Sadie deadpanned, “Be serious!”

“I’m being honest, Ms. Wolfenden.”

Kayson’s expression was utterly serious. “That’s what he said. But I didn’t agree to it immediately. Seth Jackson isn’t exactly a good man.”

Sadie furrowed her brows. She was not buying what Kayson said at all and assumed that he was reluctant to tell her the truth, so she did not pursue it but asked, “How did you get acquainted with Mr. Jackson?”

She had gotten a glimpse into the background and influence of the Rivspring Chamber of Commerce when she went out with Sia. Sia did not seem to mind talking to her, so she told her a lot of things—including how the Rivspring Chamber of Commerce was linked to plenty of business tycoons. If outsiders were intending to break into Skyspring, it would be much more convenient with the Rivspring Chamber of Commerce’s help.

“Oh, I beat his son up,” answered Kayson.

Sadie rubbed between her brows, feeling an impending headache. “Can’t you be more serious?”
