Marcus’ POV
The warm breeze from the sea was hard to miss as I strolled through the busy streets of the south. Humidity was apparent in the air, unlike the chill of the north or the gushy winds of Ingram. The mighty ocean had been magnificent last night when I arrived in town, perfect for a good night’s hunt. I had never been more gutted that I couldn’t transform into my wolf, for it would have been a splendid night.
Now as I walked through the crowds, I couldn’t help but feel Kiara’s absence by my side. In any other circumstance, this would have been an amazing place for us to take a break in and enjoy. It was so different from the places we’ve lived our entire lives, and some change would have definitely done us good. Down the line, if all went well, maybe I could plan something for K
Lucien’s POVMy father was a brutal man. For him, nothing was above his desires or wishes. Not even his own son. When I went behind his back and supported the werewolves in rescuing Bella, I had given him the perfect opportunity to eliminate me. He had never been fond of me, for I was the only one that didn’t encourage his cruel ways. My younger brother, Arthur, was a much better son to him, for he always supported his notions.Because of this, my father was waiting for me to fuck up in anyway, so he could find an excuse to kill me. When I handed that excuse to him on a silver platter, he almost succeeded in killing me. It was because of Bella’s pack that I was alive. For over a week, he had people thrash me until I bled out. I was deprive
Kiara’s POVThe waves of the air carried its relentless energy, striking against the mountains with might. It threatened to crumble the we lived on, waging a war against nature. Laura was standing at the edge of the cliff, fearlessly facing the wrath of nature, the same entity that she was deriving her energy from.I could find Bella beside her, seated a little away, patiently waiting for her to join her. We arrived at this location almost an hour ago, helping Laura make the necessary arrangements to perform the spell. Once we were done, Laura sought to be alone with Kiara and asked me to move away, as it was a spell that required utmost attention and focus from Laura. No distraction could come in the way as she derived the energy from nature to cast the spell.
Kiara’s POV It felt as though someone punched me in the gut. None of her words made any sense to me but that name sent my emotions into chaos. An unknown fear had begun to grip me, the possibility of losing what I cherished most getting closer to reality. “Audrey?” Bella was the first to speak, “How the hell did she get here?” “She’s been living with us for months.” The receptionist said, “She recently completed her transformation into a witch.” “A what?” Bella shrieked, “That bitch. What did she do to my brother?” “Ma’am, you’re creating a scene in front of our guests.” She said, “May I please request you to step out?” Bella scoffed, “I’m not leaving without seeing my broth
Bernard was silent as he drove the car. He had been waiting for us when we arrived from the witches’ territory, and the astonishment on his face was hard to miss. Like myself, Bernard was dumbfounded to learn the reality of our circumstance, but unlike me, he didn’t hide the anger. If left alone, he would go for Audrey’s throat in an instant. It was a good thing that we were traveling in separate vehicles.“That bitch.” He growled, “I can’t believe she bewitched our Alpha.”“The witches can’t either.” Bella said, “They said they’ve never seen such a potent love potion till now. None that could cause such a drastic change as they have seen in Marcus.”“It had to be him.
The woman screamed in pain as another wave of contraction hit her. Beads of sweat covered her forehead as she fell back on the bed in exhaustion, her husband trying to soothe her in any way he could.“Push, Alana!” Irene said as she took another piece of gauze from the tray. “The baby is crowning. We’re almost there.”Another groan left the woman as she prepared for impact. Her dedicated husband supported her in his arms as she tried one last time to expel her baby out of her womb. The operation theater froze at once as the shrill of the baby boomed in our ears. I watched as the woman’s eyes widened in surprise, and then slowly, her lips stretched into a grin. She looked at her husband in disbelief, joy erupting from both their faces.
Nervousness was creeping into me as I walked towards the Mansion. I gave a slight nod to the guards who were at the entrance, receiving a kind smile from them in return. I was half scared to find out if they were given orders to not let me in, but by the way they eagerly opened the gates for me suggested otherwise. They still remained unaware of my situation with Marcus, and the new hatred he harbored against me.The news that I no longer lived with Marcus spread in various parts of the town but nobody really knew the true reason behind our split. Ethan let them believe that we were facing difficulties in our relationship and decided to live separately for now. It was much better than letting them believe that we were actually broken up and that Marcus began dating another woman. Apart from his image in the pack, there was also a concern of how our allies would react if they caught news
There was chaos at the hospital yet again. By the time I finished rounds with one of the doctors, it was lunch time and he was kind enough to give us a break. These days, my schedule went something like this: Wake up early in the morning and study for an hour or two, get ready and go to college, attend lectures before going to the hospital, come back home rather late at night and study some more before going to sleep. Taking a break for lunch was a luxury we couldn’t always afford, so when I was given a chance, I usually tried to make the most out of it.I had made a couple of friends here, but they were currently stuck in a surgery, leaving me to myself. It wasn’t really a bother because after dealing with so many people all day, I tended to appreciate some alone time as well. I had an hour before I had to report back to duty, so I decided to step out for lunch.
Reminiscing Audrey’s words from today was sending my heart into panic, but I realized that there was also a hidden silver lining in all of this. The fact that Marcus was still affected by my presence in his life spoke volumes. I still had some say in his life and he still cared about me somewhere deep inside. I just had to focus on that part and help him realize it. After all, there was still something left in our relationship to salvage.I hadn’t realized that I was wearing a smile when I walked into the house. However, I was instantly taken aback when I found Lucien and Bella sitting in the living room. When Marcus kicked me out of his house, Ethan and Natalie insisted that I live with them for the time being. Nowhere else in the town would be safe enough for me, and they also lived closest to the university, making it a better choice over all. Since I knew that I couldn&r
