Chapter 2

Chris's POV :

I saw her gently coming through the aisle like a goddess. My heart overflowed with happiness and stomach fluttered with the excitement of making her mine. Everything was perfect and until, the pastor misspelt her name. I corrected him and turned around to see the veil  being lifted.

There I saw blue eyes instead of the hazel ones watching me not with love, but with terror.

This is not, Eva. But, Ava…!! Her nerdy twin!!

"It's… You…!!" I said with disbelief I crunched my teeth together to control my anger.

This was supposed to be the best day of my life… But everything shattered just like that…!!

Instead of my fiancee Eva, Ava, her twin sister stood there with dread written over her face. 

What on earth is she here instead of Eva?? And where's my Eva??

Before I could digest the scene in front of me, she blacked out. And people rushed and took her inside. I groaned in frustration and was about to scream out. That's when Dad came to my side and took my hand. His expression was uptight.

"Chris, I know how you must be feeling. But, don't create a scene here. Let's talk privately…" He whispered to me.

"What's going on here, Dad…??" I raised my voice. 

"Chris, Granny is watching you. Follow me, okay…"

I looked around and saw Granny's worried expression. I know if I create a scene here it would affect her health. After all, I rushed my marriage because of her health only. I am very close to my Granny as my mother had died when I was two. It was her who raised me well. And I am closer to her than my father. And her every wish is my command.

"Okay, better you know what's going on here.." I muttered to him.

Once we were inside a private room, he locked the door.

"Chris…" He had a guilty expression.

"So you know about this… Right?? But, why Dad?? I love Eva, not her nerdy sister, Ava. Where's my Eva?? Why did you trap me in this??" I shouted in frustration.

Dad exhaled deeply for a second and held me by shoulder and said,

"Chris... Let me explain it. Eva… She ran away from here at the last minute…"

I shrugged off his arms and said in disbelief, 

"No… This can't be true…" with the force I kicked the wooden chair, it shattered on the wall into pieces.

"Calm down, Chris. If you like it or not, this is the truth. She left a letter for her parents explaining that she was not sure about the marriage. "

"What?? Not sure about this marriage?? Dad, we were high school sweethearts. And fate brought her in front of me after all these years and we fell in love again. Even though she wasn't pleased with getting married soon, she accepted it for me. We planned the whole wedding together from the flowers to everything… and now you are saying that she wasn't sure of the wedding?? " I huffed.

"I don't know, son. Looks like she wasn't that much invested into the relationship that you did. And you know Granny's health, I can't risk her life when all she wished for the most was to see your wedding…"

"So, you came up with the next plan to replace Eva?? What a sick joke is this??  Even though they two look alike, both are polar opposites, Dad. And most importantly, I don't love her. In fact, I was the meanest bully of her high school life. And now, as her sister betrayed me to such an extent that I wanted to burn down their whole family…"

"Chris, think about your Granny. I haven't had another way. You know, she is very sick and wants to die peacefully seeing you have a happy family. I know, I am asking too much. But, for your Granny, do this. After she is gone, it's up to you people to continue your journey together or to go separate ways…"

"Do you think I will ever accept that nerdy?? I will divorce her in the next second when Granny is gone… As you said, for Granny's sake, I will tolerate this. But, no one including you can stop my revenge after Granny leaves the world…"

"If anybody is to blame, it's Eva. You can't go against her family just because she betrayed you…"

"It's not only betrayal, Dad. But, she humiliated me in front of all these people. My friends and everyone will be laughing behind my back for marrying that nerdy. Wait a minute, Did she agree to it or did anyone force her as well??" I wanted to know if she can stoop so low like this, by accepting her soon to be brother in law as her husband.

"John told me that as her sister betrayed their family, she stood up to cover the damage. "

"Ooh, really?? " I couldn't believe that she agreed to this arrangement, to marry ME, who bullied her the most and made her life a living hell at that time. Hm… She must be so greedy that she agreed to this.

What a pathetic person she is??

Just wait…!! I will make her pay for everything… including her sister's betrayal.

"Hm… Now, let's go to Ava and check her health…" Dad's voice took me back from my thoughts.

"I am not going. You can check if you want. Make any excuses. I don't want to see even her shadow near me."

"But, you have to come. Granny must be looking for you already. "

I groaned in response and followed him. As soon as we got near to the room, I saw Granny sitting next to nerdy. John and Emma were standing behind, but never made eye contact with me.

"Where were you, Chris ?? " I heard her mad tone. Even though she is the sweetest, she will become deadly when it is needed.

"Some important matter came up. That's why Dad came for me…" Yes,  transfer that blame on Dad's head. After all he partially dragged me into this mess in a deeper way.

Granny glared at Dad and he kept a guilty expression. 

"Benjamin, Don't you know what's more important? Eva must have expected to see him when she was awake. And you, what happened to you?? Why are you not saying anything to Eva??"

That moment I looked briefly at nerdy but she was watching Granny with wide eyes.

"Mom, she is okay now. Maybe because we all are here, they couldn't talk properly. Come, let's go back to your rest room."

Granny agreed and went after caressing  nerdy's hair for the last time. John and Emma were also trying fast to escape from there.

But my voice stopped them.

"Do you think you people can easily escape from this??"

"Christian…" John started to say something but as soon as my cold glare reached him, he froze.

"From now on, don't you dare call me that. Its Mr Hayes for you from now onwards. If my Granny's health wasn't at it's stake, I would have kicked all you out from this place."

"Ch…  Mr Hayes… Eva betrayed not only you, but us too. We are sorry for…"

"Stop it…!! Now, you must be feeling relieved by thinking that one of your daughters had managed to enter the Hayes family. But, you are wrong. Your daughter is going to learn the lesson for her life and will fall back to your door step soon. From now onwards, you two are not allowed to step inside anywhere which belongs to Hayes, and not allowed to keep any kind of communication with your daughter. And all the projects I gave you will be withdrawn with immediate effect."

But, at the last part his face went pale.

"Mr Hayes… Please Don't cancel it…!!" 

Haha, I have threatened her daughter's life and all he could hear was about his business.

"GET OUT OF HERE… NOW…!!" With my shouting both of them ran away. Then my eyes fell into the nerdy who was watching me with fear. That's good… She should be afraid of me...

"Whatever you thought, you have made the worst decision of your life by taking the position of your sister… And I will make you pay every day, every minute you are with me…!! For now, take a rest, Mrs Ava Hayes…!!" And I walked out of there
