40. You're my mate

Kiara’s POV 

Thick layer of moisture accumulated on the glass, impairing its limpid view. The weather outside  was colder than normal as the dark cloud eclipsed the sunlight. The calmness in the air warned of a possible downpour later in the evening, as darkness was slowly engulfing the town. A ring of a bell snapped me back to reality. Looking over my shoulder, I glanced at the new arrival in the cafe, but it was not somebody I knew. 

Sighing, I brought my attention back to the hot coffee placed before me. The latte art still lingered on top, undisturbed. Scooping my fingers around it, I felt the warmth seep through my skin. As I took a sip from the hot liquid, I couldn’t help but wonder if I was going to be stood up after all.
