Star POV:
I'm Star Avery Sullivan 17 years old long wavy brown hair, green eyes, I wouldn't say I'm short, but I stand at a mere 5'4 and I'm a little on the thin side. I was born and raised in Hot Springs, South Dakota I love walking around in the forest, hanging out with my friends and running through the fields of sunflowers all around the town. My parents couldn't decide on my name till the day I was born, but once my eyes opened for the first time they twinkled like a starry night sky, and named me Star at least that's what my mother told me. Keegan and Esme are my parents their doctors for the biggest hospital in South Dakota Mama is an obstetrician and my father is a cardiologist, so, they are always busy due to there work. I wouldn't say we are rich, but we're definitely not poor either I would say we live a comfortable life. Since I don't like asking them for money because I know they worked hard for it so, I got a job over summer working in a little book store named, 'Mother Goose Bookstore.” The sweetest old lady with short white curls owns the little shop her name is Cindy May she always treats me like a grand daughter making sure that I ate enough before I came into work. The first time, I meet her she asked me to call her Grandma because that is what everyone calls her in town which I didn't mind because I never got the chance to meet my biological grandparents plus two of my best girl friends work there with me to so, it is never boring, and we always find something to occupy ourselves with when we don't have any customers. Speaking of friends my best friends are Cody and Jasmine they have been together forever seriously ever since elementary school they are considered the golden couple at school and then there is Jesse and Sam you can tell they adore each other, but both are way too stubborn to make the first move. We all go to this school called Richmond High just like any other school you have your jocks, the popular kids, loners, nerds and then there is us I wouldn't say we are losers we just like to stay out of trouble and don't like to cause any unnecessary problems. All in all I'm pretty much your ordinary teenage girl. Now enough about me time for the story. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beep Beep Beep!! I jump up hearing my alarm go off dragging me out of that awful nightmare that seems to haunt me in my sleep every night for the last two weeks I don't really understand the meaning of them though. I've looked up weird nightmares on the internet, but no useful information ever comes up that explains them. I don't bother mentioning it to my parents because they are always busy with work and life plus they would probably think I'm crazy because dreaming about vampires with red eyes, witches with magic, and werewolves that change into people chasing me into a cabin in the dark forest just sounds crazy, before I get a chance to think too much into it and get lost in my mind as usual. Realizing I have to get ready for our first day of senior year Yes! Just one more year, and I'll be done and off to Stanford University in California my dream school I want to study to become a doctor just like my parents, so I can make them proud. Sprinting into the bathroom and doing my morning routines. I turn my head looking into the mirror the evidence of my hair and under my eyes definitely show that I didn't get enough sleep last night due to the nightmare again. Deciding to jump into the shower to wash my hair real quick and tame the craziness. I hear my mother calling me from the kitchen downstairs telling me to pick my pass up so, I'm not late. Jumping out of the shower I put on my clothes for the day, and finish putting my makeup on to cover my tired eyes. When I'm done I yell out... “Coming Mama” When I reach the bottom of the steps she notices me and with a smile on her face say, Star please sit down and eat before you rush out the door to school I made breakfast, you're so thin you need to eat before you wither away, and she starts laughing. When I sit down and start eating my eggs and toast with jelly I get this bone chilling feeling running down my spine that I can't seem to shake no matter how hard I try. What the heck!! All of a sudden I get pulled back into reality hearing a car horn going off, Honk Honk!!! Shit!! One of my best friends Cody is here to pick me up for school I totally forgot. I look at the time and realize we only have 15 minutes to get there so, I throw my shoes on, grab my sweater and book bag from behind the chair. Giving my mother and father a kiss on the cheek and wishing them a great day and to be safe at work. I run out the door into the nice crispy air to Cody's car where I find Cody and Jasmine making out, while waiting for me ewe!! So, I knock on the window startling them from their heated moment and start busting up laughing at their death glares if looks could kill I'd be dead by now. Jumping into the backseat of his 1980s mustang it really is a beauty with its leather seats, blue and black interior and silver body. Jasmine pulls me out of my thought while laughing her ass off, and says, What took you so long it's about damn time you show up. I roll my eyes at her, and say like you really cared seemed like you was to busy to notice if you ask me (laughing). We speed off down the road towards school, looking out the window passing time I see all the beautiful sunflower fields of South Dakota that go on for so many miles they always seem to put me at ease wishing I was out there instead of on my way to school. It's not like I hate school I'm actually very good in a lot of subjects and I love learning new things it's just some days I rather not go...Stars POV Pulling up into the school's parking lot, I immediately spot Jesse and Sam, as they always are, engaged in their usual flirtatious banter. It's as if they believe no one can see them. We wait for them, eager to head to our first class together. Unfortunately, all three of us have math as our first period, and it's a particularly dreadful subject at 8 a.m. on a Monday morning. I can't help but roll my eyes at the thought. Cody and Jasmine bid us farewell, as they're fortunate enough to have a free period where they can catch up on homework or simply hang out until it's time for class. How lucky they are. Finally, the first half of the school day comes to an end, and our gang regroups after third period. We make our way towards the bustling cafeteria, filled with hungry students ready to grab a bite to eat. However, before we even reach the entrance, an unexpected announcement over the intercom stops us in our tracks. "Star Sullivan, please make your way to the princip
Lola's POV: I wake up to my cell ringing checking the time it's 7am who in the world is calling at this hour. Checking the color id it says South Dakota police department why are they calling me so early. Answering the phone it's one of Travis and I's best friend Raven. Raven tells me there has been an accident that involves Keegan and Esmé, and we need to fly there as soon as possible, so, she can explain more when we get to the police department. Ending the call I shoot up out of the bed and wake Travis up telling him we have to go to Hot Springs South Dakota because Keegan and Esmé's been in an accident. I don't know all the details, but it is bad, and we have to go now. We have to protect Star at all costs no matter what. Travis, and I pack a bag for a couple of days with only our essentials that are needed and run out the door to our little blue pick-up truck. Heading to the airport we are silent you could hear a pin drop afraid to know what will be in store for u
Stars POV: The night comes way too soon, and my friend's leave to head to their houses. I jump into the shower and start to cry what feels like the millionth time today. I can't believe they are gone they were my rocks the people I went to them for everything big or small, and now I feel like I have no one. Getting out of the shower I change into my daddy's shirt throw on a pair of pajama pants and crawl into bed. I can't sleep that night because all I do is cry my heart out. Finally, falling into a deep slumber I get woke up by Lola knocking on my bedroom door checking on me and letting me know that breakfast is ready. Climbing our of bed walking to the bathroom so, I can do my business after I'm done in the bathroom finding my way down the steps to the kitchen sitting down at our little island to eat but I don't have a very big appetite. Lola and Travis sit down with me and tries to start some small talk. We start planning everything out for my parents funeral when that
Star POV: Stepping off the plane I stop in my tracks not wanting to move feeling nervous all of a sudden. I guess it's because I'm in a new place I've never been before. Travis and Lola has always come to visit us back home during the holidays and summer break because mom and dad were always busy with work. Travis notices my discomfort and tells me everything will be okay, and that I will love it here. We don't have to wait for our luggage because everything was shipped the night before so, it would be at the house when we got there. Arriving at the house I get out of the car and just stare at their house it is absolutely beautiful with its old-fashioned Victorian style it looks like a miniature castle. Heading inside it’s just as beautiful as the outside with its high ceilings, wrap around staircase, dark painted walls, and a chandelier that hangs right in the middle of the entrance to the house. Lola shows me my room which is up the spiral steps on the second floor to the
Continue Stars POV After I calm down, Travis suggests I take the car for a spin. Excitement bubbles within me, and I can't resist the urge to jump into the driver's seat. Before I leave, Travis mentions a small café at the end of town, suggesting I check it out. I thank them, eager to explore my new surroundings. Pulling out of the garage, I head towards the café, my heart pounding with anticipation. As I approach the café, I notice a group of high school kids hanging out nearby, their laughter mingling with the thick smoke rising from their cigarettes. Ignoring their presence, I step inside the small establishment named "Grandma's Place." The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sweet pastries envelops me, enticing my senses. Walking up to the counter, I place my order for a vanilla mocha swirl and a glazed donut, unable to resist the delicious offerings. The waiter assures me she will bring my order to me shortly, and I find a seat towards the back of the café. Minutes tick
Julius POV: Julius wake your ass up! I hear my brother shout in my head. Trying to ignore him and go back to sleep all I hear is Axle's mouth repeating my name over and over again. Julius Julius Juliusssss!!! Oh, right I forgot to tell you we are vampires and can talk to each other in our minds it's called mind linking. Cool right yeah not always especially if you have an annoying brother like I do. Laughing to myself I jump up out of the bed and yell, Axel shut the hell up already I'm up and of course he responds by laughing really. Stupid brother can't live with him and can't live without him, but when you're a vampire you don't really have a choice because can live thousands of years. Unfortunately I'm stuck with him just kidding he's the only family, I have left, so I'm very protective of him even when he drives me crazy most days. Breaking my train of thought Axel throws my bedroom door open and I end up catching a pillow he threw right before it h
Stars POV: Wake up Star we are going to the county Fair before you start school on Monday. Opening my eye I feel pretty well and refreshed, and I can tell it's going to be a great day. Well at least I'm hoping it will. Lola walks in making sure that I heard her and I'm awake she sees that I'm smiling and says it's great to see you smile your parents always love it, but anyway why are you so happy? I just feel like today is going to be a good day and I'm happy about it plus we are going to the fair, and I haven't been to one since I was a little girl. I tell her while smiling like a fool. Jumping up out if bed I walk to my closet and open the door now what should I wear? hmm! nothing to fancy, but I don't want to look like a bum either you know. Finally, making my choice I grab a pair of faded blue shirts with a couple little holes because there my favorite pair plus very comfortable and I love them. I pair them with a green tank top and a half cut white jacket grabbing my co
Julius's POV: Finding out about the information Lola and Travis shared pissed me off so bad. Keegan and Esmé were like family, and we have always taken care of our, but we failed they were amazing and would give you the shirt right off there back in a heartbeat no questions asked. Esmé was part of Dustin and Trevor's pack she was an amazing warrior and great help in the pack hospital. Now that they are gone we have to keep Star safe she has been kept secret from the supernatural world but for a few people because of what she is the first bad ass hybrid vampire half werewolf, and she will be very powerful. Keegan and Esmé never told her what she really is or even what they were. They had a witch cover her natural sent and delay her powers till she turns 18 because they wanted to keep her safe for as long as they could but now that they are no longer here it's Lola Travis, and I's job to help her through everything. Wishing Travis and Lola a fair well we go out separate
