CHAPTER 2: Affection Differ from Lust

Edward’s POV

I was drying my hair with the towel in my hand when my phone rang. I saw messages and missed calls from my girl. I answered her, before I can speak a single word she already shouted at the other end of the line,

“Who’s that girl in your dorm that you are making out with on Instagrove live?!”

I didn’t answer her but I frowned, my what?

“How dare you made your cheating live in a broadcast! Wanting some audience is that what you want to show off?!”

“Babe I don’t know what you’re talking about, look…”

I didn’t even finish my explanation when she cuts me off.

“Oh, come on Ed, don’t hit on me, your little dirty bags of neurological tricks! The evidence was posted on your personal social media account that had been festive with a lot of people. Is this your payback plan for the mistake I did? “

“Look, it’s not what you think…” I was talking but she continued to speak.

“And where did you get that stripper? From a club? Oh, how much did you pay? A thousand dollars?”

“It wasn’t sexual intercourse; it was a full misunderstanding.” I don’t know if she cared about my reasoning, but I certainly know she’s not listening.

Girls attitude. Better deal with this I’m a psychologist so just breathe.

“Congrats babe, you’ve got your success.” The last thing I heard before she cut off.

Curious, I checked my account and saw the life that happened earlier before I turned off my phone to get upstairs.

The camera's angle is perfect. It covers our face in a blur, the camera’s focus is mainly on our hips, and the camera sometimes was facing her back, it was not that recognizable at the beginning. The footage starts when we fall, it looks like were kissing because of my hair covering her head view. Were so close as I lay on her top. This time in a second his face was revealed then block again by our constant movements. The video covered the scenario until we moved towards the cabinet together to take the scissor. It looked like were kissing backward as we are walking so close to each other.

Damn, scandal.

I tried to reach my girl again but she already turned off her phone. What a drag.

At work, without focus, I still managed to go.

I just signed my contract for my new client. The funny thing was seeing her face at my client’s data. She will be my employee and the parent of my patient.

Although disappointing to hear that she had her child already, nothing less than my burning urge to see her is the only thing that mattered to me now. I was just hoping that she’s not yet married or she’s divorced already.

Damn, what am I thinking? I’m in a relationship, shit.

“Good luck with your new mission Doc,” Cass said to me as I was packing my needed things inside my bag.

“Thanks, Cass,” I said smiling at her.

“You’d know the case, right? Are you sure you can handle it?” A worried expression plastered on her face.

“Sure, everything for my research,” I replied heading towards the door to leave.

I was a Psychology Doctor abroad but right now I was in this hospital for the civil service in exchange for executing my research and gaining more experience. I was temporarily residing here until I finish my study. My senior told me earlier that I need to have this contract or else our big investor, which is her company, is pulling off their share which is supposedly the funds that we’re using in our research if we didn’t present another psychology Doctor to handle his son.

My hard work will go to waste if that would happen so I immediately agreed, that there is nothing to lose. After all, I can consider my client as one of my test subjects. And I can be with her, sounds illegal because I’m already in a knot, but who knows when affection strikes at a man’s, manhood.

I came to DV’s fashion company to meet the parent of my client excitedly. According to my information paper, my client is a six-year-old boy having post-traumatic trauma, he can’t speak after the accident he suffered three years ago.

With my white coat, I entered the building. On my way to the elevator, I saw a little girl crying in the middle of the ground floor. Employees just passed by her, pretending like she’s not existing. I walked in her direction and pats her head.

She moves her head up, looking up at my face with a teary eye. She had a beautiful brown eye and a puffed reddish cheek. Her face was quite similar to her. Her dark brown bouncy hair is the same as her. They are relative perhaps.

‘I didn’t imagine that meeting her kids will lead my way to be with her.’

I get my bag and the lollipop rainbow I put inside earlier. I gave it to her and kneels on one of my legs making me as tall as her.

“For such a beautiful girl like you, why are you here crying alone?” I pinched her nose and add, “If you continue being like this, you’ll become a Rudolf for your reddish nose.” I pinch my noes and put my hand above my head doing gestures of a stuffed animal.

Once she laughs, I also replied smiled widely, and lift her in my arms.

“Come, let’s go to the reception, and let’s call your parent to pick you up so you can go…”

“Do you want to see my mom?” She cut me off with her tiny little voice.

“Do you know where she is?” I asked her then,

“Yes,” she replied.

We both entered the elevator while she was in my arms lifting her. She’s the one who pressed the floor number. We are accompanied by a girl employee who also entered. The girl smiled at me so I did the same but later on, she lowers her head facing down. I looked at the little girl in my arms that she had looked at before she avoided my face. The little girl just smiled at me, so, I just shrugged at her.

We reached our floor destination and I get her down, she holds my hand and leads our way. She’s jumping happily as she swings her hand holding the lollipop, I gave her.

As she opened the door, that’s where I saw her. In this peach office with a cozy smell. A vibrant sensation welcomes me which I find addicting.

As we meet our gazes, a feeling of an electromagnetic voltage of power is run through, burning in my heart.

I bet she was talking when we came inside as she left her mouth open in shock. There is another girl in her room, grinning.

I was melted, melted to see her face once again in a beautiful arrangement of a posture herself, unlike yesterday. Her curves are perfectly fitted on her dress and although her breast was covered, I still can see her hotness today.

Her eyes are like chocolate hazel nuts, the more I stare at them, the more a magnetic pull feeling is pulling me to be next to her.

I had never felt this feeling before, not even with my girl. Even when we’re having our intercourse.

I realized that lust and affection differ when we felt these feelings from two different persons.

I am not a maniac; I did not imagine myself being with her in bed doing sex. I just had the feeling of a burning sensation just to be with her near. Even not touching her makes my heart pounds very fast. Our eyes staring at each other is enough to say that we are connected.

Our stares at each other end when her son runs towards me and hugs one of my legs tight.

“Oh, baby boy it was you once again,” I said as I saw and recognized his face.

He was the boy I helped yesterday on finding his way back to her mother, he’s mute so I just need to approach him nicely and manage to guess his sign language. If he’s here then maybe the woman she’s pointing out is her.

“Hi mom, I found this man and I think I can make him my dad. He’s also kind,” the little girl suddenly speaks excitedly beside me.

The woman glared at her and exclaimed, “Sava! Get back here,” the girl runs at her and she pins its ear. “I told you not to take food from strangers,” she added.

“Hi handsome, may I know how can I help?” The other woman sitting in a chair said to me and winked after.

“I’m a psychologist and I’m here to meet my client,” I said calmly as I approach the woman I wanted to see and strike up a conversation with.

I still didn’t know her reason for trespassing my house, yesterday. Although her intentions seemed to be not dangerous and looking innocent. Maybe I still had the right to ask.

“Seems like the one who trespassed my house last night is the one I looking at this moment,” I was giving him the stares that every girl I meet falls into.

The other woman beside her that approach me first, gasps and strikes a meaningful smile looking at her. I can see that she already knows what happened between us.

She clears her voice first before she replied. Her gaze avoided my stares.

“I can see that you’re the new Doctor that will hold my son’s case, may I offer you a seat to further discuss our business.” She then motioned me to the chair in front of her desk. She seated first before me.

“You’re handsome just to be a doctor, you can be a model instead,” the other woman that I was facing this time speaks again. I just smiled at her.

“No, thank you. I much more love my profession at this moment.”

“Oh! really? I can see that you’re an expert when it comes to love.” She grins meaningfully.

“Stop that Chantal!” She rebutted without looking. She constantly flips the pages of the documents she’s holding.

“How about making love in a soft foam with pillows and sheets,” Chantal said seductively.

“I don’t think if I was allowed to answer that by profession.” This woman is witty as she portrays in her clothes which is already revealing her everything.

“We're going to wreck that sheets and pillow finding our version of the way to heaven.” Then she made her hands act like a cat, perhaps a tiger, and then said, “Roar!”

“Chantal, there are kids in this office and I certainly think that you need to exit that door, now.” She now speaks with her solemn voice while her eyes are intently glued to Chantal.

“I’m Chantal by the way, nice meeting you Mr. Psychologist.” While walking towards the door she’s waving her hands.

Then she leaves laughing.

“You can make love?” Innocently asked by her child while looking at me straight in the eye, she licks her lollipop before she added, “How did you do it?”

“Sava out!”

It was me and her left alone.

“Okay, ahm…” she faked a smile. I don’t know if she is trembling but I just saw her hands shaking. Indeed, her voice was still in her normal tone.

“I’m Samantha De Vera, the CEO of this fashion brand and I certainly know that you already had the medical background and information of my child. But if you had more questions about him, you can ask me further.” I just nodded.

“Then I guess that we will just work on our terms and conditions.” She was not looking at me while she said her statement. Avoiding me is her tactic now.

“Here are my rules and regulations, you can add yours at the end.”

I scan the paper and found out that there is plenty of rules.

“How about the payment, how did you want to execute it, every month, week, or every three days?”

“I would be glad if it was sum up until the end of our contract,” I replied and looked at her.

Finally caught her staring at me once again, “Then that was glad to know,” she averted her gaze after.

“Out of the job conversation, shall we?”

She did not respond after a minute. So, I continue,

“Why are you at my home that night?” I noticed that she pinches her cheek.

“Please sign the contract first.” So, I did it and she do the same.

“According to our contract, sub-article personal life under the sections of private questioning. You are not allowed to ask your employer any personal questions with regards to her own life unless it was connected to her children.”

“Precisely,” I said mocking her. “That’s why I had the right to ask. Is that being about your son that was missing? You’re looking for him last night, right?”

She stops reading and looks at me with a frown.

“I should add to that contract; questioning with regards for medical purposes only.” I just shrugged. And add another statement,

“Brave for you to trespass someone’s personal…,” I put stress on my last word, “dorm just to find your son. What if the house you’ve entered was a criminal murdering room?” I laugh softly. “You are probably dead right now.”

She glared at me, sending an intimidating aura. Too, bad I won’t stop.

“I was the one carrying him last night to get back on his way. He was lost and crying. We stop at my dorm first to get him a handkerchief and wash his face before we headed back right into your event.”

I get some books inside my bag and present them to her.

I can see that she’s guessing my point by doing this. Her eyebrow might be connected if she frowns her forehead more.

“I just assess the core problem of your relationship with your kids. This might help.” And I showed her the books one by one.

“Guess what? I also did the same thing I did to your son this morning within your daughter. As your Doctor, I discovered that you, somehow, as their mother neglect some parental duty due to your overworking.”

For instance, she stands furiously.

“That’s it!” I was honestly surprised by her sudden reaction.

She turned her back on me and walks back and forth. Maybe thinking the right words to tell me, to not offend me in any way. Quite professional.

“As their mother, I certainly think that I know what I’m doing.” She stops her steps and looks at me irritated.

“I pay you to diagnose and do something to bring my son's usual self back, not to assess me as their mother. That is two completely different things, mister,” she urged pointing her reasons out.

I bit my lips and stands head held high looking at her. This is going to be a tough mission.

“I will be going to enroll you at my…” A strong force of a punch suddenly landed on my face. Blood runs out of my mouth.

“Is this the man that you replace my son with?!”

A furious man appeared at the scene with his boiling face pointing his hand at me.

What the…?!
