***Audrey's POV***
After having dinner with my brother, I decided to do the dishes, since Daniel had refused to do the dishes.
“Daniel, this isn't fair. I'm your elder sister, you ought to do the dishes.”
“Hell no, why do the dishes when you're here, hahaha.”
Daniel gave me that annoying laughter I always hated.
“I swear, I'm going to kill you!” I said with gritted teeth.
“Oh no! Don't get mad, I'm still your baby brother, you know. Killing me will make you lonely.”
I rolled my eyes to the back of my head. There he goes again, trying to take advantage of the situation.
“Well, in this case, I might as well adopt a dog. At least he would do the things I ask.”
“Goodness! You're so cruel, Audrey.”
I gave him a smirk, “ how come you're only just finding out about that now?”
“Let's get serious. Sister, what are the odds that you'll find your mate this year?”
“My mate?” I never really thought about it before now. I've been too busy with the study of medicine to care about a mate.
“You're silent, sister. Don't tell me you didn't think about a mate yet again?"
I quickly stopped washing and turned around to face Daniel.
“You're just 16 Daniel, why are you thinking about your elder sister's mate?”
“Because I have a feeling that you'll meet him soon,” he stated with a grin.
“What? You are so unbelievable. Your thoughts are out of the world!”
“You know, everyone can't be serious in the family. I choose to live my life freely, and so should you, sister. You're too uptight, no wonder you don't have a boyfriend yet.”
I raised my gaze up to the sky, with clenched teeth. I swear, I'm going to kill that kid. I quickly picked up a frying pan from the dishes I've washed and headed towards him.
“Oh no! The baby tiger is at it again.”
“And you are the baby wolf who just wouldn't stop getting on my nerves!”
While I was chasing my brother, I suddenly heard my phone ring. That made me pause and turned around to the table where my phone laid.
“Is that mom? I'm sure she's the one calling,” Daniel said while panting heavily from the little race we just had.
“Well, we'll find out," I quickly walked over to the table and picked up my phone, looking at the caller, I discovered that it was a strange number.
I arched my brow slightly, wondering who it could be, calling me.
“Is it mom?”
I shook my head and signaled Dan to keep shut while I took the call.
“Hello?”
“Is this, Miss Audrey?”
“Yes, who am on to, please?”
“Uhm, I got your number from your mother's phone, which was badly damaged.
“Badly damaged? What are you talking about?”
“I can't say all there is to know. Why don't you rush over to Pecan hospital? Your parents actually suffered a ghastly motor accident, and they are being admitted there.”
Immediately, my fingers trembled, and the phone fell off my hands that instant.
“Audrey, what's happening?”
I clutched my chest as I felt a stabbing pain that almost made me breathless. No way! I can't wallow in pain, I need to see my parents as soon as possible.
“Dan, we are going to the hospital, and please do not ask me any questions until we get there.”
“O…oh okay,” Daniel managed to answer.
We arrived at Pecan hospital an hour later. The hospital was the biggest I've seen so far, which was built solely for Werewolf patients who couldn't heal after they had an accident.
Immediately I rushed over to the reception where I saw a young lady in a white gown.
“Please, may I know where Mrs. Victoria Baker and Mr. Austin Baker are admitted?” I asked anxiously. The nurse quickly went through the book and directed us to a room.
After we arrived there, I saw just my mom lying on the bed, all bloodied. But my dad wasn't there.
I met the doctor who was fixing a drip on my mom.
“Please tell me, how's my mother doing? And my dad.”
He stared at me with a sad expression.
“Unfortunately, your father was dead on arrival and your mom, all her organs are failing, and I can't tell whether she'll be able to survive it or not as I've done my very best.”
Immediately, I collapsed on the floor while my brother burst into tears.
“Where's my dad, I need to see him. Please doctor. I have to see my dad.”
“He's been taken to the morgue. You can pay your last respect to him, though.”
Thanks to the doctor, I was able to discover the morgue where my dad was taken to. My emotions were all over the place. I felt suffocated, like I couldn't breathe. I loved my dad and mom so much. They were the best parents anyone could ask for, but now my dad is gone, and my mom laid helplessly on the hospital bed, fighting for her life.
After I paid my last respect to my dad, I decided to return to the room where my mom laid. I left Dan with her and didn't take him along with him, knowing how much Dan loved dad.
While on my way back to the room, I was in a daze and tears ran down my cheeks. There was nothing separating me from a walking corpse. My dreams and hopes have been shattered into a thousand pieces, and there's nothing left to hold on to.
Since I was clouded in sorrow, I didn't watch carefully where I was going, and so I missed my step and headed for the ground. But just as I was about to touch the ground, someone suddenly held me by the waist and pulled me up.
“Hey, you should watch where you're going,” a rough, deep voice says. I raised my gaze upwards only to see a pair of blue, dreamy eyes. This was my first time seeing such beautiful eyes, which unfortunately were on a man.
Suddenly, my nose twitched. What was the scent I perceive? Sandalwood?
“Are you holding on to me because I'm too handsome?” He asked, which made me crease my brow in a frown.
Just then, I noticed my hands were tightly holding on to his jacket. Immediately, I let go. This wasn't the time to be getting entangled with a strange man. I need to go see my mom.
“Thanks for -” he didn't let me finish my statement before he walked away, leaving my words hanging in the air.
Why am I having such bad luck today? The best he could have done was ask me why I was crying. This made me cry even harder.
***Audrey's POV***My mom was taken home from the hospital. This was because we couldn't afford the bills the doctor mentioned. This was out of the blue, and I was still in school. I am 20 years old, and I don't have a proper job going. Omegas can live a comfortable life though, we can't be given a proper job that can actually fetch us good money. The only reason why my parents were able to afford it was because they were actually healers. My mom has woken up, but she isn't feeling any better. I had to force Dan to school, so he could focus on writing his forthcoming exams. As for me. There's nothing like writing exams for me. I have dedicated my time to taking care of my mom. I watched her day and night to make sure that she's okay. But I was scared because she wasn't healing. No matter the different healing methods I used, my mom still wasn't feeling better. I was exhausted and scared. The fact that I might lose my mom was imminent and that scared me to death because my dad wa
***Alpha Storm's POV***I met her for the first time, crying her eyes out, at Pecan hospital. She's the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on, and yet, I knew this mate bind was a disaster way before I knew I had a mate. Why? Why is someone so fragile? Her eyes are so mesmerizing that it took all the self-control in me not to pin her down to the wall and kiss her until she couldn't breathe anymore. But then, when I realized my mission, I had to let her go. Still, I couldn't help but instruct my men to keep watch over her. She had no idea I was her mate, and that's because she's an omega wolf, which makes it even more ridiculous. The next day, I asked my men about her, and they told me everything there is to know about my mate. Indeed, she was living a pathetic life. According to the prophecy, I need the help of a powerful Luna. She's nothing like a powerful Luna and definitely not the woman I seek, so why bother with her. “Alpha, why aren't you sleeping? It's way past midnig
**Audrey's POV*** I sat up straight on the bed with my eyes wide open, only to realize that I was lying in a strange bed. What the hell is happening? I shut my eyes and tried to recall what happened, and then some bits of memory came flooding. I remember I was having a drink alone when someone walked over to the bar. Damn it! I remember him. Furthermore, I recalled that I had a good conversation with him that night and I discussed my dead parents, but that's just about all that I could remember. Why can't I remember what happened beyond there? I slowly looked at the bed I was laying on and discovered that it was the fanciest bed I had ever laid on. Just then, I noticed the bed cover around me. How did I get coveted with a bed cover? I slowly pulled down the bed cover off my body, only to notice that I was stark naked. “Argh!” I screamed out in fright. What the hell happened last night? Just then a hazy memory of someone on top of me came into my head and I recalled moaning in
***Audrey's POV*** Since I already knew my brother's future was bright, I decided to go job hunting, just like I had said to myself. It was better to do things this way, and if I'm lucky enough to get a good job, my brother will never lack again. I'll make sure of that. After getting dressed, I went about job hunting, as a waitress, as that is all I could mostly do at the moment since I wasn't done with medical school. After searching for a job the whole day without any positive feedback, I decided to head to one last place before heading back home. This isn't a restaurant job, but more like a media job, and they were looking for an assistant. With all happiness, I decided to apply for the job. When I got in, I saw three other ladies who wanted the job just like I wanted. This made me feel delighted, even though I wasn't so sure I'll be getting the job. Since I was the lady to arrive, I waited for the other ladies to go in until it was my turn. Finally, it got to my turn, a
