”Silence stretched between us. Heavy. Suffocating. It should have made me uncomfortable. It didn’t.“Selena is on her way to Lycanwood Academy,” he finally said.I smirked. Of course, she is.“Is she still wolfless, or has the Moon Goddess finally taken pity on her?” I asked, my tone dripping with feigned curiosity.A loud thud rattl

SELENAThe moment I stepped onto Lycanwood Academy’s grounds, I knew my life had just taken a dangerous turn. A shiver ran down my spine, not from the crisp mountain air but from the weight of the unknown pressing down on me. My suitcase dragged behind me, its wheels grating against the cobblestone path, mirroring the anxiety curling in my stomach. The stares came first—piercing, judgmental, and laced with curiosity. Then came the whispers, hushed but unmistakable. I didn’t belong here, and they knew it.I kept my chin high, ignoring the dread clawing at my chest. I had begged Alpha Kingsley not to send me. I had pleaded. But his decision was final. Now, I was at the mercy of a brother I had never met. Did I expect Stephen to welcome me with open arms? Call me his sister? The thought was laughable.A tap on my shoulder made me jolt.“Ma’am, this way.”A young staff member stood before me, her face neutral, though something in her eyes flickered with sympathy.I inhaled sharply, pushin

If I don’t have time, I’ll assign a student to help with the tour. Have a wonderful evening,” Lilith said, her voice smooth but distant. She turned on her heel and left, the door clicking shut behind her. A heavy silence settled in, pressing against my chest like a weight.I exhaled slowly and turned to my suitcase, flipping it open with little energy. Nestled between my neatly folded clothes was a small lunch bag. A note peeked out from under it.I know you’ll be very tired on your first day. Eat this to give you strength. I hope you’ll be able to overcome your fear.A small, tired smile tugged at my lips. Alpha Kingsley. He had always looked out for me. Ever since my father’s death, he had protected me like I was his own. No one questioned it, and over time, I stopped questioning it, too.I pulled out a pack of biscuits, te

That look. The one that twisted my stomach in knots. Cold, sharp, and dangerous the eyes of someone who’d done terrible things and wouldn’t hesitate to do more. Before I could step back, his hand snapped around my waist, yanking me toward him. His grip wasn’t gentle. It was possessive, forceful. My skin crawled beneath his touch, and yet… betrayal surged through me when my body reacted heat pooling where it shouldn’t, a pull I didn’t understand.No. Stop it. I screamed at myself, mentally slapping sense back into my spiraling thoughts. Get a grip, Selena. Don’t you dare give in to this.“Let me go,” I hissed, shoving at his chest. But he only tightened his arms around me, caging me like a prisoner.“You don’t hug my cousin like that,” he growled, his breath hot against my ear. “You

Tall. Broad shoulders. Confident posture. A stranger.Of course. Just my luck.I looked back down, pretending I hadn’t heard him, letting my eyes scan the same line I’d read a hundred times. Maybe he’d take the hint and walk away.“You know,” he leaned in a little, whispering now, “it’s kind of rude to ignore someone’s greeting.”My fingers tightened around the edges of the book. Could he not feel the storm of ‘leave me alone’ radiating off me?But I didn’t want to cause a scene. Something told me whatever was waiting for me inside wasn’t good but did I have a choice? No.I knocked once. Silence.I waited. Not even a faint acknowledgment came from the other side. But I knew better. His number one rule never enter without permission.I hesitated, the silence stretching like an invisible rope around my throat. I knocked again, lighter this time, my knuckles brushing the polished wood. Still nothing. Then his voice came, low and smooth like poison slipping into a drink.“Come in.”I sucked in a shaky breath and pushed the door open slowly.Stephen sat behind his massive desk, the soft glow of his laptop screen painting harsh lines across his face. He didn’t glance up, didn’t pause. His fingers clicked across the keyboard like I wasn’t even there.I stepped inside cautiously, the door closing behind me with a soft click that sounded too lou

The house—his house—was massive, each hallway twisting into another, a labyrinth I couldn’t escape. The more I ran, the more I heard him, his voice cutting through the silence like a knife.“You can’t run from me, Selena. I’ll find you.”The sound of his voice made my skin crawl. It always did. But it wasn’t just his voice—it was the song. The one that had haunted my nightmares for as long as I could remember.I am a beast, capable of doing terrible things...The words wrapped around me like chains, squeezing the air from my lungs. I couldn’t breathe. My feet faltered, my legs heavy, as though the very weight of those words pressed down on me.I am a beast, capable of doing terrible things...I froze. He was getting closer.
