Is it enough?

I felt her body tremble and saw her eyes fill with tears as she glanced from my eyes to my lips. My tone was pleading; I was almost begging for any sign that I shouldn't give up on her, but she gave me none. She swallowed hard, and when her eyes met mine again, they showed a coldness that nearly froze my soul.

"I love Daon. Only him! I don't feel anything for you. So move on and be happy with whoever you want," she stated, and I shook my head in denial.

"He's not even being honest with you!" I said, knowing it might drive them apart, and I realized I would do anything for her.

"What?" Jane asked, turning her body toward me upon hearing my words. I stepped closer, grabbing her arms.

"The woman at the table, Louyse, is in love with him, and they almost got together," I revealed, and she smiled, looking disappointed in me.
