“Hey, birdie.” His voice reached my ears like a sweet harmony. “I missed you.”

Miles's hand cupped the side of my face, my dream feeling so real. I leaned into his warmth and closed my eyes, relishing the touch.

I missed him far more than I had let myself realize.

I placed my hand on top of his, our fingers threading together.

“Dove, open your eyes.” His voice was soft and comforting. It reached deep into the crevasse of my chest and stroked my heart gently.
