Eloise’s POV
I rejected him because he’s an asshole who stole my virginity and my innocence. So why the hell is he here? “Dad?” I scrunch my brows, watching Alpha Kaden walk in. His head nearly hitting the door with how tall he was. He towered over us, including my father. I whip to him. “What is this?” “This,” my Dad gestured both of us to sit. He continued, “Is a negotiation.” I shake my head in refusal. “Alpha Viktor,” Kaden spoke, yet I kept my eyes fixed on my father. “Thank you for the invitation.”“You know what this means,” My father says, repeating the same words Kaden said in the phone with him. My brows furrowed tighter. Clearly, I am the only one left out.
“Can you please tell me what is happening?” I ask, frustrated that my Dad will leave me out such important information that would have to require him to invite his biggest rival, Alpha Kaden, into our home. My father gestures for us to sit. Kaden takes his, and I huff before walking over the couch and plopping my ass as it bounced. I don’t want to be anywhere near him, especially after… My wolf purred, reminding me of some scenarios where I could hear myself moaning. He lifted my ass in the air before sliding his thick, heavy cock and thrus— Oh, goddess! I clench my thighs. I could already feel my arousal trying to squeeze between my legs and I am not having that. Not here. Not in front of Dad and especially not in front of him. Even now I could feel his warmth and those lips… There wasn’t an inch of me those lips haven’t claimed, making me shiver. “Eloise, the reason why I called Alpha Kaden here is to propose a union.” Dad says, clasping his hands together in a calm manner, which is strange. “What union?” I push off of the sofa, my brows pinched. “Alpha Kaden and I discussed business and pack matters, coming into terms to the fact that you are mates,” he began. I’m blinking my eyes at Dad, while Kaden all but watches me with a cocky smirk tugging up his lips. Raising my finger in the air before I point to Kaden’s pretty annoying face, I snap at my father in disbelief. “He’s not my mate. Not anymore, I rejected him.” I reveal, and my father’s eyes flashed dangerously as if I was crossing a line. “Only on your side,” Kaden speaks, forcing me to break my eye contact with Dad. “Haven’t accepted, remember?” then he smiles and damn it, I felt like melting in his wonderful, onyx eyes. “Well then, now that is all settled, let’s talk about your marriage.” My eyes instantly dart to my father, “Marriage?” “Mates are inevitably bound to be wed, and you are mates,” My lips quiver and blood boils in heated anger, shock, and dismay. “Dad, what are you doing? You HATE him!” I shot at him. My father’s fists clench by his sides, his body trembling in his own anger yet, I will not back down. I want to understand why he’s pushing me to marry Alpha Kaden, the same man he loathed the most. “Apparently, your father has chosen to turn his back on prejudices, and think of a better future for you and the pack,” I shoot a glare at Kaden, the man is too self-absorbed with himself he can’t even read the damn room. “I didn’t ask you,” I say sarcastically. “Elle!” Dad’s voice booms leaving a ringing in my ear. He sighs, stepping forward to me. “The pack is dwindling, Elle. We need help.” He says. I scoff. “And you think this is the solution?” “No, but this is fate’s doing.” I bite my lip, looking at him in utter disbelief. “If this is about you travelling, you still can, if Alpha Kaden here allows you to,” I all but scoffed. So not only is he forcing my hand, I also have to depend on him for every decision I want to make. I cannot believe my father, who used to talk down on him because of their differences is now selling me off to save his own pack. “Listen to your father, mate,” Kaden’s voice reaches my ears. I clench my fists. I made my decision. “No, I won’t go through with it,” I say, finality tinged in my voice. “Eloise!” my father bellows, losing his patience. I stand my ground, looking at my father head-on. “I won’t get married to him. No one can force me to do so,” I say. With that, I turn on my heel, leaving the two to settle whatever they need that don’t involve me in it. I was in the shower, stepping in for the second time. I feel gross, and sticky. What is more I wanted to remove the stench he left and the feel of his calloused fingers pressing into my skin. His scent was so strong in the room I thought I had just imagined it, when I left all I could smell, feel, taste, is him. Bloody bastard left his scent all over me and walks into my home only to force my hand in marriage. And for what? An alliance? I noticed a few things these couple of weeks with the pack running out of supplies and all. Believe me, I tried to talk to Dad about it, but he hid the truth from me, lying about the pack being fine and all, when it’s not. I grit my teeth, and punch the first thing I see, which happens to be the bathroom wall. A groan instantly escapes my lips as the impact with my fists hurt. Should have said yes to those training sessions rather than escape them all the time. I sigh for the nth time, press my head against the wall as the water cascades all over me. If he’d told me the pack is in trouble, I could have helped. If he only believed in me, I could have taken the position from him and focused on restoring the pack to its former glory. But no, he insists marriage is the only answer. Not for me. Tomorrow, I will talk him into giving me the Alpha position. I will make things better, if that meant proving I don’t need a buffed-up, self-righteous Alpha to save my own pack.I can do this. I tell myself, determination coursing through my veins.
Shutting the water off, I move to grab a towel when I felt movement right behind me. “Nice ass.”Eloise’s POV:I jump, whipping around when the towel is snatched off my hand.“Kaden!” I growl at him, but he smirks at me, his eyes trailing slowly down my naked body still dripping wet.“Get out!” I snarl, my eyes darting to the other towels before he stepped into my line of vision. “Let me get one thing clear, mate,” he growled the last part as if to intimidate me, but I glared at him head-on.His brow raise. Leaning in, he breathes in my scent and growls.“You will respect the mate bond, it is sacred.” I scoff at his words. “Did my father sent you in here to change my mind? Well, bold move mister, but it is so not working,” I roll my eyes at him and shove him away, meaning to move towards my bathroom closet to get a damn towel because I’m bloody cold when he drags me right back in the same position. What the hell is his problem? “I am your mate,” he snarls.“So? I rejected you.” I say a-matter-of-factly, loving the way his lip twitched in his anger with my defiance.“And I hav
Eloise’s POV:My father has been in and out of the house this week. He doesn’t tell me but I know he’s been out meeting Alpha Kaden, negotiating pack lands and pack assets. I could tell easily when he moves past me. One whiff of his scent and my wolf perks up in attention, salivating and wagging her tail for her mate. She has been howling insufferably in my ears, forming a pounding headache for the last hour.‘Ok, that’s enough,’ I finally snap.‘This is all your fault,’ ‘How is it mine?’ I ask, appalled my own wolf would blame me for something I did. Not that this is the first, still.‘Did you have to be a bitch and reject our mate?’ she snarls. I roll my eyes. ‘And do you really have to be such a drama queen?’ ‘At least I had the brain to think through things, before randomly blurting out a rejection that could well damage our life!’ ‘Don’t tell me you’re still sulking over that. You know who he is. A guy like that? Nothing good will ever happen with us being mated to someone li
Eloise’s POV:Everything that happened afterwards slipped by in a haze. We were both drinking, and I don’t remember half of the Arcane movie he made me watch before I passed out. It was something about family members who’ve lost their way before they found each other again, and that’s when he lost me.Hmm. Strange, I remember talking to Dex about Alpha Kaden and my father’s plans on marrying me off to him for some alliance. When I came to, it was dark outside, and I was already in Dex’s car’s passenger seat. “Wakey wakey sissy,” I hear Dex whisper into my ear. The smell of his perfume brought me back to my senses.“Will you stop calling me that?” I snap at a surprised-looking Dexter leaning his arm on the wheel. He was in the same white fit shirt and shorts when I came to his apartment.“God, I’m sorry, what time is it?” I groan, touching my temple and rubbing small circles to soothe it. I close my eyes. I have this worst headache ever. My head is pounding and for some reason, my bo
Eloise’s POV:ONE WEEK LATERDad and I were watching TV while my Mom cooked us dinner. We watched a new drama series and now we’re debating on whether the lead character was getting a comeback. I thought otherwise. I was just about to throw in my argument when the news flash turned on. I wasn’t interested and was ready for my rebuttal.“So, I was thinking—” My father points his finger and shushes me.“Be quiet, Elle. It’s about our pack,” he mumbles without even looking at me and his eyes plastered on the screen.I roll my eyes and get up, about to move towards the kitchen to help my Mom when I hear my name called out from the same news my dad was watching.Slowly, I moved back towards the living room. My body tenses as I feel the intense, deathly aura oozing off from no other than my alpha father. I gulp, finally stepping back into the living room where I see him now standing watching the news. His wolf’s fur was jutting out of his skin, his eyes flickering bright gold as he fought
Alpha Kaden’s POV:My eyes are glued to the video clip on the screen my beta, Colton, handed over to me an hour ago. One hour. One fucking hour had passed but I still couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. My whole body trembled with rage, and I’m surprised I was able to hold it in even for an hour of rewatching the clip over and over. It’s her. The woman on the same video clip I kept rewatching being stroked by another man is my own f*cking mate. Naked from head to toe, her mouth opens and closes in between moans, her face contorting in pain. I have seen women who liked mixing pain and pleasure in bed. Apparently, she’s one of them.“What are you going to do?” My beta Colton asks. I deadpan to him. My face devoid of emotion. Colton leans against the wall of my office, his arms folded across his chest with a deep smirk on his face. He finds it amusing that a woman, my own mate no less, would actually cheat on the me. Never in my long line of dating women had any one of them actually we
Eloise’s POV:The feeling was instant, a suffocating pain rolling over me before the phone slips out of my grasp. My entire body is shaking, my wolf howling miserably in my head as I fall apart. My heart is breaking, and I don’t know when it will stop. A scream tore through me, and my mother who had fallen asleep by my side jolts awake, looking around in confusion before noticing I had rolled off from the bed. My body colliding with the floor once again and grazing my wounds, but I didn’t care. “El, El,” My mother’s warm hand touches my face but I flinch. I am still suffering from the aftershocks of his rejection, and my body seems to be going through a rough time processing it. I scream, scratch, as if my instincts want me to tear my heart out of my chest so it would stop hurting. My mother shrieks and tries to stop me from clawing at my chest, but I won’t budge. Tears escape my eyes, streaming down my face while I cry out in pain. He’d made it sound so painfully clear, that he can
Eloise’s POV:Some of the omegas I had passed by snickered as I walked. My face reddened feeling the humiliation finally wash over me, making me realize just how real all of this is.I kept my head low, not wanting to place attention to myself. It’s the last thing I need after my private, reproductive organ had been blasted across the news. I was an embarrassment to the city, to my pack, and most of all, to my family.Entering the door to the pack doctor’s clinic, I find him sitting across his computer, typing away. His eyes move to me standing by the door before a shock crosses his features, almost as if he’d seen me grow two heads. Then he briefly moves his gaze back to the screen before tapping one of the keys on his keyboard a little too harshly before getting up.“El—I mean uh, Miss Eloise, why are you here?”The doctor looked rather worried, his forehead showing the fine wrinkles he brought with age, his lips pursed into a thin line as he looked over to me“I was hoping you coul
Eloise’s POV:My vision doubles as I whirl around, wondering who the hell slapped me and what for. I blink, shaking my head and wobbling on my feet.“You little sl*t!” someone sneers.Blinking, I squint and instantly recognize the face of the woman standing in front of me. Amanda, a middle-aged woman who is also our valet, was glaring daggers at me like I’ve did her terribly wrong, leaving me rather confused. She’s never looked this angry at me before.“Slacking on your first day? The Alpha will surely hear about this,” she snaps, and I stare at her. “Excuse me?” I furrow my brows, wondering what’s gotten into her. She never talked to me like this before?Amanda scoffs. I notice the omegas starting to gather around us, mumbling amongst each other.“Playing dumb now, are we?” she sneers, making me more confused.“What are you talking about? I just need to get back to my room,” I groan, clearly not understanding why she’s keeping me here on my feet when I needed to get to bed. My injur
Eloise’s POV:My heart clenched with worry, and my stomach sank. Mum? Adeline whimpered too.Mum and I managed to get into contact with each other three years ago. I told her about the rogues and the pack that consisted only of women. She also informed me that Dexter was arrested somewhere, but she wasn’t sure by which pack and for what charges. I was able to let out a sigh of relief once I found out about his arrest. But one morning, around the time she used to call me and see the pups, my phone didn’t ring.I thought she was busy, but the next week she never rang. Then, a week passed still nothing. Two weeks later, I can’t get through to her cell. She never rang after that.“What happened to her?” I ask, my voice laced with worry.Dread fills me at the thought of something happening to my mum, the one person who didn’t turn her back on me when the whole world did.My father clenched his jaw, and I could see he’s hesitating to tell me.“What aren’t you telling me?”My father looks aw
Eloise’s POV:“Eloise.” He calls out.I groan, turning and walking past him just as he comes forward to see me.“I’m busy.” I murmur, using him as a distraction to get away from Kaden.“I’ll wait.” I hear him say, but I pay him no attention.Instead, I walk to my trainees who were waiting for me outside. The amount of testosterone and battle of dominance in the pack training grounds was immense. Yet it was nothing compared to where I was sandwiched between the wall and his hardcore body. And those rock-hard, thick muscles bulging through his—Focus! I mentally slap myself. This is no time to be eye-fucking anybody. I have to focus if I wanted to go home before he could even blink.I force my gaze forward, refusing to acknowledge the way my pulse is still racing. If I let myself spiral for even a second, I’d be stuck there, replaying the moment where he was too damn close, where I almost forgot why I should hate him.I step into the center of the training grounds, my trainees already l
Eloise’s POV:I furrow my brows just as he stops in front of me.Crossing my arms against my chest, I prepare myself for another glare-off with him when he does the next thing I did not see coming. He grabs my arm, dragging me to goddess-knows-where. At first, I recoil but his grip was firm and there was no escaping his hand wrapped around my wrist like handcuffs.“What are you doing? Let me go!” I growl, furious he would do this in front of my trainees. They all looked on at what was happening and glanced at one another, not having any clue as to why this giant, handsome dork is pulling my arm in the middle of training. My cheeks redden in anger and embarrassment, and I yank my arm away when he growls, turning to face me.“What in goddess’ name do you think you’re doing?” I hiss, demanding to know what the hell has gotten into his head to whisk me away at such an inappropriate time.‘You mean to say he should only when it’s appropriate, then?’ Adeline teased, clearly enjoying his att
Eloise’s POV:Kaden’s little visit last night kept me awake, tossing and turning for hours as his voice filled my head.“Face it, Eloise. You are mine. No matter where you run, no matter who you go to, you will always belong to me.” He growled in a deep and husky voice that would make any woman swoon by his feet. Not me, though.“See that mark on your neck?’ his eyes lower, and I instinctively clutched my robe pulling it closer to cover my neck.I look away, but the intensity of his gaze still managed to spread fire through my neck.I hear him chuckle. His voice coming out in a possessive growl.“The reason why it never faded…” he inches closer, and I gulp, “was because you still acknowledge the bond.”Then, sparks rush through my skin when he slowly, seductively slide his calloused hand down my arm, grazing my nipple through the silk fabric of my nightwear. I held my breath. I refuse to react to his provocations because of some invisible string tying us together. He slows down, traci
Kaden’s POV:That night, I find myself outside her room.Again.I don’t knock.I don’t need to.Because the second she opens the door, she stops short. Her eyes narrowing, pulse spiking. She knew I’d come. And she’s waiting. For what, I don’t know. But I’m damn well going to find out.Eloise’s POV:I should slam the door in his face.I should. But I don’t.Because the way Kaden stands there, arms braced against the doorframe like he owns the whole damn world, makes something sharp and dangerous coil in my stomach. My grip tightens on the door handle, “You really don’t know when to quit, do you?”His golden eyes gleam under the dim hallway light.“Not when it comes to you.”My heart does something stupid.I ignore it.Instead, I cross my arms, making sure he sees the irritation on my face.“Do you need something, or are you just here to breathe in my direction like some stalker?”Kaden smirks. Lazy and lethal.“Depends. Will you let me in?”I scoff, “Not in this lifetime.”His smirk wi
Eloise’s POV:I roll out the tension in my shoulders as I stalk across the training grounds, ignoring the way every pair of eyes follows my every move. The air is thick with disbelief and shock that a woman just put one of their top warriors on his ass without breaking a sweat.Good.Maybe now they’ll take me seriously.I can still feel Kaden watching me. His presence is like a second skin, pressing in, invading my space even from across the field. It should bother me.It does. But not for the reason I wish it did.“Back on your feet,” I bark at Aiden, who’s still rubbing his ribs.“You’re my sparring partner now.”His lips part slightly, like he wanted to argue. But one glance at my expression and he thinks better of it.Smart choice. He shifts into a fighting stance, “No holding back, right?”I smirk, “Not even a little.”A split second later, he lunges at me with striking speed. He’s fast—I’ll give him that. But I’m faster.I sidestep his strike with ease, ducking under his arm and
Eloise’s POV:My hands grip the steering wheel tighter than necessary as I pull into the training grounds, my knuckles turning white. I can still feel Kaden’s presence lingering on my skin, like a touch I can’t scrub away.Damn him.Damn the way his words coil around my throat, the way his voice slithers into my mind long after he’s gone.I don’t belong to him.I never will.Abbie shifts beside me, stretching her arms over her head. “You look like you’re about to murder someone.”I exhale sharply, forcing my hands to relax.“Not someone. Just one particular asshole.”She snorts, “You mean the very large, very territorial, very obsessed asshole who followed us here?”My stomach drops.“What?”She jerks her chin toward the rearview mirror.I glance up just in time to see a familiar black pick-up truck rolling to a stop a few yards away.Kaden.Of course it’s Kaden.Because this bastard doesn’t know when to back the hell off.A low growl vibrates in my chest as I shove the car door open
Eloise’s POV:The tension in the air is suffocating.Even after training ends, I can feel Kaden’s eyes burning into me from across the field. Watching. Stalking. Waiting. For what? For me to run?For me to crumble?I won’t.I refuse.Abbie smirks beside me as we gather our things. “You really put them in their place.”I roll my eyes, grabbing my water bottle and taking a long sip. “They needed to learn a lesson.”She snorts. “Oh, they did. But I don’t think the warriors are the only ones who got schooled today.”I follow her gaze, already knowing what—or who—I’m about to see.Kaden stands a few feet away, arms crossed, his massive frame tense. His sharp, dark eyes pin me in place, like he’s daring me to look away first.I don’t.That would be submission. Weakness. And I am not weak. Not anymore.Abbie leans in, lowering her voice. “He looks like he wants to throw you over his shoulder and lock you away somewhere.”I don’t dignify that with a response, but my wolf, Adeline, purrs in am
Kaden’s POV:I lift my head, my voice barely controlled. “Care to explain why my name isn’t on any of these?”Eloise doesn’t answer right away. She watches me carefully, as if preparing for a storm. Then, with a smirk that doesn’t reach her eyes, she says, “Because you were never supposed to know about them.”The ground beneath me might as well have shattered. For the first time in my life, I have no words. And Eloise? She takes a step back. Then another. Then she turns on her heel and walks away, leaving me standing there, gripping the proof of my stolen years.I scoff, shoving the birth certificates into my back pocket before taking another step toward her. My patience is already stretched thin, and the smug way she tilts her head, completely unaffected by my presence, is only making it worse."You think this is a joke?" I grit out, my voice a low growl.Eloise simply arches a brow. "No, I think it's a waste of time standing around when we have work to do." She turns to Abbie, compl
