SKY POV

It was hurting.

The mere thought that I had lost the battle even before I could fight was so gruesome that I had a hard time believing it. Of course, I knew that the ol’ little Skylar was never a match to her undemandingly unflawed sister, but I had a hope, a little glimmer of hope that danced inside of me, like a candle in the dark illuminating my very dark world; that maybe, just maybe Kayden will put even an ounce of effort and fight for what we had. Whatever it is we had.

I guess I may have overestimated myself and my feelings for him, thought and believed upon myself that he will stand by me as I did him, and not be swayed by the dire temptation that made him lose focus. But the idea of everything that we had, those little moments where he held me close to his body and looked at me like I was the only thing in this world, in his world, they were hard and made all of this sixty-four dollar distressingly unbearable.
