My Father and I sat at the table, eating. I couldn’t stop checking the time because I didn’t want to be late to pick up Princess Daciana.

“This is the fourth time you’re staring at that wall clock. Are you going somewhere?” My Father asked, and I smiled softly.

“I have a date with Princess Daciana tonight,” I responded, and his face lit up.

“Really? That’s great! You refused to update me about her anymore. Did she like the gifts?” He further inquired.

“I think she did. I’m not sure, father. I think the only one standing between me and the Princess is her stepbrother, the Prince.” I uttered, and he creased his brows.

“What do you mean by that?”

“He’s overprotective of her. Like he doesn’t want me near her at all. He even threatened me to stay away from her.” I explained.

“But… but that doesn’t make any sense.” He answered with a confused look. “The Prince and the Princess are not friends. His majesty wouldn’t stop talking about how much they dislike each other.”
