Marcus pov
“Marcus, you need to start talking.” Natalie said from across the table.
We were currently sitting in my living room after having showered and changed into our night clothes. Natalie had tried talking to me on our way back home but I remained dead silent. I was too furious to say anything and I was afraid that I would unnecessarily project my anger towards her. Moreover, I was hell bent on going away from that wretched place as soon as I could, so that the air I breathed no longer had any traces of her lingering.
“What do you want me to say?” I asked, eyes fixed on the glass window onto my right.
Streams of moonlight poured in through them, reflecting off the beads of moisture that acc
Kiara’s POVAs I was nearing the day, exhaustion was slowly taking over me. We had history class in the end, and I struggled to keep my eyes peeled apart all through the hour. When my classes for the day were finally complete, I leaped from my seat to hurry back home as soon as I could. There was nothing I desired more than the comfort of my bed and the relaxing sleep it would offer.I had barely caught any sleep last night after coming back home at 2 am. Anna had just returned to our room then, so when she saw my state, she was taken by surprise and demanded to know what happened. By the time I finished narrating the events that occurred at her workplace, the night broke into the dawn. I had expressed how sorry I was for not having been of much help to her at her work place, but she assured me that it didn’t matter. Her employer w
Kiara’s POVThick layer of moisture accumulated on the glass, impairing its limpid view. The weather outside was colder than normal as the dark cloud eclipsed the sunlight. The calmness in the air warned of a possible downpour later in the evening, as darkness was slowly engulfing the town. A ring of a bell snapped me back to reality. Looking over my shoulder, I glanced at the new arrival in the cafe, but it was not somebody I knew.Sighing, I brought my attention back to the hot coffee placed before me. The latte art still lingered on top, undisturbed. Scooping my fingers around it, I felt the warmth seep through my skin. As I took a sip from the hot liquid, I couldn’t help but wonder if I was going to be stood up after all. When it came to Asher, I had little
Kiara’s POVWas I hearing him right?I was tempted to believe that this was all a dream, an alternate reality I’d once hoped for, since that seemed more realistic than believing Asher was actually admitting that he liked me. I’d never thought I’d see a day where he would be willing to have a nice conversation with me, much less admit he has got feelings for me. However, despite the astonishing sincerity in his eyes, I struggled to believe him. Doubts plagued me as I tried to find truth in his words.A vivid memory claimed my mind at the moment, reminding me of how he had spent the night with Leslie after he rejected me. Leslie flaunted the news in my face the next morning at school, and my heart was still sensitive to the betrayal I felt that day. I
Kiara’s POV“He did what?” Anna’s eyes turned into circular globes at my words.Collecting my face within my palms, I let out a tearless sob. “Yes.”“Shit, Kiara,” she exclaimed, “That is one plot twist.”“Tell me about it.”“Do you believe him though?”“Frankly, I don’t know. But he seemed much too sincere for me to completely take it as a joke. Like, the man was close to crying at one point. He seemed rather desperate.”
“Leslie, I think-” My words hung in the air as Leslie pushed my food tray in anger, causing it to fall to the ground. The entire cafeteria fell silent at once and all eyes were now drawn to the commotion at our tables. With widened eyes, I gulped, apprehensive of what she was going to do now. “You just can’t let me live peacefully, do you?” She said, “Your father already betrayed the entire pack, now you want to follow his footsteps and destroy our harmony further?” “Leslie, I promise that I didn’t do anything.” “Do you take me for a fool?” She demanded in anger. “Are you expecting me to believe that Asher changed his mind on his own, without your intervention? You think he woke up on
I was always aware that I was gifted with a great memory. Growing up, I was decently good at academics, and many times, I credited my memory for it. Additionally, I had also been extremely driven and hardworking, which eventually led to me acquiring my scholarship. Leslie had always been jealous of me for it, not because she was an academic or hungry for opportunities, but because she was purely driven by her everlasting grudge against me. It often vexed her how she could destroy everything I ever had but could never take away my education from me. It’s moments such as those that restored my faith, assuring me that there was still a place in this world for people like me.Relying on my recollecting abilities, I confidently led myself to Marcus’ house. As I entered the street, memories from the night I had first come to his house flooded my brain. Mostly, I only harbored bitt
Life had a peculiar way of astonishing me. The reality of my current situation was not something I’d ever dared to even dream about. Every now and then, I found the urge to pinch myself so I could affirm that what was happening was indeed real. Right now was one such moment. A moment so extraordinary that it hardly felt tangible. As I stared at Marcus, his glassy eyes now filled with desperation and new found defeat, I realized that I had indeed ceased breathing. My mind had temporarily surrendered to a wave of shock, refusing to accept any revival to slip back into sanity. His words echoed in my brain incessantly, and with every repetition, I only grew more receptive to its meaning.“What?” I’d finally mumbled, but that question was hardly posed for him. Instead, I was aiming to demand an answer f
I gulped as we submerged ourselves in our explosive chemistry. Within moments, I felt the chill in the air fan against my abdomen, as the coat of fabric protecting it was gently peeled away. As he pulled my shirt away from my head, my hair fell on my chest in curls and tangles, prompting him to examine the pattern they created on the canvas of my skin. I watched as his pupils dilated, his brown eyes now darkening at the view. A black lace bra was concealing my breasts, but its compression had only accentuated its appearance, jutting them out. In this position, they appeared fuller than they were, threatening to spill from the padded cups that held them.Marcus surely knew the feel of them against his palm, but he never had the chance to see them bare. I watched as his eyes now moved to capture mine, and they were brimming with raw desire.
