"I am no longer a child, Dad! I am not some kindergarten kid that you can control with a snap of your fingers. I am grown. I am a thirty-one-year-old man and I can make my own choices. You are not living my life; I am in charge," Richie declared firmly over the phone.

"Why would you want to replace Gracy?" his father asked, his voice tinged with exasperation.

"Because I want to marry the mother of my kids. I have explained this over and over, but it seems you don't want to listen," Richie replied, his frustration evident. "Do you really want me to live an unfulfilled life? One filled with anger and resentment? Do you think about my happiness at all, Dad? Don't you want me to be happy?"

"I do want your happiness, but Gracy won't stop that from happening and you know it," his father countered.

"My happiness doesn't lie with her; it lies with Leah. I'm sorry, Dad, but I won't do what you’re asking," Richie said resolutely.
