OUT OF DANGER

Leah tried to call Daz because she overheard him on the phone talking to Richie before he left. "He should be with him, I guess. Look at the time, and he isn't home yet. Am I not supposed to be worried about him and his whereabouts? He has never gone out without calling me once or twice to check on me or the kids," she thought.

Dazzle’s phone kept ringing, but he didn't notice until his mother spoke up.

"Aren't you going to take those calls?"

"Calls? Oh, I was lost in thought."

"Yes, I noticed."

Immediately he saw the caller, he frowned and started fidgeting. "What should I tell her? Leah, Richie's woman, is calling me right now."

"Just pick up and be normal. She must be very worried if she reached out to you," Mrs. Leo said.

He picked up. "Hey, what's up, sister-in-law?" he asked, trying to act normal.

"Not so good. I have been trying to call Richie, but he seems not to be close to any of his phones. Can you at least let him know that I am calling if he is still with you?"

This is a really good book. I was skeptical in the beginning with Richie’s approach to finding Leah and boys, and the kidnapping (eyebrow raise). But I have come to appreciate Richie’s way of loving. Great “no room for misunderstandings” kind of love. Thank you for this read!
