Catherine's POV
The sun stung my eyes, and I slowly sat up from bed and found myself in an unfamiliar room. The clothes scattered on the ground were the ones I wore at the mating ritual last night. Yesterday was a mating ritual in Shadow Forest. It was a tradition that werewolves living in New Jersey held a mating ritual in Shadow Forest every year. Alpha and Luna of every pack would bring their unmated werewolves here, looking for their mates at the ritual. Of course, if one didn't find one, the ritual next year was waiting for him. Once the ritual started, I strolled around with a drink, with no desire to find my mate. Well, you must wanna know why, because I was wolfless. As I was strolling around with a glass of raspberry juice in my hand, I saw my stepmother Elena Anderson talking to my stepsister Gina Wyatt under a tree in the corner of the square. Although I didn't have a wolf, my hearing was particularly excellent. Thus, I could still hear what they were talking about at a distance. Although Gina lowered her voice, I still heard it. They are speaking ill of my mother. Anger was boiling up inside me. How dare she! So when they were done talking, I stopped Gina while she was alone, asking her to apologize to my mother. Apparently, she didn't mind my warning and with a shitty face written with 'so what', so I spilled berry juice all over her, smiling to see her screaming and running away. But my stepmother was angry and shouted in Luna's tone, "Catherine! Find your sister now!" I couldn't disobey Luna's orders even if I were not willing, so I came for Gina. "Gina! Where are you?" I was now at the periphery of Shadow Forest, some distance from the square. If I kept moving forward, I would go deep into the forest. I didn't think that Gina would lose her mind and run into the forest late at night. I tried hard to ignore the laughter of the crowd to see if there were Gina's footsteps. Suddenly, I smelled the scent of vanilla. I smelled countless fragrances, but I swore that none of them were as attractive as this one. I followed the scent and tried to approach the source. When I got close to a tree, a tall man sprang out from behind the tree. Instantly, a strong scent of vanilla came at me. Though I couldn't see the guy's face in the dim light, I knew he wasn't one of my pack members. "Who are you?" I asked carefully. His breathing was loud, and I had a feeling that he was staring at me in the dark. In such a case, I didn't dare to act rashly. Suddenly, he pounced at me and had me in his arms. He was so strong that I couldn't break free. Just as I attempted to shout for help, I abruptly had a strange feeling. My consciousness seemed to be occupied by another person. I couldn't think clearly and fainted in the end. When I woke up again, I was in this strange room. I pushed away the blanket and got out of bed, picking up my clothes. There was a man's suit jacket hanging on the back of the chair beside me. What the hell? I angrily threw it onto the bed, and this jerk actually left just like that? 'Is he my mate? Why can't I sense anything now?' Despite the pain between my legs, I put on my clothes. But then I found that the obsidian pendant given by my mother was missing. After I looked for it everywhere in the room and became frustrated, I heard a knock on the door. My stepmother and father rushed in as I opened the door. "Alpha Wyatt, your daughter had been fooling around with a stranger for a whole night while the entire pack was looking for her. If others knew about it, our pack would be embarrassed!" Elena put on a surprised look and shouted at my father. After that, Elena looked at me balefully. Elena snorted and said, "Catherine, I asked you to look for Gina yesterday. But what did you do? You were actually having fun here." "No, I wasn't!" I hurriedly explained. "Look at the hickeys on your neck. Are you still trying to deceive your Alpha?" I subconsciously covered my neck. The damn man had left many hickeys on my neck. "Catherine, I'm so disappointed in you." Troy glanced at my neck and then looked at the messy room, shaking his head. I came from the Black Moon Pack, and my father was the Alpha. My mother was Paisley Davis, the last Luna of the pack. Yet she died when I was three years old. To be honest, I knew that Luna was indispensable to a wolf pack. However, my father married Elena only two months after my mother died. That was why I found it hard to believe my father was sad about the death of his mate. Elena had been targeting me ever since I could remember. Obviously, not every pack was lucky enough to have a nice Luna. "I didn't fool around." I calmed down and said calmly, "I met a werewolf on my way to find Gina, and then I fainted. I have no idea why I'm here. I think he is probably my mate." "Your mate?" Elena sneered. "Impossible. You are lying. You won't have a mate." "I know I don't have a wolf, but many werewolves like me have found their mates. Am I right?" I tried to be patient in front of my father, despite my dissatisfaction with Elena's attitude. Although I was angry about what the man had done to me, I did have a strange feeling yesterday. Yet I didn't know if that was the feeling between mates. Elena didn't answer my question but looked at my father instead. "When you were born, a witch made a divination for you and said that you were a werewolf who would never have a mate," Troy said slowly as he looked at me with pity. This came as a shock to me. "That's impossible! Impossible! How could I not have a mate?" I subconsciously said. Now I was even more desperate than I had been when I found that I had no wolf at the age of eighteen. My mind was in turmoil, and I couldn't think calmly at all. Werewolves all lived in groups, and any werewolf without a mate would be lonely for the rest of his life. "Would your father lie to you?" Elena said mockingly. Then Elena looked at my father and said, "Darling, I know you are in a dilemma. But the higher-ups of the pack are outside, and we have to handle this properly." "Catherine, I won't be partial to you even though you are my daughter." Troy took a deep breath. His face became calm, and there was solemnity and authority in his tone.Catherine's POV "Father... Alpha Wyatt..." I looked at his strange expression and suddenly had a bad feeling. "Catherine, you're banished now." Troy said seriously, "You no longer belong to the Black Moon Pack." "I am banished?" For a moment, I was lost for words. After learning that I would never have a mate in my life, I received another piece of bad news. I was banished by my father, by the Alpha of my pack. This meant that I couldn't live in the Black Moon Pack anymore. Without the protection of the werewolves, I would become a rogue. My eyes were filled with tears as I looked at my father pleadingly. Elena standing beside my father with a smirk on her face. "Alright, get out of here now. Don't present a pathetic sight. It's not us who asked you to fool around with others here," Elena spoke without scruple after getting the answer she wanted. That was who Elena truly was. She had been trying to drive me away for so many years. I was filled with sadness as tears w
******Five years later****** Catherine's POV "Miss, stop peeking at us, or I'll get angry." A cute boy said as he looked at the female werewolf who was leaning against a tree nearby to have a rest. The boy was my son, Noah Wyatt. His serious look amused those rogues around us who were resting. "Noah, relax." I gently stroked my son's hair and held my daughter closer to me. Five years ago, I became an rogue after being kicked out of my pack by my father, the Alpha. Later, I found myself pregnant. Fortunately, a friend of my mother, Mabel Erich, lent me a hand. However, I couldn't join her pack because of my father. With Mabel's care, I gave birth to my twins, Noah and Hedwig. "Mommy, are you tired? You can take a nap, and I will watch you with Noah." Hedwig looked at me with her big eyes. Noah and Hedwig were very cute. Noah was older than Hedwig. Young as he was, he was more mature than those of his age. He had a clever face with wise bright eyes. As for Hedwig
Catherine's POV In the evening, I planned to leave Noah and Hedwig in the care of Mabel. I wasn't worried at all because Mabel had helped me take care of them when they were just born. A mating gathering would be held in Shadow Forest today, and my father's Black Moon Pack would go there, too. Thus, this was the best time for me to take back my mother's necklace. I squatted to touch Noah's head and whispered, "Noah, take good care of Hedwig and stay at home with Mabel, okay? Mommy has to go out to do something." Then I kissed Noah and Hedwig on the cheek. Mabel looked at me worriedly and said, "Come back soon after getting your thing." "OK." I saw Mabel's concerned look and nodded. "Mommy, be careful," Noah spoke to me in a soft voice after he ran toward me and tugged my sleeve. I squatted again and stroked his head. Then I smiled at him with a nod of my head before I got up and pushed the door open to go outside. I gathered my coat around me. I knew Mabel was wo
Catherine's POV "I don't care who you are. I just want to take my thing back." I looked at Gina resolutely. The necklace belonged to my mother and was the only thing she had left me. To me, it was priceless. Abruptly, I noticed that Gina's eyes wandered from me to the place behind me. I turned around in confusion and saw some guys standing not far away, but I didn't know them. As I turned to look at Gina, she suddenly leaned closer to me and sneered, "I know where your necklace is, but I just don't want to give it back to you. Nothing will happen if you don't come here. But now you reminded me of those stupid things you've done. Do you want to take the necklace back? No way. Tomorrow I'll cut it up and throw it into the furnace to melt it!" "How dare you!" I felt a chill all over my body and clenched my fists in anger. "Why wouldn't I dare? Humph, let me tell you. Daddy told me a secret last time he got drunk. He said that you aren't his child, but just a bastard. You
Blake's POV This morning, I was working in the Sayreville branch of the Chavez Group. After I officially succeeded my father as the new Lycan King, I changed the name of the company to the Chavez Group. I didn't care about the opinions of those old fogies of the Council. Just as I was looking at the report my Beta submitted to me about the company, my office door was opened. I couldn't help but frown. As the door was opened, a woman in a strapless dress came in. She had long wavy blonde hair. The moment she saw me, she put on a smile that she thought was charming. She held her long hair and deliberately put them to one side, revealing her fair neck. The woman was Gina, whose father was the Alpha of the Black Moon Pack. I slept with her five years ago, but I didn't like her at all. However, in order to be the Lycan King, I promised to make her my future Lycan Luna. I looked at her in annoyance and asked, "What are you doing here?" "King Blake, there will be
Catherine's POV The next morning, I woke up early. I sat up and found Noah and Hedwig still asleep beside me. My face cracked into a smile. The two kids were my sunshine and my whole world. I patted the two kids to wake them up. Mabel had gotten the breakfast ready. After washing up, I helped Hedwig wash her face and brush her teeth. Noah was an independent kid and could do these things himself. "Mommy, hug me." Hedwig blinked her beautiful big eyes sleepily. Obviously, she didn't get enough sleep. I kissed her tender face as I got her into her dress. Hedwig had an adorable expression and didn't avoid my kiss. After Hedwig finished washing, I helped Noah get dressed. Noah really cared about his image, so I dipped the comb in the water before I combed his hair. As I combed Noah's bang back, I was astonished at the sight of his smooth forehead. "How is this possible?" The man standing with Gina last night appeared in my mind. His hairstyle was the same as N
Catherine's POV I froze for a moment upon hearing their laughter and instantly tried to dry my eyes with some tissues. But I was too flustered to find any. "Mommy, are you crying?" Just as I was getting anxious, I turned around and met my kids' clear eyes. "Who made you cry? Have you been bullied by bad people?" Noah walked over and looked at me worriedly. I immediately turned around and wiped away my tears with my hand. I forced a smile and said, "No one bullied me. I just had a piece of grit in my eye!" "Mommy, don't lie to me. Do you think we are still babies?" "Right, we are four years old now!" Hedwig curled her lips and said seriously. Mabel stood at the door, staring at me with a concerned look. Perhaps because it wasn't proper to ask the reason for my crying in front of the kids, Mabel just comforted me softly. Mabel asked, "Catherine, are you all right?" "Yes, Mabel!" I answered with a guilty look. If I had known that the two kids would come back so e
Blake's POV After returning to my residence in Sayreville, I lit a cigarette and stood in front of the window, enjoying the beautiful moon. I suddenly felt a little irritable and couldn't help but pinch myself between my eyebrows. I couldn't remember how many times I had helped Leo solve his problems. Now Leo was in Europe for a vacation, so I had to investigate the two kids for him again. What a nuisance! I cursed and then contacted Henry through Mind-Link. "Henry." I sent him a voice message. After a while, I received his reply. "Good evening, King Blake!" Henry responded. Then he joked, "I'm so glad that I haven't met my mate. Otherwise, I might not be able to spend a night alone with her." "Cut the crap." I snorted, "I want all the information about the two kids in the photo." "Got it. I'll call Alpha Theo," Henry replied in a serious tone. After cutting off Mind-Link, I put out the cigarette in my hand and went to the bathroom to take a shower. Although m
Third Person's POV"What's going on here? I just heard him mention a breakup. He wouldn't be breaking up with Sunny, would he?" Patricia was so agitated because she had caught those words.Catherine, of course, also pondered over what Leo had said, and then replied, "Grandma, it seems he announced a breakup with Miss Garcia in front of the reporters.""What's this all about? They were getting along just fine, and now suddenly a breakup? Did he initiate it?"Patricia was truly a worrier at heart. She had finally seen her grandsons with girlfriends, on the verge of settling down, but now they were talking about breaking up."Grandma, don't get so worked up. Why don't you give him a call and find out what's really going on?" Catherine comforted Patricia. In reality, she too felt a growing unease. She sensed that this matter might be far more serious than she had imagined.Patricia picked up her phone and dialed Leo's number, inten
Third Person's POV"What on earth is going on? I was telling everyone that Leo was going to be my son-in-law, and now look, everyone's calling to mock me, to make a fool of me. You unambitious girl, you've disgraced me!"Moira clearly couldn't accept this reality and the blow it dealt her, venting all her resentment on Sunny.Sunny let Moira scold her without a word of retort.Only after Moira had finished did she say, "Mom, I'm tired. I'm going to hang up now."After ending the call, Sunny closed her eyes, lay back on the bed, and felt utterly drained. She knew the days of being ridiculed were far from over, and she could only resign herself to accept it all.The news of Leo and Sunny's breakup indeed caused quite a stir. Some gloated, those who watched indifferently, and those who were secretly delighted and mocking.Among them, the most elated was undoubtedly Mirabel Field, who had always taken a dislike to Sunny. She
Third Person's POV"Fine, let's break up then." Leo snorted coldly, his tone devoid of any reluctance, "I'll have someone pack up your things and send them back to you.""Leo, I'm really sorry. Thank you for not despising me in the past...""Don't say such insincere words. If I liked you, I would naturally treat you with utmost kindness. But you didn't cherish it. You betrayed my trust, and this is all on you," Leo cut her off abruptly, then stormed out of the hospital room, slamming the door behind him.Sunny felt as if she had been struck by lightning, standing there motionless for a long time, like a frozen statue.A gust of cold air came through the window, jolting her awake. It felt like she had been in a beautiful dream, but the man who had been good to her was now gone.In the world of werewolves, the departure of a mate is a tremendous blow to the other party.Sunny felt her world collapse in an instant, as if she had lost the
Third Person's POVLeo sat on the sofa directly opposite the hospital bed, his hands constantly flipping a mobile phone. The thought of how tightly this woman had concealed things from him made his heart feel stifled. He began to doubt how genuine her feelings for him were.Perhaps her intentions for getting close to him were becoming increasingly clear—was she trying to atone for her despicable Olivia? On what grounds did she beg for his forgiveness? Shouldn't mistakes be punished?"Mmm..." Sunny, on the hospital bed, let out a faint moan, seemingly due to discomfort. Then, her tightly closed eyes slowly opened, revealing the white ceiling and the IV drip hanging nearby.'Was this a hospital?'Sunny suddenly sat up, only to meet a pair of dark eyes, their depths flickering with cold light as if carrying a Siberian chill, causing her to gasp in fright."Did you bring me to the hospital? Thanks." Sunny vaguel
Third Person's POVAt that moment, a middle-aged woman emerged from inside, her face turning pale with fright at the sight of a group of people intruding on her farm."Sir, why have you broken into my farm? Is there something you need?" This woman was Teresa, who feigned surprise as she stepped forward to inquire."Bring Olivia out!" Leo said with a stern expression."Olivia? She's not here!" Teresa immediately shook her head in response."Do you really think we'll believe that?" Leo suddenly turned around, grabbing Sunny who was walking last, and said with a gloomy face, "Didn't she come here looking for Olivia? Stop wasting time and bring her out."Sunny's face had already turned pale, devoid of any color, and her body was on the verge of collapsing.Teresa looked at Sunny, her face clearly showing a look of reproach, "Sunny, how could you do this? Do you have any idea...""Teresa, I..."Sunny tried to explain, but fou
Third Person's POV"Now?" Sunny's head buzzed, wishing she could just faint on the spot. She knew that once they went, the hidden secrets would likely be exposed. Faced with Leo's insistent attitude, she didn't know how to refuse, her heart filled with panic and helplessness.Sunny reached for her phone, but suddenly, a hand as strong as a vise clamped down on her slender wrist, gripping it tightly.Leo's voice was as cold as a winter wind, "That's right, now. You lead the way."Sunny considered pretending not to know anyone named Teresa, but her mother had already revealed everything. There was no room to feign ignorance. She forced a laugh, suppressing her inner turmoil, "I'm feeling a bit dizzy now, could we...?""No, Sunny. I want you to lead the way right now." Leo's voice grew even colder, the threat in his tone leaving no room for doubt."Alright," Sunny sighed, reluctantly agreeing. Her heart pounded, and
Third Person's POVSunny couldn't fathom his thoughts and let it go. They drove to the company. The employees at the company regarded Sunny as the future boss lady.Previously, they might have ignored her, but now, everyone was vying to get close to her and become familiar.Changes in status and identity often lead to starkly different attitudes from others. As an important person by Leo's side, Sunny naturally received special treatment and was treated differently by everyone. Everyone wanted to maintain a good relationship with her in the future to gain some benefits or avoid unnecessary trouble.Sunny knew that all of this was the special treatment Leo had given her, so she didn't dare to be too complacent. In reality, Sunny had also made quite a few enemies at the company. Female artists who had admired Leo before were now cursing her behind her back. These women, driven by unrequited love, resorted to various underhanded tactics
Third Person's POV"Pregnant?" Sunny's mind buzzed, going blank for a moment, then she hurriedly said, "That should be quite unlikely. We always took precautions.""I know, but precautions aren't one hundred percent effective. I'm just looking out for you because there are many medications that pregnant women shouldn't take." The doctor patiently explained to her."Oh! Alright then." Sunny's expression stiffened slightly, and then she was forced to recall every moment she was with Leo, thinking of those blush-inducing and heart-racing scenes, her pale cheeks flushed with a rosy hue.Leo sat on the sofa outside the door, and as soon as he saw her come out, he immediately asked, "Did you get the medicine?""The doctor wants me to get a blood test. She's worried I might be pregnant." Sunny let out a bitter smile."What?" Leo's eyes lit up instantly. For werewolves, the conception of new life is a joyous event for the family, and having a
Third Person's POV"Damn it!" Leo's heart lurched at the high-temperature reading, and he cursed under his breath. He rummaged through the first-aid kit but found no spare fever-reducing medicine. With Sunny in her current state, if her fever didn't subside quickly, she could end up delirious.Leo glanced at the time. It was a little after three in the morning. Where could he find an open pharmacy at this hour?Should he take her to the hospital? After a moment's thought, he decided to call his assistant instead. The assistant, groggy from sleep, was jolted awake by the urgent call. He quickly dressed and rushed to the hospital to fetch the medicine.Leo made a silent vow to reward his assistant handsomely for this.At five in the morning, the assistant arrived with the fever-reducing medicine.Leo expressed his gratitude, and the assistant was touched. He hadn't expected his usually aloof boss to become so considerate. With the medicine in hand, Leo brought a glass of warm water and
