Chapter 3 Living together

When Areiza said goodbye to Darren, Darren's deep eyes stayed on her face, and he wondered if her performance was real or fake. When she said that she was getting married, Darren saw a happiness on her face that he had never seen before, it seemed that this marriage he had with Areiza was torture for her as well.

There was nothing wrong with his decision.

Areiza's body finally went limp when she was sure they were far away, she could barely stand by holding on to the wall, and when her mind was almost recovered, she picked up the phone and dialed Snow.

"Areiza! Why did you just hang up?" Snow's angry tone came through.

Areiza laughed bitterly and explained, "I was just at Darren and Hallie's ......".

Areiza hung up, She decided to go home for now and see about hospital-related work, she needed to keep herself busy.

When she got home, Areiza hadn't even sat down when she noticed Darren had pushed the door open and walked in, Areiza's emotions were very mixed, why wasn't he with Hallie?

"My mom and grandma were coming over, so I had to come back," Darren explained as he went upstairs to get changed.

"What? So, they know about our divorce?" exclaimed Areiza.

Darren's footsteps stopped as he turned and said, "They ...... don't know yet, and I'd like us to keep the news under wraps for now. As you know, Grandmother is in very poor health."

Areiza was about to refuse his offer when Darren's words hit her like a bomb.

"So, we have to live together for now."

"What?!" Areiza's pupils seemed to split open! "Can Hallie stand what you're doing? Wasn't she looking forward to the wedding? Isn't her condition such that she can't be irritated anymore?" Areiza added angrily.

She didn't want to live with Darren, she had managed to convince herself to let Darren go completely, but if the two of them lived together, she would inevitably fall again.

"Hallie she ...... she'll understand."

Darren said and quickly walked back into the room.

Areiza stood still as she made plans to move out on her own and as she tried to get some water the doorbell rang.

Areiza put down the glass of water and went to open the door. As soon as she opened the door, the person standing outside hugged her tightly…

“Why didn’t you tell me that you are back? If I didn’t call that brat and he told me, I didn’t even know that my sweet granddaughter-in-law was back. After staying abroad for so long, you forget about me, right?”

Jennifer, Darren’s grandmother hugged Areiza and spoke.

“How can it be? How can I forget my sweet Grandma? I came back yesterday and planning to give you a surprise. However, before I could come to see you, you came first…” Areiza said with a smile.

“So, only miss your grandma, not your mother-in-law. I am feeling so hurt…” Lillian, Darren’s mother, who was standing beside them, also spoke.

“How can that be?” Areiza said and hugged Lillian and spoke, “I miss you both. Come on, Grandma, Mom, let’s go inside.” As Areiza said, three of them went to the living room.

Darren’s mother and grandmother always treated Areiza very well and made her feel like a family. Especially, Grandma Jennifer. However, past few months, her health was not in good condition. She can’t get too excited. That was also the reason, she agreed with Darren to hide the fact of their divorce from her.

Areiza knows that if Grandma finds out about their divorce, she will get angry, which is not good for her health.

When Darren came down after changing his clothes, he heard the sound of laughter in the living room. Her Grandma, mother, and Areiza were sitting on the sofa chatting and laughing happily. There were fruits and pastries placed on the coffee table.

“Hi, Grandma.” Darren walked downstairs and greeted her and reached out his hand to get the pastries.

“Don’t dare to touch them.” Grandma slapped Darren’s hand away and said. “I specially made them for Aria, she loves the pastries made by me.”

Darren pursed his lips and sat on the sofa opposite them and didn’t say anything.

Grandma ignored him, picked up the pastries and handed them to Areiza, and said, “Aria, come and have a taste. Tell Grandma, how they taste?”

Areiza smiled and took the pastries and took a bite, she smiled and said, “The pastries made by Grandma are the best in the world. Nothing can compare them.”

Grandma laughed happily and gave her one more. As they were chatting happily, Grandma suddenly looked at Darren and said, “I have booked an appointment with the doctor for you this week. I want you to have a full body check-up.”
