Chapter 1 - Mom, you’re awake

“Hmmm” she groans as she feels nothing but pain and it makes her unable to think properly.

“Mom, you’re awake!!!” said a young boy at around 6-7 years old.

“Wait, I’ll just call the doctor” he said and climbed in a chair and press the button above her headboard before he left the room to further call the doctor. After a minute, a doctor and a nurse came in and check her body and vitals.

“How do you feel right now?” asked the doctor.

“It felt painful...all over my body.”

“Don’t worry, I will prescribed some pain reliever to ease the pain. Right now, you don’t have to worry because your vitals are normal. You just need to recuperate and we need to further observe your condition as you just wake up from your comatose stage. You have to eat liquefied foods at least for two days to prepare your stomach then soft diet before you can eat solid food but still no meat for a month as it is hard to digest.”

“Don’t worry doc, I already noted your advises” the little boy said.

“Then, that’s great” the doctor smiled.

“Doc, how long I’ve been in the hospital?’ she asked.

“You’ve been here for over a month since then you were in the comatose stage.” the doctor explained.

“When your husband came back, tell him to come to my office for me to explain your condition in detail”

“Wait doc, what happened? Why am I here?”

“Did you not remember anything?”

“I just remember that I was in a hotel and when I wake up, I’m already here.”

“You were in a car accident and been in a coma for over a month. It seems that you are experiencing a temporary amnesia maybe due to shock. But as I have said it will only be temporary because your brain has no damage noted.”

“Okay, thank you doc.” she said and turns her head to the young boy in her beside.

“Mom, are you okay?”

“Yes.” she smile. She tried to calm herself. It is a good thing that she is a reserve type person and think before she speaks because right now, she’s already freaking out hearing a child calling her Mom and the doctor saying about her husband coming back.

As if, what the hell is going on here. I’m still single and virgin, okay, and where the hell I get this instant son and husband. She sighed and tried to calm down, it is better to assess the situation first and that can only be done if she can ask someone. Well, the doctor said that she has an amnesia. Did it mean that she only remembers the event before she got married and have a son.

“Son, can you bring me a cellphone, I just want to search something” she wanted to search the result of the “Iron Master Chef” competition.

“H-here Mom.” the boy gives her the cellphone with a shocked look. It was his first memory of his Mom calling him ‘Son’.

She tried to pick the cellphone but she can’t raise her hands.

“I can’t pick the cellphone”

“What do you want to search, Mom?”

“It’s nothing, I can do it later, it’s not really important”

“Mom, are you hungry? I will call Aunt Melba to cook for you.” the little boy said when the doctor left the room.

“Yes, can you please give me the water?”

“Okay”

“Here, Mom. Be careful.”

“Thank you.”

“Mom, you don’t have to thank me.”

“Mom. Do you want fruit? We have grapes, Dad buy it because its your favorite.”

“No, I can’t eat it because you have to make it first in a juice form”

“Why?”

“Well, that’s what the doctor said.”

“Ahhh, Is that what the doctor means when he said liquefied food.”

“Yes, the food must be converted to a liquid. You can do that by using blender.”

“Okay, I will explain to Aunt Melba.” the little boy said while picking up his cellphone in his pants pocket.

“Hello, Aunt Melba, Mom is awake. Can you prepare liquefied food. Mom said you need to covert it to liquid and you can use blender. No meat. Okay, can you make it faster and bring here immediately, my Mom is hungry.”

She was listening to the little boy’s conversation and wanted to wait for this Aunt Melba that the little boy referring to as she has a lot of questions to ask.

“Are you alone here?”

“No, Mom. I’m not alone because you’re here with me”

“No. I mean you’re alone taking care of me”

“Ahhh, when you wake up, Dad just left. We stayed together last night. Everyday, it was Aunt Melba who took care of you because Dad needs to go to work and I have to go school. After school I will come back here and Dad also come after his office. At night Dad will stayed with you and Aunt Melba and I will come back to our home. Then, the next morning, Aunt Melba will come back here and Dad will left to work. During weekend, Dad allowed me to stayed from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.” the little boy explained. She wanted to touch the cheeks of the little boy as she finds him so cute and adorable but restrained herself because her arm still felt numb.

“What day today?”

“Its Saturday, Dad and I stayed here last night. He usually does not come to work every Saturday but there was a call and an urgent thing he needs to fixed in the office.”

“And he left you alone”

“It’s okay, I’m a big boy and I don’t need someone to take care of me.”

She was surprised to know that this instant son of her is a bit matured at his age. When she was young, she needs to act matured and be sensible at a young age because no one will care about her other than herself as she was an orphan but that is not the case for this instant son. He is basically a child and to act matured and sensible at his age, he must experience something or is it the way he was raised or it was only his nature.
